Ambiance: This place is simply cute and cozy, perfect for breakfast or lunch. Service: nothing spectacular to report, I felt like the staff could use some customer service training. Food: I ordered the chicken and avocado (not pictured) in simple words, the sandwich was tasty but there were a few things that would take it over the top: 1- the sandwich lacked a hearty serving of chicken. They were finely diced and scarce. 2- the avocado spread was tasty 3- the spinach was way too much and it overpowered the already scarce chicken. 4- the melted cheese soaked through the bread and made it really oily. While the sandwich was a tasty, I think that a few improvements can definitely help. Needless to say their pastries are delish so I'd likely return for just that.

My favorite bluestone lane in the city! The vibes are immaculate, so much natural light and perfect for either working from home or getting a bite with friends. The wait staff is extremely kind - a personal shoutout to Ara who is always very generous and personable. The food and coffee, while a bit overpriced, is also great, and I'm proud to be a regular here!

After a no-school camp at Amore Learning across the street, my eight-year-old daughter, her five-year-old friend, and I popped into Bluestone since they heard good things about it. Ordering small hot chocolates and warm banana bread, the girls loved visiting. The dining room is spacious, kid-friendly, and bright. Staff even gave each girl their own packet of crayons.

I ordered a special seasonal smoothie called the Bondi Blue Smoothie by REEF (described as a tropical smoothie inspired by the Aussie coast. In partnership with REEF, this smoothie is a blend of banana, mango puree, almond milk, blueberries, vegan cream, protein powder, and blue spirulina). It was SO good and refreshing! Incredibly fresh, unique flavors, not too sweet, and perfectly blended. I would order it a thousand times and still not feel I got enough. The staff were friendly and efficient, the interior has sooo much seating space, plus there is an endless outdoor patio that has really nice vibe. They were running low on pastries but you gotta get there early for those. Overall, great!

I've been to Bluestone a few times in different locations but this spot is definitely spacious. I arrived around 3 pm new pick up a mobile order and it was packed inside. Ordered their iced vanilla latte with a bogo deal so I ended up getting a second beverage for free. Coffee is strong but not over powering. I also really enjoy their avocado toast and some of their smoothies. They are however pretty pricey for what it's worth.

Perfect spot for breakfast or lunch. Bright, comfortable setting, everything on the menu looks mouthwatering. Large selection of different types of coffee. We tried waffles with whipped cream and berries , and the special - "BL Bekkie ": multigrain toast, smashed avocado, two poached eggs, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes , topped with several slices of perfectly crispy bacon. Will be back to try lunch options

Early morning breakfast at this cafe in Spring Valley. Nice selection of smoothies and hot and cold beverages and many All Day Brekkies, mostly savory, as is my preference. The coffee setup is cute with the cornflower blue cup and saucer, although hot coffee in a glass bottle can be a hit precarious when pouring. I enjoyed my Vegetarian Big Brekkie with halloumi, poached eggs, avocado, kale and vegs. My companion enjoyed their folded eggs with chimichurri sauce too. This area can get very crowded because there is a Compass Coffee and Starbucks located a few doors down.

For breakfast or lunch, you can't beat the healthy variety of food and delicious coffee drinks at Bluestone Lane. I love the lemon ricotta pancakes! They're lovely without being too dense. Served with a side of syrup, they're my favorite breakfast. For lunch I love the chili scramble toast. The vibe of this place is immaculate, as long as there aren't kids screaming at the top of their lungs for extended periods of time like the last time I visited... The restaurant has tons of natural light through almost floor to ceiling windows. The servers are super efficient. I've dined with just my husband and with a group of 9 colleagues and the service has been great each time. They can divide checks and allow paying at the table, which I love.

Very respectful manager, I think his name was charles. He was very nice. Saw him talk to many tables to assure their service was great. My server was mae, she was very helpful with knowing things on the menu. Picked out a couple things because of her recommendation and I really liked it. If you're ever in town you should get the bacon egg croissant, was very delicious. Will definitely be coming back here again. Very nice lighting and scenery and lowkey.

