A night out with friends somehow turned into a full-blown debate about which steakhouse has the best butter cake. The contenders? Mastro's, Ocean Prime, and Del Frisco's. As expected, everyone had their favorite, so we decided to settle it the only way we knew how: by going to Del Frisco's and putting their butter cake to the test. After one bite, I have to admit that Del Frisco's may have a slight edge over the other two. The cake was warm, rich, and absolutely delicious. Before dessert, we also tried the Oysters Rockefeller and Dynamite Shrimp. Both were solid choices, but the Dynamite Shrimp stood out with just the right amount of crunch and flavor, while the Oysters Rockefeller were rich and satisfying. While enjoying dessert, we noticed they offered caviar service. Anyone who has read my previous reviews knows I'm a sucker for good caviar service, so adding it to our order was a no-brainer. A surprisingly perfect combination of indulgence: butter cake and caviar. Not a pairing I planned on, but one I thoroughly enjoyed. What started as a friendly debate ended up being a memorable evening filled with great food, caviar, and what may very well be my new favorite butter cake. Not a bad way to spend a night out with friends. read more

The restaurant is fancy and we were seated upstairs. The service was slow and we didn't get drinks/bread until almost 30 minutes after we were seated. I think they were short staffed, hence the delay. Our server was extremely friendly and brutally honest about menu options which I love so I'm happy to forgive the slow service. Their bread is among the best I've ever had. The rolls are pillow soft and are covered in honey butter. We got two servings of the bread. We got the dynamite shrimp for appetizer and we loved it. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the sauce was just enough to coat the shrimp and not drip all over or make the food too greasy. We both got prime NY strip steaks which were cooked to perfection - a properly done medium. Not too salty, not too greasy, very tender and juicy. We got the truffle Parmesan fries to share as a side and the portion was massive. For dessert we shared the brownie mousse cake. I wanted to try the tiramisu crème brûlée but the server told us it wasn't all that and the mousse cake was better which I loved to know in advance. We will be back to celebrate read more

Comparable to most steakhouses. Their drinks are yummy. Truly created by a mixologist. Danielle was our waitress. She was good. At our table the apps-wagyu meatballs and calamari, entrees lamb chops, crab cakes, aged ribeye w/truffle butter and sides-broccolini, corn, potatoes and mushrooms were ordered and the only complaint by one of three is that the scallion was too much and overpowering. The mashed potatoes were described as having chives (smaller) but scallion were incorporated instead. Sorry no pics! For the birthday boy, the warm butter cake was ordered. He enjoyed it. I personally did not like the outer crunch but the warm middle was soft and nice. The rolls were okay. Again, I was the only one that did not like their crunchy exterior. I can't wait to return to try the chicken and/or the short rib. I also want to try the bar and their bites. read more

Del Frisco's... come on now. You all know I hate leaving less-than-stellar reviews, especially for restaurants at this price point. When I'm spending around $120 per person, my expectations are naturally much higher. Let's start with the positives. Parking is what it is because... it's DC lol. I'd definitely recommend using a rideshare if you can. If not, there are several garages nearby. The team that greeted us outside was fantastic. It was raining, and I had a freshly pressed head of hair that I was trying to preserve with my life . One of the gentlemen quickly opened the door and helped me inside. The hostesses were equally kind and seated me in a comfortable area while I waited for the rest of my party. Now you're probably wondering, "Okay... so what's the problem?" Unfortunately, everything changed once we were seated upstairs. Our reservation started around 7:30 p.m., and we didn't leave until almost 10:00 p.m. Not because we were having the time of our lives, but because we spent most of the evening waiting. We were seated quickly, but it took about 15 minutes before anyone introduced themselves, brought us water, or took our drink order. There were only four of us. We ordered an Old Fashioned, a mojito, a Coca-Cola, and one of the restaurant's nonalcoholic beverages. About 30 minutes later, three of the drinks arrived. My friend's bottled Coca-Cola didn't arrive until another 15 minutes later. A bottle of Coke. By the time all of our drinks had arrived and we were finally able to order dinner, roughly 45 minutes had already passed. Our food didn't arrive until around 9:00 p.m. From what we could see, the restaurant didn't appear particularly busy. Maybe they were short-staffed. I honestly don't know. I just know the pacing of the evening felt far too slow. As for the food, I ordered the fish with crab fried rice and asparagus. The asparagus and rice were both good, but the fish was a little dry and had a faint freezer taste. The rest of my party described their meals as simply "okay." For a restaurant at this price point, "okay" isn't really what you're hoping for. I also noticed that the restroom locks were a little wonky, and our server rarely checked in throughout the meal. I don't mind paying for a good dinner, but when the service is slow, the food is inconsistent, and the overall experience feels underwhelming, it's difficult to justify the cost and the desire to return. I genuinely hope this was just an off night because everyone we interacted with was kind, and there is clearly potential here. read more

Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse is definitely a splurge, but if you're going in expecting a full-on steakhouse experience, it delivers. The ambiance is upscale and dim with that classic steakhouse feel clean white tablecloths, warm lighting, and a lively but still polished atmosphere. It's the kind of place you go for a celebration or a big night out. We started with drinks, and they were solid across the board. The espresso martinis were strong and well balanced, and the cocktails like the blood orange spritzer ($19) were refreshing and not overly sweet. For appetizers, the wagyu meatballs and octopus stood out. The octopus had a nice char and the waygu meatballs were flavored well. For mains, we tried a mix: double bone lamb chops ($77), braised short rib ($66), crab cake ($56), and sea bass ($52). The lamb chops were cooked well and had great flavor, definitely one of the stronger dishes. The short rib was tender and rich. The sea bass was buttery and well executed. The crab cake was okay - a little weird that they added chunks of red peppers to it. The lobster mac and cheese ($27) and asparagus ($17) were good sides, with the asparagus being thickk! We also had a couple bottles of Pinot Noir (Lingua Franca and Boen), both good choices that paired nicely with the meal. That said, service was noticeably slow throughout the night. Drinks took a while, courses were spaced out more than they should have been, and it just felt like we were waiting a lot. One thing that really shouldn't happen at a restaurant like this: one of my drinks came in a cracked glass. That's honestly unacceptable, especially given the price point and reputation. The manager did step in and comped a bottle of wine, which was appreciated, but still something that shouldn't have happened in the first place. read more

Del Frisco's was amazing from start to finish. For appetizers, I had the octopus and it was phenomenal cooked perfectly and full of flavor. My friend had the Rockefeller oysters, and those were just as good. For my entrée, I had the Chilean sea bass with the fried rice that had crab in it, and it was so good. The sea bass was perfectly flaky, and the fried rice had big chunks of lump crab that made it even better. The bread was also wonderful so light, fluffy, and full of buttery flavor. My friend got the surf and turf, and we were pleasantly surprised because we were not expecting three pieces of steak. It was amazing. Her boyfriend got the salmon with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. The creamed spinach was so good. rich, smoky, and full of flavor. For dessert, they brought out a butter cake for my friend's birthday, and that was truly the star of the show. It has been over a month and I still think about that cake. Our server was wonderful and helped make the experience even better. It was my friend's birthday, and they made sure to bring something special out for her. She was pregnant, so she could not take the champagne they offered, but the gesture was still appreciated. Thank you for the cake and for such an amazing time. read more

Oh my goodness! The butter cake is a must! It is full of flavor and makes you want more when it's all gone, so eat it slow and savor every piece! The crabcakes were good. The broccolini was fresh and had a garlic butter taste that was really good. The creamed corn was good also. Our sever was friendly and very attentive. Highly recommended if you're looking for fine dining in the city. read more

I came for the warm butter cake. You must start with the warm buttery pull apart bread. The best starter is on the warm starter list. It has Vanilla Ice Cream, Fresh Whipped Cream, and Warm Caramel Sauce! Enjoy! read more

