    Muffin de Limon and empanadas
    Lisa C.

If you're looking for a charming, worldly Colombian coffee shop in the Foggy Bottom area of Washington DC, Aroma Cafe is a must-visit. I stumbled upon this gem during a work trip, hoping to grab some coffee and breakfast just in case the convention food didn't hit the mark and wow, was I pleasantly surprised. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was warm and energetic. They were playing groovy Colombian tunes that made you want to dance right there in the café. The space is filled with vibrant Colombian art, snacks, and gifts so it's like a mini cultural escape tucked into the city. We ordered the Empanada de Carne, the Ham & Cheese Croissant Sandwich, and the Muffin de Limón each one was absolutely delicious. The empanada was perfectly crisp and flavorful, and the muffin was citrusy and light, very unforgettable. Their café lattes and breakfast sandwiches reminded me of pinchos you'd find in Spain...small, satisfying, and packed with flavor. The staff is very friendly and provides great customer service and can help you figure out what to order from their delicious menu items. Aroma Cafe offers a wide variety of menu items, and I can't wait to return the next time I'm in DC. Whether you're Colombian or just a fan of great coffee and vibrant culture, this place is worth checking out.

Cute space and great service! Nestled between GWU, the White House, and amongst the international organizations sits Aroma Express. Its corner location has great sunlight and the space is cutely appointed, but I definitely noticed the old orangey-brown floors. There are a variety of seating options from small tables (inc a couple outside), a couple small group areas, as well as a wide counter. I got a vanilla latte and it was well made. The temperature was good and the microfoam was right. The espresso shot, however, tasted a tad dark/burnt for my preference. I enjoy darker roasts, but this leaves some bitterness. I got the mojicon de guayaba, which is a soft bun filled with guava paste. It was just sweet enough and was a good accompaniment with my coffee. The bun isn't quite as soft as milk bread or brioche, but I enjoyed this denser chewier experience nonetheless. I'll definitely come by to try more of their housemade pastries. There were so many sweet and savory options to choose from!

The bakery items are on full display in the front and staff are there to help you explain what each item is on the menu. They also have these cute aprons! Although its one of those new-age cafes that don't have a historical charm this one is trying to do differently by offering a more multicultural experience with their Colombian cafe classics. It's reminiscent of Portos but without the deep family history, which is kind of expected out of commercial cafes like this. The vibes are great, everything feels recently renovated and new. The seating is great, its perfectly within GWU campus so its student friendly.

Ordered a Frappe. Barista said Frappuccino. I corrected him and said frappe. He understood and re-entered the item. Paid for frappe. Got a Frappuccino. If you don't know your menu or an item, don't offer it?

Really good coffee for a fair price. Loved the cute Colombian-inspired décor--it adds so much character. Everything was clean, including the bathroom. Would definitely come back.

Inside an office building that houses the Organization of American States is a new Colombia bakery and coffee shop. With a location in Springfield and one in Woodbridge, this location is Aroma's first D.C. location. It's worth visiting and here's why. 1) Food: They sell an array of sweet and savory pastries from Colombia. Guava makes an appearance in more than one. For a savory snack, the beef empanada hit right. The texture and flavor were perfect and the spicy salsa it comes with is delicious! For dessert, I got their cheese muffin. It's very dense and the guava paste on top make every bite perfect. It's large and very filling. 2) Drinks: They have a full coffee menu and an impressive espresso machine. My latte using their own beans was strong and tasty. They have three optional flavors- caramel, pumpkin spice, and peppermint. When the barista handed my latte, he told me to let him know how he can improve once I tasted it. No improvement needed! 3) Service: Everyone I met was very friendly and excited to introduce Colombian food to me. They walked me through the pastry options. 4) Space: Its in one large room with cozy corners to sit and tables with paintings nearby. There are plenty of outlets everywhere. 5) Neighborhood: It's in between GW University and the White House. Paid street parking is nearby.

Very cute and small coffee shop in one of the most multicultural corners of DC, near the OAS, the IMF and the World Bank. I ordered a decaf macchiato, which was delicious and came right away. The music, the A/C and the overall aesthetics of the place made me quite happy.

Solid Colombian inspired coffee spot to chill for breakfast. Live DJ tunes on Saturdays. Highly recommend.

I am beyond happy to have such an incredible coffee shop in the Foggy area. Aroma Cafe is just what you want - small, family owned cafe with delicious baked goods and welcoming workers. The coffee is well balanced and the Colombian pastries are unlike anything in the neighborhood. There are plenty of outlets, a good number of tables, and wide selection of drinks - what more can you ask for? There is wonderful natural light and a bustling atmosphere that pairs well for study breaks, change of scenery or simple catchup with a work colleague. Their workers seem to really care, making frequent rounds to keep the place clean. I hope and wish the best to the cafe owners. If anything, you'll be seeing me more and more. I'm sure to gain a few pounds in the coming months from all their delicious treats! As an idea, it'd be great to implement a reward program, like Tatte, for returning customers.

