    Pupusa de Loroco

This place originates in the suburbs, but finding an offshoot here was welcome. My pupusas were freshly prepared and options were abundant. They have several vegan ones based on vegan cheese; I'm a tad skeptical of vegan cheeses but credit to them for offering it. My more conventional dairy with beans and loroco pupusas delivered on flavor, came with abundant fixins, and because you can pick how many you order, it makes for a customizable meal size. I struggled to find seating in this market; it's one where a lot of people camp out with laptops.

My go to for pupusas La Cosecha, I can't walk past La Cosecha without getting a pupusa from here! They're delicious. Always come out hot and fresh. Great service.

I would have to say that these are the best pupusas in DC (although I haven't tried many other takes yet). I personally like their corn tamales in addition to the pupusas. Although their prices have increased since when I first moved here, I still think that the food can be defined as good value. The staff here is always friendly and their time estimates are always accurate when it comes to picking up the food. I never had an unpleasant experience with the staff. Lastly, since it's inside of La cosecha market, the vibes align (for a lack of better phrase) as you're also supporting other local businesses indoors. I like how this place uniquely offers a food item I've fallen in love with since I moved to DC. I definitely make repeat visits to this place, and you should too

The wait to get the food was about 20 mins, the customer service was poor, but while the food was pricey, it was good and tasted super fresh. The shop is located at La Cosecha with other food and cool shops (plants, wine, clothing, etc).

Pupusa Revuelta Very thin, which was thinner than I've had before from other pupusa vendors. The pork was extremely bland, like it tasted as if it wasn't seasoned at all. Just not my jam as I've had better. Maybe it was an off night?

Extremely tasty food hall in NoMa with some absolutely delicious appetizers and entrees! Service was very quick and kind. There were so many good options to choose from; every pupusa was stellar!

Their pupusas are melt-in-your-mouth good. The vegan one was so flavorful and the vegan cheese melted just right. The price was very reasonable, I just wish it was bigger because I didn't want to stop eating it!

La Casita Pupuseria is a food stand inside La Cosecha and easy to miss because it's tucked near the back along with a few other stalls. The line was long this past Friday evening, which worked out because I had a hard time choosing the pupusas I wanted to try. I ended up... never getting the pupusas. The nice server who took my order recommended the Carne Asada Callejera so I decided to go with that instead, HAHA. CARNE ASADA CALLEJERA (GRILLED STEAK) - 15.95 This came in a neatly packed in a compartmental takeout container where there were thin slices of grilled steak on a bed of seasoned white rice. For my sides, I got frijoles refrito (refried beans) and Casita salad (lettuce, tomatoes and carrots). The grilled steak was very flavorful and well salted. It was a bit tough and chewy, which was my only quip. It went so well with the seasoned rice (which is enjoyable on its own). I really liked the frijoles refrito -- definitely my favorite part of the meal! The Casita salad was nothing out of the ordinary, but served as a refreshing and cleansing side in the midst of the steak, rice, and beans. Overall, great option and pretty filling. I'd recommend. I'll get the pupusas next time... haha.

Great place to grab delicious food to go with a drink from one of the nearby bars. The yuca and chicharrón was exactly what I was craving. And the portion you get for $10?! Hard to find in DC. The pupusas were also delicious and a great value. The staff were also very kind during our limited interaction. Having an apartment in NOMA means I'll be frequenting this spot for sure.

Visited 7/30/24. Located in La Cosita marketplace, this stall had some great options and I ended up going with the steak tacos (comes with two tacos, rice, and beans). Waited for about 10-12 minutes and then the buzzer went off. The steak in the tacos was my favorite part as it was flavorful and cooked well. A bit of fat but can't complain too much. The shells themselves are more "pupusa-styled", meaning they are thicker and more dense so if you like a thinner taco this may not be for you. Due to the thickness I did find myself kind of wanting for more liquid in the taco to kind of soak it up a bit and make it less dry. Maybe like an avocado crema vs. the avocado in the taco or a different salsa in place of the pico? The shining star of this dish was the side of beans. I'm not even a huge bean person but I found myself constantly coming back for more-would definitely recommend these. I would love to try again and get pupusas in the future! Overall solid flavor and a good pick while at La Cosita.

    El Tipico*

When dining here's a free tip - parking is free in the garage downstairs. You can eat the El Tipico if you're like me and fancies breakfast for dinner. You're welcome.

From the food to the ambiance, it was perfect! Service was great, friendly staff. Food is amazing and that's coming from another El Salvadorian, I keep coming back

Pupusa (3 for $12.50) - packaged on top of each other so spinach and cheese is visible. Very delicious!

I walked a little back and forth, but.. no. Across the street, I saw another Mexican restaurant on the corner, but it looked closed, or even shut down. Maps told me it should be there. Looking across the street my eyes were drawn to the second floor, and a series of neon lights for a tarot card reader and psychic. Taking this as a sign, I crossed. That's when I found Benito's and realized that it's neon sign was out. Walk too fast and you might miss it. A narrow door aside a bay window lit from inside. It's a small place with a warm, cozy feeling. Benito's is very much a neighborhood Central American restaurant, but FYI: no alcohol. Started with guac and chips, usual fare, delicious but nothing that singled it out. I ordered the Pollo a la Plancha and it was rather good. The chicken was grilled through but not tough, it still had moisture and you could cut it. Rice, greens, etc. and the small 2oz solo of black beans, all standard fare. The corn tortillas were interesting, not your usual thin tortillas, so it took my mind a moment to consider what I was holding. It had the thickness of a pancake, maybe a sope base, and reminded me of thick, handmade tortillas when you don't have the press. Curiously, the tortillas were not the same that my friend got with his Mole Poblano, which were thin. Granted, it was a cold Tuesday evening, but in two hours only two other individuals came in to eat. Seems like they do brisk take away business. I expect on a warmer night with higher foot traffic this place fills up quickly. The service was great, did not want for anything. We were served with two containers of sauce, green and orange. Ostensibly green chili, and habanero, I did not learn specifically however. When I dine in DC I can't help but confront the blunt question: Was it worth it? Yeah, it's good food, good people, and a good place. You'll feel comfortable there and leave full. But the price of dining out is too damn high, and this meal is on the higher side of what, ten years ago, would have been $15. I fear that prices will continue to be pushed higher and places like Benito's might disappear, so get over there because the food excellent, the people are nice, and it's just a warm space to hang out for an hour or so talking to an old friend.

Incredibly shady business practice, but it was too late to book anywhere else. Once we arrived, the issues continued. Water was served in disposable plastic cups at room temperature and was only once refilled. Not everyone at our table even got water. They ran out of silverware too and only offered disposables. Margaritas took about 45 minutes to come, way after our meal had been served. We had to ask about drinks multiple times. Food wasn't labeled and we had vegetarians at our table so it should have been explained what everything was. The guacamole at $17 was pretty awful so we didn't finish it. Everything else was mediocre. Our server literally disappeared the entire night and we had to ask for the check three separate times. Even with a limited menu, they couldn't handle it. I don't blame the servers, but management clearly needs some work and needs to communicate with the social media team. All ten of us will not return, just what an embarrassment.

On top of that, I ordered a steak taco, which unfortunately didn't make it into a picture either because I ate it too fast. What stood out to me was the "shell."