Great spot for sitting outside on a nice day. Cute little cafe, fresh food and a few drinks. Lots of coffee/tea options too, although didn't feel very Australian lol. The breakfast burrito (with lentils!yum) came with a simple, fresh salad. The baked green eggs were great, served hot with lots of spinach, tomato, and mushrooms. I think it had chimichurri sauce as well, adding to the green but also tasted really good. Fast service. Super friendly. Good for vegetarian too. Prices were medium. Definitely recommend.

Loved this cute place! The vibes were so cute inside, great service from Mason, and the food was yummy. The iced mocha was so good.

The food was fantastic with wonderful flavors. You can skip Millie's next door. Service was also nice and the setting was filled with natural light. Highly recommend.

The food and service were very good here. I didn't so much care for the açaí bowl. There was way too much granola for me. I like just a sprinkling on top.

20 minute wait for a latte to go when there was no one in the restaurant. Do not recommend if you have anywhere to be.

My elderly father is on his own still, and I check on him every month. The place I stay is walking distance from this restaurant. It also has the advantage of being near the Metro stop for Friendship Heights, on the Maryland side (the station straddles the District line). So I have met people here, and they can access it easily from either further toward downtown or as they commute from the suburbs. I always order the same thing, biscuits and gravy. I tend to be regular not only as to venues but menu items. They issue one of those little signs with a number for the table. They then bring out the order. Even when it has been crowded, they have been brisk. It has a moderate flow of clientele, so I have not had difficulty getting a table. If you are in the area and want something casual but where you can sit down and even linger a bit, this should fit the bill.

Since then we have been a few more times and the quality has gone significantly downhill while the prices have stayed high. Today we went in around 1 PM and the kitchen was out of a few things so we decided to play it safe with huevos rancheros, and we got three orders. They all came with the eggs over hard, a tomato slice and sliced red onion instead of pico de gallo, and Kraft parmesan cheese from the shaker. That's just really not cool when they're $18 a plate. We also got a dirty napkin wrapped around a set of clean utensils. I'm giving two stars because the coffee and the brioche french toast are still good. But I won't be going back anytime soon...

I opted for the fried chicken sandwich and wasn't too impressed, as it wasn't a chicken breast but a thigh. I was a bit disappointed, to be honest, but the fries and chipotle mayo were great. (In all fairness I went back and read the menu afterwards and it did say it was a chicken thigh, so user error on my part. That said, the chicken was still dry and the tasted a bit oily.) As far as ambiance, it was welcoming. Perfect for a group brunch, as they also have outdoor seating. The biggest plus is that they also validate garage parking!

This place is a joke -- where do I even begin?…read more We made reservations for a table on the covered patio this past Friday at 5:30 p.m. My wife, our two kids, and I arrived right on time, and the patio was mostly empty: two tables of four were occupied, while five other tables of four sat empty, along with a few high-tops and seats at the bar. The host was a bit gruff, but initially it didn't seem like a big deal. She seated us all the way in the back of the patio, directly in the path of the setting sun. Since there were plenty of open tables in shaded areas, we politely asked if we could move. We were told no because those tables were "reserved." We reminded the staff that we also had a reservation and asked why we couldn't sit at one of those tables instead. It's not like we walked in without one expecting special treatment. The host just kept repeating, "I'm sorry, but those tables are already reserved." They offered to move us inside or to the front side of the restaurant, but refused to seat us anywhere else on the covered patio. After more back-and-forth, the host finally relented with an annoyed, "That's fine, we can just adjust," and walked us over to a table that had technically still been occupied moments earlier. We then awkwardly stood there waiting for the diners to gather their things and leave while the staff rushed to clean the table. Once we sat down, the host came back out visibly upset, loudly rearranging and slamming tables while muttering to herself -- the only word I clearly caught was "unbelievable." She was obviously unhappy with us. The absurd part is that the "adjustment" she made was incredibly simple: she turned two four-top tables into a two-top and a larger table seating seven. Even after that, two other four-top tables remained untouched. During our meal, one of those tables was given to a mother and her young son, and the other to two dads and their daughters. So I'm still not sure why we were treated as though accommodating us was impossible. The rest of the staff honestly seemed just as uncomfortable with the situation as we were. The food itself was fine, but at that point we probably should have left. I've never been treated with this level of disrespect and disdain at a restaurant before. I honestly don't understand why the host was so determined to stick us in the back. Was it because we had a baby? Or because we didn't fit the racial profile of the clientele they want to attract? Either way, we won't be back.
