Quickly becoming one of my favorite places. Not merely because of the food, but the amazing service that I always get while coming. The food comes out great and fast, and the servers and staff are always helpful and friendly. I can't remember exactly what I ordered, as it was a special and not on the regular menu. It had a lemon butter sauce that was excellent! I hope they continue to serve this.

Came for dinner with a party of 10. Was happy to be able to get a last minute reservation for that size. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The ambience of the place was calm and not loud which was great so we could all have a conversation and hear each other. The drinks were great but a little pricey. The spa water drink was very good. Overall the food was Ok but not amazing. The BVG burger was cooked medium but it was dry and flavorless. The chicken parm was really good. Overall nice place, and great staff.

Stopped in for a cocktail only.. drink was made very well and the tender was quick to see me sit and take my order and was also quick at creating the drink. The ambiance is definitely a steakhouse type of vibe with wood trim on everything and was clean and friendly. I enjoyed my visit for a cocktail and will probably return for a food visit

The food and the service were wonderful. I especially like the pea and the arugula salad. The cheesecake was a bit too heavy for me. The ribeye was perfectly cooked, but it was very very fatty. Point More fat than usual. The salmon was outstanding!

Bobby Van's is not what it used to be or maybe, just maybe good choices have gotten so much better in D.C. through the years that Bobby Van's is actually showing its true colors. The service here is good, and the ambiance is old and classic but nothing amazing or memorable. I don't have much more to say than there are other choices in the immediate area, literally a "stones" throw away. Maybe try them.

A nice traditional steak house with interesting history on the menu. We had steaks, including a tomahawk, potatoes, salads, mushrooms, and brussels. Delightful food and evening.

The restaurant is HUGE! Took us a minute before we got to a private space for our dinner. All of the staff were really nice and attentive. We had a preset menu, with choice of salad/French onion soup, and entree, and a small dessert. The cream spinach was outstanding!!

Fantastic food and excellent customer service! Our server, Apolinar, went above and beyond, even surprising us with complimentary drinks for our anniversary dinner. We had the shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad, salmon, and shrimp pasta, which were absolutely amazing. The drinks were strong too!

Bobby Van's is a must try in DC. They offer a variety of steaks and it was amazing. This is the original location, they had very good drinks to go along with the food. Appetizers were tasty especially the calamari. The style of the restaurant is comforting and great ambiance. Our waitresses were very attentive, and made sure everyone was doing great throughout the evening. I would suggest remodeling the bathrooms but, overall great place.

As always Bobby V's delivers a great experience. The crew and I have made this our annual Friday Night Howard University Homecoming Dinner spot. Good food, drinks, wine, and fellowship! The filet was cooked to medium rare perfection! Melted like butter with every bite. The service staff rocks. See y'all next Homecoming! BTW...the lobster bisque was outstanding.

I visited here on a Wednesday night with my son. I found a coupon on Groupon that I used. I made up a 7:30pm reservation. The restaurant a romantic type of ambiance and atmosphere. Even though, it was nice for my son and I. I wanted us to have a nice meal before we left out of town. I got a smoked margarita for my drink and I got a lemonade for kid. The drinks came out fairly quickly. We were given complementary bread. The second drinks I got was a Washington Apple. Both drinks were tasty. We had onion soup and shrink cocktail as the appetizer. I wasn't a huge fan of the onion soup. For food, we got son chicken Parmesan, salmon, broccoli, mashed potatoes, and rice. My kid said he wasn't hungry and didn't eat much of his food. He ate it the next day. I highly enjoyed my food and have no complaints. For dessert, I got NY cheesecake, which was yummy! When we were done eating, I boxed up our food. I wonder if that was the standard or not as I saw other tables being brought their leftovers in bags. Overall, the food was tasty. The service staff were really attentive at first but slacked off at time went on.

I've been a few times over the years, and here are some notes from my most recent visit. I got a last minute reservation for 4 people at 7 PM on a Sunday, thanks to Resy notifications. They sat us in the back, which is not the best seating area, but sometimes you take what you can get. The back area is not the most spacious or prettiest area. I sampled a carafe of red wine, a cheese plate, the delicious (free) bread basket, the black bass grenobloise, and trout amandine. The carafe was perfectly fine; I'm not into wine enough to judge. The cheese plate ($6.5 per piece) was an okay size and came with some honey, jam, marcona almonds, and four slices of bread -- the bread was different from the white and cranberry-walnut in the main bread basket; this one was a smaller loaf, sliced thin, with some grains and apricot (?) in it. There are apparently 11 different cheeses to pick from, which the waiter had to recite to us. A small, printed cheese menu would be welcome here. We only heard about 5 of the cheeses before we decided to just pick some, because who wants to listen -- and remember -- the spiels about 11 different cheeses? The Black Bass Grenobloise ($34) had pomme puree, capers, and lemon. It was ok but I preferred the trout. The Trout Amandine ($36) had toasted almonds (lots), haricots verts, lemon brown butter. It was a classic rendition and it was great. Service was friendly, if a little slow.

I've been on a shakshuka kick lately, so I opted for the the Sweet Potato Shakshuka, which is described as: Sweet Potato Curry, with Chickpeas and Sunny Eggs with a the chicken add-on - gotta get that protein in, after all. This was one of the most unique shakshukas I'd ever had... It literally tasted like a curry dish you might get at your local Indian restaurant, with a bit of a brunch flair to it. The curry itself had a wee bit of spice and was a bit sweet - but that could have been from the sweet potatoes. The chicken was served in a bowl on the side, which felt a bit... odd... I would've expected it to be incorporated into the main dish. It was kind of bland and a bit lukewarm, so I don't know that I'd order that again... but I would definitely order this again!

