Service is pretty quick and the shop does a brisk business with lots of customers coming in. Self serve coffee in hot carafes feature straight coffee and hazelnut. The coffee is above average in quality. Yesterday bagels are really cheap, heck if you buy a half dozen fresh bagels, tomorrow they will already be a day old. Woke up this morning with a major craving for freshly baked bagel. So what did I do - stopped by at The Bagelry located in Silver Spring. I have been enjoying their bagels since I found them early this year. I usually get the tuna melt but today The Zadey was calling my name for breakfast. It has corned beef, pastrami, Swiss, coleslaw and thousand island dressing on toasted everything bagel of course. You can also have it on rye bread. So good! I also picked up some warm freshly baked bagels (jalapeño, blueberry, plain, chocolate chip, and cinnamon raisin) to share with colleagues/friends). The staff are friendly and helpful. Exceptional. That is how I would describe my Sammie. Lately, I have been yearning for bagels, lox, and cream cheese. I saw this place had great reviews, so why not. Called my order in advance, I had not looked at the menu, so the worker on the phone let me know the difference between the two sammie's with lox (the ne with lox and the other with a mutate of lox in the cream cheese). I wanted my lox separately. The food was available upon arrival, and I was greeted upon entry. The staff were friendly. The location is in a small strip mall in between New Hampshire and Randolph Roads. The parking is limited, but my guess is you aren't actually eating there. I had a pick-up in the area and I absolutely had to return. I was there around 11:30 on a Saturday. I got the last parking spot in the tiny lot shared with other businesses. I knew exactly what I wanted and hoped they didn't sell out of my favorite bagel. I got my old faithful: toasted salt bagel with cream cheese. I didn't have to wait long. This used to be the only bagel spot I would support; but, after picking up 2 bagels and lox and having that be $30, my relationship with this business will be ending. Ohh la la, this may be my favorite version of a Nova Lox yet! As expected, a great Nova Lox sandwich should be a dollop of evenly spread cream cheese, a blanket of sliced salmon covering said cream cheese, plenty of capers distributed throughout, and we can't miss out on some strategically placed red onions for zing (the lettuce isn't optional but luckily it's more for color and texture than for taste). It is indeed a big bite but a flavorful mouthful in every single bite. I love that the cream cheese isn't the only ingredient I taste and more than enough capers were available to help with the potent taste of red onions. And don't fret, those rainbows in the bagels didn't alter the plumpness nor taste of this amazing sandwich. The bagels are excellent, but the prices are absolutely outrageous. If you just stop in for a half dozen or dozen bagels, it's about $2 per bagel which I think is on the high side. Their bagels are on the smaller side but they are pretty tasty so I'm willing to pay up. The bagel sandwiches, on the other hand, are outrageously expensive. The "Nova on the Run," with cream cheese, lox, tomato, lettuce, onion, and capers now costs $15!! I can buy two pounds of lox alone at Giant for that price. And a bagel with cream cheese costs between $6-8. That is just not worth the extra effort to put cream cheese on a bagel yourself. read more

I had some business in the area, and was hankering for a nova lox bagel. I stopped off at the Bagelry simply because it was the closest bagel shop near me at the time. My wife and I both ordered the nova lox bagel sandwich on a poppy seed bagel (because they were out of everything bagels). It came with lox, cream cheese, capers, onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. It was very good. My only complaint was that the bagel was a little hard. Other than that it was delicious. It cost around $15, which is the average price for that type of sandwich. We also ordered some rainbow cookies. They were decent, but needed more almond flavoring. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese on everything bagel. Will not be returning. The food is not fresh, all frozen or pre made from a supplier. Nothing is coming fresh from a kitchen besides the bagels. I watched the cook and the eggs are poured out of a carton into a plastic container, then microwaved to cook (gross). Hopefully the plastic can withstand heat. The bacon is also underwhelming. It is not fresh sliced bacon butcher cut. They use precooked bacon circles from a food supplier which are microwaved.
