I had an opportunity to introduce some and reacquaint others with why OCEAN PRIME is one of the best restaurants for service, food, and cocktails. When we arrived, not only did we have an amazing greeting from staff who gave us every impression that we were the most important people in the restaurant. Our server was beyond top-notch. Tiana set the standard for how a server should engage thoughtfully and helpfully. We had the iconic berries and bubbles, black, orchid cocktails, glasses of wine, and, of course, the goat cheese ravioli. For main entrées, we had an amazing special of lobster and scallop risotto, and Ribeye steaks, both Oscar-style and plain. Our side items were the jalapeño, gratin, potatoes, lobster, mac & cheese, brussels sprouts, and broccoli. The pace of service was perfect. We had plenty of time to enjoy the cocktails, appetizers, and dinner. The food came out extremely well seasoned, hot, and to everyone's liking. The general manager, Tim, took time to come by the table to make sure everything was going well and really put the icing on the cake by ensuring our entire experience lived up to the Cameron Mitchell brand. Had a wonderful experience. I booked the reservation day of, including special accommodations since it was my girlfriend's birthday. A special birthday menu/sheet was on the table upon our arrival to our seats. Our waiter, Rafael, 5-star hospitality service. He gave us a thorough overview of the menu and the daily specials. He made sure to bring out my special request for the Warm Butter Cake (highly recommend)! My girlfriend ordered the nigiri, while I kept it simple with 8oz filet. Rafael recommended the mashed potatoes as a favorable side dish, and it paired well with the meal. Overall, 10/10 experience. Highly recommend if you're in the area! Saturday dinner here. I had noticed this place while leaving a dinner a couple weeks ago and put it on the list. I made a reservation for 8:30 and we showed up right on the dot. We were sat shortly after in a large booth which I highly prefer over the half chair half booth seating. We started with the French onion soup and Caesar salad. The soup was really good - the broth wasn't sweet but dark and flavorful. The Caesar was the standard issue. After reminding our waiter 3 times we finally got a bread basket which came with a small bread loaf, thin flat breadsticks with everything seasoning, and small pretzel sticks that were halved. The butter was also a nice touch - whipped butter. Seeing as it was my birthday dinner - I decided to splurge and ordered the special Japanese A5 Wagyu steak - 6oz. The steak melted upon touching the mouth. Highly recommended. Wow. We also added a twice baked potato, and chophouse corn as sides. I liked these as well - the potato was massive. For dessert I ordered the 10 story carrot cake and a cup of coffee. The cake was intense and I liked it a lot. The coffee was botched and the grounds seeped into the coffee and the coffee tasted horrible. Overall - very good. 4/5 read more

It was our first time trying Ocean Prime and this place did not disappoint! Takes me a lot to give 5 stars and this place deserves it. The topnotch service, elegant ambiance, food and desserts were all amazing. We started with some seafood, steak, and ended with sweets to celebrate my special day. I had high expectations for Ocean Prime in Washington, DC, but unfortunately the experience did not live up to the reputation or the high prices. Despite having a reservation, we were still made to wait, which was not a great start to the evening. One detail that also stood out was that bread was never brought to our table before the meal, even though we noticed other tables were served bread. The wait for the main course was also much longer than expected. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing across the board. The sea bass was only half cooked, the Brussels sprouts were burned, and the lobster spaghetti lacked flavor entirely. At that point, we decided not to even bother trying dessert. Service overall was average, nothing particularly attentive or memorable. The dining room is elegant and well decorated, with a stylish atmosphere, though it is a bit dark. Unfortunately, between the loud conversations, background music, and poor acoustics, the space felt much noisier than enjoyable. Given the high prices, the overall experience simply did not justify the cost. With so many excellent dining options in Washington, DC, this is not a place I would recommend. read more

Came here late on a Saturday night with no reservation after watching a Drunk Shakespeare show and the classy ambience, service, and vibes were amazing. This is a perfect late night dinner date spot. The oysters (particularly the West Coast variety) were incredible. We also had martinis and the Parmesan truffle fries which were delicious.. maybe the best fries I've had in the area, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Love Ocean Prime the more and more that I come. I almost always sit at the bar and all of the bartenders are great. Super attentive. Constantly moving finished plates away. Keeping your glass filled. And really friendly. It's almost always the same guys there as well and they remember faces. I tried a lot of food from their lounge menu during this visit and everything was delicious. My favorites included the, prime beef sliders, lamb lollipops, crispy fish tacos and the calamari. I also tried the mumbo shrimp and the ocean roll and I thought they were just ok. Probably wouldn't order again. Stop into Ocean Prime for lunch or happy hour. It's beautiful and cozy inside. And parking isn't too bad as well. read more

