    Flan
    Peter D.

La Cosecha hosts plenty of solid businesses inside the market. I will say you can't go wrong with any of them, despite my 3 star rating for Peruvian Brothers. If it wasn't for the flan, I would've rated this place either 4 or 5 stars. I did enjoy my chicken sandwich and thought the ingredients were pretty refreshing to have. That being said, I thought the flan was off-putting (perhaps it was a one-time thing or maybe I have poor taste in flan). Now that I have tried the majority of shops indoors, I will probably get Peruvian Brothers on occasion. I'm intrigued by their entire menu and will have to give this place another try.

Excellent beef empanadas. Fast service. La Cosecha is a lovely environment. Would love to try again soon!

    Half chicken dark with rice

I stopped by Peruvian Brothers and unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to my expectations. I ordered the half chicken dark with Peruvian rice, and to be honest, both were very bland. The chicken was my biggest disappointment. I was expecting bold seasoning and flavor, but it just didn't deliver. It tasted plain and didn't really stand out in any way. The sauces helped a little and added some flavor, but even with that, it still didn't feel like enough to justify the price. The Peruvian rice was also pretty plain and didn't add much to the meal. For something that cost just under $20, I expected a lot more flavor and overall satisfaction. Based on this experience, I highly recommend not getting the chicken and rice here, especially if you're expecting strong, well-seasoned Peruvian flavors. Maybe other items on the menu taste better, but this particular combo was underwhelming to say the least.

I visited La Cochesa in the union market area for the first time last week, giving a visit to Peruvian Brothers. The fish bowl that I ordered provided a solid mix of protein, grains and vegetables, with a couple of sauces. The food filled me up and was a solid meal for about $20. The fish was slightly dry, so the sauce helped, but overall it was a well balanced meal. La Cochesa had a great ambiance with several food shops and seating to work or socialize.

Yuca fries are SOOOOOO good!!! They need to include more dip though. But will definitely be back!

    Spinach & Cheese Empanada

I love how the spinach & cheese empanada isn't shy with the filling. The price is a bit on the expensive side for the size, definitely meant to be a treat once in a while.

I recently got Peruvian Brother's take on chicken and waffles for takeout and I enjoyed it. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and I loved the five sauces that came with the dish: an interesting-flavored syrup, butter, two spicy hot sauces, and a salsa verde of sorts. However, I felt the "waffles," which were kind of donut-like, were underwhelming and needed more flavor. I received my order on-time and it came hot with plastic utensils. I recommend Peruvian Brothers if you are in the area!

    Pan con Chicharron Sandwich

Tried the chicharron sandwhich. Pros: service was super fast and efficient so was great for on the go The sandwich itself wasn't amazing. It was kind of on the drier side and I was a little disappointed. I would definitely eat here again but would just try something else

I stopped by for a chicken empanada, and was really disappointed. It's mostly breading, which was really dry and felt stale. The chicken was also super dry, and the flavor was relatively bland. The sauce it came with was a rather strange hot sauce, which tasted more like a BBQ sauce with a slight spice to it. Overall, really disappointing. Probably wouldn't recommend!

I had a dark chicken leg which came with three sauces. The chicken was very tender and the sauces went well with the chicken.

Peruvian brothers is a local chain in the DMV area stopped in at the La Cosecha location. This is inside a food hall in the union market area. We got an order of their chicken sandwich and a chorizo empanada. They have great hot sauces in fact I got an order of both of their bottles. They put their sweet and tangy hot sauce on their sandwich. Service was fast and the chicken sandwich and empanada were delicious. The chicken wasn't to dry and there was great flavor with their hot sauce. I would definitely come back to this spot.

Fresh Chicha Morada and Inca Cola
    Otniel L.

**Review of Drinks Only** I have to specify that this review is based on the drinks alone, I'll come back here and get several different dishes to do a comprehensive review. I had the Fresh Chicha Morada and Inca Cola. The lady behind the register tried to explain what the drink was and I still don't know, but it's very sweet! I like sweets as in dessert, but not a syrupy type of sweetness in drinks. The Inca Cola is even worse because that tastes like a chemical stew and I had a couple of sips, then tossed it. The food did look and smell amazing from afar looking at other customers selections. This location is in the union market area and I had previously picked other food choices. As I said, I'll come here for food next time and I'm sure I'll modify this restaurant to something better than a 2 star...or so I hope :-) -ODL Follow my IG: @AOEAT

My bf got the protein chicken power bowl. He really enjoyed it. He said the chicken was a tad dry but overall it was clean and delicious! It came with a lot of food. Their empanadas and sauce was BANGINNNN. Cost effective food as well

