As a loyal customer of three years--and as someone who runs a technology company--my experience with V&B is a case study in frustration. Let me be clear: the things that are operationally difficult, they seem to have nailed down. The food quality, creativity, and consistency are phenomenal (5/5). Managing the logistics of fresh food delivery is a massive undertaking, and they nail it. The customer service team is staffed with patient, helpful people who do their best to solve problems (5/5). This is what makes the fatal flaw so baffling: the ordering platform is a complete failure (0/5). From a business process standpoint, a functional e-commerce and subscription management system is a solved problem. This isn't uncharted territory. Yet, week after week, the system fails to save selections, loses orders, and creates chaos. It is maddening to see a company get the really hard parts so right, only to be crippled by a basic technological foundation. Your chefs, delivery drivers, and support staff are being let down by a system that should be straightforward to implement. V&B, please, prioritize your digital infrastructure. The food is great, the reusable cooler bags are a pain in an apartment complex. I provided the intercom code and details of where to drop off and put the bag in the same place the first one was dropped off, but the second delivery driver must have mistyped the code and ended up leaving the delivery in a public space and not taking the first bag. Would try again if there was another option! read more

Pretty good the staff are helpful and nice. The I liked 5 of the 8 meals I received. The delivery scheduling and communication could be improved upon. For example I forgot to select my meals so they automatically sent the full menu to me but never sent a delivery confirmation. So I thought I just missed out that week even though they already charged me the morning if my delivery i got a text saying my order is 2 stops away... I wasn't expecting it but thankfully I was home when they arrived. I chatted with the customer service team and they explain that if selections aren't made they follow the regular scheduled delivery . So not a horrible inconvenience but still there was definitely a lapse in communication which if I wasn't home could have been bad because the food would have sat out and gone bad. read more

Food was delivered with plastic in it. My dietary needs were not met. Allergans were put in my meals repeatedly despite my profile listing the allergans. It's exceedingly difficult to pay $162 a week for 4 dinners and 4 lunches only to find that care and attention is not put into the preparation of one's food. Customer service was polite and helpful. Clearly there is a major disconnect in the kitchen. Dishes containing chick peas weren't cooked EVER, this is all unacceptable. read more

Vegetable and Butcher is a fantastic meal delivery service! I got the butchers box for lunches and dinners, and every meal was really good. Lots of vegetables, lots of flavor and excellently prepared meat in every meal. They are also packed with protein and other important nutrients. It's a little expensive, but would certainly be cheaper than eating out every day. I highly recommend V&B! read more

I just tried one week so I have limited data. But the meals were bland. To be fair, they all seemed very healthy and I think if you ate them you would be in good shape and probably loose weight. But they were not tasty and needed more seasoning or something else to say the least. I don't like having to schedule a separate bag pick up when I used to be able to put the bags out for pick up with my delivery. I also liked the old portal better. I don't want to have to filter for the types of meals on my plan. While I like many of the meals and that everything is fresh, the order / pick up process is having me reconsider if it's worthwhile when I often skip weeks because there are not enough meals on Monday that I want to order. Thursday is too late in the week or how I use the meals for weeknights. read more

Pros: Nutritious, well-balanced vegan meals with attention to allergies. When my meal required a substitution due to a food allergy, I was able to select from a few other options. Compostable packaging was a plus. Helpful and responsive customer service. On-time delivery. Neutral/Cons: A couple meals were on the bland side, but easily fixed with some added heat/spice. The energy bites were too sweet for my taste (and melted together upon delivery despite it being winter - but no big deal). The website's user interface took a minute to get used to, but it was straightforward enough. Overall, these were small things that didn't impact my level of satisfaction. This was an awesome option for post-surgery recovery and made life a lot easier to not have to think about meals! I most appreciated the nutritional value and vegan options. read more

V + B is the 3rd food delivery service I've tried (also tried Daily Harvest and Hello Fresh) and what they say is true: 3rd time is a charm. Yum! I feel like the veggie meal plan was made just for me. Spices and herbs = perfect. Portion sizes = perfect. I'm not even going to look at the choose meals option each week because I want to be surprised now. Color me impressed! I'm pretty far out in the 'burbs, and the deliveries are great, the customer services is great, and as I mentioned...love the food. I'm a cancer survivor (wish me luck for long-term!) and I love that the food is nutritious, local, and ethically sourced. And compostable containers? Yes! I really want to love V+B but there is definitely room for improvement. Even with my 3 stars, I'm still rooting for them. Pros: It's a local small biz which I always appreciate. The meals (speaking for lunch/dinner) are always super fresh and out of ~10 deliveries, there was only one recipe that I didn't love. Cons: I think the portion size for dinners could be increased, maybe by half a serving. I'm often not fully satisfied. Would love to see more protein options for vegan meals other than tofu, which is offered the most. The user experience on the website is horrible. I've had countless issues with navigating subscriptions, skipping meals, erroneous charges, and applying discount codes. It would be great if they sent reminder emails to pick your meals each week before the deadline like other companies. I'd also love more than a 5 minute warning that the delivery driver is arriving. Overall, it's a great option, nutritionally, but the cons don't make it worth the price for me. read more

I have been using vegetable and Butcher for about a year now. They have a lot of great healthy local options. Delivery is generally pretty seamless.
