My friend and I stopped by Pâte à Cake after lunch this past Saturday. We were hoping to find a tasty dessert, and we stumbled across this bakery/patisserie in Spectrum Town Center. Surprisingly, it was empty. The interior is pretty small, so I'm sure it's more of a grab-and-go place. I got an osmanthus tea for myself, which came in an instant tea bag and hot water. I was hoping the tea was more fresh, unfortunately. Also, the cup and lid was a bit messed up so I ended up spilling a lot of tea on the table and myself, rip. MATCHA MOUSSE - 5.95 (maybe 6.95) It was so aesthetic and pretty. The matcha mousse is a half sphere dome where one side was delicately sprinkled with matcha powder forming a spiral design. The taste? Even better. The mousse was incredibly smooth and creamy without being too sweet. The matcha flavor was strong and not too bitter. My friend and I shared this and enjoyed it greatly. Also I thought the portion size was extremely small given the price that was being charged. They have counter service. There is a small eating area. We chose to eat outside because it was extremely cold inside but I imagine if they had the right environment and timing sitting outside would be just great because of the live music that was playing. I did not use their bathroom I'm not sure if they have that available. Parking is on the street and in a lot which is also free. I was hesitant as typically I am not a fan of soy milk. He also said that the Japanese Cheesecake was good, although I thought it was pricy given the size. In the past year or so, I've visited this place roughly 10 times. Pate a Cake has never disappointed! This time, I tried the lychee crepe, lime crepe, and black sesame cake (see pics below). Needless to say, all of them are amazing! The lychee crepe: placing your fork through it is almost like knifing through hot butter. The texture on the fork and in the mouth is amazing! The touch of the lychee and flower at the top of each bite is incredible. The lime/matcha crepe (the owner told me it's their new item!) has the same ups as the lychee crepe. My mouth first tastes the tingling sour sensation of the lime at top and immediately gets balanced out with the creamy and rich sweetness of the cream and matcha at the bottom. Superb! The black sesame cake is out of this world. First off the texture is foamy/creamy black sesame encircling the almonds and an unknown cream. Each bite was tender and the taste was, once again, outta this worldddddddddddddddddd. $12 each for the crepe and $16 for the cake. A bit expensive but the taste is sooooooo worth it! The bakery doesn't look like much from outside or as you walk in (I was actually momentarily confused as to if it was a bakery!), but you'll spot the display case in a moment. We finally stopped by this place. Everything looked too pretty to eat. The staff was very friendly, pleasant, and knowledgeable. We got: Japanese Cheesecake - different than normal cheesecake and much better. Crumble cake (?) - layered with cake and cream, topped with some cereal, nuts, and raisin. It's pretty quiet in the early afternoon and we were the only customers there half an hour after opening. The delightful displays house a wide variety of delicate mousses and beautiful desserts. However, from the pictures, I had expected the mousse to be larger in real life. Regardless, we ordered the Triple Chocolate Cake and the Matcha Mousse and were very satisfied with our selections! The Triple Chocolate Cake had a soft and fluffy sponge topped with smooth dark chocolate. The three people who tried this cake gave it a 4.3, 4.5, and 4.6 out of 5, but overall, it was delicious and didn't make us feel guilty after consuming it! When trying the Matcha Mousse, we were greeted by a very silky texture along with a fresh matcha taste. We gave it scores of 4.5, 4.6, and 4.8! Once again, we were extremely pleased that it was not too sweet but was slightly disappointed that the mousse itself was pretty small. We definitely want to return in the future to eventually try everything on the menu! Based on the price, it's more of a "once in a while" treat, but we're willing to pay a little extra for desserts suitable for our sugar preference! This is an unbelievably cute little cafe with super cute baked goods. It exceed any expectations I had for a small bakery located in the ground floor around apartments off 355. First off, Pâte à Cake can be found in the Spectrum Town Center off of Paramount Park drive, near Firebirds and Barking Mad Cafe.The area is kinda quiet and dead, and parking is easy to find. The inside is so adorable, kind of something you expect to find in a more urban area. The small tables were spaced apart the inside would have room for at most six people. I came in for carry out at around 1pm but maybe in a non pandemic time, I could hang here. I ordered a slice of the passionfruit layer cake (approximately $9); it could have rivaled any of the amazing layer cakes I have had in NYC at Lady M. Light, fluffy with and not too sweet. Even you see this and it's not sold out, get it! I also ordered the individual mousses that were shaped like the fruit themselves: peach; strawberry and mango ($6), you