Monday 2/17/25 I've seen this spot a few times while reviewing spots in the area, but now I've finally taken the opportunity to try it. Also, this would be one of my first times visiting a Persian /Iranian based bakery. Upon entering the shop, you are met with a great aroma of all the baked goods they have. The customer service was very good: my mom was given a free tea for her visit, and so was I, but I respectfully declined (I don't drink tea often). Also, they give you free samples of 3 of their sweets: raisin cookie, 2oolbia, and "bummie" (fried dough balls). I got the Persian small ice cream $4 and a near pound of assorted pastries (fruit roulette, fruit cake, chocolate roulette, plain roulette, eclair, Napoleon, Turkish baklava, Greek baklava, and Persian baklava) for $19.19. - The Persian ice cream was a brand new experience for me and became the most memorable. The taste from the white center made it a decent experience. - The most notable baked goods would be the roulettes, as the cream was quite enjoyable. - Ranking baklavas: Persian and Turkish tied while Greek is last. I recently purchased a cake. It was extremely dry, smelling and selling stale cakes, the owner. Nazi is a very nasty woman. Very bad attitude does not admit that the cake wasn't fresh. It was dry and stale. I took it for a birthday and nobody could eat that . This business needs to close with this kind of bad attitude. It is very very very disappointing. They are not ready to work with you. Nazi was yelling and screaming at me saying that her cake is good, and I am wrong. I will not recommend anyone to buy their products. This Persian bakery, hands down is the best Persian bakery in Washington DC metro area. The fresh pastry "rolet" is the best ! I ordered my dad's birthday cake from this place and all guests found it to be "the best" cake they have ever tried. I highly recommend ordering a cake for your next special event (when ordering request fresh strawberries to be included in the filling :) I also love their Greek baklava. Not to mention the best saffron ice cream and Persian Falloodeh . Sooo yum. The owner is also very sweet and offers customers with complimentary tea / sweets. A must try read more

They have delicious homemade rolets (swirl cake) with fresh whipped cream, raisin cookies, baklava, jalebi, cream puffs, and drumroll...Iranian saffron ice cream! They sell nuts and candy as well. I travel to Dubai and the Middle East often so I have had very authentic Persian sweets, and this...is not that. However, if you are in the Rockville area and do not want to travel to Bethesda you can make due here. Unfortunately, the owner and her family are extremely rude. They believe they are doing God's work selling you some Guz or Suhan. And here is the kicker, they don't even make them in house from scratch. They purchase from a distributor (I think in California who gets it from Iran) and then resell it. Next time you are their just pick up one of their packaged goods, flip it over, and read. I believe the only thing they make in house are those God awful dry sponge cakes and the Baklava. The worst thing, they literally speak about their customers right in front of them. I speak a tiny bit of "farsi" as I work for DHS. I am not sure if they speak about me, but I have heard them make fun of customers for being White. What kind of horrible way to treat customers, even if they cant understand? If you are looking for a decent cake in Montgomery County, check out Stella's Bakery or Classic Bakery. Just walked in on Mother's Day to explore and saw they had cream puffs filled with fresh cream (amazing!) and the lady there was so kind! We went to pay for one cream puff and she refused to take our money and instead handed my 1 year old a delicious raisin cookie. read more

We happened to be in the area when my father randomly reached into his bag and pulled out a Farsi newspaper with an ad for this place. Google mapped it and found out it was five minutes away so we stopped by to stock up. They have all the Persian goodies you'd want from a bakery, as well as some extra things to make like fesenjan, tea, etc. They also had a refrigerator with saffron ice cream and some other cold desserts. Drinks are also in a cooler, ranging from your regular American fare to chilled doogh. We bought a pound of sweets, specifically the cream rolls with chocolate and fruit on top, quite a bit of boxes of nuts, and Persian cookies. The woman offered us some samples to try, I grabbed a piece of the zulbia (aka jalebi) and thought it was a bit sweet. Our total came to $75, a big box/pound of the pastries was $15 alone. read more

