I found Pearls when searching for bagels nearby... did not disappoint. The everything bagel sandwich with egg cheese bacon was delicious. There was a line, but service was very fast. Great spot! *As a soda drinker, I don't give any restaurant that doesn't serve Diet Coke or diet soda of some sort any higher than a four. The do have some types of fizzy sodas and seltzers, but I'm hardcore diet soda.
Pearl, where have you been all my life???? My friends told me about this gem. The store is across the street from the convention center and just feet from Capital Burger. Pearl was the precious fur baby of the owner. You can see a photo of pearl hanging on the wall. It was from the owner's wedding day. The bagels are yum-a-licious. The strawberry cream cheese is SO wonderful & fresh. There are chunks of strawberry in it. You will need to "reapply" the cream cheese while you are eating it. There are containers of various cream cheese flavors for sale. You can also get day old bagels on sale. The merchandise includes cute warm hats and tshirts. The Tom sandwich seems popular (there isn't an actual Tom). If you have your own fur baby, there is a water bowl & dog biscuits outside. The inside dining area is small but there is outside seating too. Thank you Pearl!
A must-visit if you're in the area. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel with honey butter, and it was truly a delight. The bagel itself was incredibly tasty, and the bacon was next-level -- almost like candied bacon. I also tried the hibiscus tea, which was so refreshing. I'm not from the area, but I am a bit of a bagel connoisseur, and this spot instantly made my must-go list. The dog-themed atmosphere is adorable, the employees were very welcoming, and the service was quick and on point. Highly recommend.
Got breakfast here both days during Otakon this past summer! Great place to hang out with friends and catch up over a bite to eat. It's close to the convention center, so it was very convenient for us. Despite the long line, service is still very fast. And the wait is worth it! Their bagels are loaded and definitely hit the spot. Looking forward to eating there again when I visit DC!
Very cute, small location. We beat the line when we visited, but could see one beginning to form in the morning, and it's definitely a little cramped with everyone waiting for orders / in line. There is limited seating, but if you can snag a table, it's pretty comfortable. It was fun to see the bagel oven at work in the back! The bagel was denser and smaller than I generally prefer, but I understand that texture can be a matter of preference - my brother prefers a denser, chewier bagel. I do feel like the ingredients (like lox) within the sandwich were a bit scant compared to bagel sandwiches I've ordered at other places for a similar price point, but overall this was a solid sandwich. The staff was very kind.
I stopped by here following an appointment nearby, I needed a good place to grab a bite and check into work. The patio was a great idea with the weather. I did an order ahead since the line was enormous and there isn't much room to wait inside. I ordered three things- a drink, a cream cheese for takeaway, and a bagel sandwich. I walked to the pickup spot (20 mins following the order, about 5 mins early from my pickup time) and was told my order would be ready shortly. Everyone was very nice, and my bag was handed to me shortly after. The person that had helped me had turned around and was having a laugh with the guy who looked to be responsible for making drinks. I waited a bit before finally getting into their attention and letting them know I was missing my drink. They checked my bag receipt, said yep, and made it quickly. I walked away, realizing my bag felt pretty light for also having a container of cream cheese, and realized that was also missing. As I was halfway to the door, I had to backtrack through the crowd, had to grab the same persons attention to ask about it. It was as simple as grabbing from the case on the way out, but as a first time visitor, I had no idea. Seems like something that could have been communicated before. It really wasn't that much of a hassle, but it was annoying and felt a bit dismissive. I had just spent nearly $20 on a plain bagel with some sprouts and cucumbers, a tea they poured from a container, and a container of cream cheese, so to have this type of service was a big miss for me. Overall, the bagel and hibiscus tea was honestly just okay, but I did love the cream cheese. The place is definitely cute and is a nice place to sit and have a moment. Maybe I would be a return visitor, but overall the pickup process turned me off.
If you're near the convention area, this is the perfect place for breakfast!!!! It might get a little busy, but there's plenty of seating outside. The inside is frenchie-themed and I just can't get enough of how cute it is. So sad that I only found out about it on my last day in the DC. If I had more time, I would've definitely been here every morning.
I was staying in the Mount Vernon Square area and had been craving a bagel. I looked up some nearby options and was surprised to see a well-known NYC chain here, but with less-than-stellar reviews. This shop had fantastic reviews, was super close to my hotel near the convention center, and a local colleague confirmed it was a great choice. I stopped in planning to get my order to go. The storefront is so adorable and welcoming. It's a bright white entryway with an adorable logo of the owners' Frenchie, who is of course Pearl. Pearl is also on the coffee cups and the paper that wraps your bagel. They have so many good sounding options for sandwiches, bagel types and cream cheese. I like to judge a first-time visit to a place on pretty standard options, so decided I would order a bagel with cream cheese and a drip coffee. But I noticed a scallion cream cheese and just could not resist, so went with that along with an everything bagel. Perhaps a surefire way to keep colleagues away from me at the conference; oh well. The interior was also bright white and clean, with some cool D.C.-themed artwork on the walls and Pride flags draped throughout. I don't know if that's year-round or if it was just for June/Pride month. In any case the space felt so cheerful and welcoming that I decided to sit down and eat here for a few minutes instead of taking my bagel to go. Service was fast and friendly. My coffee was rich and delicious. It was full right to the top and I had to pour out a bit to pour in some milk, Thankfully they had thought of this by having a little s station near the milk, which was offered in Whole, half and half and oat milk varieties. My bagel was so delicious. I'm a bit of a bagel snob, and this was a very good take on a New York style, chewy on the inside, crispy on the outside texture. I absolutely loved it. The cream cheese was abundant, enough that I couldn't quite eat it all, and both the texture and flavors were on point. I was so glad I came here and wouldn't be surprised if these are indeed the best bagels in D.C. I'm in town a lot and I will definitely be back!
Hello fellow yelpers....The female taking the orders down was awesome and had such a great attitude and provided some insight on the level of cream cheese that's needed :) We got the classic lux on a poppy bagel with medium cream cheese and a frenchie on an everything bagel ( loved the micro greens in this ) . We shared and split it to get the best of both worlds . Cold brew and cappuccino ( hot ) , were . The service was absolutely awesome and lighting speed and did not affect the quality . Thank you ladies for making this experience amazing
We came to stay over night and we wanted something simple, fast, delicious and unique... There was many bagel places we pick the pearl's. I am glad we found Pearl's Bagel..: Cosy, fast (even there is a huge line but it wasn't take hours and It was worth the wait. And the bagels and ingredients was fresh, tasty and plenty! Came here multiple times on our week long vacation in DC. Not only is it good, it's next to a Metro station, so super convenient to grab something then head straight downtown. I opted for a B.E.C bagel and it was delicious! Go, you won't be disappointed! read more

