Ocean Prime is the prime spot! Luckily we were able to get reservation on a Tuesday night as there's a conference nearby. When we arrived at 6:15pm for our reservation, the restaurant was already very full with a few large table. We were nicely seated in a booth sway from the larger groups. Service was amazing. So many specials provided. Waiter knew his menu very well. He sold us on the halibut special with lobster chunks. 2 of us got this dish. Bread and butter were great and was brought out complimentary. Nice warm selection. We were so full with cocktails, Caesar salad and enttees. Very enjoyable at dinner. read more

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! The attention to detail is amazing! We started off with the lobster bisque and crabcake. Amazing! My husband had the lobster pasta and I had the twin tail lobsters and both dishes were amazing. The bread was amazing. The service was amazing Because it was my husband 75th birthday. We had the butter cake and it was amazing! Samuel was our waiter and he was, what do you think, I'm gonna say amazing! Needless to say we had an amazing time and we cannot wait to go to the ocean prime restaurant in Arizona when we return back home! read more

I stopped here on a Thursday afternoon to grab lunch. When I stepped inside, I was surprised to see that it wasn't too many people there. I was greeted by the young lady as soon as I stepped in the door and she asked me my preference of seating. In which she gave me the directions to the bar and I sat down. Now it took about five minutes or so for the lady at the bar to greet me and bring the menu. However, my experience was great. I ordered a glass of Cabernet along with the scallops and risotto and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the risotto was so creamy and delicious. If you have the chance, stop by! read more

Service 5 ; Food 5; Atmosphere 5. Everything was Spot On! It was our first time here, even though we are local. Shame on us.... Our server was attentive, professional and personable. The food- oh my goodness! The sea bass ceviche was Perfectly prepared. The Calamari was delightfully seasoned. Our entrees - I got the red snapper (highly recommend) my husband got the sea bass (also delicious - but mine was better ) Wine list was excellent. Cocktails are fun and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was lively - but you could still have a conversation.... Perfect evening! Thank you and we will be Back!!! read more

Food - came here for the happy hour and tried their spicy tuna and hamachi roll. Also had their prime beef sliders. Sushi rolls were good but not that good. Sliders was ok. Felt like it came from the vending machine a little. Had a good pint and some wine. Understood that this isn't a sushi place but then again, even the sliders could kick it up a notch. Service - bar area was busy with 2 main barmen but i felt that they could use 1 more person for help. Definitely need to flag them down to get some attention. Ambiance - classy looking and good for events. Just unsure of the quality of food for the ones that I had. Verdict - at least from the bar area happy hour, it was just average but expected more because of the ambiance and the loaded bar area. But maybe just drinks then and no food? read more

We made reservations at the restaurant at the last minute. We went a little earlier, and they sat us right away. Jonathan was our waiter, extra attentive, and recommended different dishes. Came by our table to check on us. The ambiance was cozy, and the staff was amazing. read more

We celebrated my wife's birthday dinner at Ocean Prime on G street and really enjoyed every aspect of the experience. The staff that greeted us were very friendly and our server was excellent. Several people swarming all with different roles working together to ensure that you are satisfied. I had a very fresh Caesar Salad with just the right amount of dressing. My entree was the Willow Bend a double bone lamb dish with an incredible garlic thyme jus. My wife absolutely loved the Lobster Bisque and her Sea Bass entree was flakey and flavorful. Ocean Prime is pricey but worth the splurge for special occasions. The decor is classy as expected at a fine dining restaurant but without the stuffy atmosphere. read more

Attentive service. So many delicious menu options. Wonderful drink menu. Great location.

This is the third Ocean Prime location we've been in the past 6 months with Chicago & Las Vegas late last year. We keep finding reasons to locate an OP in our travel destinations since we've not had a bad experience and this location is no different than the previous two. I booked a table for two on a Friday night for 7PM in the dining area, due last minute change in timeline I had to reschedule at a later time but had to settle on bar seating via Open Table. Upon arrival I asked if it's possible to get in the dining area, No Problem! It ~10 minutes we were sitting down and placing our orders. The ambiance is similar to the other two, slightly louder because of couple parties happening in the bar area, but it didn't have a negative impact on our night. Our server David was friendly and attentive, but we came for the food and it did not disappoint. The Tuna, Salmon Belly, and Wagyu beef Nigiri is a must, if you like Sushi. We split a good portion of Lobster Bisque, trust me - it's flavorful. Twin lobster and 8oz filet is a with side perfectly cooked-crunchy asparagus is a great combo for light eater. Wrap up the dinner with Crème Brûlée. Overall, once again satisfied, onto the next OP location. read more

