My favorite SF bakery! Favorite breakfast spot actually. I love their shrimpwich and Kaya toast. Need to try all items on their menu. Location is nice too where dogpatch borders the water. Lots of outdoor tables. Line can take some time, 11:30 AM Saturday we waited about 30 minutes. Dont come too late in the day or they'll be out of all their specialty pastries. Parking isn't too bad with metered parking all around the area.
We stopped by Breadbelly in Dogpatch in the afteroon and everything we ordered was so good! I got the Kaya Toast, which was sweet, rich, and perfectly balanced by the sprinkle of salt flakes on top. That little touch of salt made such a difference and kept the kaya from being overly sweet. My spouse got the Belly Dog which consisted of a BKHD beef hot dog with beer cheese mustard mayo, sweet chili sauce, sun gold tomatoes, onions, cabbage, and a toasted bun. Such a fun combination of flavors and textures, and the toasted bun was the perfect finishing touch as it was fluffy but crispy on the outside! To accompany my kaya toast, I got the Black Sesame Cappuccino, and it was SO delicious. It had the perfect amount of black sesame flavor without overpowering the espresso, plus just the right caffeine kick. Definitely one of the most unique and satisfying coffee drinks I've had! This location is larger than the one on Clement and has great outdoor seating. Food and drink wise, everything was flavorful, creative, and thoughtfully put together. Will def come back to try their other items!
Recently I visited Dogpatch location for the first time. It's tucked away near the piers and has a good amount of seating both outside in the front and around the back which is a nice upgrade from the smaller Richmond location. I've been wanting to try some new pastries and ended up getting the kaya bun, apricot twice baked croissant, and shrimpwich along with an iced matcha cappuccino to drink. Loved the matcha cappuccino which was super smooth and very strong - just the way I like my match! Of the food, I liked the shrimpwich the best which came with a yummy slaw but I thought the bun was a bit dry and lackluster. I was a bit disappointed with both the sweets though as the apricot preserve plus the almond top on the croissant was way too sweet for my taste and the kaya bun which reminded me of a pineapple bun was dry. I prefer the kaya toast over the bun.
We love Breadbelly! My favorite is the Mt Tam Basque Cheesecake, their Kaya toast, and I enjoy their shrimpwich as well. We decided to try some new things today so my heart breaks that I couldn't get my favorites But I needed to save my stomach space for their seasonal Mango Passionfruit Monkeybread and finally try their Kaya bun. Both were ok. The monkeybread was more citrus-y than mango. Their Guava Chocolate Milk had a rich chocolate flavor, and would be good as a stand-alone chocolate milk were I not expecting guava flavor (maybe there was a whisper of guava but not much there). Can't wait to come back for my favorite Basque Cheesecake!
I visited on a Saturday around 10:00 AM and was pleasantly surprised to find no line and easy parking. They offer plenty of outdoor seating with several cafe tables and chairs. They have over 10 varieties of pastries, including some seasonal options it seems. I tried the Kaya bun, the kumquat twice-baked croissant, and a coconut yuzu macaron feuilleté. Everything was delicious! The Kaya bun was generously filled, and I loved how prominent the citrus notes were in the kumquat and yuzu treats. I'll definitely be back to try more.
I usually go to the Breadbelly in the Richmond but came to the Dogpatch location since they were doing a collab with Outta Sight Pizza at this location only. It was for the famichiki parm sando - a crispy chicken cutlet, mozzarella, chili miso marinara, mizuna, all on Breadbelly's signature milk bread. It was delicious! The chicken was nicely fried and still moist, it went will with the miso marinara sauce. I hope they do more collabs in the future! Compared to their Richmond spot, this location is a lot bigger and less of a wait. It has some seating outside and some inside the warehouse. I was there at 10:30-11am and there was barely any line.
I will always love an Asian inspired bakery but Breadbelly is objectively good! The Kaya bun had a strong flavor profile and was not too sweet which is what I was afraid of before trying. I would probably pass on their gyeranbbang next time but it was exactly what it said, cornbread with egg and cheese on top. Still - would love to come back to try literally everything else on the menu at least once. This location specific is great as well - spacious with lots of outside seating and a lot less busy than the other one. It is next to an indoor pickleball or tennis court so there is that lol. Def coming back!
Been meaning to try their infamous kaya toast but the Richmond location always seems busy so decided to try it here instead. Easy to find parking here and no line on a weekday! Very spacious inside and plenty of outdoor seating. For some reason I imagined this to be the type of toast that you dip into a soft boiled egg mixture like in Singapore/Malaysia. Either way, loved the sprinkles of salt on top to balance out the sweetness of the pandan jam. Toast was a thick slice of fried honey glazed milk bread which was filling! Other pastries all looked good too. A little on the pricy side but worth the splurge!
Breadbelly in Dogpatch is a standout for anyone chasing a serious breakfast or pastry fix. The coffee is pretty good--not a destination roast shop, but solid enough that pairing it with a warm biscuit or pastry feels exactly right. The space is cozy and inviting, perfect for a casual morning in the neighborhood or a quick stop before heading to the waterfront. Service is friendly and low‑pressure, which makes it easy to linger with a pastry and a cup. Prices are on the higher side, especially if you're loading up on pastries or grabbing a sandwich and coffee. That said, the quality and creativity of the food generally justify the cost, even if you're silently side‑eyeing your wallet as you hand over your card.
5% surcharge. 5/5: Kaya bun $7: All parts of it work: Great bun, filling, crust, and sugar crystals on top. 3/5: Breakfast Sandwich $14.50. It's kinda meh; all ingredients are uniformly mushy (no contrast with the bun), and the fermented pepper paste overwhelms the rather bland ingredients.
The kaya toast in specific was what I went here for, not the traditional ones Ive had it in Malaysia, but.. it is very close, on the sweet side but very good. The milk bread and crust underneath puts it in another dimension. The banana bread bites, coz they are just that, bite size, was moist and delicious. There are other things I'd like to eventually try. Would i go back? Yes, definitely. Gonna have to try other pastries.
I came here with some friends and we loved everything. We loved the chicken sandwich and the Kaya Bun and all of our drinks were pretty tasty as well. I had the Karl's cappuccino hot, but my friend got it iced and I thought the iced was better. This area is in a very industrial part of the city, but parking wasn't bad and it was cheap. For one hour parking on Sunday it was $1.35. We didn't have to wait in line for long, maybe 5+ minutes. Staff was very kind. They have a lot of outdoor seating, but I would like to see more seating in the inside. It's in a very big warehouse with lots of empty space. My only reason for not giving five stars was because my friend spilled her coffee in the middle of the walkway between the entrance and where you pick up food and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was there for nearly 5 minutes before anyone got up to clean it. We noticed that the workers acted like they didn't know what to do when the spell happened, which was very odd. I think it's unacceptable to leave a spill for someone to slip and fall in the middle of your establishment.
Lovely spot for pastries and coffee, conveniently located in the same building as Bay Padel, so it's the perfect place to fuel up before / after a game of padel or pickleball! I grabbed a latte and everything bun from Breadbelly before a round of games, and I was super impressed by everything -- the coffee was creamy and smooth, the bun was super tasty, and everything came out remarkably efficiently. The bun was soft and pillowy and stuffed with a generous helping of caramelized onions, then topped with a dollop of cream cheese. It was a super fun combo, almost like eating an everything bagel but so, so much better, and the onions really enhanced the flavor profile. The pastries are a lil too expensive (two coffees and a pastry was $30!), but they're a nice treat, especially if you split them. They also have a ton of beautiful toasts and sandwiches that I wasn't quite ready to try (maybe not the best prelude to a racket sport), but I can't wait to come back to try them! I also love that they have an absolutely massive kitchen with giant windows. It was really fun to snack on my bun / coffee and watch the staff work their magic in the background.
Loved that there's a new location on this side of town! We've tried a few things from their original location so we decided to reorder some of our fav. The shrimp patty was a little unevenly salted where some bites were much saltier than other. The Kaya bun is incredible - the coconut and pandan flavor really comes through and it's not too sweet! We also got the Gyeranbbang which was yummy flavor wise but I wish the egg was runnier! Also really loved the space! I feel like the more shops will pop up the more fun that whole area will be. read more
Breadbelly is a hidden gem! It's at a beautiful location in dogpatch with delicious Asian inspired pastries. I loved the vibe of the place, I recommend either picking it up so you can heat the items you want or having it in their outside seating area. The coffee options were pretty good too but the pastries are the best! The service was great and everyone was very warm and welcoming. read more
Bought a variety of the pastries this morning for the office and everyone was so obsessed with them! The lamination on the croissants?? Exquisite. I also got a gyeranbbang and was obsessed with it. The black sesame latte was so good and not too sweet or too rich. Service was quick and the staff was friendly. There's a great outdoor seating area with plenty of space. read more
Finished a run at the new location of the famous Richmond District staple, Breadbelly! Much as I had hoped, compared to its constantly busy other location, the new spot had no line and allowed me to walk right up and order some delicious treats! Normally, I will try one of their coffee based or other hot beverages but today I was feeling understandably parched so opted for a watermelon lychee black tea, which, while sweet, was exceedingly refreshing! I also indulgently added a honey walnut shrimp sandwich, which I was not sure how they would pull off, but sounded delicious. I should not have been skeptical as it came out as a brioche bun with tangy honey sauce and a large breaded fried shrimp patty! I'm clocking in at an alarming $22, I certainly can't fault the flavor one bit! New craving unlocked... The space is also pretty unique being one of the newly renovated pier buildings in the dogpatch. There are several other businesses in the same building, including some indoor tennis courts, standard deviant brewing, a motorcycle dealership, and there's still room for Moore. As it stands, there is plenty of parking and plenty of indoor seating in the common area behind the bakery. Also, in comparison to their other shop, there are windows all around it, and you can see in to watch the magic happen. Overall, it was a very encouraging visit and I can't wait to return! read more

