Wow, we had an even better experience eating their pastries fresh in person, compared to having someone bring us a to go box. This place definitely lives up to the hype and is worth waiting in line for. And the wait wasn't even that bad - on a Sunday afternoon we waited maybe 10 mins in line and then about 5 mins for our order. What they make varies a lot depending on day or month. Several things we loved last time weren't available, such as the Flan Tart and Shakshuka Croissant. They also sell out of popular items early, such as their Wagyu Pastrami. Items we really liked this time that we'd get again: * Pain au Chocolat - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the shape is also better than most others out there since you get chocolate in every bite. * Clam Chowder Bowl - better than any typical bread bowl and soup, and surprisingly loaded with chowder * Everything Kouign Amann - very onion and full of cream cheese, also the sweetness of the caramelized outside works surprisingly well. The Gochujang Pimento Cheese Twist was good, but I could pass on it next time if it meant getting something else. Only small minus would be their drinks, which are pricey and small and just okay, so I'd get coffee elsewhere next time. Seating is very limited, so you'll have to keep an eye out like a hawk if you want a seat to eat there. They have a variety of cute merchandise for sale too such as shirts, hoodies, etc.

Long line, but moves semi-quickly and you get your stuff very soon after ordering. Only a few tables to sit at inside. Really interesting menu! Everything looked delectable. Everything Kouign Amann: SO unique! Never heard of a savory kouign amann, so we defo had to try. Sweet and crispy on the outside and topped with everything seasoning; inside had a blob of savory cream cheese. Really good!! Idk if I'd get it again, just cause I didn't love having cream cheese in my pastry, but I would highly recommend for anyone who's curious. The pastry itself was delicious, sweet, and flaky. 8/10 Almond Croissant: unfortunately, she had some orange zest in her frangipane. I did not love that bc I don't love citrus in my desserts/pastries. It didn't work for me objectively, but it was not bad at all. The croissant was flaky and good. 6.5/10 Definitely want to return to try other pastries! Esp Pain Au Chocolate and maybe the Wagyu croissant if we're feeling fancy. Literally all the other pastries looked so good so honestly could go try anything else as well.

Delicious and unique pastries inside the ferry building from the team behind the Michelin-starred restaurant Sorrel. Definitely worth a stop. My friend and I arrived around 11am on a Saturday. It was maybe a 30-minute wait in line but it felt comfortable indoors and was worth it! Definitely recommend coming hungry with 1+ people to try a variety of flavors. Service was friendly and quick. Wooden utensils available, perfect for cutting items to share. Seating is limited but we found an indoor table nearby. The line to order fluctuated between 11:30-1pm but it didn't get longer than when we first arrived. We ordered a variety of pastries (Yuzu, Olive Oil & Black Sugar; Strawberries & Cream Cube; Blueberry Rose Jam Flan; Gochujang Pimento Cheese Twist; Everything Kouign Amann; Canelé) and 2 drinks (Masala Chai; Green Juice). FAVORITES: 1. Yuzu, Olive Oil & Black Sugar: ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. Bursting with flavor and just amazing! The olive oil cake with yuzu curd, black sugar meringue, blood orange marmalade, and flaky pastry texture. Just the right amount of sweetness. If you only get one thing, I say get this one. 2. Gochujang Pimento Cheese Twist: ask for it warmed up. The toasty cheese with the pastry flakiness and subtle spice of gochujang, charred peppers, scallions, so good! My favorite savory pastry of the day. 3. Everything Kouign Amann: also delicious. Everything bagel seasoning (garlic, onion, and sesame seeds) and scallion cream cheese filling inside and a caramelized bottom. The pastry had great texture. 4. Strawberries & Cream Cube: refreshing and light pastry with fresh strawberries in what tasted like whipped yogurt crème fraîche filling. Notes: the blueberry pastry didn't taste like it had flan at all, which was disappointing, but it had a generous amount of fresh blueberries and berry jam if you're craving that. I wasn't into the masala chai. It tasted like it might've been made from a premade concentrate. My friend enjoyed her green juice. If you're looking for a unique drink, the Banana and Cream Salt Einspanner looked good. I'll try that next time. Overall, such a fun experience with a great mix of savory and sweet options! I'll be back again to try other pastries and drinks!