A client brought in a box of assorted goodies, some familiar and others new to me. Such a delicious treat. I truly enjoyed the variety of cookies and the fact that there were very sweet options and more subtle options. The raisin cookies and Lebanese baklava were delicious. The jalebis were very sweet but I'm glad I tried at least one, same with what looked like little funnel cakes - unfortunately I do not recall the name. I have had a desperate craving for baklava lately and was looking for someplace local to try. This little shop is hidden away right off of Rockville pike in a small shopping center. When I walked in there were some Persian grandmas chatting in the corner so you know it was gonna be the real deal. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and pleasant and quickly helped me get a pound of 3 different types of baklava that I so craved! I will attach a picture of the wedding cake I had asked. I had asked if they were able to do this cake exactly like the picture. I only asked for less flowers in the top tier. I was told they would be able to do it. On my wedding day this is what I was shown. I was heart broken. We paid $450 for a cake that looked like a kid piped icing on it. It was embarrassing to have to accept that cake for my wedding day. I had no choice but to take it since the wedding was a few hours away. I will never forgive this place for ruining my cake for one of the most special days of my life. If they knew they were unable to complete the cake They should have been honest! I could have gone elsewhere to make sure I got the cake i always wanted for my wedding day. I'm glad my family and friends made me feel a lot better about the cake. But please do not trust this business with any cake. Do not give them the chance to ruin a celebration of yours. I even sent the reference picture the day before when the owner asked for me. And then she claimed I sent it too late I SENT IT 4 MINUTES after she called asking for it and I had the proof of the time as well. Wow some of these reviews are spot on in regards to the poor service. I came in with my incredibly cute 1 year old who was waving at the older lady and younger cashier, not so much a smile from either of them. Minus a star. It was pretty clear I was out of place when I walked in but received no guidance as to what the heck they were selling. No need for me to repeat what others said, but The cookies and baklava were decent. No idea what the sugary balls dunked in rose water were called but I liked them. Minus another 2 stars for the price. $9.50 for a tiny box of cookies/baklava? I picked out 6 tiny bite sized things from that display case. I'm sorry, but there are a lot of inexpensive amazing food in that plaza (buns, empenadas, Sichuan food, ceviche!). I the stickers on the box says they've been in business since the 80s which I guess is considered ancient in this area. Maybe they added a few dollars for that fact. read more

Double check the prices and your receipt!!!!!!!!!! Great baklava!! My problem Comes with the price and the fact that I feel like I'm getting scammed. My Wife purchased baklava ($19/lb) and bamieh ($15/lb). The baker places both items into one container and weighs them. When my wife asked how pricing works and the baker says that when you order baklava along with another item, they place them in the same box and you pay the price for the more expensive item. (Example: 1 lb of bamieh plus a few baklava, you'll pay $19/lb for everything instead of the $15/lb for the bamieh plus whatever the baklava weighs). THIS MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE!!! I feel disrespected and scammed. This was our second visit to this place and the since there are no price tags on the bakery items, I assumed that everything was the same price and didn't question it when she placed all items in the same container during my first visit. We randomly walked into the bakery to see what Yasaman had to offer and were pleasantly surprised! The bakery is filled with all sorts of traditional and cultural (Middle-Eastern) pastries, tarts, cakes, cookies, and even nuts. The cashier seemed standoff-ish at first. She said I could not sample an almond (I think it was spicy lemon?), but I thought she misunderstood me so I asked again and was told no. Maybe she still misunderstood, but I did not ask a third time. I looked at the sweets and she asked if I wanted to try a sample. I did take one of the rounded sweets that tasted like rose-water, but did not like it since it was drenched in syrup and way too sweet. I wanted to try what looked like a regular chocolate chip cookie, but the sample tray was taken off of the counter, so I felt awkward asking for it. I decided to buy five of the heart-shaped almond cookies. They even had some sort of jelly or paste in-between the cookies (so basically they were sandwich cookies) and were elegant and tasty. The cashier did honor my 10% off from the Yelp Check-in without any issues so it made up for the stinginess on the samples. read more

a Persian bakery in the best little international strip mall on Rockville Pike (barring the IHOP Pancake place) to give you Persian cookie joy, great cakes, authentic rose-water laced Persian sweets, and baklava! I walked in enticed by the amazing displays of cookie trays, so different from the standard oversized and oversugared American varieties like chocolate chip and oatmeal. The cookies are small and I thought I would serve them on a doilie with cups of tea. The bite sized cookies are delicately flavored, some pasted together with apricot jam, some topped with an almond, or sprinkled with delicate poppy seeds. They are a real delicate treat. Of course the jalebis are amazing--the deep fried light rounds dipped in a sugary-rose-water infused syrup. The owner is a lovely Persian matron who offers you samples for free. This lovely Persian bakery offers sweet alternatives to many of the traditional desserts we are accustomed to. We chose the saffron ice cream sandwiches. They managed to concentrate the saffron flavor, and pair it with a little sweetness and a lot of creaminess. However, the wafers that hold the ice cream had lost their crispness. So I would suggest buying the ice cream in a tub. If you are looking for crunch, spoon it onto a cone or a wafer just before eating it. Our other choice was chocolate pistachio halavah. Theirs was a nice example of this addictive confection. Plenty of other options await sampling when you tire of same old same old. read more

Best Authentic Persian pastry I've had in the U.S. so far. I tried different varieties of their pastry. They are all delicious and fresh, comparable to the best bakeries in Tehran like Ladan or Shirin. I strongly recommend. Their signature in my opinion is Roulette. Shirini-Zaboon is really good, too. I didn't like their Napoleon that much, though. It could have been a little bit crunchier. read more