Happened to be in the dogpatch neighborhood on the weekend and decided to try this place out since I had bookmarked it for a while. This new breadbelly location is in the same building as bay padel. It has a minimalistic vibe with open kitchen and simple decor. There was a short wait on a late Saturday morning and some of the menu items had already been sold out. I was most excited to try the kata toast but was a bit disappointed when I opened the box since it didn't quite match what I had seen in photos. It was also a little too sweet for my taste. However, the egg salad bunwich and watermelon iced tea were both delicious and would recommend. read more
Visited on a Saturday around 10am, short line with another 3 guest ahead of me but a longer que of about 8 did start to form after I arrived, so expect a bit of a wait. Drink: oatmeal latte - solid, nice creamy foam with a bit of espresso, waited less than 5 minutes for my drink after ordering Food: Not ube tart - really good, great crisp pastry, sweet potato custard had a balanced sweetness, the shaved salted egg yolk added a little savory contrast, toasted meringue added a little indulgence to the dessert Kaya Bun - solid, bun was nice and fluffy, loved the crunchy matcha almond cookie topping, creamy kaya custard was good, just wished there was more of it for a better ratio balance of bun to filling Service was excellent, asked if I needed napkins or utensils for my order, food was packed quickly, overall felt warm and attentive. So glad there is a breadbelly on the east side of the city, love that this location has more space and seating outside. Food quality is equally good, this is SF pricing so a bit high ($6 for drop coffee is pretty wild) but definitely worth a visit. read more
I love this new location! It's big, comfortable, and the parking is easy to find. They're located inside of this warehouse and they share the space with a few other businesses. They have their own dedicated outdoor seating but there's also a bunch of tables towards the back, inside the communal warehouse area. The food was pretty pricey, my three items were around $50 but it was absolutely delicious and worth it as a treat occasionally! They have a huge staff and they're all super kind. The food did take ~20 minutes after ordering so definitely keep that in mind if you're in a rush. The pandesal sausage sandwich was delicious. You could tell that the pandesal was baked fresh and everything in the sandwich was house made. The toast had a super thick and generous layer of kaya spread on it and the bread itself was super soft. We also got a black sesame latte and the black sesame latte was super strong. I'd definitely come back! read more

