We were seated immediately by the matra-dee before our reservation time slot. The decor is open and airy and there's a large patio if you prefer to dine alfresco. We wanted a variety of items and began with Hummus, smoked beet salata and baba ghanoush. Followed by Crispy brussels afelia, Chicken shakshouka, Soujouk pide and shish taouk. For dessert we enjoyed Greek yogurt with apricots and olive oil cake with champagne. The presentation of all the entree's were plated professionally, tasted outstanding, and service from our waiter was on point. I highly recommend this restaurant by Jose Andres.

Uber Eats lacked description for Zaytinya's food items (such as the ounces of the drinks) and some items (such as the horta salata) were not as pictured. There were no extra napkins in our bag. The Coke came in bottles but we didn't receive any bottle openers. To top it off, we had three food items missing. I called the restaurant again to let them know about the missing food - they were unapologetic and didn't know what the proper protocol was to fix the situation. The service was subpar and the servings were small. Won't be back. The next day we had food delivered from another local restaurant where both the food and service were outstanding, unlike at Zaytinya. UPDATE: After writing the Yelp review, a general manager at Zaytinya emailed me the following: "..."The restaurant normally offers takeout, but the location was actually closed that day for a private event. However, since the order had come through, we tried to honor it. The mujadara and 2 orders of rice were missing because we hadn't prepped those items, as they were not offered for the buyout..." The restaurant knew on Friday what I was ordering for Tuesday. They had plenty of time to reach out to me and tell me they would be closed and wouldn't be able to fulfill the order. Instead, they knowingly sent out an order without all of the food for our group and charged as if we received everything. This shows a lack of professionalism and is disrespectful.

I ended up really enjoying it! I got the Taiwanese Fried Cashew Mozzarella Croquettes (House-made plant-based cashew mozzarella rolled in Taiwanese fry batter, drizzled w/Korean ketchup) It ended up being delicious, balanced, and garlicky. They were like fried shells that were then stuffed with liquid cashew cheese which was an interesting idea for me for making things like that more simply at home. The lettuce and sauces were so good with it. They also let me try the Chinese five spice agave syrup they use on their dessert egg roll when I asked about it. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

The texture and flavor for both make for such a nice meal in combination with the rest of the bowl. The noodle dishes (not as flavorful) or beef dishes (especially for meat eaters the texture can put people off) wouldn't be the first things I'd get. I also prefer to get the salad as my base bc the rice can be a little greasy at times and the crunch is nice. I like the dumplings for sides, but the star for me is always the dessert! It's almost impossible for me not to go grab the Chimi Chimi pow pow dessert egg roll when I'm in that part of town. It's not too sweet and is just so satisfying. The yuzu lemonade is great - really tart if you like that. The restaurant is also a nice space to be in for lunch. Service is usually quick unless things are busy and the people are really nice!

We had heard that Char Bar had changed chefs and revamped their menu, and were curious to see the changes. I am happy to report that Char Bar is much improved, going from a place where I wouldn't want to go to a solid restaurant. We were seated immediately at our scheduled reservation time, and the service was phenomenal all evening (the biggest surprise). Our food came out quickly and our server conveyed our requested dish modifications to the kitchen. The ambiance even improved-nothing spectacular, but still cleaner and neater than a couple years ago. We each got the Yemenite chicken soup, which was fine. The cost and portion size was reasonable, and onions provided a good crunch. The matza ball was a bit heavy and the soup became a little bland towards the end. However, there was a good amount of chicken and vegetables, and crucially, the soup wasn't too salty. We shared the brisket nachos and the mixed grill for our mains. The brisket was perfectly cooked, shredded, and juicy, and full of flavor. The chips were crunchy, and the guac and salsa added a nice fresh element. Char Bar was out of lamb for the mixed grill, so we got steak as a replacement. The steak was delicious and cooked well, although it could have used more sauce. The vegetables were nicely grilled and flavorful. I thought the merguez was OK but not great. The chicken was dry and badly needed a sauce and/or more moisture. I would recommend Char Bar if you are looking for a solid night out at a kosher meat restaurant.

The sauce that came with them was actually quite good though! For the mains, my Mongolian beef was too dry and lacked flavor. Her noodles + fried chicken were pretty decent. We both ordered coffee. I typically get the chickn fingers and I like all three sauces--the firecracker being my favorite. They are very crispy and texture is very similar to meat. I've had some of the bowls, like General tso, but I don't particularly like their rice, so I always opt for salad instead. The Dan Dan carbonara is scrumptious. The cashew base sauce is creamy but not too heavy and the plant based pork meat is a nice complement. I also enjoy sides like the brussel sprouts, broccoli and trolley fries. The fried cauliflower has a bit too much breading for me. They have great happy hour deals and food comes out relatively fast. Staff are always friendly!

The tacos are built on house-made masa tortillas and you can taste that they care. I did the Pollo à la Parrilla and the Chilito de Res. Both landed. The beef especially, slow-braised and seasoned like they meant it. This is a José Andrés restaurant, so you already know the room has energy. The ambiance is upscale and dim with that classic steakhouse feel clean white tablecloths, warm lighting, and a lively but still polished atmosphere. It's the kind of place you go for a celebration or a big night out. We started with drinks, and they were solid across the board. The espresso martinis were strong and well balanced, and the cocktails like the blood orange spritzer ($19) were refreshing and not overly sweet. For appetizers, the wagyu meatballs and octopus stood out. The octopus had a nice char and the waygu meatballs were flavored well. For mains, we tried a mix: double bone lamb chops ($77), braised short rib ($66), crab cake ($56), and sea bass ($52). The lamb chops were cooked well and had great flavor, definitely one of the stronger dishes. The short rib was tender and rich. The sea bass was buttery and well executed. The crab cake was okay - a little weird that they added chunks of red peppers to it. The lobster mac and cheese ($27) and asparagus ($17) were good sides, with the asparagus being thickk! We also had a couple bottles of Pinot Noir (Lingua Franca and Boen), both good choices that paired nicely with the meal. That said, service was noticeably slow throughout the night. Drinks took a while, courses were spaced out more than they should have been, and it just felt like we were waiting a lot. One thing that really shouldn't happen at a restaurant like this: one of my drinks came in a cracked glass. That's honestly unacceptable, especially given the price point and reputation. The manager did step in and comped a bottle of wine, which was appreciated, but still something that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Our server Santa was the best. Can't wait to come back to town so I can visit this place again.