We were out running errands without any dinner plans in sight. He then thought, it's been a while! So here is where we came for dinner. We sat at the upstairs bar, were able to get a seat rather quickly before it got completely full. One thing that grossed me out a bit was watching a waiter pick something out of a customer drink by hand and sniff the drink--like nose all up in the cup--before whisking it away to an unknowing patron. Like ma'am? Unsanitary--have you not learned a thing or two over the past couple years! I also saw the bartender removing glasses from the dishwasher before it finished its cycle... again, unsanitary!!! But but i only observed each offense once. Aside from that? Bar team was fantabulous--attentive, helpful. Now it took well over 30 min for our oysters and lobster bisque starters to come out. Bc of that we were given a free cheesecake that we crushed when we got home. My lobster bisque was creamy, budding with flavor. They did not skimp on the lobster bits either, well done! The portion is absolutely made for 2--if you eat this all by yourself you are greedy you hear me?! lol. He loved the oysters and the fresh minnionete--he said they were some of the best he's had this oyster season! My lamb chops were cooked perfectly well and so was his steak. Both were tinder and juicy, seasoned very well. We loved the potato au gratin, it was one of the stars of our meal. The mushrooms were a little bland , but otherwise delicious. Overall, very good meal and choice for dinner. read more

Finding a foodie partner in crime to do life with was probably the best thing that's happened to me. I love love love to try new places and my better half knows that, so he is constantly taking me places I've never been. Our couple rule, if we haven't been together we haven't been at all. So, on our Sunday Funday, he chose Del Frisco's. It was time to update this review as it's been ages! As always, great pick lover! I love Double Eagle! I am a Del Frisco fan! City Center is conveniently located where this fine dining establishment is. Before COVID this used to be our stop after the office, it's also a family Christmas stop for me too. I LOVE this place. Even though I've been many times, Sunday Funday was my chance to come back to Double Eagle with MY guy! Ambiance is finer causal dining experience, I wouldn't say you have to be dressed up, as I've come causal but I've also come dressed up. Totally can do both. Let's get into it! I'm a fan of the Sea Bass and Filet! You can never go wrong! Lobster Mac - YES please! Drinks are always good pours! Highly recommend! Not quite 5 stars for me as dishes haven't been consistent during visits. I've had to send back items to get redone, and I don't like complaining but I'm also paying top dollar and want to eat. Still worthy of 4 stars. read more

I have to tip my cap to the staff at Del Frisco's for providing such a tremendous service throughout the evening. And when my meal was served, I was pleasantly surprised at how good their double lump crab cakes were ( full of crab meat with every bite ) While the lobster mac & cheese hit a serene high note that sent my taste buds into quite the 2-step. While visiting DC, I enjoyed dinner with my colleagues at this restaurant. I was very pleased as the meal was top tier. The steaks that we ordered were cooked perfectly and we were all pretty amazed with the sides. The lobster Mac and cheese was heavenly. They definitely set the bar high, as this was just about the best I've ever had. The atmosphere was very classy. They had a very nice drink menu as well. Lots of options to choose from. Our server Santa was the best. Can't wait to come back to town so I can visit this place again. read more

This is a staple in DC. It's always busy and overall the food and drinks will be good. Last minute decision to grab dinner here with a friend. Sat at the bar (because we were very casual) which was kinda busy. At first the bartenders weren't very attentive or friendly. We waited to be acknowledged and get menu for like 10 minutes. We almost just decided to get a table but waited it out. Not sure what that was about but the bartenders finally got their moods together and became nicer and attentive. We ordered a few cocktails and I got the braised short ribs and my friend got the surf and turf along with Rockefeller oysters. Everything was good. Service improved in the 2nd half so all in all it was a solid experience. City Center area is nice during the summer months. read more

Over priced steaks that have become mediocre compared to their nyc location, and the clientele is obnoxious

