Portuguese Tart
Gabriella C.

I ordered thru the doordash app for pickup and it was ready for pickup rather quickly I did not like these pastries, the bread was dry and not moist on all of them, the Portuguese tart custard was not sweet and the crust around it was not crunchy just very plain no flavor of salty or sweetness. I was not also expecting how small it was smaller than the palm of my hand, could probably have eaten it in two bites if it was edible. I expected more sweetness in the mousse cake but it was nonexistent. Maybe their other pastries are edible ?‍

Got the strawberry cake, matcha with red bean, and 2 types of egg tarts. Not the best desserts I've ate but rating this place a 3 as I'm hoping that the buns I haven't tried would have more potential and the people there were nice. The 2 cakes I got were extremely dry and I would not be purchasing these two cakes again.

Rockville has plenty of great Asian bakeries that I frequent, so when I heard Bread Corner was reopening, a Taiwanese-style bakery I haven't been to before, I had to check them out! Here's all that we got: Hot Dog Bun Assorted Pineapple Milky Bun Coconut Raisin Japanese Curry Bread Roasted Pork Bun Shredded Pork Bun Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea We came on a Sunday morning, and everything was fresh and tasty~ There definitely is a good variety of sweet and savory pastries, more leaning towards the sweet. Shredded Pork Bun was nice in flavor, but a bit too much shredded pork and bread, to the point where it was quite dry to eat. It's a very small shop, so don't expect a lot of seating, it's more of a grab/pickup & go type place. Service is very friendly and accommodating though, speaking both English and Chinese. My favorites were the Pineapple Milky Bun, Japanese Curry Bread, & the Boba! I definitely will have to come back to try the other pastries & drinks.

A lowkey Asian bakery store hidden away next to a Popeyes. So glad that I found this place because it has some of the best Asian baked goods that I've had in a while. The store reminds me of when I was little, and how I would grab the tray and tongs and run around picking out my favorite breads to add to the ones my mom would buy. It has all the breads that you would expect to find, as well as cakes and other drinks that you can order. Really cool place, check it out if you're in the mood for some bread.

I came in in the afternoon yesterday, after stumbling upon it after leaving Tea Dynasty, and I noticed that most of their pastries have been sold out. However, I was still nostalgic and excited with what's left. I can tell this place is really popular amongst locals, so they're doing something right. I ended up getting two sponge cakes, a pineapple bun, and a roasted pork bun. I love that most of their pastries are individually wrapped, and if not, they do have tongs, trays and wax paper by the door for you to grab the items with. I'd recommend coming here early in the morning when they have everything, otherwise most items would be sold out for the day. It's definitely a game of finders keepers losers weepers, towards the end of the day. It's definitely a place I'd return to again, and I'd ensure I go early. I'd recommend it to anyone in the area looking for Asian pastries.

This is a cute little bakery shop, and the staff are welcoming and friendly! I love their Portuguese egg tarts, which are to die for!!! Thanks, Bread Corner, for making my sweet experience memorable! I will be back again, that's for sure!! :)

I will never stop coming to bread corner. I have been coming here for the past 10 years and it is my favorite. It is mostly self-serve with tongs and a basket and the place is relatively small so it gets packed easily. I would recommend the Portuguese egg tart over the regular egg tarts because I like the crispier look at the top. Although the line is long, it moves fast. It may be a bit harder to find since it is tucked away, but it is a hidden gem!

I must have gone at the wrong time of the day. Most of the shelves were empty and barren. The store requires mask to enter. I wouldn't mind trying their cakes but there's nowhere to sit down. I'll just go to Teamania instead because it supplies their items and they have nice seating area. Hoping to return again some other time to give it a better review.

I really like Bread Corner! This cute little Chinese/Hong Kong-style bakery offers various breads, cookies, pastries, and cakes. I tend to get the taro pastries and the egg tarts, but I am a fan of their pineapple short cakes - these little buttery bites are filled with pineapple jab - YUM! Service here is always super friendly and kind; it is a small place, so there may be a line outside where about 2 people are let in at a time. Plenty of parking in the plaza lot. +pineapple short cakes! +friendly service! +plenty of parking in the shared plaza lot

Adding a photo of the green tea mousse cake. Layer of green cake on the bottom, with green tea mousse layer on top. Yum!