Nice bagel, they had heart pink bagels as well that looked very cute. More chewy less crunchy and more on the bread like side. Great egg though I like the way it was prepared. The staff was also pleasant. Not a lot of seating but we made it work. read more

I love a good bagel spot! I was attending a conference in the area and noticed there was a line outside the door every day. I decided to check it out one of the days. It is a very small shop, so space is very limited. I ordered their plain bagel with plain cream cheese. I have no complaints! It was pretty good. There was a bit of a wait because of how busy they were, so my total wait time was probably 25 mins between waiting in line and waiting for my food. read more
This location is right across the street from the Washington DC convention center. What a perfect place.. Any given morning, there is always a line that the service is extremely friendly and generally fast on preparing your food and getting it out to you . I would have to say that this is the best bagel in the DC area forget about the name, brand franchisees, and go with a local bagel maker . I opted this morning for an onion bagel, toasted with egg and cheese and bacon and let me say it's one of the best you can get . They have all kind of spreads which are all homemade and incredibly delicious and the bagels are made fresh right there on a consistent basis. The decor goes with the type of bagel shop. This is it's extremely neat and clean with some seating available and everybody seems friendly. . Highly and I mean, highly recommend stopping here for a breakfast bagel of your liking . read more
I've been here twice. I got the Frenchie and the Lox bagel. Okay, the frenchie was pretty solid, I just don't like mustard and shouldn't have ordered it with that on it. The Lox Bagel had so much cream cheese. Disappointing because everything was really good, but the cream cheese was too overpowering. read more

