ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I had tickets for The National and did an online search of nearby spots to have happy hour before the show. On Fogo de Chão's website, I was pleased to find a promotion stating that its happy hour was "all day, every day" and "in the dining room and bar." I was even more pleased to see a big "RESERVE NOW" button as part of the promotion. I made my reservation for 6 p.m., provided all my contact information, and included a note in the "Special Request" section specifically requesting two seats at the bar. The reservation was submitted and confirmation received at 3 p.m. Unfortunately, I was far from pleased when I arrived and the hostess said, "I see you have a reservation and your note, but the bar is first come, first served." I expressed my disappointment but stated that I would be fine seated in the dining room. She then hits me with, "Happy hour is only available in the dining room if you are having dinner." I then expain that the information on the website made no mention of either of those restrictions and that at no point in the reservation process was there any information that would indicate that reservations are for non-happy hour guests. A manager then stepped in and shared that I must have read the happy hour information incorrectlg and that the online service clearly states that reservations are for the dining room only. He then proceeded to explain that he would make an exception and allow me and my guest to have happy hour while seated in the dining room (which, by the way, was nearly empty). I was pretty annoyed about being made to feel like I was in the wrong and at no point getting an apology, but at least I finally had a seat and could order food and drinks. BUT that brief feeling of satisfaction didn't last because when the bill came, they charged us full price for our cocktails. To make matters worse, I wasn't able to have the bill corrected because I didn't have the time to spare before the show. This was my first ever Fogo! I've celebrated birthdays here over the years. I really never had a bad experience until yesterday when I sat at the bar. The only bartender was not friendly or welcoming at all. The bar was empty at the time. She placed the menu on the bar and still doesn't introduce herself or even say hello. Just nothing! I told her I wanted a red wine from the happy hour and also redeem a bar bite reward. I asked if it was for any bar bite and she rudely said, "I don't know what reward you have." I gave her my number and she found it. I placed an order for the picanha burger, which I thought was just ok. I probably won't get it again but at least I got to try it. She never asked how my food was our if I needed anything else. Really if she was more pleasant, I would have stayed and ordered more. The happy hour here is such a great deal. Her demeanor turned me off so much that I got my check and left as quickly as possible. This place is great. They have amazing food! They have all day happy hour on Saturday and Sunday. I would say the only thing is I noticed they only have two bathrooms in the bar area and neither of them have a changing station. The service is good and I can tell everyone there is working hard. I've been to several different locations of Fogo de Chão and this by far was the best experience. Last minute weeknight reservations were easy to get. I took advantage of their valet parking out front that was very reasonable. We were seated on time and greeted right away by one of our servers. There were at least 3 people assisting us with drinks, clean plates and bread. Each one was very friendly and attentive. The service we received was truly excellent. The salad bar was fully stocked with fresh fruit, veggies and side dishes. Once seated back at our table the meat began to flow! Everything was hot and delicious. I've been to many Fogo locations and it is always a gluttonous delight - this location is on par with the others. I came here with a large party of 15. The salad bar has an impossible variety of dishes, and there are almost too many meat options to choose from. On top of that you are given warm cheesy breads (pao de quejiao), polenta fries, fried sweet plantains, and buttery mash. $75/pp for the full experience - it's worth it! Writing a review simply for the $10 Picanha Burger from the bar menu. This is an awesome deal and the burger is so good you would be surprised it's priced at $10. It is the perfect lunch in DC. Almost feels like I am doing a lunch hack as a $10 meal in DC is hard to come by. All burger components made fresh and I like that it comes with crispy polenta. Came here on Sunday for their Sunday brunch. What's hot - Quality. Very good. Surprisingly, my favorite meats were the bacon wrapped chicken, bacon wrapped filet, and their chicken drumsticks. The meats were incredibly tender and flavorful, but not too salty. All their meats were a good flavor, as well. I especially liked their salad bar of smoked salmon, asparagus, mushrooms, beet salad, and their fruits. They had fresh papaya, pineapple, and orange slices. The fresh fruits were great to round out the meal after so much meat. Hubby and I also recommend their fruit parfait with granola, Greek yogurt and fresh fruits. Their Greek yogurt is not too sweet, so the parfait is a nice palate cleanser after eating so much ,eat. - Service. Excellent. We never had to wait for anything. There was always staff checking up on us, which we appreciated. Their meats came out in a whirlwind, which caught us off guard, because we were taking our time to eat. Their staff appear to be well-trained in ensuring timely service and following up with customers. Whenever a table was done, we saw their staff quickly clean the table to be prepared for service for the next set of customers. - Layout. It's pretty good. There's enough space between tables to move around. We appreciated being seated at a table for 4, because it gave us more space. Their bathroom is upstairs, which is also pretty spacious. Their upstairs has additional seating, which looks helpful for group events. - Location. Pretty central in DC, which is nice, especially to many tourist locations. Also close to the Archives metro station. What's not - Price. Hubby and I took advantage of their Veterans Day special of 50% off for the veteran or active duty member and 10% off for their family member. We encountered no difficulty with obtaining our discount. However, their regular price is $57 per person for brunch. For dinner it's $76. To be fair, it's good value for money. However, because Fogo de Chao is expensive, hubby and I only come here for special occasions. I came to Fogo de Chão three days ago while attending a conference, and everything was absolutely