    Plain Churro

Alexa's churros are very fresh and delicious!!!!! I thought it was a going to be an overpriced Costco churro, but you can tell that it was never frozen and not sitting out getting stale. There was a generous amount of cinnamon and sugar evenly distributed on my churro (Trust me...I've been given churros without any type of dusting). I saw them holiday market in Downtown DC, but have to figure out where I can find them outside of the holiday season.

Tried Alexa's Empanadas at the Downtown Christmas Market and was blown away! The filled churros caught my eye, and the chicken empanada sealed the deal. I got a churro filled with vanilla sweet cream and a chicken empanada. The churro was heavenly--perfectly cooked, and the cream inside was so sweet and had a great vanilla flavor. I want to go back to the market just for that churro!! The empanada was delicious, too. I think they gave me a chicken curry one, but not totally sure. No complaints either way, the chicken was flavored well, tender, and so tasty. What impressed me the most was the dough--perfectly flaky and chewy at the same time, and tasted so good with the chicken. I might be making another trip downtown just to eat here again!

Holy camoly! Their churros will get you addicted. My boyfriend bought the dulce de Le he one. One bite and I was back in line for the meat lovers empanada! Very reasonably priced! I got the hot chocolate which was also very good! I'll be back if they're still there!

That chicken empanada gave me life!!! I selected chicken because if they can make dry chicken tasty I knew it was the real deal and it was! Flavorful, savory, tasty goodness. I found it at the Market by Gallery Place. I also got a Dulce de leche stuffed churros. Also delicious! Both items were warm and I'm wishing I got more. Price is right!!!

I first experienced Alexa's at the Holiday market. The churros are amazing. Each flavor tastes incredible. The empanadas are also great.

While it sounds simple enough, I've actually had my fair share of less than yummy dumplings. I ran into Pinch at the City Center Farmer's Market and I knew that I had to give them a try. They were serving an assortment of vegan and meat dumplings. Being the carnivore that I am, I got their two meat options: chicken and asparagus and beef. Both came with a dumpling dipping sauce and an Asian slaw ($1 extra). While fried dumplings are always infinitely 100% better, I chose to get the steamed option in an attempt to be healthy. My freshly steamed hot dumplings were ready in less than five minutes and I excitedly split it with my husband. The quality in their product is evident: they hand roll their dough, grind their filling using local and organic ingredients, and pinch their dumplings daily. When eaten with their vinegary Asian slaw on top, it is a delicious combination. $19 for two orders is a bit pricey but to find quality, delicious dumplings it is worth the price!

The restaurant is super cute, with a fun cafe vibe, and it's an easy walk from the waterfront. We ordered the Colada Trio, which came with empanadas, cauliflower sliders, and yuca fries. Everything was delicious, and it came with three different sauces that were honestly all so good. I could've eaten those sauces with everything. We also ordered the Platanachos (plantain nachos), which were flavorful and such a fun twist on traditional nachos. They accidentally forgot the cauliflower and mushroom topping, but as soon as I mentioned it, they brought it out right away along with extra sauce. Mistakes happen, but what matters is how a place handles them, and they were incredibly accommodating, which I really appreciated. It was pretty busy when we visited, and I noticed who I believe was the manager or owner helping clean tables and checking on guests. I always love seeing that kind of hands-on involvement. Great food, friendly service, and an awesome location if you're exploring the Wharf. I'd definitely recommend stopping by!