Ocean Prime was the perfect place to celebrate my husband's birthday! First, the service is spectacular and you have multiple services making sure you have enough water, a clean table, and clean cutlery. The food was delicious. My husband had the crab cakes and I had the chilled shrimp cocktail, both repeats for sure. The steak and lobster tail did not disappoint, it was more than enough. For sides, we had the garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms, and they paired perfectly with the steak and lobster. Since my husband is lactose intolerant, they brought him a complimentary scope of mango sorbet with a candle, very thoughtful! Overall great experience, and we can't wait to return and try their Happy Hour. read more

Outstanding service. Five Star. Professional, attention to detail. Food is amazing melt in your mouth. Have visited a few times. Michael is the bar tender, first rate. Host staff and wait staff are all pros. Scallops, steak, fish, lobster, potatoes, salad are all star attractions. If you want to experience Ritz Carlton level of service and top tier ding this is the place. Immaculate bathrooms. Highly recommend. Can't wait to return. read more

When I got a lil money, Ocean Prime was the first steakhouse I would take myself out to eat. I love a solo date here or a girls night! You HAVE to get their signature cocktail which is the bubbles and berries -- a delightful cocktail made with dry ice! Their fish is fresh and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My favorite is the blackened snapper and their bisque! read more

Really a 3. 5 - we (the hubby and me) came here on Valentine's Day which I do not recommend as they put more tables and chairs in the restaurant to accommodate more people, but in turn it decreases the experience. We were sat in what is normally a banquet room, they squeezed four tables in there which wasn't best. The water was in a cove to the left of me - when the staff needed water to re-up patrons, I had to scoot my chair up, so they could squeeze in to grab the water, the person behind me had to do the same thing. This happened twice right after I was sat and I ultimately asked to be moved and was quickly accommodated. Our new seat location was freezing cold LOL, we couldn't win. Our drinks and food were all good, outside of my husband's entree which was fine, but not great. They provide you with bread, there is this pretzel bread that is so freaking good, like you have to tell yourself not to eat too much of it as you know it will ruin your meal/appetite type of bread. It was soft, hot and only made better with butter. The hubby and I split a Caesar salad to start with, the salad was a fairly large portion and gave us each a really healthy amount, the salad was well dressed, fresh and good. I am all over the place with this review, but I forgot to mention that I got one of their popular drinks - berries and bubbles and it was so darn good (whispering: and expensive). For my entree, I got a special, it was something like cod, with some lobster ravioli in a delicious sauce, it was bomb. It was so flavorful, so delicate and overall two thumbs up. The hubby got the Saddleberk farms pork, it was just okay, not a lot to say about it, the hubby said it tasted better the following day. We also got a side of creamed spinach, it was the creamed spinach both me and my hubby have ever had, it was so bomb, so flavorful, hot and literally perfection! read more

Stellar service, pretty good food, decent cocktails, amazing dessert. I had high hopes for the chargrilled oysters. Those are my favorite things to eat in New Orleans and I was hoping to find something in DC that was at least somewhat comparable. Alas, it was not to be. Instead of butter garlic and copious amounts of cheese, I think they just put a little bit of butter in the oyster and then cooked it on the grill. Huge missed opportunity here. I expected much more from this dish. The fried calamari was pretty good. Nothing to write home about but a crowd pleaser nonetheless. The Whiskey Clover cocktail was interesting. I expected the ingredients to play better together, but I think the flavor of the cognac got lost in the other ingredients. Either that or there wasn't enough cognac in the recipe to allow the flavor notes to stand out. It just didn't taste balanced to me. A little too sweet. I actually liked the 'Nogroni' mocktail better. It had plenty of personality without any alcohol. Not an easy feat to pull off but they did it. One of my dining companions ordered the baked lobster mac and cheese to share with the table. This was really good and definitely intended for sharing. It's rich, full of huge chunks of lobster and delightfully bubbly and cheesy. I had high hopes for the Chilean sea bass but ultimately it was nothing to write home about. It's normally one of my favorite seafood dishes, but unfortunately what was offered here was forgettable. Seriously. I don't remember any of the details of the dish. The star of the show in my opinion was the chocolate peanut butter pie. You absolutely must get this dessert. The description is somewhat deceptive as it's not so much a pie the way that you would envision a slice of pie for dessert. Instead it is an individually portioned dessert experience. The chocolate exterior is this silky glossy beautiful ganache, and inside is a rich fluffy peanut butter filling. If you like Reese's cups, you will be absolutely obsessed with this dessert. The absolute best part of my meal, and one of the best things that Ocean Prime has to offer in my opinion. I would come back just for that dessert. read more

