Peruvian Brothers has easily become my favorite spot in La Cosecha! As someone who lives in the Union Market District and frequents the market often, this is always my first choice when deciding where to eat. The Lomo Saltado with Filet Mignon is consistently delicious and packed with flavor, and the Shrimp Saltado is another go-to depending on my mood. I usually add a side of sweet plantains and sometimes the sautéed veggies if I'm extra hungry. Everything is always fresh, flavorful, and comforting without feeling too heavy. The service is friendly and pretty quick during the weekdays, though it can take a little longer during busier times. I typically take my food home, but La Cosecha has plenty of seating and a fun atmosphere if you want to stay and eat. There are also bars nearby, so it's easy to grab a cocktail or drink to pair with your meal I've also visited the Amazon HQ2 location and appreciate that the menu and pricing are consistent between both locations. Nice to know I can get the same quality whether I'm in DC or Arlington. Definitely one of my favorite casual spots in the area! read more

La Cosecha hosts plenty of solid businesses inside the market. I will say you can't go wrong with any of them, despite my 3 star rating for Peruvian Brothers. If it wasn't for the flan, I would've rated this place either 4 or 5 stars. I did enjoy my chicken sandwich and thought the ingredients were pretty refreshing to have. That being said, I thought the flan was off-putting (perhaps it was a one-time thing or maybe I have poor taste in flan). Now that I have tried the majority of shops indoors, I will probably get Peruvian Brothers on occasion. I'm intrigued by their entire menu and will have to give this place another try. read more

Referring to the North Capitol St location. Clean restaurant. Professional workers. Hip/trendy marketing. The food is bland at best. Pork sandwich tastes okay, but absolutely no spices to be found. I had to bathe the whole meal in their spicy red sauce and cilantro sauce. :-/ I also ordered a savory chicken empanada (also bland), which was sprinkled with powdered sugar. I stopped by Peruvian Brothers and unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to my expectations. I ordered the half chicken dark with Peruvian rice, and to be honest, both were very bland. The chicken was my biggest disappointment. I was expecting bold seasoning and flavor, but it just didn't deliver. It tasted plain and didn't really stand out in any way. The sauces helped a little and added some flavor, but even with that, it still didn't feel like enough to justify the price. The Peruvian rice was also pretty plain and didn't add much to the meal. For something that cost just under $20, I expected a lot more flavor and overall satisfaction. Based on this experience, I highly recommend not getting the chicken and rice here, especially if you're expecting strong, well-seasoned Peruvian flavors. I visited La Cochesa in the union market area for the first time last week, giving a visit to Peruvian Brothers. The fish bowl that I ordered provided a solid mix of protein, grains and vegetables, with a couple of sauces. The food filled me up and was a solid meal for about $20. The fish was slightly dry, so the sauce helped, but overall it was a well balanced meal. La Cochesa had a great ambiance with several food shops and seating to work or socialize. read more

I recently got Peruvian Brother's take on chicken and waffles for takeout and I enjoyed it. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and I loved the five sauces that came with the dish: an interesting-flavored syrup, butter, two spicy hot sauces, and a salsa verde of sorts. However, I felt the "waffles," which were kind of donut-like, were underwhelming and needed more flavor. I received my order on-time and it came hot with plastic utensils. I stopped by for a chicken empanada, and was really disappointed. It's mostly breading, which was really dry and felt stale. The chicken was also super dry, and the flavor was relatively bland. Peruvian brothers is a local chain in the DMV area stopped in at the La Cosecha location. This is inside a food hall in the union market area. We got an order of their chicken sandwich and a chorizo empanada. They have great hot sauces in fact I got an order of both of their bottles. They put their sweet and tangy hot sauce on their sandwich. Service was fast and the chicken sandwich and empanada were delicious. The chicken wasn't to dry and there was great flavor with their hot sauce. I would definitely come back to this spot. read more