Another great Sunday visit. Got in line right before 9 AM and we beat the crowd. The wait for our order wasn't bad at all, and we got lucky to snag a table in the corner, but they also had outdoor seating. This time I got the standard D sandwich and I personally loved all the crunchy vegetables mixed with the bacon and heat. read more
Always love coming to this cute, friendly bagel shop when I'm in Washington,DC! Located just a few steps from the convention center, this is a happening place, but convenient to grab a great bagel and get some fresh air!! It can get quite busy if there is a conference, but it's worth any wait you might have! But hurry, they are only open until 2pm daily, so plan accordingly! There is a small indoor seating area and a small outdoor space for seating as well (weather permitting). The menu features bagels that are delicious and fresh and come in a variety of flavors such as plain, everything, sesame, onion and more! Enjoy one of the many bagel sandwich options or just a good bagel and spread! The vegetable spread was so flavorful and filled with fresh veggies and you're given a generous spread! For the DC area, this is a very good bagel. I am still in the hunt for a bacon egg n cheese as good as NYC here. I would say these are top 5 in DC. I did generally enjoy my sandwich: it had a healthy amount of cheese and the bagel itself was soft. However, the eggs felt very dense and the bacon tasted very game-y. Not sure what type of bacon they use, but I was not a huge fan. The shop itself was clean and well-organized with cute local items for sale and a local magazine available for customers to take. The workers were kind even though they were busy. The coffee drinks were also solid! read more

This place is located right across the Walter Washington Convention Center. My wife tried it the day before and had to gran one more before we flew out. Their bagels were chewy on the inside with a nice crisp on the outside. I wish they had more sweet options like a honey cream cheese. The honey butter wasn't strong enough to overcome the taste of the cream cheese. I made the mistake of ordering online when I got there in stead of waiting in line. read more

I was recommended this establishment for breakfast and I was not disappointed. It's a small space with 5 tables inside and 5 outside. I got there around 9am and fourth in line 2 minutes later the line was out the door. That being said I was in and out in less than 10 minutes as I took my food to go. I ordered the boss which consists of pork roll, eggs, American cheese , salt , pepper, and ketchup on a plain bagel and a coffee Ordering was quick and easy the staff was very polite and pleasant. The sandwich itself was very gooey in a good way. The bagel was soft but not too soft and the eggs and pork roll cooked wonderfully. read more

Definitely a solid bagel, but maybe not a good fit for me. A friend picked up bagels to go, so I can't speak to the ordering and in-store experience. They traveled very well. I ordered an egg and cheese bagel and added turkey sausage and cream cheese. My go to bagel is an Asiago/cheese bagel, which wasn't an option. The sesame bagel was a good backdrop for the sandwich. I also add cream cheese and expect a medium spread. This was a ton of cream cheese which I would normally love, but it was a lot with egg, sausage, and cheese already on the bagel. I'd leave this off next time, but that's on me for ordering it this way. read more
Neat little place for a decent coffee and bagel. Grabbed an everything with salmon and a cup of coffee. Coffee was above average, bagel was average. Not horrible but nothing great. The order got lost even though it wasn't busy. Overall about four stars but deducting a star for charging me one dollar for each pat of butter. The nickel and diming is getting outrageous. read more

Fantastic bagel shop located in DC. They had bunches of options to try and their bagels were delicious. The cheese pull on my bacon egg and cheese bagel was amazing. The staff was fantastic and they had a few places inside and out to dine. They sell all their products in the little fridge by the door and their drinks are pretty good too. If you like bagels, this is a good spot. read more
A landmark of a changing neighborhood, this bagel place is near the convention center and is worth looking at for anyone at a conference. I found the line manageable on a weekend, and the smell of the bagels once they got to my car left a good impression. The browned edges and hint of sourness spoke of quality, as did the brick oven actively running in the back of the shop. It's a small place and while you could eat in I wouldn't count on getting a seat. I was a bit puzzled at having ordered six bagels and them not getting my order correct. They got one of the flavors wrong, and with me having asked for them not sliced, I ended up with a sliced one that I assume was meant for a sandwich and was abandoned for some reason. There's no harm done; the bagels are good regardless. Just not ideal service. The menu of sandwiches and such didn't suit me, but they did have customization available and some vegetarian toppings for anyone wanting a fresh bagel sandwich. read more

I enjoyed my bagel from pearls. I got the lox bagel on everything. It was an interesting change of pace to have some greens on the bagel. I also picked up someday-old bagels that I ended up bringing home and making bagel sandwiches with. It's really cute inside with lots of cute merch. I would go back to try other bagels. read more

These bagels were so delicious I still think about it. I went at 11am on New Year's Day and it was pretty busy so don't count on sitting inside but the line is so worth it. read more
Got Pearl's delivered this morning. I really enjoyed my bagel sandwich. Was it the best thing since sliced bread (no pun intended)? No, BUT nothing beats a fresh bagel and I could tell this bagel was fresh. Good everything flavor. My suggestion to this business would be to enable swapping egg whites onto the normal sandwiches instead just the egg and cheese! I will definitely get it again and visit the store when I'm in the neighborhood. For reference, the delivery fee to Columbia Heights was $7. read more
