Our family of 15 enjoyed our birthday champagne brunch here. We all had a good time, great service great food. The one thing that spoiled our time was when we asked if we could have our cake with candles & ice cream we brought to finish our lovely time here and we were told we could not and we needed to leave to allow more customers. That was not good but we graciously gathered our things and left. I would suggest if you are planning a birthday celebration, check others places to see if they allow customers to bring your own cake. Most places do allow their valued customers to bring their cake. Stopped by this morning for a lil brunch to kill some time before foodologie opened (major shout out lol love that place) and my mom and I had the best time! It was our first time there I've heard good things from friends who are lbc locals! It did not disappoint! We sat at the bar which is beautifully set up, the decor and ambience is very fun and cute! Food was delicious! We had chilaquiles with carne asada and the breakfast jambalaya. Couldn't skip on the Jurassic bacon! yummmmmy! I highly recommend a baileys and coffee but with their amazing cafe de la olla! A very big shout out to our bartender Melissa! She was absolutely wonderful! From the moment we sat down to the very end she was not only attentive and engaging but she was personable and just all around on top of it! It was pretty packed in there and she was tending bar for the tables drinks and talking to her guests at the bar! Had a good breakfast but unfortunately I was surprised to see a surcharge was added to my bill. A 4% that i don't agree - should be optional. And on top of that I paid 18% of tip not realized that the 4% was before taxes and tips. I'm happy to pay the tip and the appropriate price. Maybe change your prices on the menu instead surcharges. But don't expect customers to pay for tips and taxes on top of these surcharges. Disappointed because I love their food read more

We returned again on a weekday around 11am. It was still quite packed and there was a 30 min wait. We don't mind the wait since there's a ton of shops walking distance to check out. My daughter wanted the Oreo pancakes but after ordering we were later told they ran out. That was a bummer because it's the only thing she eats there. However, she did try some French toast and loved it. My sister and I tried some of their vegan options. The VEGAN tres leches pancakes were AMAZING!!! They're not on the menu so you have to ask your server about them. We also got a vegan breakfast burrito. It was tasty, but the sauce was at the bottom of the burrito so it was a bit dry. I'm giving Breakfast Republic 1 star, and I'd like to warn potential customers about the petty and unsanitary behavior of their staff. Today my girlfriend and I visited BR to grab food. While eating a yogurt bowl I bit into a piece of plastic. I notified my waitress who notified her manager, and I was given a replacement yogurt bowl to go. When I started eating the yogurt bowl at home I discovered that the plastic seal of a yogurt container was hidden in the yogurt bowl. It's pretty disturbing and disgusting that a food establishment would employ staff as immature, unprofessional, and unsanitary as whoever was responsible for contaminating the food of one of their patrons with the plastic seal of a yogurt wrapper. It goes without saying that I will never frequent Breakfast Republic again, and I'd warn anybody simply looking to enjoy a meal to reconsider going as well. As many pervious reviews have mentioned the food is just ok and may contain hidden surprises. read more

I went here in March '24 with my wife for a brunch. The place was pretty crowded, its nice both inside and out. The service was so-so but to be fair, they seemed to be maybe a little short on staff. Not overly pricey for the times and the location. The menu was promising and modern but the food did not deliver on that promise, i ordered the California burrito which had a side of beans and rice. The rice was under cooked and they both lacked seasoning and much flavor. I found the same with the burrito which was pretty bland. My wife ordered the pesto benedict with shrimp. This too was bland and the side of potatoes was also lacking seasoning. Coffee was pretty good on the positive side. Overall, nice plating and presentation but I wouldnt go back due to the food lacking much flavor. read more

I usually go to the Newport location and it is always great there but this location was a let down. We went around 2 and there was not too many people there, the food took longer than expected but it came to us cold like it had just been sitting there. We live in LB and go out to brunch every single weekend. We tried Breakfast Republic on 2nd street (we've tried other locations and had great experiences) and had the WORST service! We sat at the bar when nobody was there. Everything started out great and then went downhill from there. The bartender (Maddie) was great for the 1st 5 minutes and declined from there. She served us drinks in glasses that had noticeable lipstick around the rim and proceeded to catch an attitude when we asked for replacements as if this was our fault. She never ONCE asked how we were doing or...after at LEAST 45-55 minute wait for food!!!! - asked how our food was. My order came out wrong...she sent it back and it came out wrong AGAIN - again never asking me how it was. Literally hands down one of the worst experiences for breakfast in Long Beach we've ever had. We had high hopes as it's been recommended on the Long Beach food scene Facebook page and well...never again. Great atmosphere and vibe, below average and unacceptable terrible service! I hate leaving bad reviews, but I've been here quite a few times because the food is good, but sadly the service keeps getting worse and worse. The level of avoidance from the staff is unbelievable. Just be prepared to be ignored. Be prepared to feel like your unconvincing the workers. They weren't even busy! Our family went here for breakfast and we were excited to try the new place! It's pretty cute as far as atmosphere, especially the open air seating. The prices were way up there for a breakfast which was especially disappointing since our food wasn't fantastic. I had a simple eggs/bacon dish and upgraded with the brussel sprout potatoes and cinnamon roll pancake. My eggs were undercooked (soggy on the inside), and the bacon was extremely greasy, fatty and completely limp. The pancake was delicious and the brussel sprout potatoes definitely stole the show, but none of that helped since my food was barely warm if not cold when it came out. My daughter's omelet was great but my husband had the same complaints about his eggs that I did and his food was also cold. We definitely had the worst server there. It took quite a while to even get greeted. We asked for water and ordered coffee which came to our table first then had to ask for water again. We pretty much had to ask for EVERYTHING (coffee refills, creamer for the coffee, etc). I had to use my napkin to wipe up the spilled coffee from my cup when it was delivered and had to use my knife to stir my coffee since I never got a spoon. We basically got tired of having to ask for the simplest things that should be service 101. We may try it again on another day but I'm seeing some of the same complaints in previous reviews (soggy, greasy bacon for one) so not confident things will be better. Not worth the money! read more
