It's pretty popular on the internet so I think I went into it with very high expectations for the food. The food wasn't bad, but I didn't have anything amazing either. The kaya bun would've been 10x better warm and fresh (it was room temp and the bread wasn't too soft anymore). The chocolate tea croissant was actually pretty good, but again....would've been better fresh. Breakfast sandwich was decent, no special notes on it....I'll have to come back and try other things!

The line was long, much longer than I'd normally wait but the promise of matcha and delicious pastries kept me there. It moved quickly and I was inside in about 15 minutes- not bad. I ordered: Banana matcha latte: One of the best banana matcha I've had. The ceremonial grade matcha they use is top tier and delicious. The banana isn't fake or cheap tasting and it was just the right amount of sweet. Mushroom danish: this was my least favorite but still tasty. I think this would have been 100 times better if it was warm. It had really good savory mushroom flavor, though. The Cubano croissant: this thing was fantastic. It was still a tiny bit warm and the lamination was 10/10. Crispy, flakey, buttery, cheesy, and it had pickles! I will be coming back for this. Pearl apple danish: the apples are candied and it's just as buttery and flakey as the others. I'm more of a savory girl but the sweetness of this was really nice, it wasn't too much. My mom loved this one. The person who helped me was so sweet and full of smiles and warmth. The customer service definitely matches the beautiful pastries. I found a new fave in the city today!

We ordered the plain croissant, breakfast croissant, black sesame, mushroom potato, and almond raspberry. Everything was delicious. We especially enjoyed the plain croissant and the breakfast croissant sandwich. Usually breakfast croissant sandwiches get soggy but this one held up well. We also had the chia pudding. It is almond milk based with fruit, granola and jam which gives it the right amount of sweetness. Both visits there was a line, but it went fairly quickly. Seating is available with some tables and stools along one side of the wall.

The store itself is located at the bottom floor of Japan Town's West mall right across Maido and Matcha Cafe Maiko! Service depends on whoever is the cashier but today we had a nice girl! :)

They were still open with most of their baked goods available. I wasn't really hungry but decided to ordered 2 of the orange chocolate buns to go. I reheated them in the air fryer and they came out nice and warm. The orange flavor was subtle and the chocolate complemented it well. I thought it would be more chocolate-y and probably would've liked it a bit more if it was, but it was still good. However, it was super sticky and with every bite the caramelized sugar would stick to the roof of my mouth and in between my teeth. Service was friendly and answered my questions about some of their more unique items. I'd come back and try their other stuff when I'm in the area again.

I forgot to ask if I could adjust the sweetness and the staff didn't ask, but I found the latte to be too sweet. I would have preferred more sesame flavor as well. I'll have to try and adjust this next time. I tried the plain salt bread later in the day and found it unremarkable on its own. I'd definitely stick to the salt bread sandos instead!

We also tried the black sesame cream salt bread, at which no black sesame flavor really came through but I can attest that the bread itself was delicious (next time I'll try something more simple) If I'm ever in this area again I hope to give their drinks another chance!

The pastry was flaky, fruity, and gooey from the almond filling. It's like the chocolate version, but fruitier. The pastry came warm, which was nice, but it didn't beat the pastries served early in the morning (I came in the afternoon). The only disappointment was I couldn't really taste any hazelnut flavoring. Regardless, this was still a delicious croissant that I would get again! I also tried their iced vanilla latte which was just okay and standard. The main star of the show is the pastries. This location is located near Oracle Park. The parking situation here is difficult, but good for a quick pick up. They have a private bathroom inside as well as some seating and tables outside. A must visit chain for anyone visiting SF!

The shop is small, with a large staff to help customers quickly and efficiently. When we arrived, there were only a couple of people ahead of us in line, so we got there at a great time. They had a large selection of pastries and we chose a few items to try. I asked if it would be okay to take a couple of pictures, and there was no problem. Everyone that we encountered was very friendly and helpful. We tried a Kouign Amann, which was good. Do know if you have never had one, it is very sweet. I enjoyed a bacon scone and a cold brew, and both were good. We took some other items with us to enjoy later in the day. Being a small shop, the eating area options are limited. Inside there is counter area in front of the windows where you can eat standing up. Outside there were a just few tables and chairs. However, if you head outside towards the stadium, there are lots of benches, tables, and chairs at China Basin Park. We would have liked to get sandwiches to take to the game, but each one, with the exception of the vegetarian one, had ham. If there had been a turkey or chicken options, we'd have tried the sandwiches too. This location is good for those that work/live in the area, or who are headed to a day game at the stadium.

I'm just filled with regrets and sad, empty calories. They offer pre-order now, with 48 hour minimum advance notice via e-email and you have to get at least 6 items. We decided to get the following: 1. Almond croissant ($7.75) - gorgeous presentation topped with almonds in a way that reminded me of a stegosaurus...but no flaky mouthfeel when biting into it and seriously lacking almond paste. Arsicault, I will never cheat on you again with an almond croissant because you are still the gold standard and nothing will ever compare. I will die on that hill. 2. Everything kouign amann ($9) - I liked the flavor of this one, but again, the pastry itself wasn't super flaky and crunchy. A bit too much cream cheese filling, but at least they filled it...unlike that sorry disappointment of an almond croissant. Can you tell I'm still bitter? 3. Vanilla & passionfruit cube ($9) - really pretty....but flavor just wasn't there. As someone on Reddit said, "parachute is lots of style, almost no substance." That, fellow yelpers, sums up the cube. My husband makes better passionfruit curd and he is not a professional pastry chef by any means. 4. Shakshuka croissant ($12) - this is probably the only winner of the pastries. I really liked the savory components and the egg was cooked where is was just runny enough. If I only had this, then Parachute would be a 5/5. But no, I decided to be gluttonous and order a 3000 calorie-filled box of sadness and overpriced goods. 5. Bowtie ($14) - so, so so gorg!!! Looks like a Hello Kitty bowtie and had such promise! I saw juicy bits of lychee...but where was my flaky croissant pastry with the crunch? It was just soft biting into it...maybe the cream filling just made everything into a deflated pillow. 6. Parachute chocolate entremet ($18) - finally, the only thing with a satisfying crunch! Good flavor, like a ferrero rocher in a cake form (which may be a bit odd because I don't recall seeing hazelnut in the description) but too sweet for my Asian tastebuds. I wanted to love this, but I think I just loved how it looked. 7. Black sesame and yuzu cookie ($8) - the yuzu was indeed tart, not like the passionfruit cube. The cookie was actually the first thing we tried, so we thought the overall box would be good as the cookie set the tone. It lied. Also came by on a weekday around noon, so there was only one person in line. If you pre-order, you can skip the line, but this is only available Mon-Thurs. I also read somewhere that Parachute and Juniper are coming to the Peninsula... but you'll catch me in Palo Alto throwing my money at Arsicault.
