What a gem of a spot. Heard about this place from a cheap eats page and it absolutely delivered. There isn't a menu here - you pick two sides and a main course and it's one flat (very affordable) price and you're getting a butt ton of food. I tried my Spanish but the employees responded back to me in English unfortunately - I guess I gotta work on my gringo accent. Stop by if you're looking for a quick bite and yummy Dominican food. Restaurant is located on the same block as Target. You have to take a big step up to get inside the door. When you walk in you order from one side and go down the line picking what you'd like to get from the food selection. Some items that were available today included plantains, white rice, arroz morro, beef stew, pernil, veggies, mangu, beans and chicharron. There is no menu so it's hard to tell what else is available besides what is on display. They do have the morir soñando drink which is like a creamsicle drink. You can pick anywhere to sit. The place isn't super spacious but good for families. If you're looking for no frills spot check this spot out! read more

Always DELISH! I used to work in that area and Los Hermanos was our "go to"'for lunch! My kids had a Dominican sitter and she'd walk with them there to get their ABSOLUTE FAVE: beef empanadas!!! That was 15 years ago. My children are now adults and I no longer work on that side of town. Imagine my surprise when I came upon them while scrolling through DoorDash in search of dinner options! My KiDults were equally excited! We ordered and crossed our fingers praying they hadn't changed recipes (as a lot of long standing non-chain places do)!! Lemme tell ya! EVERYTHING! YES, evvvvveryrhing was as good; if not better, as we remember! My go to's are the steak and the beef empanadas but everything in there is always yummy!! The only thing I didn't care for was the "Dominican cake". I'd never had it before and it was a little too dry for me. I can't deduct stars for that because everything else makes up for it! Since I've moved to DC, I've been craving Dominican food! I'm coming from Boston and Dominican spots are very prevalent, so I ate Dominican food pretty regularly. I currently live in SE DC, so not very many Dominican spots near me. Most are across the city. I happened to be in the Columbia Heights neighborhood yesterday, and I remember a colleague telling me that would be a good neighborhood to check out Dominican food. She wasn't wrong. I pulled up google maps and noticed one within 5 minutes from me. I made my way over there! I will say there were a lot of food options when I arrived. This place is popular. In the half hour, I was there so many people came in and out. The line was moving kind of slow, though. There were only two women on the floor, but the food was worth the wait! I ordered arroz con gandules, pernil, platanos maduros, and a side of vegetables. They filled up my to go box, and the food was so good! The only point of criticism is that the food was a little too salty for me. I generally add salt to my food, but here they definitely season it a lot. If I lived closer to here, I'd def frequent this spot more, but at least, I know where to go whenever next I'm craving some Dominican food. read more

I cannot recommend his place enough. You need to RUN, not jog, not walk, but RUN to this place. I don't know who their kitchen staff is but they deserve an Olympic medal for some of the best Dominican food in DC. I come here and I am always in the mood for something different. Everything just looks sooo good, from the arroz con gandules to the carne guisado to the morrir sonando... (my usual order)... The great thing about this place is that I'm not even Dominican and I feel right at home. They have a great open space to dine in or take out. I found this place by surprise since I had been up and finished my morning workout very early. it was one of the places that were open by 10am. Awesome authentic Dominican food in DC! They have no menu and you go straight to the counter and let you know what you want. You will pay at the end depending on how much you get. I got their rice, plantains, chickens, and ribs. Everything I had was super delicious and the meat was really tender and very flavorful. i've been eating at this restaurant for 25 years. I go for the salted cod fish and rice, a Caribbean staple that they do better than anybody in the area. I know the family who owns it. Wonderful brothers surrounded by family and an extended community of very friendly Dominicans. The food is authentic, consistently well prepared, always fresh, and tasty. If you know Dominicans, you know that hygiene is paramount and nobody leaves hungry. Huge portions that are reasonably priced. Highly recommended. read more

The food was good let's give them that credit. However! The customer service is BAD We went yesterday and we were being rushed, unfamiliar with the food I was trying to make the right choice. I looked at the lady after she continued to slam food on the plate and she said people are waiting I turned back and there was one other lady waiting and one other server so what's the issue? As I asked what meats were available she slightly rolled her eyes and mentioned them. Will not be going back too many good restaurants in the area to deal with the bad attitude. I had this Place bookmarked for about a year or so and I was finally in the area looking for something to eat so I went in and tried it. All the food is up front in the hot bar and it all looked very fresh. I tried the rice and peas (flavors 9 and cooked well) with pernil and I also was greedy enough to get an order of mofongo with pernil ,(well seasoned and moist) (don't judge me judge your mother) all delicious. This is a super casual eatery. Don't expect anything fancy. Come here for a quick and tasty take out. You can eat here too but the atmosphere is not the best for sitting and dining here. The dining area is huge but interior design is pretty bad making you want to leave. It could really use some music to mask all the noise of kitchen, staff, TV. It was all very incoherent. As a family we used to come here very often. After years of not visiting los hermanos we came today. The arroz congri, beans and carne guisada were very good. However, I asked if they had tostones?the cashier said it will take 5 minutes to make them, so I bought them and she said they will bring them to us. 15 minutes after and my son had to go and asked for them. they were soggy, so I went and asked if they fried them for the Devon time or if they used the microwave? The lady serving the food , looked at me and said yes, they fried them. I told her that they were soggy and not good and she only replied yes they fried them. They were definitely either old or not fried.. you could see they were soaked in oil. It was as simple as offering options.. Then choose your protein, rice and your side. You will know how much you will pay at the end. My plate with the pasta and pollo guisado rice and beans was $15-17. I am not sure because my husband payed lol. But I am pretty sure the plates ranges from $12-$18 (maybe). Also portion size is huge. Great for two people or for a heat up left over meal. There is no parking just street parking but it is very difficult. Another thing is I went in on a Saturday. I am not sure if they offer lunch specials mon-fri.