may have seen these on like everyone's instagram. They are too cute to eat but please do. They are light and creamy. The strawberry was the most flavorful to me. The red velvet cupcake was pure perfection too ($3), not sticky sweet and they icing wasn't heavy. But the best thing for me is the butterfly dream ($6.50). I still have no freaking clue what is in this tea drink with jelly. The super friendly cashier tried explaining it to me, and I didn't follow. I went full Violet Beauregard and just wanted the purple drink in the display case. Here's the thing, the drink starts off as layered. They add sparking water and lemon on top of blue jelly and it starts as a blue and clear drink, then they advice you to stir the drink and hold it up to the light. It gradually gets to change color to a light blue and then a stunning purple. It's fruity and so good. I still can't describe the flavor. It tastes purple. I visited this spot twice and on both occasions I was smiling after eating one or more of their desserts. On my first visit I got Strawberry Mousse - it looks like a pretty rose (flower) with the gold tip on top. Once I bit into it, I could taste the strawberry and it was so light. My other dessert was the Mango Cake Cup (think mango mousse, cake, cream, fresh mango (perfection) - I devoured it. I visited a second time, however I got there too early in the morning (close to when they opened) - there was not as much items available and in conversation they mentioned they would have more choices around the afternoon, so I came back at 1pm (actually I was still in the area). My second visit I got a Red Velvet Cupcake which is normally rich when you get it at other places. Here, it was just right - not overly sweet and not too rich. This place just opened up in the new section near Barking Mad Cafe, Hot Pot, and Apple Cleaners. It has plenty of parking around. Never had any issues there. There is parallel parking for quick access. They have parking in the back and a bigger general parking lot adjacent to the strip - just cross minor road. It is also situated near the new Exit 12 on 270. They are going through their soft opening and when we saw the photos online, we had to try some. We got the green tea cake and the mousse as well as the white peach drink. The green tea cake has a strong green tea matcha taste. The inside is a regular cream and it has a good consistency. It is lighter in taste, which is much better than a heavier feeling. The aesthetics is great. Although you would have to destroy it to eat it, it was nice to look at it for a while. The Mousse was very delicate and light. The shape is what makes it unique. The flavor wasn't very strong and it was hard to get the flavor to come out while tasting slowly. I would wish it had more flavor in it - not sugar. My drawback was the drink. It was pretty good. The cup was nice. It seemed like there was either a milk/cheese cap on the top. Looks like fresh white peach on the bottom. The issue I think is the price. It was what appears to be a medium sized drink and it was priced at $6.50. I was expecting more. Still a good drink, just a tad too expensive for what I had. I tend to drink fast so the drink disappeared in a minute. I think by the time I walked to my car, I was about 75% done. Inside wasn't grand. It has about 6 small tables. They do practice social distancing for now with signs on where to stand. The inside looks nice and may be a good place to relax with a friend. If it gets filled, it might be a hassle in maneuvering around. However, take out seems to be ideal. read more

I came close to closing but was pleasantly surprised almost everything was still in stock. If you're worried, they keep their website up to days with inventory and you can order ahead there as well. No seating area, but the bakery is clean and well decorated. I got the fresh fruit cake, burnt cheesecake, and oreo cake box. The burnt cheesecake was phenomenal- I've never had anything like it and thought the slight bitterness from the burnt top as well as the osmanthus cream were the perfect complements to the not-to-sweet cheesecake. The fresh fruit cake was very mediocre and the oreo cake box was far too sweet, which were big disappointments given the price of all their pastry items. I have to give them 3/5 stars since I would only repurchase one out of the three items I tried. The don't have their own outdoor seating but directly across the street there is a bunch of tables and umbrellas open to everyone! The butterfly pea drink taste like lemon soda. The mousses are soo cute but are pricey for the size. They are quite tiny and go for about $6 each, which is a lot for just mousse. A mini japanese cheesecake is about $12. I think they should adjust their prices based on other cafes. They seem to have different items each time I go in and a seasonal drink menu, so I'm excited to try the new flavors they put out. I got the soymilk custard cake, which I thought was a pretty good balance between the layers of cake, the custard, and the soy flavor. You can definitely taste and smell the soy, but it's not overpowering, and overall, it's not too sweet. As for the drink, I got the earl grey milk tea.