Aroma Cafe is right where Juan Valdez used to be downtown - they remodeled it beautifully and made it such a cute place to sit and hangout. They have a myriad of Colombian treats that taste incredible, as someone who goes to Colombia a lot, these are authentic. The staff is wonderful and the coffee is REALLY good. We try to pop in here as often as we can to enjoy this wonderful spot.

They are open until 1 PM on Saturdays, we reached at around 11:30 AM and I was half hoping for them to be out of most items. Fortunately, even though they were super packed, we were able to find all of the items we were looking for - thanks to the hard working staff as they continue to make their pastries until closing - unlike so many other bakeries these days that make a certain amount and call it a day! Now to the food, everything we had was absolutely phenomenal! I am not a donut person but I loved theirs as they were very flavorful and weren't too sweet. I definitely prefer their Ube and Pandan over the Black sesame donut. The Matcha chocolate croissant and the Ube Kouign Amann were my favorites of the bunch! I cannot recommend them enough, this will surely be my first stop every time I am in DC!

The tuna sandwich asked for lettuce and told can't add lettuce. My husband asked for something not on his lamb pita, same story. Oh well. No customization at all, no subs. Makes business easier, but not as attractive for price point for customers. I'll remember to keep it to coffee and pastries from now on. Chicken pita was good, a bit heavy on the parsley but loved the dressing. Tuna sandwich was a hit. Pastries are always good. My pistachio latte was chewy bc it had grainy bits of pistachio in it. Not to my liking. $70 for three sandwiches, two coffees and two cookies.

I had absolutely no plans on buying or eating cake that day, but as a cake lover stuff happens. It was such a cute building the pastries had to be everything! It turned out to be the perfect stop. 1. The looks The building itself is so cute on the outside, and being a fan of the color pink, it instantly caught my attention. Inside, it feels less like a fast, high volume bakery and more like an intimate cake boutique. It gives small town where the owners know you by your first name. You can feel that real love was put into the space and the baking. Tasted like every ingredient was hand mixed, every cake hand frosted, and every cookie carefully hand scooped. They even served my slice of coconut cake on a real plate, which was such a cute, bourgeois touch that I loved. 2. Service The hospitality here is top-notch. On my first visit, yes you heard me! Lol! The gentleman Eric who rang me up was incredibly knowledgeable about all the different cookie and cake flavors. I ended up returning the very next day, and although he wasn't there, the other two staff members working which included Mikaela were absolutely delightful and so kind. The young lady told me her daughter loves the carrot cake as well and Mikaela said they started working there because they loved the patties so much! 3. The Cakes -Coconut Cake: This slice was so delicious, fluffy, and airy that it instantly reminded me of being a kid at holiday family meals with a fresh coconut cake on the table. -Carrot Cake: It was everything you want a carrot cake to be. It was nice and dense yet soft, with a pleasant texture from the added fruits. Definitely noticed pineapple bits! The cream cheese frosting wasn't overly thick and was so good you could eat it completely by itself. -Strawberry Cupcakes: I stole a small bite of my son's. unfortunately, this one was my least favorite. The frosting had a little chemical taste to it but it was a super cute cupcake. To answer your question, will I return? Absolutely! If you are in the DC area or planning a trip there soon, check this spot out. It truly feels like a mom and pop or pop and pop boutique. Not a bakery but a BOUTIQUE! Check them out! I was so excited to try some of these harder to find pastries. I had a Turkish beef börek and a cheese finger börek. They warmed them up for me, but they still weren't very warm - I'd probably ask for them to warm them up twice next time. The beef börek was good; the cheese finger börek was good, too, if maybe a teensy bit dry. I also got one of their signature coffees. While these coffees sound interesting and delicious and creative, I wish there an option or two that weren't as sweet. I tried the Sultan's Velvet, which was just way too sweet for me. Next time, I'll stick to a classic coffee - an americano or a cappuccino - since they have it all. There's quite a bit of seating - some downstairs, some upstairs, and some outside. I sat down and read my book while I enjoyed my pastries. It's definitely the kind of place that is comfortable to sit and enjoy. The customer service was friendly and fast. Overall, I'm glad I stopped by Caspian Crust. Georgetown is lucky to have several pastry shops/bakeries, but Caspian Crust is different and stands out. Its focus on Turkish and Azerbaijani pastries means that there's something for everyone - some classics for those folks who like what they like with their coffee, more savory pastries with meat or cheese or olives, and some sweet but less common pastries as well. Great flavors and variety. It's also cozy, comfortable, and casual, with good customer service. I'd be happy to return.