I saw lots of reviews mention Mila but figured we'd never experience her as our server, but we got Mila and she was just as amazing as described! She's incredibly kind, professional, and attentive. 10/10! Ocean Prime is a beautiful restaurant near Metro Center. The food was very good--and we ordered a lot of it. My bone in filet was just a touch overcooked, but I switched with my husband whose filet came out perfectly. The Mac and cheese was solid. We also got a customized seafood tower with shrimp, lobster and crab legs. It was good but not amazing. The things that are worth coming here for are 1) the espresso martini, and 2) the butter cake, which is out of this world delicious. The butter cake alone is worth checking this place out. Overall, a 4.2/5 (this place is pretty pricey so you want everything to be outstanding to justify the prices). It's worthy of a visit! read more

It was sooo good after all these years to see Richard, also known as the best bartender ever!! The service is impeccable and the drinks and food are consistent! Ocean Prime in DC deserves a five star review for several reasons. The greeting and welcome at the door was genuine and lovely. The lighting was very good - soft and subtle, but not too dark. The professionals who took care of my husband and me at our table were wonderful. But Raphael, the lead of our table hosts, was truly extraordinary. Can't remember the last time I was at a restaurant with such an extraordinary waiter. Lovely, gracious, and knowledgeable - particularly about wine. Oh yeah - the food. Right. Need to talk that bit up. Holy Mary. Get the goat cheese ravioli if you want the best bit of food heaven in your mouth. Get the warm bread basket if you love bread. Get the loaded baked potato if you want leftovers for brunch for four. And get the 7oz. Waygu filet if you love yourself and life completely. Also hope you get a waiter as gracious, knowledgeable and lovely as Raphael. I'm sure the rest of the staff is just as wonderful as well. read more

Ocean Prime (although a chain of sorts) remains one of my favorite restaurants in DC. The service staff is very friendly and attentive, and the food is dependably good. Although some of the price points are a bit high (e.g, 17 dollars for mashed potatoes), the entree offerings are both aesthetic and tasty. Generally speaking, it is worth a visit and always a good pick for a special occasion. read more

I rarely write reviews, but the experience we had here for our business dinner was so special, we just had to thank them again. From the cleanliness of the restaurant, and bathrooms!, the hostess who were so helpful when our reservation changed, to our waitress, Anna, who was attentive, patient and knowledgeable! Every recommendation she made was a hit. The food, and service was hands down some of the best we've had in dc. The oysters were perfect, the sea bass, is out of this world delicious, and the butter cake, is worth another trip alone! My guests are still in awe! The ambience of this place is great for an intimate diner, outing. The staff was very attentive. The bar area was very nice and the service was wonderful. The steak wasn't mind blowing great but cooked well. The shrimp scampi add-on we had on our ribeye was the highlight of the dish for sure. We ordered the Ocean Roll and the fish was very fresh but the rice was overcooked! So disappointed as it took away from the overall experience of the sushi itself. Goes to show the little things matter. Overall, my partner and I enjoyed our dining here and would recommend for a birthday or anniversary dinner read more

This has to be the most ridiculous situation of waiting for a servicer to come take a order, member of the party eating and almost done eating and food still haven't came. Ocean Prime was a great restaurant that I'd rate maybe closer to a 3.5. The service was pretty good, the waitress was nice and the staff kept refreshing my water. Onto the food. The salmon sushi special has to have been the best sushi roll i've ever had. Truely delicious. The french onion soup was good but i wish they had used gruyère and not only swiss. The brussels sprouts were not very good and were just drowning in balsamic. The mac and cheese was actually very good but shockingly didn't taste like truffle, i didn't mind. The carrot cake is FANTASTIC! Overall good place just very expensive for some okay dishes. I'd go again and only get what i knew was really fantastic. read more

I ate here at the suggestion of someone and they did not steer me wrong. the decor is nice and the staff was very pleasant. The customer service was great and the service staff was very attentive. any question that I had was answered and suggestions were provided. There was no attempt to upsell or steer from my desired order. Although my reservation was for a later time, they accommodated seating me an hour earlier. They did not look busy and I left after their closing time, but did not feel rushed to order, eat, or leave. Sandra was great. I ordered the lobster linguine and it was soooo good. came out fresh and steaming hot. The complimentary bread was good, too. I couldn't eat much in order to make sure I had room for my entree. The portion or my entree was more than enough. The lobster was slightly overcooked for my taste, but was not inedible and did not take away from the rest of the dish. The spice was not overpowering, either. I would definitely return. A good first experience. read more

Nice ambiance, located in a prime location. We made a reservation and got immediately seated, but it was not very busy on a Sunday night. They do have a dress code (it is not very strict -- dress nicely, shirt, pants, shoes). Food was good. Nothing that blew me away. The goat cheese ravioli was nice, enjoyable if you like the taste of cheese (duh, i guess). I had a chilean sea bass as well, which was a touch salty but cooked very well.
