    Fruit cake with strawberries
    Hali Y.

Really lovely little cafe selling cakes, patisserie, and drinks. I came to do a bit of work and grabbed the fruit cake and a hot latte, both were decent and the cake was not overly sweet. As I stayed for a while, I noticed many customers came and got goodies to go, their mango was very popular. The patisserie were all so pretty. There is 2 hour free parking right outside my n the street.

This place is in a new shopping center next to a highway exit that itself is fairly recent. Despite this, it's a crowded area and appears to have attracted some quality niche businesses. This dessert place offered an appealing selection of high-end Japanese cakes, and the one I got, a layered mix of matcha and yuzu (a tart orange kind of a thing) was as rich and flavorful as it looked. The menu was larger than I had time for, but it looked worth coming back.

    Double cheesecake Matcha mousse cake

Super cute interior/vibes! It's a really small space so not great for studying/working. The double cheesecake was so fluffy and light - and the most perfect level of sweetness. The matcha mousse cake's texture was interesting. Not sure if I enjoyed that too much. Loved how it was overall not too sweet. The service was pretty slow albeit friendly.

    Closed until September :(

They are closed until the end of August, we traveled all the way from Southern Maryland to try the TikTok fruit mousse cakes. We got a cute selfie anyway and hope to return in September.

My friend and I stopped by Pâte à Cake after lunch this past Saturday. We were hoping to find a tasty dessert, and we stumbled across this bakery/patisserie in Spectrum Town Center. Surprisingly, it was empty. The interior is pretty small, so I'm sure it's more of a grab-and-go place. I got an osmanthus tea for myself, which came in an instant tea bag and hot water. I was hoping the tea was more fresh, unfortunately. Also, the cup and lid was a bit messed up so I ended up spilling a lot of tea on the table and myself, rip. MATCHA MOUSSE - 5.95 (maybe 6.95) It was so aesthetic and pretty. The matcha mousse is a half sphere dome where one side was delicately sprinkled with matcha powder forming a spiral design. The taste? Even better. The mousse was incredibly smooth and creamy without being too sweet. The matcha flavor was strong and not too bitter. My friend and I shared this and enjoyed it greatly. I would definitely recommend the matcha mousse. Would love to stop by and try the other pretty pastries and cakes if I'm in the area.

Mango Mouse cake. Added the "happy 50th" sign from Amazon. Order a week in advance! They did a gorgeous job with packaging (not shown)!

My husband and I love going here for the bite sized mango mouse, so of course I had to get him a version of it for his big 5-0! They did a lovely job. So happy with how it turned out. The flavor is just fragrant enough without being too sweet. Perfection.

    Earl grey, matcha, strawberry
    Melody Y.

Earl grey: Strong earl grey flavor. It's a whipped and light desert. Matcha: Not a very strong matcha flavor but good overall. It's like a custard/mousse filling and isn't too sweet. Strawberry: Probably my favorite of the three. This one had the strongest flavor in my opinion. Light and airy custard/mousse filling.

Love this cute cafe. Their desserts are full of flavor despite the soft and fluffy texture. This was certainly a hit when we gave it as a birthday dessert. They packaged our desserts very carefully too which I appreciate. I would definitely come back to try their drinks next!

Finally they had sesame cake and I could get one. It was already packed in a box with a fork. The cake was small, just right for four people to share. It was mild and not sweet. We didn't feel heavy afterwards. Perfect !

10.13.22 I arrived on a Thursday evening 30 minute before closing time. Some of the pastries were completely out. I asked the staff what was most popular and he said the soy milk custard cake. I was hesitant as typically I am not a fan of soy milk. He also said that the Japanese Cheesecake was good, although I thought it was pricy given the size. He informed me that their pastries are not sweet. I let a customer get ahead of me since I was indecisive. I finally decided to be adventurous and go with the custard cake. It may look simple and unappealing to some, but surprisingly it was tasty. The custard was light and airy and the cake was moist. Also it made me feel better thinking that it may have been healthier than the other options. Lol. In addition to pastries, they also sell coffee and tea.

Lychee crepe, lime crepe, black sesame cake. $43 post tax

In the past year or so, I've visited this place roughly 10 times. Pate a Cake has never disappointed! This time, I tried the lychee crepe, lime crepe, and black sesame cake (see pics below). Needless to say, all of them are amazing! The lychee crepe: placing your fork through it is almost like knifing through hot butter. The texture on the fork and in the mouth is amazing! The touch of the lychee and flower at the top of each bite is incredible. The lime/matcha crepe (the owner told me it's their new item!) has the same ups as the lychee crepe. My mouth first tastes the tingling sour sensation of the lime at top and immediately gets balanced out with the creamy and rich sweetness of the cream and matcha at the bottom. Superb! The black sesame cake is out of this world. First off the texture is foamy/creamy black sesame encircling the almonds and an unknown cream. Each bite was tender and the taste was, once again, outta this worldddddddddddddddddd. $12 each for the crepe and $16 for the cake. A bit expensive but the taste is sooooooo worth it! I will go back for sure!