While it's one of the only few Peruvian options in this area, I'm stoked that it exists and it gets the job done excellently. The service is fast and the food is delicious, the only thing you can really complain about is the price, which isn't that bad anyways. **Review of Drinks Only** I have to specify that this review is based on the drinks alone, I'll come back here and get several different dishes to do a comprehensive review. I had the Fresh Chicha Morada and Inca Cola. The lady behind the register tried to explain what the drink was and I still don't know, but it's very sweet! I like sweets as in dessert, but not a syrupy type of sweetness in drinks. The Inca Cola is even worse because that tastes like a chemical stew and I had a couple of sips, then tossed it. The food did look and smell amazing from afar looking at other customers selections. This location is in the union market area and I had previously picked other food choices. I don't often at at La Cosecha but I was meeting a friend there for Supper. I landed on Peruvian Brothers since the shrimp saltado sounded interesting. I started by eating the veggies and they were quite yummy. They still had a crunch but sauce on them. Then I made mr way to the saltado and the veggies were so good!!!!!!!!! The rice to veggie combo was great. I continued eating them ',but then I got to the french fries at the bottom....whew those was sooooo good! After a few bites, I was quite full. The quality of the food has to be good. Why I say that? Because the prices are pretty high, even comparing with the other food stands at La Cosecha, which in itself is a high-end Latin American market/food hall. But I have my doubts. The Peruvian rotisserie chicken is already made and there's several on the spit, and it has been there for a long while. Still good? Perhaps. But if you're charging a quarter of a chicken for 6 dollars that doesn't come with a single side, I'd expect something much more amazing or fresh. I was surprised there was not a chicken plate with sides - everything is ordered individually and separately. However, despite it being overpriced, the pisco sour slushees are really good - despite it costing nearly $10 for one. I can't even imagine a frozen margarita costing as much, especially in the middle of the day. They'd do good to lower prices, revamp the menu to make sure there's an actual meal listed, and offer happy hour pricing. For this reason, this place is only getting two stars from me, but with a note that they can be (and can easily deserve) so much more. read more

One thing I love about Union Market and La Cosecha is the different foods from all cultures. I happen to stop by this spot and it was not impressive at all, the pollo saltado was super salty then the rice was instant rice which gave the whole plate the worst Taste ever!! If you had a POLLO SALTADO you would know what I'm Referring too. I suggest the chef have a taste of the food and maybe revisit the amount of Salt in it. The RICE TASTW HORRIBLE!!! This is a great spot for food and drinks located within the la cosecho food court. I received my beef and spinach and cheese empanadas quickly. At $6 each, they were quite large and stuffed full. They also came out hot. I was immediately served my food at the register after ordering (unlike the surrounding restaurants with a slower turn around time). I would definitely say the beef empanada was better than the spinach and cheese- I don't think I would order the latter in the future. However, I think that had more to do with the filling itself versus the way it was prepared. The guy working the register was really nice. I also tried a grapefruit IPA (see pictures below), which was great. It also had a cool bottle. I'm not a huge grapefruit person, but thought it was a nice change of pace. If you decide to go this route, be warned- it is an 8% beer. read more

Our thanksgiving meal was catered by the Peruvian Brothers and everyone was impressed. Ingrid help with facilitating the catering order and made sure all the side orders were packed properly for our special dinner. Portions are decent, the Roasted Chicken is actually really good and the empanadas too, specially the spinach one. I feel like this restaurant is very Americanize to appeal to the surrounding populations. Not your usual Peruvian restaurant but is pretty good. My bf and I split a sandwich since we also got other things. | Chicharrón Sandwich - 10.00 | Salted pork tenderloin over a bed of grilled sweet potatoes topped with Peruvian Brothers' signature salsa criolla in a freshly baked roll. We also asked for hot sauce, which they gave us on the side. Coming from SoCal and having a lot of Peruvian food prior, we thought the sandwich was good, but we've had better back home. The sweet potatoes and onions were great, but the pork was quite dry. I definitely recommend asking for a side of the rocoto (hot sauce) bc you will need it to combat the dryness of the pork. Peruvian Brothers is a stand at the back of La Cosecha latin american market. I tried the chicken empanada. All their empanadas are baked and wheat flour based. I loved empanada that I tried- the outside was flaky, the filling was flavorful. The menu also had sandwiches that looked very good! Ok the chicken (and their green salad) is very good, but twice now I've had sandwiches (chicharron & the choripan) and they were pretty hum drum basic. Maybe this is authentic or just safe and timid, but besides being dry (thankfully I had hot sauce at the office) and bland.... hmm (long pause) it was ok I guess. Sorry no "mmms" eliciting here. I had the pleasure of trying Peruvian Brothers during GovLoop's Food Trucks of Thanks event. We were offered a meat platter, 2 sides and a drink. That is a lot to offer for free to government workers. I appreciated that they offered to participate in this free event to honor public service. Not many businesses would risk the financial loss to participate. They opened at 11am but I was in line by 10:40am. There was already a line outside of their truck and there was not one outside of the other food truck yet. I considered this to be a good sign. I checked yelp and was right, other people enjoy their food.   I got the Pollo, mixed greens with balsamic dressing, and fried plantains. My Pollo had sliced onions on it and I used their homemade medium sauce to top it. That was the extra yumminess that it needed. I saw some of the pics so I knew that the chicken was sliced, but I would have been surprised otherwise. I am generally used to getting a ¼ or 1/2 piece of chicken. I imagine slices are easier to manage than chopping up whole chickens inside of a food truck. It seems like it makes sense space-wise.  Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed everything I ate and would order again. I took off 1 star only because my co-worker said it upset her stomach. I have a sensitive stomach and did not have any issues at all. I also think it would be great if there were an easier way to locate the truck? I recommend you give Peruvian Brothers a try. read more