We got the cold Yuzu Juice Espresso, Drip Coffee, Chocolate Miso Entremet and Orange Croissant. TLDR: decent taste, way too expensive for what you get and doesn't taste that much better than other places to be worth the price. Chocolate Miso Entremet: $12, very pretty on the outside, could not taste the secret sauce miso because it was dominated by chocolate or just not present. Did not taste better than the chocolate cakes at whole foods. Orange Croissant: $10 Yummy, liked the orange jam (but it was concentrated on one end of the croissant), good crumbles and frangipane. Pastry did not taste the freshest. Prefer the almond croissant at Arsicault. Yuzu Espresso: $8.50 actually really nice taste. It's an espresso mixed in with a yuzu flavored sparkling water. We drove all the way from the Peninsula to check out Breadbelly's new location on a Sunday, arriving around 12:50 PM. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed to find that all their pastries were already sold out! As big fans of their original Richmond District spot, we were really hoping to try some. All that was left were sandwiches, small bites, cookies, and drinks. Despite the pastry disappointment, the new location itself is beautiful. It boasts tall ceilings and is set in what feels like a redeveloped industrial area near the bay. Parking was easy, which is always a plus, and the outdoor table turnover was quick. Even with ~10 people in line, it moved at a good pace, and we were able to grab a seat by the time we placed our order. We ended up sharing a breakfast sandwich, which was delicious. For drinks, we tried a blueberry lassi and the watermelon iced black tea. The iced tea was particularly refreshing and a personal favorite! We also grabbed a couple of cookies: the almond with jam and the black sesame. Everything we ordered was yummy, which certainly helped make up for missing out on the pastries. Overall, while the sold-out pastries were a bummer for our first visit to the new location, we still enjoyed the atmosphere and the items we did get to try. read more

