    Cake sampler
    Vy T.

Purchased a cake sampler because it looked super fun and I love trying a variety of cakes. Overall, it was all very tasty. That said, a few of the cakes tasted a bit dry or could use more moisture or stronger flavor (such as the Oreo cake). Really enjoyed the cakes with the fresh fruit on top, carrot cake, chocolate, and red velvet.

I had lunch next door and decided I needed something sweet afterward. Now I regret it, not because it was bad, but because it was way too good and I know I'm coming back. Repeatedly. This bakery is tucked into that odd little outbuilding with Moby Dick Kabobs and CalTort, so you have to look around a bit to find it, but it's absolutely worth the detour. Inside is spotless, bright, and full of dangerously good-looking pastries. What really stood out was how many were different, not just the usual lineup but things you don't see everywhere. I grabbed a couple slices of cake and some rosewater pastries whose names I can't remember. Doesn't matter. They didn't survive the drive home. The cakes did, barely, and they were just as good the next day. The staff were great too, friendly, patient, and happy to explain what everything was. I'll be back, and it's entirely their fault.

Cherry matcha and the people who made it

I got the best drink I've ever had today, a cherry Matcha. I took a picture of it because it was really pretty, but look at how proud the people who made it look. They were both very nice and the drink was out of this world.

Nice, cute legit bakery. The little cakes looked amazing. I had a hard time deciding, but I went with the tiramisu. It's amazingly fluffy. The outside seating is great and I'm sure it will be crowded as we head into cooler weather. If you like decadent cakes, then this would be your place.

It was a very chill atmosphere and at an ideal location. They had a lot of dessert options and my iced strawberry matcha was very good! The workers seem very nice as well.

But the taste of the cake.... wasn't good. That gets 1/5. I don't know if it was just me or if she had a lot of orders but my cake's taste (Very standard vanilla cake with vanilla frosting) was pretty bad. No one in our group of 10 ate much of the cake after the 1st bite, and because it was a family affair, people felt pretty comfortable in saying it tasted really bad. We had a whole conversation about it during dessert. I know I personally cannot order from her again. I only post this because it would've helped me had I have known. 17 5-stars is very misleading here. Again it could've been just my cake. Which is still unfortunate for me.

After some research, I found Paola and her cakes looked BEAUTIFUL! I contacted Paola about two weeks before my event and was excited to hear that she was available. I wasn't sure of the exact design I wanted, but I wanted a cross between a science themed and graduation themed cake and Paola was confident she could make that happen. Paola is really quick to respond to emails, calls and texts and was really patient and informative in answering any question I had. Payment was quick and easy, I was able to Venmo her directly (50% before to book the cake, and the other 50% when I received the cake). She was flexible and offered to deliver the cake to my event for a per mile fee which made my life a LOT easier. When the cake arrived it was AMAZING! It incorporated science and graduation while still being an elegant design. 5 STARS! I definitely recommend Paola! I hope to get more custom cakes from her in the future!

But there's a pattern here that keeps me from giving a higher rating, and today it crossed a line. For a spot charging $7+ for a bagel with cream cheese, the policy of charging extra for a to-go cup with ice and a lid has always felt petty. Today it got worse. I asked for an extra cup & lid for ice before being rung up, and the employee wrongly assumed I wanted a simple water cup. When I clarified, instead of extending a small courtesy to a regular customer, he stopped and ran a separate credit card transaction for $2.65, the full price of a beverage, for an empty cup. I had already paid for my bottled beverage. It's not solely about the money. It's about what that gesture communicates to your customer. A $0.25 cup given as a goodwill gesture goes a long way. A separate $2.65 charge for an empty cup does the opposite. The food and early open time will keep bringing me back. But management should keep in mind that it's the small things that turn regulars into occasional visitors.

We drove about 30…read moreminutes from Silver Spring because she was really looking forward to ordering her favorite ice cream, the Founder's Favorite - Gotta Have It. One of the things she enjoys most is watching it being freshly mixed on the frozen stone. Unfortunately, our excitement quickly turned into disappointment. There was only one person working at the front counter. He finished preparing the ice cream in just a few seconds, which immediately made us question whether all of the ingredients had been added. My sister politely asked if everything was included, and he simply replied, "Yes." When she looked at the ice cream and took a bite, it was obvious that several ingredients were missing, especially the brownies, which are one of the signature ingredients in the Founder's Favorite. We politely brought it to his attention, but instead of listening or checking, he seemed annoyed that we even asked. His responses were short, dismissive, and it felt like he just wanted us to leave. My sister then asked if he could add a little hot fudge. He said it would cost an additional $2.00, and I told him that was perfectly fine. However, he added what was barely a drop of hot fudge. When my sister asked if that was all, he replied, "Yes. That's it." His attitude throughout the interaction was rude, dismissive, and completely lacking in customer service. When I asked if I could speak with the owner or manager, he responded, "I am the owner." Based on his behavior, it was very difficult to believe he was the owner. He acted more like someone who simply didn't care about the customers or the business. He started walking away and we couldn't believe his attitude. We didn't mind paying extra--we simply wanted the product we ordered and to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Instead, we left feeling frustrated and disappointed. After driving 30 minutes to visit this location, this was not the experience we expected. We won't be returning, and I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously so that other customers don't leave feeling the way we did. If he is the owner, the company should take it from him.