Parachute Bakery is such a cute stop inside the Ferry Building, especially if you want a quick pastry and coffee break while walking around the waterfront. I tried their sesame cookie and my friend got a cacao latte, and both felt fun and memorable. The sesame cookie had a rich, nutty flavor with a slightly dramatic dark color, and the white chocolate on top gave it a nice sweet contrast. It was easy to share and made a great little treat between errands, sightseeing, or catching up with a friend. I also loved the presentation and atmosphere. The bakery counter has a warm, modern feel, and the San Francisco cards and Golden Gate Bridge designs nearby made the whole corner feel very local and charming. It is a nice place to pause, enjoy something sweet, and take in the Ferry Building vibe. Great spot for a casual pastry stop, a light coffee break with quick service, or a small treat before exploring the Embarcadero.

Parachute Bakery in the SF Ferry Building has had a lot of hype since it opened. I saw it featured on social media and had also witnessed the long lines that form there almost every day (at least while there are still enough items available), so I was definitely looking forward to trying it. On the advice of a friend, I made a point to get there early on a weekday. Even though the bakery wasn't quite open yet, there was already a small line forming! Wowza. When I was finally served and able to make my selection, I tried to get a mix of sweet and savoury items, and with different textures, to share. Like many things in SF, it did feel a bit pricey, but that's to be expected, right? Needless to say, everything was excellent! I'd happily have the same items again - or try different ones - because the quality was clear across the board. The only challenge is logistics. It can be difficult to visit unless I have time to go early or I'm, alternatively, willing to wait in a long line. Still, it was absolutely worth trying at least once.

Extremely tasty and unique. I think they balance the sweet and savory very well. I also love the branding. I didn't try the drinks, but I will come back again and bring some friends! The Embarcadero is very busy so try to come during off hours. We came on a Saturday morning and it was packed. I think the line took around ~15 minutes? So not bad. But I'm sure off hours are better.

I've been wanting to try this bakery for a while, but the lines were always so long. I was in the area and saw that there were only 2 people in line so decided that today was the day. My order: Banana & Salted Cream Einspänner ($9.50): +As someone who usually orders less sweet, I thought regular sweetness (100% or 2 pumps of syrup) was good. +Cold brew was smooth and not too acidic. +Banana was incorporated throughout, with drinkable bits throughout and a brûléed slice on top. It surprisingly worked and was one of the most unique coffees I've had in recent memory! -I thought the salted cream was too salty. -No option for 0% ice -Small for the price Black Sesame Yuzu Cookie ($8.00): +I prefer cookies that are soft and chewy, and this was perfect texturally. +Dollops of yuzu cream added brightness and color. -Even though there were lots of sesame seeds throughout, it was light on the sesame flavor. I think a sesame paste would've amped up the flavor. -Sea salt wasn't evenly distributed, so some bites just tasted like straight up salt. I was bummed that they didn't have the Vanilla & Passionfruit Cube, Side notes: 1.) Self-serve napkins, straws, and utensils 2.) Limited seating available, but there are spots inside and outside the Ferry Building if it's filled. *Verdict: Friendly service, but considering the background and price, it was so-so. If I was in the area and there wasn't a line, I would try the Vanilla & Passionfruit Cube, which wasn't available.

Finally tried Parachute after having it bookmarked for months! I've seen super long lines here, so I've always been curious. I got the wagyu pastrami croissant since I was in the mood for something savory. It wasn't really my cup of tea, but that's probably because I'm not a big pastrami person. That said, the croissant itself was super flaky and tasty. I went on a weekday and the line was pretty short; less than 10 minutes. Prices are definitely on the higher side ($12 for the croissant), so I'd probably try something different next time. Still glad I finally checked it out!

I was so excited to check out Parachute. Michelin-chef team, very hyped, and I was especially excited for their very special ergonomic Chocolate Croissant. On a Friday around noon, there's no line, it's our lucky day. We're at the ferry building - we sat outside looking at the bay, and it's a gorgeous day. I took a bite. It's the best croissant ever. My friend takes a bite, she agrees. I'm excited to devour this whole thing. THEN A SEAGULL FLIES BEHIND ME, SNATCHES THE CROISSANT, AND FLIES AWAY. I'M ROBBED AT DAYLIGHT. We, and everyone around us, all just laugh. I'm dying inside TLDR: Chocolate Croissant is the best one I've ever tried. BEWARE SEAGULLS, DON'T EAT OUTSIDE. Seagulls got taste. Happy Ending: I went back last weekend (on a Saturday morning with a 20m wait) and by God's grace, the Chocolate Croissant was still there for me. I learned my lesson and ate it indoors. Delicious. Their Plain Croissant is excellent and Matcha latte (from Kettl! my fav) is strong and a perfect companion.