Cute bakery shop and sandwiches. Got the chicken cutlet. Prices are a bit steep for sandwiches and coffee. 5% fee on top as well. Portion size is normal. Iced coffee was decent - $6. Overall a premium brunch spot next to padel courts. read more
This is a great new addition to the Dogpatch area, and it's awesome to see the acclaimed Breadbelly get a second location! They serve creative, pastries, not your typical run of the mill croissants and such. I've tried a lot here, but I find myself coming back for the Korean cornbread (gyeranbbang) and egg salad bunwich. I find quite a few of their drinks to be too sweet for my taste, but a Matcha latte is pretty solid. After having tried a lot of their pastries, even though the kaya toast (not bun) is a deservingly popular #1 choice for most, I find myself being happiest with their savory options. read more

I was surprised that they had opened up another location in Dogpatch, so I decided to go check it out with a friend. It's located inside a warehouse and was not the most welcoming for first impression. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, but they don't offer wifi and the server told us to ask the Bay Padel employee for that instead. Since they are right next to the pickleball courts, it's not the best environment to do work as it's hard to concentrate and does get loud. As for food and drinks, we went with the black sesame and matcha cappuccino, breakfast sandwich, and kaya toast. The drinks were disappointing, especially the black sesame cappuccino. It tasted burnt (may be due to over-extracted espresso) and not like black sesame like we were hoping. The matcha cappuccino was not strong enough for my liking and tasted a bit watery as well. The breakfast sandwich and kaya toast were good and we enjoyed it more than the drinks. Both were very filling and a good balance of flavors. Next time, I would want to try their coffee drinks and pastries that they have on display. read more
Woohoo!! The day has finally come! When the sign read "Opening this Summer", how awesome is it that they literally opened on the first day of summer! Currently open this weekend and next weekend as soft launch before officially opening on July 5th I was told. Breakfast sandwich was light and healthy. Kaya Toast is absolutely divine! The bread itself is a thick soft toast and the kaya spread is creamy and light. They are still testing out the selection for this location, compared to the original location on the other side of town in Richmond, but so far everything looks tempting already. This will be a hard competition for Neighbor Bakehouse just a block away. I didn't try their coffee but there are definitely interesting caffeinated options to try next time. Space is large and it is located in Pier 70 next to indoor Bay Padel courts in Dogpatch. There are a couple tables for Pier 70 seating outside. Street parking should not be too difficult in the area. read more
Well, I thought I gave a Breadbelly review but maybe I didn't so here it is again. What an amazing place! We went to the new one in the Dog patch at Pier 50 or something like that. The parking is OK not great but we were able to find a space the inside. The restaurant is so beautiful. The display cases are jam filled with the most beautiful things actually I shouldn't say jammed-- that sounds sloppy they're so neatly displayed, but they're very plentiful so I appreciated that we got a lot of things to have there to go including the Kaya bread, milk bread with the most fantastic butter I've ever tasted it was my favorite thing, breakfast sandwich, ham and cheese sandwich, shrimp sandwich, latte, which was so good, fresh squeezed orange and carrot juice so good. I couldn't believe how good the Basque cheesecake was. Oh my gosh we loved it. The service was impeccable. The guy that worked at the register was so kind a little bit hard to understand but really nice. We just loved it there and it was fun to watch the paddle Ballers. read more

