What a cute new Hong Kong bakery in Kentlands! I saw on their Instagram that they do custom cakes as well! Their lava cakes (I got pistachio and chocolate) are so delicious! It might be the best fluffy not too sweet Asian cake I've ever had! The HK milk tea is very delicious as well. Their egg tarts go fast so get there early before their first batch is gone and you have to wait.

Pistachio Iced Coconut Latte

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and was immediately assisted. The spot was cute, very clean and well organized. Beautiful case filled with really yummy looking desserts. I ordered the Pistachio Coconut Iced Latte and was quite disappointed. For a $8 drink it wasn't too special, the pistachio flavoring was spread throughout the cup (not mixed in), so flavor wise I could barely taste the pistachio unless I'm scrapping the side of the cup and with that, you're just getting clumps of pieces. Definitely not a great experience and was quite disappointed.

I really liked this cafe! We wanted something sweet after lunch so I'm glad this was nearby! We got an iced matcha latte with oat milk, pistachio coconut latte, & a cocoa soy milk custard parfait. Everything was lovely & not too sweet. I also enjoyed the vibe of cafe. We would definitely come back to try the other drinks & sweets!

5/5 recommend checking this place out! We went at 3 pm and many of the desserts were sold out but still were able to try out several options. We got an egg tart, soymilk mochi cream cake, and Dubai chocolate parfait for desserts. For drinks, we got a matcha latte with panna cotta. We were told when ordering that the Dubai chocolate parfait would take 10 mins which was fine with us. Everything tasted yummy and I'm definitely looking to come back and try other items on the menu :) As for parking, there's street parking outside. It wasn't hard to park because neighboring businesses were closed.

The interior of the store was nicely decorated and there's plenty of street parking outside. We came around 2 pm on a Sunday and a lot of the pastries/drinks were not available (including the HK style milk tea that I really wanted to try). We decided to get the Portuguese egg tart since we watched them bring out a fresh tray and the Dubai chocolate parfait, which were both delicious and not too sweet. For drinks, we got the black milk tea with panna cotta and the sparkling strawberry drink. The milk tea came in a cute bottle, but as for taste it was just alright. The sparkling drink was refreshing. I would come again earlier in the day to try the Hong Kong milk tea and more of the pastries if they are available!

Pineapple Bun

When I first found out about this place opening, my inner child was beyond excited. I grew up having certain hong kong classics and the only place I knew I could enjoy these classics was in NYC Chinatowns. There have been a few places that attempted to serve these classics, but they were short of the actual flavor. At first, I had to reel in my expectations as I didn't want to be disappointed but this place definitely did not disappoint. The pineapple bun was airy and fluffy while the topping was flaky and crunchy without being overbaked. They also offer the butter slice which had I not gone so late, I probably would have gotten. These buns sell fast so make sure to go early in the day, I luckily got the last one of the day. Their milk tea and lemon tea sparked many memories. The lemon tea was not as sweet as the ones from my childhood (probably better that it isn't as sweet) but it was still very delicious and took me back to the days of having lunch in the hong kong cafes with my mom. The milk tea reminded me of the ones I used to get in the summers when I would visit my mom or the freshly made hot ones I would get in the winters to pair with my breakfasts in the city. The cafe is tucked along the backside of Kentlands near the townhomes. The interior is cutely decorated with pastels and brightly lit. There is not much seating available but it is a nice space to have afternoon tea with a friend or on a bright sunny day to sit in the window and "sunbathe" while enjoying some not too sweet pick me ups. They also offer custom cakes too. Love that they have opened and wish I could frequent the space more often.

This is a cute HK style bakery in the Kentlands. The egg tart is quite high quality, sizable and they keep it warm. The pineapple bun came out fresh from the oven 10 minutes after opening and it was so warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and best of all, not too sweet. Note a lot of their desserts are not ready yet at opening so come a little later if you want those.

I've been here a few times now and have enjoyed all the pastries I have ordered. This includes the pineapple bun, egg tart, cheese snow mountain bread, black thunder artisan (chocolate-filled) bread, and Hong Kong-style milk tea. The main thing for me is that they are not overly sweet! The egg tarts were warm, flaky, and thick. The pineapple bun was fresh and perfect- I will definitely come back to try the ones with butter next time! Some of the desserts and cakes are not always ready when the bakery is open at 12:30 pm, as they are made to order or just being made, but it is nice knowing they are freshly baked!

Mango Pomelo Sago Lava Cake
Yoo C.

I tried the mango pomelo sago lava cake, it was fluffy and flavorful. It was a soft cake with sago, mango, and pomelo on top with cream and a little mango sauce in the middle. Also I got the strawberry latte with panna cotta, it tasted very fresh and healthy along with the panna at the bottom! I did find the prices on the expensive side but it was a good one time experience. It was cute inside along with cute custom napkins but it only three tables so I think most people either order ahead since there's limited supplies or take it to-go.

