The ambiance is dark, . I for one like to see what I am eating, looking around I couldn't find my silverware and I had to ask for it I was granted a knife spoon and a fork a little while later . The food was ok, and the salad was delicious the wait staff seemed very interested in the female clientele sitting next to us . Maybe that's why my flatware was misplaced. Overall a nice place to eat a little pricy. For me.. but those eating next to me they received excellent service. As far as star rating it wasn't a 5 or 4 star rating definitely higher than Kentucky fried chicken. rating, however after eating . I got the bill I definitely won't be coming back. I think the gratuity is a reflection of service. Nice looking restaurant however this is not los angles or Vegas . Pay attention to your customers. Next time thanks Shawn

What can we say!? Absolutely delicious Prime Rib for dinner this evening. Not only perfectly prepared Prime Rib...but the Cesar salads were perfect with freshly prepared croutons. Yummmm Our server Tiffany was very professional and pleasant...as well as Brandon, the General Manager who visited our table to see how our dinner was. We appreciate a wonderful evening out and will definitely come back. The new owner was very friendly and she's apparently doing a great job. My husband is a retired Chef and we may expect better standards and they certainly didn't let us down! Beautiful ambiance...if you're looking for a nice evening out...check them out!

This was our first visit to this new Blacksteer. We had a great time, rocking busy on a Friday night but I had just stepped off a plane and was rather hangry. YELP Short Answer: Yes visit, excellent location, parking, space, menu, vibe, and staff but just falling short in a few places. Location: Excellent, located in large retail center, tons of parking. Buildout: Really well done taking element of past restaurant and making it their own. Nothing fancy but comfortable and fun. Menu: Amazing steakhouse type choices all well explained. Food Prep: Very nice indeed, the prep and plating looked professional and all done with purpose, meaning chef or cooks take pride in what they are sending out. Food Quality: Well, not sure but on this night the food had no taste, no I did not have Covid, but fried chicken special tasted like zero spices in coating yet chicken interior was cooked perfect, the sprinkled a little salt on the finished pieces but that does not make for good chicken as it is all about the batter coating. Total lack to spices and maybe by design, but if someone was looking out for their sodium intake, they would have ordered a salad. Chili was ok, just ok. I maybe order fried chicken once a year so disappointed, ate one piece of the four and left the rest. Maybe their batter secret recipe got screwed up that night and I totally would have sent it back but... Waitstaff: First off a friend who works there part-time is a pro and most of the staff seems to be professional and busy running around trying to get out of there to enjoy their Friday night. Our waiter however was a dud, 15 minutes to take our order after we got menus, food was sitting cooked for 10 minutes, never checked in, then at least 10 minutes to get our bill. Went from Hangry to angry and so avoidable. We watched our friend (R) being super-server to his tables while we were like WTF is up with our guy. Libations: Looked great but we did not order drinks, but bar area looked like fun. Value: Overall a great value but you will need to find what is cooked to your liking. Owner or GM, I believe, was hands on and it was apparent she did care about their brand but thanked us for coming in, did not ask how it was but it was late so I understand. Hope to return but maybe pass on the Fried Chicken Special and our WTF waiters guys station.

That was an incredible meal and the scallops specifically easily rivaled my favorite Michelin recommended Japanese favorite in San Francisco. This was a knockout meal for being all the way up in Oregon. Not only can I not wait to come back, I think I'm comin back in 2 days... I would recommend making a reservation if you want to be seated at a table, there is usually a line at the door for walk ins when they first open. With that being said, you may be sat at the bar if they reach capacity but that is NOT a bad thing - this last time we sat at the bar and had a wonderful experience! The food is 10/10 - our favorite is their hangar steak! If you are in the mood for an appetizer the poutine fries are also 10/10 ! All their cocktails we've tried throughout our visits have also been amazing! The atmosphere is great! The service has always been 10/10 as well - their customer service is unmatched, the owner always makes you feel like you're part of the family! If you haven't been yet, you need to hurry up and get over there!

