Fig leaf latte

This was AMAZING! I tried the fig latte and could not get over how perfectly flavored it was. My friend had an earl grey tea too which was yummy! It's also so so cute in here, I can't wait to come back!

@sookdc coconut tahini lattes & @maydandc mornings burritos with Syrian seven spice lamb, feta, scrambled egg, sumac onions and side of zhough might of been the best bite all weekend pictures don't do it justice!

When Compass Rose closed, my heart broke a little but I am glad to learn they only closed for a short bit to reopen for a different concept. Sook is a coffee shop by day turned wine bar at night. The environment is so friggin' cozyyyyyy. It gives intimacy, privacy or concentration depending on your goal. We popped in for dinner and some wine (there goes my dry January!). We enjoyed khachapuri, chicken quinoa bowl and delish hand cut fries - all fantastic. We also went to the bar to sample a few wines before we settled in a bottle of the rose. I LOVE that they have Turkish and Mexican wines-people sleep on wines from those regions but they truly are some of the best in the world. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Sook and look forward to checking it out during the day to enjoy the workspace and hopefully some amazing coffee (Turkish, maybe?)

Stopped here for a quick caffeine boost this weekend and was so pleasantly surprised! The space is so cozy and cute and I immediately felt at home. They have QR codes on the table to order which makes things super easy. I got the fig leaf latte, iced, and it was delicious!! I'll definitely be back

I stopped by to try this place. I got a Hojicha Macha latte and a Kachapouri. The hojicha was nice and rich with great balance. Kachapori was very flavorful with egg and cheese. The bread was nice and buttery. It's the perfect breakfast treat. The interior is very nice and inviting has a ton of seats and tables to enjoy a coffee or tea. Service was good and quick but one odd thing did happen. You order at the counter I went in ordered and I asked for a recommendation on food and they asked how far I needed to walk home. Never really giving me the option to eat there. I thought maybe there was just something going on and they were doing dine in. The weird thing was everyone was offered it afterwards. Overall outside of that food and drinks were good would definitely be back if I am in the area.

Beautiful coffee shop near Dupont! The rose matcha drink was so good - the perfect level of sweetness. The environment inside was really cozy too. My friends and I hung out for more than an hour, and it was the perfect place to socialize.

Valentine's Specials

I was so excited to try Sook and it did not disappoint. I love the cozy and laid-back atmosphere (and great music choice) of the café/wine bar, having now been for both dinner and for coffee. My dinner visit was on Valentine's Day, where my partner and I were pleasantly surprised to find seats, especially since we had been here (or more accurately, Compass Rose) for an amazing dinner on one of our first dates years ago (and several more afterwards). Attached are some pictures from dinner, including their darling Valentine's specials, and the khachapuri, which we were relieved to see remaining from the old menu. Seriously, it's that good. I've also been back during the daytime for coffee, which I've also enjoyed. The armchairs are perfect for sipping a cappuccino and getting work done. Service has always been friendly and accommodating. One note is that we miss the shallot-infused gin dirty martini cocktail that was on the old menu, I think that was the best dirty martini in the city. Overall, highly recommend for a casual dinner or cozy afternoon treat. I've been satisfied with everything I've tried here, and enjoy every visit.

Cozy!!!

Up the steps into what looks like the cozy townhouse you want to live in! Cozy brick and peacock-bangled details creating a whole lovely VIBE that makes you want to eat the entire AMAZING menu and drink the ancient red wine tasting. Great music and cocktails for date night with all the ladies. Highly recommend.

It's a basement bar with a bit of a dive vibe, but it's hard to ignore the nautical, blue crab theme throughout. Turns out that one of the owners is a Marylander, which is cool to see reflected in the decor in a place in dc, even though it is next door. They have a happy hour and they have a great variety of drinks in general. It's bring-your-own-food (BYOF) and there are a bunch of delicious looking Asian spots nearby, including upstairs. It didn't start getting crowded until closer to 10, which, as I said, is surprising for this part of town to me. Everywhere in Chinatown is not going to be packed and busy, and this place is here to remind you of that. Stop by if you're looking for a more chill vibe. Staff are pretty cool.

You seat yourself and order at the bar, servers will bring you your food as it's ready. The food was good, but portions were tiny. The whole menu is labeled as shareable, but the butter beans literally had maybe 15 beans with toothpicks to share... the fries were pretty good, but for $12 for just a bowl of fries, I would expect exceptional. I liked the chili crisp salmon, but it didn't blow me away, and the portion size for $18 was so small. I did think the Parker house rolls were fantastic, and they came out piping hot, which was delightful. The mocktail option was also excellent! I really wish they would reconsider only having Baked and Wired pastries available in the morning- you only have one rotating cake option available for dessert, and it would've been nice to be able to enjoy more. I did not think the service experience here merited an automatic, unchangeable 20% gratuity. There's very minimal service- you are just brought your food and a water carafe. And while everything on the menu looked and tasted good, the tiny portions for items labeled as shareable didn't feel quite right. A fun place to stop in for a glass of wine, but I didn't love the experience enough to be eager to return.

Dear reader, Maxwell…read morePark is exactly the sort of charming little wine bar that makes an ordinary evening feel rather more sophisticated than it had any right to be. The wine list is enormous, with plenty of options whether you know exactly what you like or prefer to experiment a bit. During our visit, they were running a back-to-school theme with clever head-to-head comparisons of similar wines. You could order half glasses of each and taste them side by side, which made the whole experience feel fun, approachable, and slightly educational without becoming terribly serious about it. There is a good amount of seating inside, plus a lovely patio with fire pits that makes lingering especially tempting. The food menu is equally flexible, ranging from simple chips for snacking to a full burger for dinner, with more indulgent options like caviar and Champagne if the evening calls for a little grandeur. Everyone was incredibly nice, and we had such a relaxed, enjoyable time. A wonderful spot for wine, conversation, and a proper little hangout.

I'm glad I managed to find red and white wines that I enjoyed. I also noticed that they had a crunchwrap on their menu and I had to try it. It was smaller than I thought, but the flavors going on?? Spectacular. There will also these dumplings... SWEET POTATO DUMPLINGS! And they had sage and candied walnuts. Ultimately they tasted more like a dessert, but I was obsessed with those and loved how unique they were. I'd return here, there's just too much good stuff to try! Can get pricey if you want to try a lot of wines, though.