We just asked for an assortment of the sweets they had behind the glass, and the young lady working was very helpful and nice, apparently not what you get with the older lady who works here. I used to live in MD and Yasaman Bakery was my favorite place to buy the most amazing pastries, exotic nuts and their fruit cakes were one-of-kind!! I moved to NJ a few ago and there's nowhere that offers anything remotely similar. I finally made a trip home today to visit family and my first stop was Yasaman Bakery. I was thrilled to see it was still open and I was warmly greeted by the owner who built the business from scratch! To my shock she remembered me and even knew which pastries I used to buy YEARS AGO!! I would have loved to try out some of the baked goods if it had not been for the abominably ATROCIOUS and UNBELIEVABLY RUDE "service" we got upon entering the shop. We walked in, looked at the baked goods in the display case, and waited for someone, anyone, (Bueller?) to approach us about our order. This older woman was in the back on her cellphone. She sees us and proceeds to walk toward us slowly, taking her time, making no effort to get off her phone. Trying to be nice and thinking "hey, maybe she's on the phone with another customer, you know, on her personal cellphone", we wait patiently for her to get off the phone but SHE NEVER DOES. We even go so far as to say "we're ready to order when you're finished" and she continues to ignore us. No "hello", no "I'm sorry, I'll be right with you", NOTHING. NADA. ZIP. ZILCH. She finally asks us (while STILL on the phone, mind you) "what kind of box do you want" and we ask for the smallest one. We then start pointing and asking her for the items we want and then *HERE IT COMES* she irritably barks at us saying, "can't you see I'm on the phone?" WOW. ARE. YOU. KIDDING. ME. We walked out at that point, pissed beyond belief at the deplorably rude treatment. I am NOT wasting my money on a store that treats its customers like garbage. I am half Persian (Iranian) and I am underwhelmed with the number of reviews of For-Irani-By-Irani (FIBI, trademark pending) businesses. Moby Dick is delicious, but Persians are not all about kabobs and rice. No, we Persians like to also eat pastries (Shirini) too. Many varieties of shirini will appear similar to ones you might see in a European bakeries. Some will not. Yasaman has a good selection of the latter, I will list a few for the adventurous non-Persians: -Ard Nokhodchi: chickpea flower cookies that are clover/flower shaped and very dense. -Keshmeshi: cookie with raisins -Zulbia/Bamiyeh: it is basically fried flour, yogurt, and sugar. They look like orange squiggles or gooey balls. They taste like crunchy honey. Yasaman also stocks some other flaky pastries and they have cakes too. The store is a little outdated looking and spread of goods is crammed and pretty small. However, their quality is consisted and ranges from average to slightly above average. I suggest going in and trying 1-2 of the things that interest you. They're a good bakery for the area, but as usual, if you want the best stuff you gotta go to Tehran. read more

I'll preface my review by saying that I'm Persian and my mother is an amazing baker, so I have very high standards when it comes to Persian sweets. Yasaman, unfortunately, misses the bar by A LOT - I'm talking a whole heck of a lot! Let's start with their fruit cakes, which is pretty much their signature cake. You can get it as a large round cake, rectangular cake, or even by the slice (tiny rectangular portion). I've detested this fruit cake since I was a child and I first tried it. I'd rather endure some sort of crazy torture than eat this dry sponge cake covered with icky jello and old fruit any day! Next, we'll cover their other treats - "rollette" or cream filled jelly rolls, napoleans, almond and walnut cookies, raisin cookies (you know, the ones gave you trust issues because you thought you were biting into a chocolate chip cookie), zoolbia bamiyeh... le sigh, they suck too. The cream they use in their napoleans is not even pastry cream (just look at the consistency). It's more like store-brand (not even name-brand) vanilla pudding on layers of puff pastry. The cake they use to make their rollette is dry and the overall flavor just lacking. The rest... not even worth the energy I would expend typing about them. I've visited so many Persian bakeries in Iran and Toronto and after eating my mother's home-made ones, I compare buying pastries at Yasaman to buying a counterfit Louis Vuitton bag. I am a Persian halfie that has just moved back from California and had forgotten all the best places to go in the DC area. My girlfriend and I drove by and actually were planning on going somewhere else in the same plaza. But when I saw the sign for Persian bakery, I forgot what I was doing and just gravitated towards it. I saw the sign for "Homemade Ice Cream" and it was all over from there. I got a small thing of ice cream and some other sweet goodies they barely made it home. I started eating my ice cream in the car and it was gone in less than 5 minutes! The chunks of frozen cream that is used in this kind of ice cream was HUGE and so fresh. My girlfriend has never been a fan of Persian ice cream. She's tried it several times over the past five years this was the first time she actually liked it enough to share with me. (If I knew, I would have gotten the large!) The ice cream is really fresh here, and you can tell they make it themselves. It's dangerous and like crack. Since then, we had come back several times for cakes and desserts. Everything we have had is good here, everything is made in house. Service can be hit or miss. Sometimes they are nice, sometimes they aren't. read more