The atmosphere is casual and inviting, with plenty of comfortable seating, including areas where you can sit and enjoy your drink with a friend. This was my first time there and I asked the person at the counter about their drinks since they were different than at other boba tea places I've frequented. I told him I like milk based teas and asked about their jasmine tea. He couldn't really explain the different tea flavors. Also wasn't very helpful, especially when I saw the jasmine tea was not milk based (after I had purchased it). I adjusted the sugar to 75%, but it needed more sugar. I also ordered the mango coconut cream drink for my daughter. I do appreciate they use real fruit and that it looked pretty but I really don't see what the hype is about. I didn't like my jasmine tea and my daughter, nor I, liked the mango coconut tea. Definitely not a fan ... won't be back.

Daboba offers an impressive variety of beverages, including Roasted Brown Sugar, Brown Sugar, Frappes, Shooting Star, Honey Golden Pearl, Pure Fresh Tea, Yogurt, Classic Milk Tea, Cheese Tea, and Fruit Tea. With so many options, there's something for just about every bubble tea lover! Fruity Party (0% Sugar, 50% Ice) - My fiancé ordered this refreshing drink, packed with assorted fresh fruits, including apples, mangoes, pineapples, and kiwis, along with coconut jelly and honey golden boba. It was naturally fruity, colorful, and delicious! Shooting Star (50% Sugar, 50% Ice) - I went with this beautiful and refreshing combination of butterfly pea, kumquat, and lemon tea with coconut jelly. The citrus flavors complemented the tea perfectly, creating a delightful balance of sweetness and tanginess. Both drinks were bursting with fruity flavors and were especially refreshing on a warm summer day. We also appreciated being able to customize the sugar and ice levels to our preferences. Overall, we had a wonderful first experience at Daboba! Between the extensive drink selection, fresh ingredients, and delicious flavor combinations, this was a fantastic spot to satisfy our bubble tea cravings. We can't wait to return and explore more of their menu!

My cup also wasn't filled all the way to the top, not sure why (is it because no ice?). For a drink that was almost $7 and very small, I don't know why they were stingy with that. My friend got the golden boba with roasted oolong milk tea. The flavor of the tea was amazing and the golden boba was perfectly chewy and had a bit of a honey flavor, really tasty. If I got his drink, I would've given this place 4 stars - maybe. The price / size of the drink combined with the cup not being filled wasn't very good.

Definitely a preference so try one before you go all in. The food itself was kind of hit or miss, but when it hit it really hit. The butter burger and fish balls were alright in my opinion. Some nostalgia, but overall nothing too fancy. The egg waffles were really cool, I got a pudding filled one, and I'm definitely a big fan. They had a lot of other options too for the egg waffle, I will be back to try others. Service: The service was average for a small shop, seems like there is only 1 person working when I got there so they were doing everything from taking orders to making the food. Depending on time of day it might take longer for your order to be ready. Ambiance: The inside was decorated well and had some fun elements near the front door. Aside from decorations the interior was pretty normal, some seating inside for groups of 4.

I don't know if they don't have a strong enough blender or if it just wasn't blended long enough but my drink came out super icy. The balance was also off. A good yogurt drink is a religious experience, and though I could tell this used fresh ingredients, it just didn't come out 'right'. IYKYK. There used to be this place in College Park that had a GOAT mango yogurt drink but sadly they mowed down the whole plaza and I don't think the shop found another location. I'm in mourning. Ding Cafe has a lot of other stuff on the menu and apparently artisanal ice cream, which had I been hungrier I might have tried. Unfortunately, it shares a plaza with Mia Cane which has really really good Vietnamese Ice Coffee, so if I come back earlier in the day when caffeine isn't verbotten...it's going to be hard to convince myself to try Ding again since it's easier to find good boba tea around here than good Cafe Sua De (sp). I'll likely come back to try the ice cream and / or other caffeine free drink options though and hopefully I find one that works better for me.
