First review of June so here we go!! I was at the Sam's Club up the street and wanted to stay in…read morethe area for a quick bite because of the traffic. So I just yelped and this place came up. I love a homey looking restaurant so I decided to give them a try. Now the inside has two area...the bar area with a few table tops and the other side where you can go to the counter and order and has several tables to sit. I decided to sit at the table tops on the bar side. The bartender came and took my order. I decided to start off with a strawberry margarita. Now, I was kind of disappointed in the margarita because if you asked me I would think it would be made from scratch. It was not...Smdh So the margarita was extremely sweet and tasted artificial. I ended up getting a couple of other drinks ended up being Mai Tai which tasted way better. Now on to the food...shrimp tacos were made with the small shrimps and was plentiful which was good. Just when I asked for cheese it was the queso fresco I believe which was not what I expected. I also ordered steak tacos and the steak was cut in strips like you would find at a Chinese restaurant. Not seasoned at all. The guacamole I ordered with a side of chips didn't have flavor or salt either. I was so disappointed again this restaurant seems to supposedly should have been "authentic" and everything should have tasted homemade and on point. Would I come back no... The side order of jalapeños were grilled good, but the green onions can't remember what they are actually called rates old and were left side like they were sitting around getting soggy. The amount of money I spent compared to what I got...it's one and done for me.

This is my second time coming here, and I came back solely for this frijol con queso pupusa. Maaan that thing is tasty! Especially when you dip it in their salsa . I'm knocking off a star for their carne asada taco. Now y'all know better than to be serving some steak that's dry and unseasoned. It was a shame too because that grilled leek was such a nice touch. I also got a horchata. Decent, but needed more cinnamon. I'll definitely be back for that pupusa though! And wash it down with one of their giant margaritas. Hope this helps!

Mexico Restaurant is one of those reliable neighborhood spots we keep coming back to. The food is…read morealways good, the portions are generous, and you really can't go wrong with a margarita and some chips and salsa to start. The menu has a little bit of everything, but this is definitely one of our go-to places when we're craving Mexican food and don't want to venture too far from home. It's casual, family-friendly, and perfect for an easy lunch or dinner when nobody feels like cooking. Nothing overly fancy, just good food, good drinks, and a spot that has become one of our regulars over the years. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the White Plains/Charles County area.

At the same time we walked in (we are also black for context), a couple of young black boys also walked in attempting to sell candy, and the gentleman at the hostess stand said "black boys coming" in Spanish and then looked at us without speaking at all. I said "table for 3, please" and he sat us without saying a word. We sat at the table closest to the hostess stand and I couldn't help but notice him speaking and being kind to everyone else who was not black that he sat. The bright spot is there is a very young man who works at the stand checking people out who was an absolute doll and I could tell he was kind of overcompensating for his colleagues rudeness. We moved here from DC & this was very much a shock to me. The food was ok, not great but reasonably priced. My margarita was pretty good though. 2 stars for the marg & the very nice young man.

First, a fair warning to visitors - if you do not know Spanish you will likely feel a bit lost and…read moreout of place. A lot of the signage was in Spanish and so was the language people spoke. I know enough Spanish to speak to a 4 year old, so I was way out of my league! I noticed upon arrival that they have some baked good, grocery goods, and apparently hot dishes given there were a few tables where people were actively eating. I just kind of strolled around for a minute looking lost. There is no one readily available to help people like me with the deer-in-headlights look. I had hoped to try an empanadas but it seemed intimidating so I strolled over to the shelves where there were various breads, pastries and cookies. I was still a bit lost because I first saw people with trays and grabbing breads but I thought they might be employees. But after wandering in another circle I noticed a lady grabbing a tray and tongs. I then saw the little sign that said to use the trays and tongs for the baked goods. I then followed the lady and managed to grab a few items. I had hoped for some cupcakes or donuts but saw neither. I did however get a cheese danish, a couple of cookies and a couple of breads. The items I got were pretty good and the bread was fairly soft. I certainly wasn't disappointed in any of the items I grabbed, I only wished there were a few other sweet items and a better system to better understand how best to navigate the store. But all things considered, the baked goods were good enough that I may very well be back to sample other items.

It had no idea about Sublime's 1994 Skunk Records promo of 40 Oz to Freedom. It had no recollection of the epic festivals out on Redondo Beach. It never once said "stoked" or "gnarly". It refused to "post up" at the Ralph's and looked at me funny when I said "dank". It hadn't even seen all of the Fast and Furious movies. Yeah, this tortilla wasn't definitely NOT from California. Food still good though. A++++++ and two thumbs up.

I ordered the Blackened Chicken Caeser burrito that I used to get all the time. It was really disappointing. The burritos are huge...maybe too big to wrap the Tortilla around. The guy who made mine managed to poke his fingers through it, so that the minute I went to pick it up, it split in half and all the contents came out on the wrapper. Fortunately, they have forks. The chicken was hard and dry. There wasn't enough Caeser dressing or lettuce on it for it to resemble a Caeser salad...not like in the good ol' days. I'll try again...but at different location.