While I was tempted to order the falafel, I couldn't justify shelling out another $5 for another upcharge and spend $10 on them for a total of $26 for just an entree - when these 2 upcharges should have been included in the entree by default. She was most likely on auto pilot and appeared embarrassed when she realized it. I politely smiled and said (confidently), table for 1. We solo diners need to be loud and proud! I digress... Before being seated I found the restroom. I found it odd that it was extremely dim. The main dining room was brighter than the restroom! I also saw the Photo Booth. Interesting addition. $5 for pictures. I was seated at a small round table with two chairs by the window. The restaurant was plenty busy, and I'm just glad I wasn't asked if I wanted to sit at the bar (I didn't). My server Noel brought two bottles of water: still and sparkling. I requested lemon slices, which he brought. And I proceeded to finish the entire bottle of sparkling by the end of the meal...guess I was thirsty! But I appreciated the option of both. I forgot to ask for a straw, but saw them in a container at the register right behind my table, so I got one myself. After ordering I noticed a nearby table had some bread so I asked Noel if they served complimentary bread. He said yes and apologized for not bringing it initially. Not that I needed it, but I don't eat bread with butter often and this was a night out to indulge a bit. There were two slices, nothing special. My food arrived within about 10-15 minutes and looked so scrumptious. I ordered the lamb and short rib meatballs and Brussels sprouts. The meatballs were pretty good, but what made them even better was the tzatziki sauce. I didn't realize the green rice was on one side of the plate until I was almost done. That tzatziki sauce was really all I needed to go with the meatballs. It was cool and creamy to go with the dry, meatiness of the meatballs. I honestly wish there had been more of it! I did not finish the rice, which didn't look super appetizing because of the intense green color. I will say though, I'm not a fan of spicy food but the tzatziki had a kick. I think perhaps due to chopped jalapeños. I tried to avoid them once I realized. The Brussels were delicious! Roasted to perfection, not too charred and not too mushy. I requested the green goddess sauce on the side because I'm not a huge sauce person, but once I tried it, I couldn't stop. Again, the combination of the creaminess of the sauce with the flakiness of the Brussels was a genius pairing. During the meal the beverage manager stopped by. I didn't have any drinks with the meal, but perhaps I will return to see what they have. Noel brought the bill at my request, then brought over the portable device so I could pay at the table. While that process is efficient, it's always awkward leaving a tip when the server is standing right there. Anyhow, overall it was a good experience and a delicious meal!

Warm, tender, and comforting, with the richness of the butter and sweetness of the jam making them hard to stop eating. The blue crab deviled eggs were another wonderful start, creamy and rich with the delicate sweetness of the crab and just the right amount of savory flavor. The rib eye was exceptional, beautifully cooked, incredibly tender, and full of that deep, beefy, slightly smoky flavor you want from a great steak. I also loved the grilled okra. The grilling gave it a wonderful char and smokiness while still keeping the freshness of the vegetable. The prawns were another standout, tender and succulent with a slightly sweet, briny flavor that paired beautifully with the rest of the meal. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared, and every dish brought something different to the table. The music venue is located below the Hamilton, a storied dining experience in the 600 block of 14th Street in D.C. Doors would open at 6:30 p.m. for a performance that would begin, right on time, at 8 p.m. I travel alone, and prefer not to join tables, opting instead to sit where single seats are available. The Hamilton - Live offers both: most of the seating is in groups of 4- or 6-seat benches where groups gather, and there are rows of single seats on a slight rise above the forward seating, offering a great view of the stage and the screens above the stage. I arrived around 7 p.m. Within minutes Marie greeted me with a menu and instructions to post a card on a holder at my place, signaling her to stop by to take my order. The menu was eclectic, with sushi, pizza, tacos, salads, wings, cheeseburger sliders, and nachos. There are robust vegetarian and gluten-free selections, and a fully licensed bar. I placed the card in the holder at my seat and Marie returned to take my order: sushi - shrimp tempura ($14), with a can of Nutrl Pineapple ($8) and a double G&T ($23.18). The crowd was gathering, and the attending wait staff were moving with speed, filling orders. My meal arrived in great shape about 15 minutes after I placed the order. Nicely executed sushi! Sound quality in the venue is great, and the restroom was clean and well lit. And as the catalogues of both the Dead and Steely Dan inspire dancing, the dance floor was filled right from the start. The band's vibe was low key and spontaneous, with lots of smiling on the dance floor. Total with a 22% tip was $79 (which included a white Russian nightcap). Reasonable fare for the DMV. Nashville Fried chicken sandwhich: I was quite disappointed in this, considering how good everything else was. The chicken was very dry and overly salty IMO. Not at all spicy either. Thyme fries: Loved these! Really cool flavor profile. I would happily come back and try a different entree.

Runners just do that. Run around the restaurant throwing food down on tables and run back to the kitchen. Never checking on anyone to see if they need anything and how the food is. I ordered the SW Salad ($16.50) with a steak add on ($9.00) at medium temp. I also ordered a cup of Clam Chowder ($5.95) as an appetizer. Chowder came out pretty much right on top of my salad, but no big deal. Chowder was decent taste, but only found one clam. Ok whatever. Salad came out looking like a side salad on a large plate with five slices of rare, tough steak. It was so rare, that it was extremely hard to cut through, but again, who was I going to talk to about it. No wait staff would even look my way. I couldn't even get a refill on my water and there is no place in the app to order a glass of water...so that's that. Unfortunately it was just an extremely bad experience for $40. I'll be looking for dinner somewhere else tomorrow night.
