The bagels are solid but I was not overly impressed with the desserts. I would stick to the bagels or a bagel sandwich.

I have been enjoying their bagels since I found them early this year. I usually get the tuna melt but today The Zadey was calling my name for breakfast. It has corned beef, pastrami, Swiss, coleslaw and thousand island dressing on toasted everything bagel of course. You can also have it on rye bread. So good! I also picked up some warm freshly baked bagels (jalapeño, blueberry, plain, chocolate chip, and cinnamon raisin) to share with colleagues/friends). The staff are friendly and helpful. It is a small spot so more of a pick up and go. Stop by and check them out, they have been around for 30 years. Highly recommend!!!

Here's a polished Yelp Elite-style version with a natural, engaging tone:…read more Bethesda Bagels in Rockville is hands-down one of the best spots for bagel sandwiches in the area. My go-to is the sausage and scrambled egg on a multigrain bagel; it never disappoints. You can actually watch them making fresh bagels, and it shows. The texture is spot on, perfectly chewy on the inside with just the right amount of crisp on the outside. Everything tastes fresh, and service is quick, even during busy times. The staff is always friendly, which makes the experience even better. Their cream cheese is excellent, too rich, flavorful, and a noticeable step up from the typical grocery store options. They also carry cookies and other treats from local vendors, which are definitely worth trying if you have a sweet tooth. If you're craving a solid bagel sandwich, this is the place to go. Bonus: free parking makes it an easy stop.

I ordered the BLAT bagel sandwich, which came with bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato, red onion, and cream cheese on a fresh bagel. The sandwich was filling and had generous portions of bacon and avocado, but overall I thought it was just good, not something I'd go out of my way for. I also paired it with an iced coffee, which was exactly what I expected from a standard cold brew. The shop was busy and the staff kept the line moving, and there are plenty of bagel sandwich options on the menu. My biggest downside was the price. It's on the expensive side for what you get, and while the quality was good, I didn't feel it justified the cost. Overall, Bethesda Bagels is worth trying if you're in the area, but I wouldn't consider it a destination bagel shop. The food was good, just not memorable enough for me to make it a regular stop.

My eggs, home fries and bacon were perfect. The food came out hot and fresh. My husband ordered the maple bacon pancakes and while they smelled great and had a nice flavor, they were very dry. My breakfast came with a buttermilk pancake that was also flavorful but dry. Other than that, it's a lovely place and we plan on returning there. The couple next to us had the crabcake sandwich and an omelette and they said they were both great. Just don't think we'll order pancakes next time. Everything else was just great! Very sweet people.

Tuna 8/10 The tuna was prepared really well, the crunch from the bread and the softness from the tuna was a great combo. The only thing I would change is some more seasoning on the tuna would push it over the time for me.

Physical Exam: Food - I ordered the special four cheese bacon bagel that they had on special with tomato and scallion cream cheese. My wife got a plain bagel with scallion cream cheese. It was all impressively reminiscent of a NY bagel. Great density, chew, and crust. The cream cheese was administered generously. Ambiance - The establishment presents as a classic New York bodega with a deli counter layout -- compact, no-frills, and entirely appropriate for its intended function. Great place if you want something with quick service and great food. Service - Quick, functional, and to the point. No complications noted. Assessment: A neighborhood gem and so thankful we stumbled upon it. Royal Bagel Bakery delivers an authentically New York bagel experience in an otherwise unlikely corner of Germantown, Maryland. One downside is they got very plain coffee, but it's the type of place where I'm looking at the coffee purely as fuel, and nothing more. Plan It's so far away but I definitely will try to go again next time I'm nearby. Specialty bagel was a phenomenal choice. Gotta try their cakes next time, which looked crazy good.
