Excellent beef empanadas. Fast service. La Cosecha is a lovely environment. Would love to try again soon!

    Half chicken dark with rice

I stopped by Peruvian Brothers and unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to my expectations. I ordered the half chicken dark with Peruvian rice, and to be honest, both were very bland. The chicken was my biggest disappointment. I was expecting bold seasoning and flavor, but it just didn't deliver. It tasted plain and didn't really stand out in any way. The sauces helped a little and added some flavor, but even with that, it still didn't feel like enough to justify the price. The Peruvian rice was also pretty plain and didn't add much to the meal. For something that cost just under $20, I expected a lot more flavor and overall satisfaction. Based on this experience, I highly recommend not getting the chicken and rice here, especially if you're expecting strong, well-seasoned Peruvian flavors. Maybe other items on the menu taste better, but this particular combo was underwhelming to say the least.

I visited La Cochesa in the union market area for the first time last week, giving a visit to Peruvian Brothers. The fish bowl that I ordered provided a solid mix of protein, grains and vegetables, with a couple of sauces. The food filled me up and was a solid meal for about $20. The fish was slightly dry, so the sauce helped, but overall it was a well balanced meal. La Cochesa had a great ambiance with several food shops and seating to work or socialize.

Yuca fries are SOOOOOO good!!! They need to include more dip though. But will definitely be back!

    Spinach & Cheese Empanada

I love how the spinach & cheese empanada isn't shy with the filling. The price is a bit on the expensive side for the size, definitely meant to be a treat once in a while.

I recently got Peruvian Brother's take on chicken and waffles for takeout and I enjoyed it. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and I loved the five sauces that came with the dish: an interesting-flavored syrup, butter, two spicy hot sauces, and a salsa verde of sorts. However, I felt the "waffles," which were kind of donut-like, were underwhelming and needed more flavor. I received my order on-time and it came hot with plastic utensils. I recommend Peruvian Brothers if you are in the area!

    Pan con Chicharron Sandwich

Tried the chicharron sandwhich. Pros: service was super fast and efficient so was great for on the go The sandwich itself wasn't amazing. It was kind of on the drier side and I was a little disappointed. I would definitely eat here again but would just try something else

I stopped by for a chicken empanada, and was really disappointed. It's mostly breading, which was really dry and felt stale. The chicken was also super dry, and the flavor was relatively bland. The sauce it came with was a rather strange hot sauce, which tasted more like a BBQ sauce with a slight spice to it. Overall, really disappointing. Probably wouldn't recommend!

I had a dark chicken leg which came with three sauces. The chicken was very tender and the sauces went well with the chicken.

Peruvian brothers is a local chain in the DMV area stopped in at the La Cosecha location. This is inside a food hall in the union market area. We got an order of their chicken sandwich and a chorizo empanada. They have great hot sauces in fact I got an order of both of their bottles. They put their sweet and tangy hot sauce on their sandwich. Service was fast and the chicken sandwich and empanada were delicious. The chicken wasn't to dry and there was great flavor with their hot sauce. I would definitely come back to this spot.

Fresh Chicha Morada and Inca Cola

**Review of Drinks Only** I have to specify that this review is based on the drinks alone, I'll come back here and get several different dishes to do a comprehensive review. I had the Fresh Chicha Morada and Inca Cola. The lady behind the register tried to explain what the drink was and I still don't know, but it's very sweet! I like sweets as in dessert, but not a syrupy type of sweetness in drinks. The Inca Cola is even worse because that tastes like a chemical stew and I had a couple of sips, then tossed it. The food did look and smell amazing from afar looking at other customers selections. This location is in the union market area and I had previously picked other food choices. As I said, I'll come here for food next time and I'm sure I'll modify this restaurant to something better than a 2 star...or so I hope :-) -ODL Follow my IG: @AOEAT

I don't often at at La Cosecha but I was meeting a friend there for Supper. I landed on Peruvian Brothers since the shrimp saltado sounded interesting. I started by eating the veggies and they were quite yummy. They still had a crunch but sauce on them. Then I made mr way to the saltado and the veggies were so good!!!!!!!!! The rice to veggie combo was great. I continued eating them ',but then I got to the french fries at the bottom....whew those was sooooo good! After a few bites, I was quite full. Wish I could have taken the rest good but I just ate it all. I'll be back soon for more

Far from a standard dining experience, the multi-course tasting menu here is a masterclass in storytelling through food, structured around Peru's distinct topographical regions. Every course is presented with insight and depth of the food you are able to consume. The flavors are bold. The courses are well thought through. The service is impeccable. From start to finish, we were greeted with warmth. Everything you eat wakes up the palate without overwhelming you. If you aren't into seafood, this journey through Peru may not be for you. We settled on the four course tasting menu and ordered an extra ceviche. To be honest, this felt more like a seven course meal. The textures, color and artistry are unparalleled. Causa isn't just a meal--it's an evocative, deeply memorable exploration of Peruvian gastronomy. It is absolutely a must-visit for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or experience culinary storytelling at its absolute finest. I'm still thinking about the Heart of Palm, scallop ceviche, sweet potato sea urchin dish.