The outdoor setting created the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening. The food was exceptional. We started with the Scallops a la Parmesana -- Peruvian scallops with aji amarillo anticucheria sauce and parmesan cheese. The combination of flavors was unique, balanced, and beautifully executed. The ceviche was incredible -- fresh, bright, and exactly what I was looking for. I loved the lemon-forward flavor, which gave it the perfect freshness and acidity. The Crab Fusili was another standout. It was a creative and delicious dish, with amazing flavor and a perfect balance that made every bite memorable. For the main course, the lomo saltado truly delivered. The steak was cooked perfectly -- tender, flavorful, and full of the bold Peruvian flavors that make this dish such a classic. A special thank you to our waiter, Tagist, who made the entire experience even better. She took the time to explain each dish in detail, helped guide us through the menu, and made us feel confident that we were choosing the right dishes. She was absolutely right -- every recommendation was fantastic. Between the incredible cuisine, beautiful outdoor setting, and outstanding service, Amazonia offers the type of dining experience that makes you want to return. The food was average at best and significantly overpriced for the quality. We paid $30 each for ají de gallina and arroz con pollo--both dishes lacked depth and were nowhere near worth that price point. The ceviche ($27) was bland and underwhelming, missing the brightness and flavor you expect from a staple like this. Even the chicha morada felt like a stretch at an extra $10. The issues weren't limited to Peruvian dishes. The kafta sandwich was dry and completely lacking flavor, and a simple salad my wife ordered came with poorly seasoned dressing. Overall, the kitchen seemed to miss the mark on both sides of the fusion concept. To make matters worse, two classic Peruvian dishes--anticuchos and jalea mixta--were unavailable. The explanation given was that they had run out after Saturday night service, which is hard to justify when we visited at 1:30 PM on a Sunday. The restaurant was nearly empty at that time, which in hindsight should have been a warning sign. All in, we spent $225 for a family of four including tip, which is more than double what the experience was worth. I would rate this place 2 out of 5 stars and would not return.

Things were going along great and then a manager in a suit asked if we needed anything and we asked for the next White on the list. The portions they poured were tasting size portions each time, and our plan was to try each of them. We pointed out what the menu said, he said let me check. He brought Luis over who agreed that's what the menu said. Ultimately, we had a good time, but that made us feel weird that we had to even point that out when it was very clear on the menu. I've included the photo of the menu in case upper management would like to make sure if it is not all you can drink to change the wording. Let's start with the obvious. If labor matters so much, build it into the price. Every other business manages to pay employees without turning the receipt into a public relations campaign. Instead, Chicken + Whiskey wants customers to admire them for charging extra after the fact. As for the food, the chicken looked less "wood fired" and more "insurance claim." One piece was so aggressively charred it appeared to have entered the atmosphere and returned. The sides were forgettable, the presentation was indistinguishable from a middle school cafeteria tray, and absolutely nothing on the table justified the premium pricing. The entire experience feels engineered by a marketing team. Keep the menu prices looking lower than reality. Add surprise fees later. Call them something noble. Hope nobody notices. We noticed. The funniest part is that the restaurant seems convinced the labor fee demonstrates transparency. Real transparency would be putting the actual price on the menu. What they're doing is the restaurant equivalent of an airline advertising a cheap ticket and then charging separately for the wings. For a place so concerned with fairness, they seem remarkably comfortable being unfair about pricing. I left feeling like I'd paid admission to watch a TED Talk about compensation practices while eating chicken that looked like it had been recovered from a structure fire. The food wasn't good enough to justify the price. The price wasn't honest enough to justify the policy. The policy wasn't clever enough to justify the attitude. One star. Raise your prices. Pay your staff. Stop expecting applause for it.

I have seen this place when I have had the pleasure to drive into work. However, it's not an establishment that I would walk to for lunch. DC blocks can be super long to walk and it can take a while to cross the busy streets. With our event coming up I figured why not. We went with the 40 Person Package from their catering menu. I think they under-describe this. It states it is for 40 people, but the amount of food you receive can easily feed more than that. Especially when it comes with four full pan sized side dishes. Definitely enough food to feed a crew and have leftovers. For our sides we went with White Rice, Plantains, Mashed Potatoes, and House Salad. All the food was received well by our crew and they were pleased to be able to partake in what was left after the meal was done. The White Rice comes with peas and carrots right in it. The Plantains are fried perfectly. Mashed Potatoes were velvety (sadly they appear to have taken them off the menu since we ordered). And the House Salad was a light side to rest of the rich food. What was over the top here was the delivery of the food. This was two weeks post snowstorm and the streets of DC were still mini mountains to climb. Our delivery person was amazing with the delivery. He, however, had the mishap of the mashed potatoes deciding to ditch before being delivered.