We loved the Liminal red and appreciated that we could take home what we didn't finish. Judd was amazing, as was the starter bread served with delicious whipped butter. The open kitchen is especially very cool to watch if you don't have anyone else to hang out with. The reason for the review rating, is just the quality of the food. The day before I went to RBC, and not only was it less money than this, it was much much better. This is absolutely not what I expected from a place that looks like this and cost this much. My steak was OK, but as I said, I got the same one at RBC and it blew this out of the water. Picking your knife is a cute little exercise, but after all that I would've expected my knife to at least be sharp enough to cut the steak the way I wanted it. But that's a silly thing to even get stuck on. What really bugged me was the brussels sprouts first off were just swimming in grease and sauce, they were intense, and I only had a couple spoonfuls. The other thing that really pushed this over the edge was the brisket Bao. That seemed like a cool idea, but the brisket itself was extremely basic and just in a formed square. The sauce tasted like just peanut and nothing else, and the bao itself was extremely dry. The bread service was probably my favorite part, that thing was really tasty and so was the butter. I can't remember what they said the butter specifically was, but it tasted like just butter, it wasn't special. This place just doesn't have the value for the cost for me at all with the other nice steakhouses around.

On a whim I decided I wanted a steak and Brickhouse was recommended by friends who do eat steak a lot. Good choice. I sat at the bar and ordered a 6oz filet mignon off the 4-5 PM menu. I took a moment to study the vintage photo of the original firehouse that now serves as the brick bones of the restaurant. Awesome seeing the original garage doors and recognizing where the fire trucks would have sat in waiting. They even kept the fire pole above the bar. I found myself wishing other areas of the restaurant had been designed or decorated more intentionally to honor its soulful past. It wants to be a high class spot, but something about the interior design feels underwhelming. I enjoyed the drinks I tried although the menu seems a bit unimaginative. The energy was strange, maybe it was that night, but bar staff seemed to be a bit "altered" and on edge. One was wearing what may or may not have been an intentional cologne that smelled like the overpowering essence of hot rubber mixed with cigar smoke, and leather. I ended up ordering the fresh steelhead and it was amazing. Caesar salad was lovely. And the drink of the night was called something like a White Christmas but was sort of a wintery margarita. Awesome night in the end. But I prefer the Redmond location.

We were greeted by the host and seated quickly. We started our meal with a delicious non-alcoholic drink and the Chef's Board: a charcuterie with an assortment of cured meats, rustic bread, and various spreads. That came out pretty quickly. Unfortunately, our main courses came out much, much later and lukewarm. Luckily, the food was good enough that it made up for the temperature. I had the NY strip steak. The steak and the Boursin mashed potatoes alone were very good. The pickled onions and chimichurri complemented the meat very well. The meal was supposed to include brussel sprouts but came with a grilled broccoli cauliflower assortment instead. My wife had the Scallop Risotto which was also a great recommendation from the server. In reality, The Hook & Plow deserved 3 1/2 stars but that's not an option on Yelp. It may have been an off night for the staff, so I will give them the benefit of doubt. We would be open to trying it again sometime in the future.

So if you're hankering for the mac n cheese or shrimp n grits or veg burger or any of the menu items, after today they are history. I started eating at The Drake in their first week of business and had many, many, many meals there over the years but things change and so, it seems, has the popularity of The Drake. Now the good news. The new owners are a trio and one of them is also one of the owners of the inestimable Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland that opened its' Bend location last year. (Go! Even if you have to stand in line for 45 minutes like I did.) The first news of this ownership change was that they would keep the name and current focus of The Drake. But local television news reports that after The Drake closes today it will be reimagined with a new name and design and menu. The opening for the new place is currently said to be Memorial Day weekend. I don't live in Bend anymore but there is still a family home there and so I visit on occasion and knowing a "Ken's" owner is involved in the new enterprise may make me brave the wicked-bad downtown parking to try this new place.