This was one of my favorite dining experiences ever…read more I never realized that Peruvian food is such a diverse fusion cuisine with strong influences from Spanish, African, Chinese, and Japanese culinary traditions. At Causa Amazonia, Peruvian cuisine's richness shines brightly. Love the Michelin award winning chef's unique blend of native ingredients and multicultural influences to make the most delicious meal. Started with the Chicha Morada. This fragrant purple beverage originated in the Andean regions of Peru. It gets the vibrant color from dried purple corn, along with fruit and spices. Served over ice, this delicious drink is very popular throughout Peru. Add a snack, a salad and a cebiche . The Patacones were amazing. Fried plantains served with mushrooms, heart of palm, bechamel, and cecina floss. The Ensalada de Chonta was filled with my favorites. Hearts of palm, avocado, tomato, and passionfruit. Perfect to share. The Cebiche Clásico is made with fresh fish, lime, sweet potato, cancha, and choclo. Cancha is sort of popcorn, but it's made from a special variety of corn called maiz chulpe. Cancha corn gets slightly puffy and toasted, like corn nuts. It is quite addictive. Choclo is another type of Peruvian corn. The giant kernel corn from Cusco is amazing! Add a fresh fish and have it prepared two ways. Ask for the fish menu. It is actually an electronic site filled with so many fresh fish options, many flown in from Japan. Kristen helped guide us on what to select for our party of four. We had the Schlegel Red Bas (Aka Isaki) from Japana. About a 1/4 was made as a Tiradito. This Peruvian-style sashimi-style preparation is where fish is sliced thinly and served with a sauce. The rest was prepared Al Natural Josper A lo Macho. The fish was grilled fish over an open flame (Josper grill) with a bold, smoky flavor. Loved the presentation on a beautiful cart. It was deboned tableside with such care. The fish came with rice and a curry (that I wanted to take home to Texas in a bottle.) It was so good. Definitely get both a hot (grilled) and cold (sashimi or tiradito) version of the same fish for a full flavor experience. Add a classic Peruvian comfort food. The Lomo Saltado is a tasty bowl of sliced wagyu, red onions, tomato, Yukon potato, and soy served over jasmine rice. Lomo Saltado, which translates to "jumped loin," is a quintessential Peruvian dish and a national comfort food in Peru. It reflects the fusion of Chinese immigrant cooking techniques, like stir-frying in a wok, with traditional Peruvian ingredients such as ají amarillo and potatoes. End with a sweet treat. Choco-Lucuma is a dessert that combined a rich chocolate cake with lucuma, a sweet, custard-like Peruvian fruit. Lucuma is a subtropical fruit native to the Andean valleys of Peru, Chile, and Ecuador. It has a yellow-orange color and a creamy, custard-like texture. A very unique way to end our meal. Definitely make a reservation. Go with friends and order several dishes to share. This was my favorite restaurant that we visited in DC. My daughter's friend who is from Peru gave it high marks, too. Gracias por una comida increíble!

The chicken pieces themselves were fine but the stew was so delicious. The real star of the show was the dessert: ponderaciones de kiwicha! The banana ice cream it comes with was phenomenal, it pairs so well with the cocoa powder! I would come back just for dessert! The ambiance is really nice! Let's start with the obvious. If labor matters so much, build it into the price. Every other business manages to pay employees without turning the receipt into a public relations campaign. Instead, Chicken + Whiskey wants customers to admire them for charging extra after the fact. As for the food, the chicken looked less "wood fired" and more "insurance claim." One piece was so aggressively charred it appeared to have entered the atmosphere and returned. The sides were forgettable, the presentation was indistinguishable from a middle school cafeteria tray, and absolutely nothing on the table justified the premium pricing. The entire experience feels engineered by a marketing team. Keep the menu prices looking lower than reality. Add surprise fees later. Call them something noble. Hope nobody notices. We noticed. The funniest part is that the restaurant seems convinced the labor fee demonstrates transparency. Real transparency would be putting the actual price on the menu. What they're doing is the restaurant equivalent of an airline advertising a cheap ticket and then charging separately for the wings. For a place so concerned with fairness, they seem remarkably comfortable being unfair about pricing. I left feeling like I'd paid admission to watch a TED Talk about compensation practices while eating chicken that looked like it had been recovered from a structure fire. The food wasn't good enough to justify the price. The price wasn't honest enough to justify the policy. The policy wasn't clever enough to justify the attitude. One star. Raise your prices. Pay your staff. Stop expecting applause for it.

I have seen this place when I have had the pleasure to drive into work. However, it's not an establishment that I would walk to for lunch. DC blocks can be super long to walk and it can take a while to cross the busy streets. With our event coming up I figured why not. We went with the 40 Person Package from their catering menu. I think they under-describe this. It states it is for 40 people, but the amount of food you receive can easily feed more than that. Especially when it comes with four full pan sized side dishes. Definitely enough food to feed a crew and have leftovers. For our sides we went with White Rice, Plantains, Mashed Potatoes, and House Salad. All the food was received well by our crew and they were pleased to be able to partake in what was left after the meal was done. The White Rice comes with peas and carrots right in it. The Plantains are fried perfectly. Mashed Potatoes were velvety (sadly they appear to have taken them off the menu since we ordered). And the House Salad was a light side to rest of the rich food. What was over the top here was the delivery of the food. This was two weeks post snowstorm and the streets of DC were still mini mountains to climb. Our delivery person was amazing with the delivery. He, however, had the mishap of the mashed potatoes deciding to ditch before being delivered.
