Not a fan really but it had just opened the week we were there. The Red Velvet cupcake was very dry and lacked any flavor and the icing was "off" (not sure off means stale or just dodgy flavor!. We bought a scone as well and my friend said it was very dry, stale and just lacking any moisture (including the fruit which was hard. We were disappointed. Prices are high for the small size of the cupcake and scone but such is life these times. Nothing is cheap! The coffee was very strong and decent. Truthfully, I'd not go back again if it was out of my way to get to it but as I live locally, I'll wait a few weeks for them to settle in, find their feet and hopefully upgrade the stock (I had already tried the same stuff in Wasghals and wasnt impressed there either so could be just this is how it is on the bakery side. I come from Europe where everything is super fresh pastry, fresh cream and barely lasts 3 hours so it may well be my expectations are too high as its hard to get that freshness in local bakeries i've been at in this area! I do wish the fruit was juicier (scones) and the flavors more alive. If i drop in again, I'll try the smoothies or something that has to have more moisture.
Staff were attentive, a bit shy and silent. didnt engage at all while making coffee, even as we asked some questions about the business, etc. I give them a break as they may be new working in the industry and had to focus on making coffee but hopefully they liven up a bit - was the quietest place to walk into!! I wish them well, its a tough time to open a business but you also need to have the quality to make people come back. read more