Supposedly a hype bakery - and kinda felt like it too. Long lines, high prices, and ... alright pastries. I'm not really a bakery guy bc I've rareelllyyy encountered bread or pastry where it's worth waiting in a line. That being said, was passing by so decided to try - the staff explained the popular wares and we opted for a popular strawberry croissant thingie. The workers were really nice - but the pastry was dry, yet the layers stuck together, and just didn't have any pizazz. Maybe it was an off-day but I basically just finished it off bc I was hungry after no one wanted anymore. Reading other reviews, I do feel like it feels more like, a placebo place where people think it's good bc "it's supposed to be good." Maybe I'll give it another shot, but would rather go to the farmer's market nearby with much tastier treats.

The line was humongous on a Sunday morning. Took 20 minutes to get to the front of the line. Another 10-12 minutes for my order to be ready. Service was efficient when making my purchase. I got the clam chowder croissant bowl, warmed up. The croissant was flaky on the outside and light & buttery on the inside, and the clam chowder had great flavor and consistency. Altogether it made for an excellent meal, which I enjoyed while picnicking at the park, though they offer a bit of indoor seating on site too.

wagyu pastrami croissant, everything kouign amann, canalé

Stopped by while we were at the farmers market! The line was long but moves fairly quickly ! My sister and I got a variety of baked goodies and some drinks. The banana latte was good but not my favorite. We were surprised by how yummy the hot cookies and cream latte was! Some of our favorite baked goodies were the canale and the pastry with the cream cheese filling.

They change up their pastries every few months so I went to the ferry building to try the wagyu pastrami Reuben croissant. The line was a bit long when I got there at Sunday at 10:30 but moved very quickly. I probably only waited 20 minutes. The pastrami Reuben delicious! Filled with pastrami, sauerkraut, a bechamel, gruyère and mustard, it tasted great stuffed in a croissant. Very filling and tasty. They only have a few seats at the bakery so I went outside to eat on a bench. It was nice to sit by the ocean and enjoy a great pastry.

The earl grey was my fave, easy to control the sugar level and very fragrant. The earl grey and matcha does not over power each other which I really liked. The soft serve, is suuuper good. Today I thought I'd give J&J another chance. 8 months to read citicisms and get its act together. SERVICE: JOE & THE JUICE gained a bad reputation in the Bay Area pre-covid for flagrantly disregarding city law that prohibits retail businesses from going strictly cashless. For good reason: Refusing paper and coin currency is defacto segregation against Black and Brown folks and the working poor and those on a fixed income who are more likely to be restricted to cash transactions. This is an unjust policy, refusing to take "certain people's " money and in my book equals BAD SERVICE. FOOD & BEVERAGES: Upon my return to the large JOE & THE JUICE location in San Francisco's Financial District - which I used to frequent most days of the week for years before the boycott - I ordered my signature drink, Americano + extra shot of espresso with milk. Now although J&J is wildly overpriced compared to other espresso bars and snack joints, the Danish (J&J is a Denmark import and not locally owned, so maybe they don't understand how we do here in the USA) ownership refuses to provide the paying customer options between 1/2&1/2, Whole Milk, 4% Milk, etc. It carries only 2% milk which is just above lightly flavored water. I always have 1/2&1/2 with my cofffee but not at J&J, despite the high prices customers pay. I used to stock this location myself with 1/2&1/2 out of my own pocket from the Walgreens across the street, which a customer shouldn't have to do. BEVERAGES: Well my Americano, honestly, was awful. Tasted like dirty dish water. Old stale coffee bean flavor only slightly diluted luke warm water. BAD PRODUCT. SERVICE: It appears JOE & THE JUICE ownership and management are back to their old tricks again refusing cash payment. I told the manager it's city law thay accept cash payment - payment equality - and he conceded he knew this is the law. I was given the excuse the cash register just happened to be broken and they were waiting repairs, but trust me as one who knows J&J very well this is just BS: they're told to tell customers or city inspectors this and cynically keep going on with their segregationist policy. BAD. BAD. BAD SERIVICE!
