We each got the espresso with whipped cream. Heads up, for a coffee focused place the cream was definitely out of a can. But the coffee itself was amazing. For food we got a pistachio beignet, and a chocolate and pistachio croissant. The beignet is definitely not a beignet- it was a bit more bread like, though it still tasted good. And the pistachio cream, though delicious, was so runny. The croissant was good but also had the same pistachio cream issue. It dripped out. For food I had the bacon flaming tart, which tasted amazing! One thing to note- the menu says capers, but it's scallions. That was a welcomed error, since I love scallions! We also got drinks, and I enjoyed my pistachio beverage. Overall, I'd say out of the options nearest the zoo, this is one of the best. read more

I stopped here after an appointment to grab a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised. To start, the employee working on that day was so incredibly helpful. It was Friday early afternoon. She immediately greeted me as soon as I walked in and then went over all their options with me. They do open face sandwiches but she said any can be made into a regular sandwich. She gave me recommendations as well. I decided to go with the chicken open face sandwich but as a regular sandwich and the sea salt caramel latte to go. The latte was really good and was not weak. I ate the sandwich when I got home and it was also very good. The chicken and sumac onions were delicious! The place has plenty seating if you want to just work and drink coffee or order full meals with friends. There is also a good size patio in the front. Yours Cafe is nice enough spot to meet a friend over coffee and pastries, but it's got stiff competition against nearby Rose Ave and Open City. There's plenty of seating, though I wish their back tables were smaller because then one person using their laptop takes over an entire four-top. Service is a bit slow when the place gets crowded. We left a little early when a large group of book club folks came in and tried to take every available chair they could (they should've called ahead to give the staff a heads up). Food is decent enough, especially the tasty shakshuka with lentils, but the omelet was quite dry. And maybe it's just me getting old, but the classical background music was way too loud for a Sunday. Honestly, had kind of a strange experience here... we walked in on a Friday night for a sweet treat from their bakery. The server there told us to order from Too Good To Go, which I did but then realized the order was for the next day. The server told us that she'll ask the manager if something can be done about this, then maybe completely forget about it? We were approached by another employee who we relayed this to but nothing happened; finally, the original server came by again. I told her I'm happy to just pick it up tomorrow, but after some more time she got approval from the manager and gave us two pastries (a chocolate croissant and a berry muffin, both of which were fine). I appreciate that the server was perhaps trying to save us money, but the wait, and on top of that, getting just two mid pastries was slightly frustrating. On the bright side, there was live music while we waited, which was nice. There's a lot of space and seating, so it seems like a great WFH spot. 5/10 would maybe recommend, I'd need to try this spot again but am not likely to do so given that I'm in DC for a limited time and all the great cafe options available. read more

The staff and owner are very friendly, but when the cafe is busy, service is frustratingly slow. No one acknowledged me when I came in for breakfast around 9:30 am, and after waiting for 15 minutes, I had to get up to get my own menus. It took even longer for my order to be taken. Water was offered only after I had already placed my order, and then no one came by to refill the small water glass. The cafe simply doesn't have enough staff to operate at full capacity. Food and drinks are okay, but unfortunately don't make up for the lapse in service and long wait times. It was also very hot today (over 100 degrees F), and the AC inside the cafe felt like it was barely on. I and other customers were noticeably sweating. Lastly, ordering and seating procedures are confusing. If the staff notice you coming in, they will tell you to seat yourself if dining in, but it's not obvious to customers whether you should order at the counter first or wait to be served. I've been here several times and watched a lot of customers be confused every time. Service is so slow that most people take it upon themselves to order and pay at the counter, even if they're dining in. Visible signage (e.g. "To Go: Order Here" above the counter register and "Please Seat Yourself for Dining In" by the entrance) would help a lot to reduce confusion. It would also help if menus were placed at the front of the cafe rather than in the back. Perhaps the cafe should also look into giving people the option to scan a QR code at their table to order and pay on their phones rather than waiting a long time to be served by a waiter. read more

The menu offers grain bowls, open-faced toasts, salads, tarts, as well as coffee and tea beverages. We ordered: +the Steak Toast - note that the picture on their site does not depict what we received; this was a baguette that was topped with overdone/tough steak, topped with tarragon sauce - not sure where the sliced scallions, the salt, pepper, and the basil was, as stated in its description; the horseradish cream may have been a very light smear, but could not be tasted; the tarragon sauce was awful, as it just tasted like black licorice and was overpowering in taste; the steak was just not edible, and the whole dish was just not edible nor tasty; the side slide with a simple light dressing was fine +the Shakshuka - prepared with tomatoes sauce, sliced yellow squash, diced zucchini, and lentils, topped with some feta cubes; there were also random whole grape tomatoes (which supposedly were 'confit tomatoes' but were not) in there as well; unfortunately, this was one of the worst shakshukas we've tasted - the taste was extremely off-putting, as it had an odor and flavor that seemed as if something was spoiled or became rancid; there was absolutely no seasoning, and, to top it off, it came out lukewarm; strange, as it was set in a small skillet, but it didn't come out bubbling hot; the side of the bread could have been toasted with some olive oil or something The seasonal Hot Apple Cider Ginger (beware that there were unpeeled cubes of raw ginger throughout, adding a weird texture to it) and the Warm Cinnamon Roll Latte (prepared with espresso, steamed milk, white chocolate, and topped with cinnamon) were the only items that were somewhat enjoyed; we did request these to be extra hot, but they were just served warm. Paid (almost $10) way too much for a plain hot black coffee to go. Waited way too long with no line or customers waiting, for my plain black coffee to be put in a to- go cup. Then the plastic lids, none of them, fit the to-go cups. I squeezed one on, sipped what was a marginal cup of coffee at best, and that lid immediately popped off as I walked out of the cafe. I tried to reattach it, with coffee spilling on my hands, and finally tossed it into a passing garbage can. I really want this café to succeed because it clearly has a lot of potential. It has a great vibe, a ton of energy, and it's impressive how much business they've already been able to bring in. However, the biggest issue right now is organization. It isn't clear whether this is meant to be counter-service or a true sit-down café, and that confusion leads to long waits, wrong or missing items, and guests not really knowing what to do. During my visit, my order was delayed and mixed up, and I noticed the same thing happening to other tables. The staff were kind and apologized, which I appreciated, but the overall experience felt disorganized and stressful instead of relaxing. With a clearer service system, better communication, and more structure, this place could truly be wonderful.