I was so excited to see that they finally have their own brick and mortar storefront on social media and was so excited to finally check them out. For those of you who may not know, Ed started off his business baking in his house and did a lot of custom cake order and pick up for whatever bread he made that day which is how I found about him initially as his cakes were THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD and some of the coolest most intricate designs ever, so I'm so incredibly happy to see them move up finally and own their own storefront. Now this is the true definition of mom and pop shop as when I came in to visit I ended up talking with the lady cashier in the front, who told me that she was actually the wife and her husband's name is Ed who does all the baking and decorating in the back. They're both two incredibly sweet and kind people and only have a limited inventory of fresh baked products and drinks daily that sell super well and fast (so my advice is try to go earlier on in the day if possible). They also can do fresh made to orders that they have listed, like the strawberry bomb cake but depending on how many orders for cakes he has for the day and how busy they are with other things (since remember it's just the husband that does all the baking and decorating) is how long it would take to make these fresh to made orders. Some days they do close this option if the husband just has too many orders backed up. The cakes and any pastries he makes for the day are so worth the price (even though some of them can get quite expensive)! If you have ever tried a Korean or Chinese bakery, this shop is like the perfect combination of the two. The desserts are never overly sweet (this is due to the fact that many Asian people aren't a huge fan of sweets and actually prefer less sweetness when it comes to their pastries), the cakes are super soft, airy and fluffy (similar to a soufflé), and the intricate flavor profiles he comes up with for all his desserts. He can also create any cake design your heart desires and can almost recreate any inspiration photo you have. They also have a lot of different pictures of past cakes they've made on the tv screen inside the store so you can better get an understanding of what you want as well. Love this place, definitely worth checking out for all your baked good needs!

Milk tea with the cutest to go bag

This is a cute little bakery/bubble tea shop that's in an area with plenty of parking. There were a couple of tables with seats if you wanted to have a cute little meet up with a friend or two. I want to give it a 3.5 stars, but I don't have that option. I'm sure because of the time of day, a lot of the baked goods were already sold out so I only got 1 thing to try. But I did order the milk tea! It was pretty darn good compared to a lot of other bubble tea shops in the area. I also ordered the tiramisu basque cheesecake, which was ok. It tasted like a regular cheesecake with a layer of light and airy tiramisu cream. I would recommend being careful when you eat it, there is about a teaspoon of cocoa powder on top, if you inhale while eating you may choke a bit (speaking from experience). The server was really nice, but I think she potentially became overwhelmed with the orders coming in, because she forgot my strawberry milk tea. I ordered it and she told us to wait a bit since it would come from the back kitchen but after 20 mins and seeing other people get their drinks, I asked her about it. And she seemed to not remember and double checked my bag to see if I ever got the drink, which is a bit silly because I sat in front of her the whole time not eating/drinking as I waited for this one drink. I was told that the strawberry milk tea was pretty darned good though, so I'll take their word for it.

I popped in shortly after they opened to try some sweets. I had a hard time choosing but settled on a matcha cream cake and the cheese tart. Once we got the containers open (adorable and sturdy but it was a struggle!), we dug in. They were heavenly. Light, fluffy, and not too sweet. They're a welcome addition to the neighborhood!

food : we got the black milk tea with panna cotta and soy milk cake. Both were absolutely delicious and iconic Chinese desserts / drinks. Not overly sweet, but tasty at the same time. Service: it is ran by a couple, and service was good for the most part. Unfortunately, you would have to ask for forks / paper towels and there isn't water. Ambiance: I love love love the interior design of the shop, it has unique style and the branding is really good!

The frosting used on the outside and the cream used on the inside was not the fluffy and soft kind we liked and was not similar to the other cakes from this bakery that we liked. It tasted like hard butter and unfortunately we had to throw out the entire cake since everyone refused to eat more than the first bite. My husband asked the employee if this was a vanilla sponge cake and they said yes since he cannot eat chocolate cake. Unfortunately once we cut it, it was chocolate. It was a waste of $50+ and would not recommend unless you're just purchasing for pictures and not to eat. The mango and strawberry croissants were good with sweet whipped cream. I liked how the cream also tasted like mango in the mango croissant. The sweet pretzel was also good and crunchy. The inside of the store is nice with plenty of tables. I also liked how there were a lot of outlet spaces.

At 11:07, I looked into the store and saw movement although the lights were still turned off. The staff member saw me and came to the door. She informed me that they had a last-minute catering request and she needed about 15 minutes before opening the door. She said that if I could come back in 15 minutes that she would offer me a discount. When I returned 15 minutes later, I told her I wanted to order a cinnamon roll. She said that I didn't have to wait earlier if I was just ordering a cinnamon roll. However, she did not ask what I was ordering during our earlier interaction. So that means that I waited for nothing. At the very least, she should have apologized for the inconvenience that I experienced and since I used the Groupon offer, I was not offered anything for waiting. Also, if there is a last-minute catering request, that should not affect the opening of the store. I was disappointed with the service that I received. The only redemption was that the cinnamon roll was really good. I ordered a customized roll with cream cheese, coconut, caramel sauce, Oreo, and pie crumble. It was divine and worth every calorie.

The response I eventually received said they were conducting an internal investigation and reviewing camera footage. Before hearing back, I also called the store. I was on hold for about 10 minutes and ultimately just left my contact information. During that call, I was told that in-store customers were the priority. When I expressed frustration after trying to follow up multiple times, the employee told me she "did not like my attitude." At this point, I've tried addressing this in person, by email, and by phone, and still don't have a resolution. I have not received a refund, a call back, or any follow-up about the investigation. Overall, the handling of this situation has been disappointing.