I absolutely love this restaurant! I have only been a few times for happy hour, but every time has been great. The interior is beautiful. The bartenders and staff are friendly. The cocktails are delicious. And the food is tasty! Parking is not that great in the area (as expected in the city) but there is a parking garage close by. Had a Seafood Tower of; Oysters (delicious Rose @ Garnet), Shrimps, Crab Legs, and Lobster. Then we had spectacular Raviolis, Sea Bass, and Filet Mignon. However the Strip Steak was bad; dry, tasteless, seemed old. Took a few bites and has gastric consequences that night. They did not charged for it though. At least I didn't get the lunch menu... which was sort of strange. Ambiance is fantastic-- it's a super pretty restaurant! Ambience is very nice. Service was great and professional. Food was to die for. Lamb lollipops were my fave. Nicely seasoned. Medium rare. Melt in your mouth. Charred to perfection. I also enjoyed the Parmesan popcorn. Deviled eggs, on the other hand, were a little underwhelming though. Braised beef ribs & scallops (Surf n Turf) were pretty decent. We chose Ocean Prime to host our small wedding celebration and we are so happy we did. My husband and I got married last weekend in a small ceremony with just our family. We wanted to have an intimate dinner after and ocean prime exceeded our expectations. We had a group of 15 and reserved a private dining space. Our wedding finished up a little early and most of our party arrived at the restaurant 35 minutes before our reservation but they still sat everyone immediately and began drink orders. When we arrived all our guests were seated and happy. We were immediately greeted with congratulations from staff and the event coordinator, Ebony, greeted and informed us they left gift bags for us. We did a four course menu with appetizers, starters, entrees, and dessert plus extra sides for the whole table. They had champagne waiting in the room as we requested and the dinner was off to a great start. Our server, Gustavo was great. He was tentative and made sure to bring the chef in to speak to one our of our guests with an allergy. The food was AMAZING. We had crab cakes, fried calamari, and goat cheese ravioli as table appetizers- all were so delicious. For starters, everyone had a choice of caesar salad or lobster bisque and for dinner everyone chose from a roasted chicken dish, 16oz ribeye, and scallop parmesan risotto. We also added the truffle mac and cheese and truffle fries as extra sides. We were all amazed at how good every dish was. Then for dessert, everyone chose from a chocolate peanut butter pie or warm butter cake with ice cream- again each delectable! Our guests were literally raving about the food and service. We had such a lovely evening and it was the perfect wedding dinner. We were there for over 2.5 hours and never felt rushed and enjoyed every second of our dinner. As mentioned above, they gave my husband and I two gift bags which included champagne, cookies, and candles. Truly so thoughtful! This is totally unacceptable and a complete waste of time today is my birthday and I'm so disheartened to not even have gotten the chance to try this place for the first timewhat happened. The Chilean Sea Bass was the star of the evening for me: exquisitely tender, delicately buttery, and served in a generous portion that insisted I skip enjoying in the warm butter cake at our table. My dining companion indulged in an entree of Wagyu Beef, luxuriously paired with lobster and crab. The dish was everything one hopes for--succulent, rich, and flawlessly executed. Service, however, was where the evening lost a bit of its shimmer. While our waiter was pleasant enough, he proved inattentive, disappearing for long stretches after taking our order. The lack of follow-up and the delay in settling our check were out of step with the otherwise polished experience. Still, Ocean Prime's culinary finesse and inviting ambiance more than warrant a return visit from me. The service misstep cost it a perfect score. So I give it four out of five stars. read more

