    BBQ chicken sandwich
    Kai M.

Have you ever forgotten to take pictures because your food smelled amazing and you were ready to dive in?! Oh wait, is it just me? lol OOP! this was certainly the case! Wellllllllll let me draw a picture of the perfect day and this AMAZING sandwich. I visited this place for the first and certainly not my last-at the recommendation of a few people. The staff was beyond friendly and they were all warm and accommodating. Did I mention that service was pretty quick? It was! But let's jump over to the thing which made me forget to snap a pic and kept on chewing...this bbq chicken sandwich!!!!!! Placed on a FRESH and buttery roll; the chicken was super moist, well seasoned, and everything that I needed to make my tummy smile. The bbq sauce was tangy and sweet and complimented the chicken with everything that it needed to be a star! But the chicken packed a flavor punch. Placed on a perfect roll *drools* and topped with cheese, this sandwich was a 20/10....STELLAR! And it delivered the best meal paired with a side of potato chips and juice (purchased separately) Cost: expect to pay around $10-$20 for your meal as it was a little costly and as mentioned, I had to purchase a beverage and chips separately. I don't know what you're waiting for....GET to this place immediately and wear sweatpants...your fulfilled tummy will thank you!!!!!!

    Nitro Iced Coffee

We are visiting from out of town and this is the perfect little place! The sandwiches (lunch and breakfast) are incredible. The nitro coffee is one of my favorites. The people are kind and even remembered us. It has a great selection of groceries for a quick grab. It's very clean. We will definitely be visiting here again.

Cute little market. Delicious sandwich with fresh ingredients. Lots of light. Nice place to sit and have a quick lunch or work through lunch. They have cute counter seating along the window and 2 larger wooden booths. Had a Turkey Bacon and Avocado Sandwich with chips and a soda. If you're staying in the area a quick lunch spot.

I was just walking past Union Kitchen, thought I stop in. It was a cute quaint, grocery store/café. I ordered a chickpea chorizo fiesta hash. It wasn't my favorite, but I was trying something new. Customer service was excellent and the place was very clean and quiet. I would comeback to try something else.

    Medium Vietnamese iced coffee

Stumbled across this place on the way to Tall Boy. The menu was diverse with healthier options. I needed a quick pick me up so I opted for an iced Vietnamese coffee. It's sweet, creamy and strong! The cashier (didn't catch his name) was polite and greeted me immediately when I walked in. I can't wait to stop in for breakfast. It's a cute little spot in an ideal location.

First visit and I perused the entire store for about 15 minutes. Positives: Compass Coffee including Nitro Cold Brew yassss Locally made products, you get to support local yay! Made in DC section Cold and hot bar Lots of snacks In house baked goods **The blind dog cookie: ok so I had a sample and basically this review is now about the cookie. It has crispy edges, chewy gooey (idk how because they weren't warmed up or anything...omg imagine if it was....even better....) center with chocolate chunks not your average bs chocolate chips and it's a sizable portion. Have you ever loved something so much that you wanted to say "I'll take them all"? Yea the thought crossed my mind but I was heading to the gym so I had to talk myself out of it. Ok onto the rest of the review... Negatives: Pricey Small selection I wanted to try their hot items (the Mac n cheese looked pretty solid even tho it was just sitting out uncovered) and their sandwiches but the reviews on the sandwiches have been pretty lackluster and with Smoked & Stacked & Unconventional Diner next door, it's hard to see myself getting a sandwich here anytime soon. I'll be back for that cookie though.

The guy in the back is hilarious... Stopped in to take a pic of some of the beautiful humans at this store.

I just went for coffee....but I was greeted in such a warm and welcoming way, they are definitely my honorable mention. The staff there are so nice! Even our waiter at a different restaurant saw me with my Union Kitchen cup and gleamed over how wonderful the staff at Union Kitchen are. Thanks for adding an extra piece of joy to my day and DC trip!!

They were playing bossa and jazz. I opted for the Aren latte and Indonesian beef rissole. Aren latte: 5/5 Latte with an in-house made Aren (palm sugar from West Java) for that hint of molasses and dark brown sugar This was one of my favorite coffees I've had in a while. There was a delicious coffee taste not overshadowed but rather enhanced by the smoky sweet taste of the Aren. I'll be thinking about this latte for a while. Indonesian beef rissole: 3/5 Batter-like skin rolled in breadcrumbs filled with savory ground halal beef & sautéed vegetables While I've never had this dish before, I googled pictures of what it should look like, and mine seemed to have significantly less meat than it should've. The taste was still delicious and seasoned and hearty, but it was mostly mush with some veggies and hardly any beef. While I thought the rissole was disappointing, I love the aren latte so much I'll still keep the 5 star review.

I tend to like sugar (too much) but try to drink black sometimes to try to appreciate the actual coffee flavor and for health reasons. Nice way to hydrate in a fancy way. Art work doesn't typically grab me but this art work did. If I had money, time, and comfortable accessibility to purchase, I would. I am sure I could order online and have shipped but I like to avoid shipping costs if I can. The realism and detail grab me in a way I like. The DC tunnel views that continue to beautify DC's respectable metro system show you that Jimmy is truly a local DC artist. It is reminiscent for me of Juniper Lane's music album cover Tightrope. I didn't notice this until after the fact but apparently when you buy art directly from here you get 15% of your purchase for more coffee here too. Wow. Why the missing star? This is kinda picky but if I wasn't looking or a foreigner, I could've accidentally added hand sanitizer to my coffee and well that's a big no no. Granted the bottle is labeled but I am not a fan of this being in the same area as the coffee add-ons. I know spacing is tight and maybe someone moved this bottle in this area but I don't get that sense and just think it's not a good setup. If this place wanted to expand , I think finding good NYC locations would be optimal as well. I am unsure if Philly would be good or not as an additional location as a coffee culture crowd. Of course I would still come back. It was worth the 15 min walk from the convention center in this hot August weather.

I'm in search of the best croissant in DC, so I regret not getting the regular croissant on this visit, but the chocolate croissant gave me an idea of what to expect. Buttery, flaky, crispy, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The typical chocolate croissant was my personal favorite.