We made reservations for an early dinner, although I'm not sure why we chose a steakhouse since we don't eat steak. The menu didn't appeal to me for that reason, as I typically prefer a wider selection of vegan options. Having already tried two other restaurants in the area, we added this one to complete our list. If nothing more, we decided to get some photo content. Unfortunately, the weather was not suitable for outdoor photos; it started to rain, and we had to go inside. Since we were already there, my daughter ordered lobster mac and cheese, sautéed mushrooms, and a shrimp appetizer. I decided not to order anything for myself but sampled her dishes. While we waited, a staff member brought some delicious bread to the table, which was a nice touch. The lobster mac and cheese was creamy and packed with lobster in every bite. The mushrooms were perfectly cooked, but they were a bit over-salted. The shrimp appetizer was undercooked yet flavorful. The ambiance inside the restaurant was great. After the outdoor seating did not work out, we chose a table by the window overlooking the City Center shops. The ambient lighting was perfect, and the decor was elegant. Our waiter was okay, but I sensed he was somewhat annoyed that we didn't order entrees. After we placed our order, his energy shifted, and he became less attentive to our table. The restaurant is worth visiting, especially for steak lovers, as the restaurant's name suggests. There were some fish entrees available, but none appealed to me. From observation, the restaurant's bar is a popular attraction, which could be another reason to visit. Overall, while the menu didn't cater to my preferences, the food I did sample was good. The service was fair but not great, and the ambiance and location were outstanding. read more

I recently returned to Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse, a place I've enjoyed many times, and I felt compelled to share my experience. Everything I ordered was cooked to perfection, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to excellence in every dish. I am a Landry's President Club member. Well, that didn't matter at this location. Whenever I go to a Landry's restaurant as a President Club member, the manager always comes over to greet me and my experience is always validated. Well, not here. They could've cared less...that is until it was time to use my points to pay. What a train-wreck. Presenting my president's card to pay has ALWAYS been seamless at every other restaurant in the Landry's portfolio EXCEPT here. I don't even think they credited me properly for the meal. I ordered the pork chop and au gratin potatoes. My husband ordered the sea bass. The food itself was fine, but at the end of my meal, I had to bag my own food. This is a high end steakhouse. I don't bag my leftovers at Landry's lower end steakhouses and this is the luxury end of their brand. There was also a table in front of us where the patron was very unhappy and the manager just walked away from the table while the gentleman was mid-sentence. The gentleman got up and followed the manager which created a scene. No apology or acknowledgement. The customer service was subpar. Nothing like what I'm used to. I should've followed the reviews on Yelp where they have a 3.4 out of 5. The ambiance was ok. We had seating next to a large window so I could see the lit bare trees and the lights from the Chanel and LV store. Parking looked rough so we took an uber from our hotel. Overall, overpriced for the experience. Too many other steak and seafood restaurants to choose from with much better customer service. read more

Out host chose selections for our limited menu and everyone enjoyed what they had. For appetizers we all enjoyed the Nueske's Thick Cut Bacon. They was very tasty and had a surprising kick. 3.5 stars. Team and me had our quarterly meeting here and we ate family-style. + Fresh baked bread with glaze (yummy!) (tasted like a donut) + Wagyu Meatballs (yummy!) + Filet Mignon Medallions/over Mashed Potatoes (lunch menu - yummy!) + King Crab Rainbow Roll + Colossal Lump Crab Cocktail + Shanghai-Style Fried Calamari (yummy!) + Thick-Cut Nueske's Bacon + Sauteed mushrooms + Side of pasta + Side of fries + Half a dozen bottles of Pellegrino + Add a couple garden salads (croutons and Romaine) + Butter cake, caramel sauce and ice cream ** Bathrooms were immaculate ** Service was okay. Everything was satisfactory. My crab cakes weren't "colossal" by any stretch - overcooked and slightly burnt. My king crab rainbow roll was... a'ight. The meatballs were super tasty though! Two to an order and the sauce was super flavorful. Boss took care of the bill. I'm sure it was every bit of $700+. I'd come back for the butter cake alone. We were there at opening and pretty much the only patrons in the joint (upstairs) at the time so maybe they were just warming up or something - who knows. *Restaurant Week Review* It's been quite a while since I had been to Del Frisco's, but it's still a DC fave for me! Did Restaurant Week with a few friends last night. We were also celebrating a birthday. Everyone had a great time! They were nice enough to bring out dessert with a candle : ) Parking can be tricky around here. There is validated valet for $19. I parked down the street and paid via the ParkMobile app. Initially a few of us sat at the bar while we waited for the entire group to arrive. There's no happy hour here (not sure if that's during Restaurant Week or just in general, but just an FYI). There is a bar menu with some bar bites and some cocktails. I tried the hazelnut espresso martini. It was just ok - I've had much better and at $20, a tad pricey. The bar staff was nice. We got seated upstairs. It was definitely busy, but service wasn't lacking. Our server (didn't get her name) did a great job! She was attentive and friendly. We shared a bottle of the Malbec wine (it was really good). Everyone did the Restaurant Week special ($65 each) and shared the sides. The twice baked potato was my favorite. I did the caesar salad, 8 oz filet (done medium), and the cheesecake. My steak was done perfectly and seasoned well. Woot! There's still a few days left to check out Restaurant Week! Either way, add Del Frisco's to your list if you haven't yet. read more