I tried the following: repasado paper plane (5/5; delicious. Very well balanced, tasty and strong) and 16 oz ribeye with bearnaise sauce (5/5; perfectly cooked and seasoned. The bearnaise sauce paired perfectly. I wish it came with some kind of side considering it cost $70 but it is a four $$$$ restaurant). My husband and I visited Ocean Prime a few weeks ago, and we highly enjoyed our dining experience that we definitely would return. The food was fantastic. We ordered the 22 oz steak to share between the two of us. It was a good portion with the side dishes to share. We also ordered the lobster mac and cheese, shrimp, and jalapeño potatoes au gratin, and it was all so savory and delicious. Our specified server was kind and did great with answering questions, overall, I think they moved slow with serving, replenishing items and providing the bill when requested. We decided to give Ocean Prime a try for my friend's birthday. We went to make reservations and they have a disclaimer that anyone who doesn't show in your party, will incur a $25 charge. With that being said, you do have to have a card on file to book. When we first entered into the restaurant, it looked very upscale with nice lighting and friendly staff. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and answered all our questions regarding the menu. For appetizers, we went with the deviled eggs which wasn't the most popular amongst the table. We'd give it a 3/5. The table automatically came with bread and the truffle popcorn, which was pleasantly tasty. For my main dish, I ordered the ribeye medium Oscar style and my steak was cooked medium well in my opinion. Being that it was still good I decided to keep it and eat it anyways. For my side dish I ordered the cream spinach, which was also really good. I did try my friend's mac & cheese which I liked and lastly, I ordered a creamy espresso martini, which wasn't what I expected, but it wasn't bad. Overall, the atmosphere and experience is very nice. The food here was amazing. I really enjoyed the king crab legs. I got them warm and they came with a butter dipping sauce. The ribeye was flavorful and the mac and cheese was good. The sushi here was surprisingly good as well. I liked both the ocean roll and the dynamite roll, but my favorite was the dynamite roll. I liked how it came with extra fried shrimp on top. In 2000 while living in Ohio, I dined at The Ocean Club and the rest is history. This business will always be a favorite of mine. I took my friend out for a belated birthday dinner when I was in town and she chose for us to go to Ocean Prime. This was my first time here and they were very accommodating as we had to move our reservations a few times due to the rain and delays with Uber. We got there at 9pm on a Friday and got seated in the middle booth. I noticed most of the patrons weren't up to par to the dress code that's listed on their website, but nonetheless, it was a celebration for us so we came dressed accordingly. Our server was phenomenal and it pains me that I forgot his name. He walked us through the menu and I decided to get the lobster tail, and my friend got the salmon. The lobster was so filling and delicious!!! He also brought out a lovely dessert for her to celebrate her birthday. We enjoyed the entire experience and the ambiance was top notch. read more

OP is one of my fav places to go for lamb chop lollipops. Decided to take myself out to the bar and walked right in. Plenty of seats. I was greeted after a few minutes, ordered my food and drink and everything came out fairly quick. The lamb was just as I remembered. Tender, juicy and flavorful. I almost wanted another order. The half portion size sides Mac n cheese and creamed spinach are just enough to eat. There will be no leftovers. I'll be back for HH before the year is over. read more

When we arrived at 6:15pm for our reservation, the restaurant was already very full with a few large table. We were nicely seated in a booth sway from the larger groups. Service was amazing. So many specials provided. Waiter knew his menu very well. He sold us on the halibut special with lobster chunks. 2 of us got this dish. Bread and butter were great and was brought out complimentary. I enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner at Ocean Prime on April 3rd! My husband made a reservation, and, though we were delayed more than 30 minutes by an unexpected road closure in Columbia Heights, the wonderful staff at Ocean Prime kept our table open. We received a courtesy call to confirm that we were still joining them for dinner and were seated shortly after we arrived. I was so pleased to see the gorgeous celebratory decor on the table--it was a special touch that made my birthday even more memorable. Irma attended to us that night, and she was fabulous. She answered our questions about menu offerings and ensured we were well taken care of, from start to finish. The food was phenomenal! I ordered the Chilean sea bass entree; my husband ordered the teriyaki salmon; and we shared the delicious calamari and truffle mac & cheese. For dessert, we shared the butter cake, which was absolutely amazing. I stopped here on a Thursday afternoon to grab lunch. When I stepped inside, I was surprised to see that it wasn't too many people there. I was greeted by the young lady as soon as I stepped in the door and she asked me my preference of seating. In which she gave me the directions to the bar and I sat down. Now it took about five minutes or so for the lady at the bar to greet me and bring the menu. However, my experience was great. I ordered a glass of Cabernet along with the scallops and risotto and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the risotto was so creamy and delicious.
