I couldn't quite figure this place out. While a lot of higher end bakeries have lines out the door on Sunday, this place did not, and the selection of breads was a bit limited. Their sweets did look overly sweet and unsubtle and I opted against getting any. Their menu of breakfast foods didn't have much to my liking either. There were several breads available. I ended up liking the baguette, which browned nicely, but got a multigrain bread as well which was a little too soft to butter properly. I liked them, but I wasn't overly convinced that I needed to come here for baked goods given plenty of other options; the bar for specialness in a bakery is high, and Seylou this was not. read more

Worst bagel sandwich in DC, actually worst bagel sandwich I've ever had. I sought out a place near 14th/U for a hearty breakfast sandwich and the reviews of this place seemed good. However, it should always raise suspicion when at 8 AM when everyone is walking around with their coffee and breakfast that a breakfast restaurant is empty with no customers. I ordered an iced coffee with milk and steak, egg, and cheese sandwich on everything bagel. The coffee was "meh," tasted like Folgers or nothing. The breakfast sandwich was awful, the bagel had the rubbery consistency as if they microwaved stale bread, and it was coated with burned char of bits of "everything seasoning." The egg was a sloppily cooked mess of white with a stripe of weirdly isolated yolk which was slapped on half of the sandwich. The steak was strangely seasoned and tough enough to hurt my teeth as I tried to bite it, in the end inedible. I could have gotten a better breakfast sandwich at Dunkin Donuts or even McDonalds, next time I'll save some money and go to one of those establishments instead. read more

I found Bread Bite Bakery on Google because my friends and I needed breakfast fast --and they did not disappoint! The service was A1! I ordered the salmon, egg, and cheese on a jalapeño bagel and it was absolutely amazing. Everyone in my group loved their food too! This morning I ordered an egg & cheese bagel along with a chocolate filled croissant. To drink I ordered the Iced Chai tea which was fabulous. I thought it was a bit strange that I was the only oatron in the cafe, but I sat a table anyway. I didn't think that any of the employees were that friendly. Nobody greeted me, and when I asked a question about the croissant, it seemed like the male employee begrudgedly answered my question. Then as I was eating, he started to sweep the floor and he even was sweeping right near where I was eating. I got the impression that nobody working here really cared whether I was there or not. The bagel breakfast sandwich was good, and I believe that it was simplybre-heated in the microwave. If I wanted to feel ignored I would have gobe to the big chain coffee store. The cashier was rude and not friendly. I came in to order a bagel and green smoothie. I politely said I wouldn't like to have any milk products or anything added just to make sure that wasn't the default and she rudely stated, what does it say it on the board... does it say milk? Then it doesn't come with it. And that threw me off, and I said.. whoa ok, you know what never mind, and cancelled what I ordered. Less sour and chewy than other sourdoughs, it's almost like a mix of white bread and sourdough with the fluffiness and freshness of white bread and the crunchy crust of sourdough. I really enjoy Bread Bite's cupcakes. I got the strawberry and the dulce de leche. The cupcakes are big, not too sweet, and really flavorful. They are also reasonably priced. After exploring coffee shops and bakeries in Washington, D.C. for more than a decade, I was surprised to stumble upon one I had never heard of. After grabbing breakfast here, I understand why. After waiting in line here on a Saturday, it's clear it's a neighborhood joint. The staff are very friendly and knew most customers by name. It's clearly loved part of Dupont Circle. However, I wasn't impressed with the food. I ordered a chocolate croissant and an iced latte. The croissant was MASSIVE, but tasted stale and not good. My iced latte was poorly made and didn't taste like quality coffee. Go for the amazing customer service, but you can find better baked goods and coffee (like at nearby ThreeFifty Bakery and Coffee Bar). read more

Due to some very poor planning on our parts (long story), we ended up here for coffee and pastries this morning before meeting some friends at Meridian Hill Park. It's a grab-and-go place with no seating and the owners seemed like a very sweet and hard working couple, but...oof. The food is terrible. The almond croissant was a mushy mess and the chocolate chip cookie tasted like a Sysco specialty. Iced coffee was fine as was the iced chai, but we're pretty upset that we wasted a dining opportunity here when there are so many exceptional bakeries around town. 2.5 stars, rounding down, sorry to say. read more

Bread Bite is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. I go there a few times a month for my everyday bread -- there is nothing like picking up a just-baked loaf of their whole wheat or, if they have it, their cheddar jalapeno loaf. I usually go right home and eat a slice or two straight out of the bag. In addition to those two types of bread, I would *highly* recommend their chicken salad sandwich on fresh ciabatta, and I also like the lemonade they sell. They did a potato garlic loaf at one point that was really delicious too, and I'm crossing my fingers they will bring back olive bread at some point. Jorge and his small team of bakers are so friendly and very caring. I've seen Jorge go out of his way to make sure that customers are satisfied and that the bread he sells is always up to his personal standards. Their personal touch makes life in the neighborhood feel welcoming and reassuring, even during such a difficult and turbulent time. I'm not as big a fan of their croissants (they are the bigger, heavier kind and not super buttery or sweet), but it looks like some of the other reviewers enjoyed them. Also, if you are picky about your baguettes, know that Jorge's style with his is more fluffy rather than crunchy/chewy (at least to the best I can describe it -- I tend to like the skinny organic baguettes from trader joe's the best).