perfect. Shout out to Jose and Douglas, who took great care of us throughout our meal. The salad bar is possibly one of the best I've had at any Rodizio-style restaurant. The options were incredible roasted eggplant, zucchini, garlic, squash, beet salads, fresh tomatoes, imported cheeses, and Serrano meats. I loved it so much that I almost didn't have room for the meat! I did manage to try a few cuts chorizo, lamb, ribeye, and sirloin all perfectly cooked and seasoned. My friend and I recently went to Fogo de Chão to celebrate a special occasion and had a great experience. The ambiance and service were both top-notch. My friend and I both got the churrasco experience, which came with access to the buffet and meat delivered to the table (you can substitute fish for the meat). Our meal started off with Pão de Queijo being delivered to our table, which was delicious. We then went to the buffet bar, which had several delicious salads and soups. I enjoyed the meats that came to the table, which you can get cooked rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, and well-done. I especially liked the ribs, flank, sirloin and the filet mignon-all were cooked perfectly medium rare and were seasoned with the right amount of salt and pepper. My friend's Chilean Sea Bass was also well-cooked, although the sides were just OK. My friend and I shared the chocolate lava cake and the chocolate brigadeiro for dessert. The lava cake center and ice cream were both good, but the cake was dry. The brigadeiro had a good crust, but needed a sauce and more flavor. Yummy all-you-can-eat Brazilian steakhouse! The meats are all cooked to various preparation levels, so they cut a slice for you at whatever level you request (rare, medium, well, or anything in-between). That is a great system because even on just my table, people in the same party had different preferences. Some of the favorites in my party included the lamb, garlic pork chops, and bacon wrapped chicken. As for dessert on their all you can eat menu, there is pineapple doused in honey + cinnamon or grilled cheese with honey. We each tried both, and they were great! The staff was all very friendly. I would recommend trying their delicious guarana berry soda drink, which comes from Brazil (and has no high fructose corn syrup!). The only downside of the place is the high cost. It was $100 per person for the all-you-can-eat (AYCE) experience, which is very steep compared to AYCE KBBQ. read more

We're fans of Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouses. We have one in San Diego that we often go to when at the Gaslamp Quarter. We dined at Fogo de Chão the Washington, D.C. location. The food was delicious with friendly and attentive staff. The only disappointments were: 1. Dinner starts at 2pm and not at 4pm (not used to this). So you end up paying dinner prices at $73.00. 2. Soft drinks are not included and soda comes out of a can (very tacky for a high end restaurant). My husband did not enjoy his ice tea. 3. The downstairs bathroom doesn't have a baby changing diaper station or table. I had to change my baby's diaper on the floor. 4. Our dinner price with drinks was $177.00 plus $20 tip. That's a lot of money to pay when not used to paying dinner at 2pm. Don't think I would dine at Fogo after 2pm. Some of the meats were not worth paying $73.00 we only tried 5 different meats. Everyone signed up for the churrasco experience ($74/person) - the full AYCE. As usual, I did not get anything from the salad and appetizer bar, abstaining from anything that did not use to have a soul. The service proved spectacular. I was bombarded with different cuts of meat in the first 5 minutes; my plate seemed only to pile on more cuts. I had to throttle the throughput by flipping my circle to red just to get breathing (and eating) space. meat, Meat, and more MEAT One major tip: Definitely come here when you are hungry especially if you plan on taking advantage of the full Churrasco Experience. The Churrasco Experience is about $74 per person, and it includes a continuous feeding of at least 5 cuts of meat. Some cuts included NY steak, lamb chops, picanha, beef loin, roasted chicken/beef with beef, and a couple of others. Additionally, a "small" buffet with a nice spread of Brazilian sides comes with the experience. However, I would recommend that you not make too many trips to the buffet because you will get A LOT of meat with from the churrasco service. During the experience, the service team will make several rounds bringing various meats to your table. I thought everything that was brought to our table was absolutely delicious (especially the medium rare cuts). I did not refuse anything based on taste or flavor. The NY steak and lamb chops were my absolute favorite. This might have been a just me thing, but I thought the NY steak was a bit too salty for my tastes, but the other person with whom I was dining did not find it too salty. Overall, the service was absolutely wonderful (George, Katrina, and the others were great). Maybe the service was "too good". From my previous non-Fago de Chao churrasco experiences, the courses of meat were spread out a bit. During our dinner, I felt like as soon as one piece of meat was placed on the plate ,another person arrived with another, then another with another, and you get the hint. At one point, I pretty much had a mountain of meat on my plate. I probably missed the assignment because I noticed that later on during our meal the service team would return with the same meats. From my pervious churrasco experiences at other Brazilian places, you pretty much have one chance to try each course. However, I guess that's not the case at Fogo de Chao. I'll also say that we never had to wait too long for anything because the waiters constantly dropped by out table to make sure we did not need anything. Actually, it was a little funny because we would order a round of cocktails, then within five minutes, someone else would come to our table to take our cocktail order. I guess it's better to have too much service than having to wait 15+ minutes to flag down a waiter for something. The two-level restaurant is huge, which makes it perfect for a large gathering. We saw several 10+ parties during our visit. While the ambiance of the restaurant is very modern, it's also quite inviting. There were many folks that were dressed to the nines (well business casual), but there were several folks (like myself) that were dressed in casual attire. Shoot, if I'm going to stuff my face with all you can eat meat for about 60-90 minutes, I need to wear extra comfortable clothes. ;) Overall, we had a wonderful Christmas dinner at Fogo de Chao, and I hope to make another visit in the near future because everything was A-OK. read more