The owners are so kind! I definitely want to come here more often for celebratory desserts. Everything is so unique and a piece of art! The desserts are beautiful, delicious and not too sweet! We tried the following desserts: - matcha mousse - white chocolate mousse - chocolate mousse - earl grey cake box My favorite was the chocolate mouse and the earl grey cake box. They also have birthday cakes and wedding cakes.

    These are just gorgeous.

We stopped in here after a visit to Hot Pot Hero, next door. It was a great place for dessert afterwards. The bakery doesn't look like much from outside or as you walk in (I was actually momentarily confused as to if it was a bakery!), but you'll spot the display case in a moment. The cakes are beautiful, and just incredible to look at. But they taste even better. We split a chocolate chestnut piece, and I'm considering going back for a second. Absolutely delicious, and a good portion.

There's seating inside, but the seating area is pretty small and some people were at tables looking like they weren't going anywhere anytime soon. It was a nice morning, so we were able to grab an outside picnic table. The service was decent. One disappointment was when the counter person asked me if I wanted room for cream in my coffee, I said yes and asked if they had nondairy products. She said they had almond and soy. I asked for soy and she returned with my drink. When I went to pay, I saw they charged 79 cents for almond, soy and oatmilk. Ok. Here's the thing. I assume it's on the board and I should have looked, but she also could have mentioned it. Also, charging for these items when they put a little in your coffee leaves me feeling like I'm being abused for not being a dairy person. I get it - it's a pastry shop and the items are buttery and rich from cream. But please - 79 cents for a little soy milk? (I know this isn't uncommon for coffee shops, but it doesn't make it right.). And the coffee ($4.25) was decent - not great. I expected better (richer, more flavorful) coffee from a nice pastry shop like this. Anyway, it's a nice neighborhood place and there's a lot of treats there.

A server at the restaurant recommended Juno Bakery and confidently declared it the place for dessert in Frederick. Spoiler alert: She was right! I arrived at Juno on a beautiful June Saturday afternoon and the place was PACKED. It was actually hard to get back to the bakery cases because there were so many people happily loading up on sweet treats. While waiting for traffic to clear, I took a look around. The front of the bakery features several tables right beside huge plate-glass windows overlooking downtown Frederick. I immediately loved the idea of sitting in the sunshine, watching the world go by while shoving cake into my face. My kind of afternoon. I also appreciated Juno's hours. For a small bakery, they're impressive! 8am - 8pm Monday through Saturday and 9am - 6pm on Sundays. That kind of schedule makes spontaneous dessert side quests much easier. Eventually I made my way to the display cases and was blown away. Croissants, cookies, pastries, macarons, eclairs, savory items, cakes...so many beautiful things to choose from! Since I'd never been to a Korean bakery before, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. But I knew I was feeling cake. I posted up in front of the single-slice cake case, evaluated my options, and came to a perfectly rational conclusion. One slice? No. Two slices? Also no. Three slices? Now we're talking. Look, I didn't know what I'd like. I wasn't about to stand in line all over again if my first choice wasn't "the one." Surely I'd love at least one of them, right? I ordered a slice of the Carrot Cake ($6.60), a slice of the Blueberry Yogurt Cake ($5.99) and one of the mini Blueberry Cheesecakes ($7.55). My total with tax came to $21.35 and it was worth every penny! I asked to eat there and was handed paper plates and directed to the utensil station near the trash cans. I also overheard another customer being told that the restroom code was printed on paper receipts. Since I'd opted for an electronic receipt (no thanks to paper receipts!), I had to ask for the code separately. Not a huge deal, just a bit odd given that they offer electronic receipts. There are signs on the restroom doors explaining the process, but it's one of those little quirks worth mentioning. Armed with my three desserts and zero shame, I claimed a sunny table by the window and settled in. First up, the Carrot Cake. Dense. Super moist. Not overloaded with frosting, which I actually appreciated, much to my surprise, and absolutely delicious. It let the cake itself do the talking. Next came the Blueberry Yogurt Cake. This one was lighter and fluffier, with rich frosting and filling layered between. Best of all, it actually tasted like blueberries instead of just generic sweetness. The blueberry flavor screamed, "HEY! I'M A BLUEBERRY!" and I appreciated that. Then came the Berry Cheesecake. Oh. My. Goodness. This thing was rich, dense, and absolutely fabulous. It felt like eating an entire miniature cheesecake in slice form, which, honestly, is one of life's great joys! By the end of this little dessert extravaganza, I had consumed every single crumb of all three slices. Every. Single. Crumb. I had worried I might not love one of them. Turns out I had absolutely nothing to worry about. I still can't pick a favorite! Would I go back to Juno Bakery? Absolutely. Would I order three desserts again and demolish them like an absolute champion while sitting in the sun watching downtown Frederick live its life outside the window? Without hesitation. And now that I've discovered Juno Bakery, any trip close enough to Frederick just might require a mandatory dessert detour!