Complete disregard to my dietary restrictions. I communicated clearly that I was a vegan and I was served blue cheese, olives after specifically asking for regular. I ordered a salad and requested balsamic vinaigrette as I do not consume dairy. He proceeds to bring an arbitrary dressing, after I specified balsamic, I asked the server what are the ingredients within this dressing? He did not respond. He did not know what the ingredients were. Huh? Please educate your staff regarding veganism vegans do not consume meat or dairy products. The servers should know the ingredients that are listed on the menu. It's not a joke. It's not a game. It should be taken seriously the servers demeanor regarding the matter was totally unprofessional, unacceptable, unapologetic ridiculous and retarded. He did not remove the martini from the bill or offer any apology. He simply stood there in a daze. He completely disregarded my clear communication regarding my dietary accommodations. The staff kept offering drinks like I was there for bottle service, meanwhile my food was apparently on a journey of self-discovery because it never arrived. This non-meat eater loves Del Frisco's! Why do I frequent steakhouses and don't eat steak? I go for the ambiance, freshly prepared food, & top tier customer service. I used to go with a colleague on Thursdays after work and meet very interesting people at the bar. I have also celebrated birthdays and other special events over the years. I'm a creature of habit so I typically start with one of the salads, lobster bisque , Shanghai style calamari, dynamite shrimp, or charred octopus. For entrées, it's the double crab cakes with lobster cream sauce, seared Chilean sea bass, seared scallops, ahi tuna,...basically all the seafood offerings. They consistently deliver delicious food that's plated well. The sides & drinks are also great. Once upon a time and many moons ago, I wrote my initial review for Del Frisco's and it was only three stars. Shame on me for not updating my review after returning SEVERAL times since 2014 and each time my experience has been better than what I put in writing back then. Spring forward to this past Friday. It was "Lil Sis' " turn to treat me for my bday and knowing Del Frisco's has always been easy to get to and always a vibe, so Double Eagle it is. The restaurant was bustling so service was surprisingly slow. So slow, the lovely manager came over, introduced herself and took our order. Once our drinks arrived, she made sure to let us know those were on the house for the unacceptable delay. That act alone holds so much weight with me and turned my frown upside down immediately.. classy move! We ordered the dynamite shrimp, lobster mac, lump crab cakes and of course, the birthday boy's blackened ribeye. Everything was superb! The manager and two additional servers checked on us our entire stay, correcting the initial wrong like it never happened.. Lol! The manager topped the meal off with a complimentary bday treat and one of the super friendly servers hooked a brotha up with a Casmigos bday shot! I'm thrilled I chose Del Frisco's this year! Maybe I'll make this spot my annual tradition when it's her turn to pay.. Lol!! read more

Visited DC for a conference a couple of weeks ago. We were invited on by two hosts on two separate nights to Del Frisco's. It has become a running joke now with my team that we will always choose Del Frisco's. Night one I had the short rib as my entree. We also ordered the calamari, the bacon, the crab cake and the meatballs for appetizers. All were fantastic. Everyone was genuinely pleased with the food. We had several dessert options but the butter cake was the clear winner. We were seated in the quieter upstairs side and it was nice.