It was a short line because of a rainy day really easy to order and very quick service. My colleagues and I enjoyed a wide variety of snacks and coffee and sat on the outdoor patio. This is my first time having bread belly--it was delicious! I would definitely recommend. read more

Bread belly is soooo good! I tried their seasonal mortadella and heirloom tomato sandwich and it was one of the best things I've eaten this year. The sandwich was light, refreshing, and filling at the same time. I used to go to their Richmond location, and I'm glad that they opened a location closer to me so that I can go more often! The Kaya toast is a must. I waited about 30 minutes on a Saturday morning - not too bad! read more

I get the hype. I've lived in San Francisco for 5 years and I'm fully aware that we have some of the best bakeries in the world, but Breadbelly has taken it to the next level with having such unique and flavorful treats. And on top of it all, they are just so beautiful. The kaya bun is the one I keep thinking about and am already planning a visit this week to go back for it. I also loved the Blueberry Croissant Tart. It's not often you can go to a bakery that totally crushes it both on sweet and savory. And has incredible baristas. The Clement Street location has great outdoor seating and the workers are so sweet. We went on a sunny day to pick up our large order and I wished we had time to enjoy the space a bit more. Anyway, don't sleep on on this spot. It's worth the hype and a great place to take visitors! read more

Cute little bakery in Dogpatch! Went early on a Sunday and they didn't really have a line. Got the Karl's cappuccino (4/5 - not too special or to my preference), Kaya bun (5/5), and mango passion fruit monkey toast (5/5 - really good). I wish they had more savory options though! read more

The Korean egg corn bread was a 9/10. Latte was 7.5. Cashier was very nice. Befuddled on why the waste was out on the curb with no compost option. I'll have to take it home myself. Would I come back, yes for the Korean bread. read more

Love the new location in dog patch. We went on a Saturday around 2PM and waited less than 15 mins for the food. We got the Kaya bun and Kaya Toast. The Kaya Bun had a cream filling in the middle that wasn't too sweet. The Kaya toast took around 15 minutes to make. It had Kaya spread with salt on the top. The salt definitely helped with the sweetness. read more
this spot is in a warehouse and everything felt spacious and near the water so the ambiance was kinda there but sort of empty feeling, staff were very kind and didn't wait too long for my food drink. kaya toast was nice, good balance of salty and sweet but I would probably share w someone as a lil snack. Would def recc the Kaya bun! The custard filling was super light and not too sweet. The gyeranbbang was a bit too eggy for my taste (but to be fair there is an entire hard boiled egg inside haha). It was a very cute spot for a Saturday morning pastry run! It's right near the water :) read more
Obsessed with Breadbelly! We checked out their new spot at Pier 70 love that it's so close to me now. The space has a super cool industrial vibe. Only thing I was sad about was not seeing their signature breakfast smash on the menu (my absolute favorite!). I'll definitely be making the trip back to the original location just for that, but still so excited to have this second spot open. Always a win with Breadbelly! Also be prepared to stand in a very long line. read more

Finally tried breadbelly!!! Kaya toast was divine. Buttery coconut pandan jam on perfectly toasted milk bread, topped with flaky salt. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. Also surprisingly not that heavy or sweet! This rating is largely based on the kaya toast because I would go again just for it in a heartbeat Gyeranbbang was good, egg & cheese on a muffin. Wish the egg was a bit softer, would prob try something else next time Matcha tasted like manresa's, very mild. I appreciated the matcha cappuccino option for less milk & more matcha. 8.2/10 read more

The kaya toast is good! A little too sweet for my taste, but was yummy! I like savory stuff more, so I really enjoyed the mushroom onion bun. The shrimp which was huge and delicious! The watermelon lychee drink was refreshing, but I personally wasn't a fan of the sisho leaf taste. A little on the pricier side, but great to try at least once! read more
Well, well, well! I'm so happy that this place opened up a location from Richmond to the Dogpatch! A little bit of a line, but the nice airy space made up for it, and to see all the beautiful savory and sweet treats. Expect a wait of 5-10 minutes since this just popped up. Cold brew and matcha are really good here; get it with oat milk! The berry croissant was so good, filled to the brim with berries and freeze-dried crumbles. My gyeran bread was a nice little Korean treat with an egg inside and a savory glaze. Get a pastry here and sit and watch the cargo ships go by! read more
