I like the location of Fruitive, right at City Center along with the several luxury stores. Its location and the target demographic of the nearby stores like Louis Vuitton and Gucci probably justify some of the prices, as the small iron berry smoothie I ordered came up to close to $20. While it was a good smoothie that refreshed my morning, expect to pay more than your average smoothie shop.

I loved my order from here! I got the chili, a cacao shake with added protein powder, a green drink and a breakfast burrito. It was perfect for my breakfast and navigating the airport on my way home. The staff was kind and knowledgeable. The food was delicious, and I enjoyed the view of the colorful alley- even on a rainy day.

Full order of Avocado Herb Toast

I'm in DC regularly for work and recently started trying to find healthier dining options, which led me to Fruitive. I ordered breakfast two days in a row: avocado toast and a coffee date smoothie, then a double order of avocado toast. The smoothie was good. But the avocado toast is, without hesitation, the best I've ever had. The gentleman that took my order was very personable and the lady that made my breakfast both days did so with a smile on her face and obvious care. I'll be back!

    fully melted, slimy acai bowlj

Worst acai bowl of my life. I ordered the pb acai bowl. It was pretty much fully melted from the beginning and slimy. Absolutely disgusting. Cashier also ignored me while he did something off to the side. Finally decided to do his job and take my order. Would not recommend.

Cute place with a cozy, coffeeshop vibe with old books on the walls. Lots of window bar seating for people watching. Counter gal was super friendly and helpful. I had a pressed juice which was delicious and a berry waffle -- gluten free & vegan! Overall I'd recommend for a healthy breakfast option!

I'm quite disappointed with myself for just finding out about this place, especially after starting my clean eating journey nearly three months ago. Nonetheless, I was thoroughly excited to try out a couple of items from their extensive menu. Everyone was very friendly and patient with my questions. I opted for the peaches and green smoothie with protein powder added. This was amazing! So good and will probably be my go-to. I also tried the almond banana waffle which was divine! I probably ate my mini order in three bites. Ha. The space inside is minimal for seating but there are a few tablesoutside, as well. I want to try the pizza options on my next visit but they only serve them after 5 pm according to the website. They have so many health focused menu options that it helps to take the guesswork away when trying to monitor your nutrient intake. This was definitely a nice find on my journey through City Center DC!

Right in the heart of city center DC is the best little freshly made items at Fruitive. Getting to fruitive is a nice little walk from the metro. Depending on your route you will find yourself walking through a different art installation each season. This months was colorful umbrellas in support of pride month and the summer. It's so fun walking underneath them and could turn any frown upside down. Back to the food, on this day I opted for their southwest wrap which was very fresh and filling. I only got through about half before I felt full. It's packed with lots of veggies including romaine, corn, tomatoes and cucumber. The staff is really nice and the inside of the cafe has recipe books talking about wellness and eating more healthy. Hands down I can't wait to go back and grab a smoothie next time!

I was here for a quick lunch during a weekday. The space is cutesy and small. They have so many healthy and clean options and I am glad because not many places have such healthy options. I placed the order for a Southwest Quesadilla and an antioxidant bowl. The food arrived in around 15 mins. The quesadilla was very dry, the cashew sauce was not great, overall it was kind of okay. The guac and pico de gallo were not fresh. I loved the antioxidant bowl except the fact that the granola had sunflower seeds which they should "declare" because many people are allergic to it and honestly i was not expecting seeds. Should definitely be on the list of ingredients given it an allergen! You dont see the seeds on the ads they have for the bowl.

Overall- super small cute little shop with tons of delicious, fresh, and healthy food with good service. I popped in just trying to get some veggies since I was out of town and was pleased to see that there was tons of options for me! I had the All Greens produce blend which was unbelievable. I was expecting it to be a juice but it was thicker, almost like a smoothie. The employee let me order it without celery which was flexible and kind. If i lived closer I would totally frequent this place. The street that it is on is adorable and decorated with leaves and string lights.

Antioxidant with almond butter and protein
    Love K.

Located around the corner of my hotel, this small shop was a delicious treat in the scorching heat. I ordered a Antioxidant Acai Bowl and added protein, greens, and almond butter. After the additions, the bowl was on the pricey side but it was delightful nonetheless. There is a bar (and table) seating which is great to people watch as you eat. Cheers!

Look, I enjoy my animal proteins quite a lot thankyouverymuch, but I have earnestly been transitioning to a more plant-forward diet due to a number reasons (hey, probably the same as yours!). Mosty I admire how the best plant-based chefs can make their recipes flavorful and filling...because it's literally more difficult from a scientific point of view (glutamates, etc.)! Over the course of two lunches and dinner offered by Simply Vegan, I can say that Nikevia really topped the charts in terms of wonderful vegan chefs. The multi-course menus were hearty, fresh, FLAVORFUL and delicious without feeling heavy at all. She had a wonderful touch with flavored waters (yes, she even flavors them better than anyone I've known!) and personal service. I very much hope that I find the occasion to have her cater an event that I organize! Or, at the very least, that others will take this review as a serious endorsement of her cooking chops. Please consider this wonderful chef and her company for your next event. Thank you, Nikevia!!

As someone who does not typically gravitate toward vegetarian/vegan menus, the meal felt especially fresh and quietly innovative--proof that vegetable-forward cuisine, when handled with this level of intent, can be just as compelling, layered, and satisfying as any traditional tasting menu. Opting for the Camino Corto menu proved to be a well-judged choice. Paired with the supplemental arepas, it offered a generous and satisfying progression without ever feeling heavy. The arepas--served with guasacaca, cashew sour cream, and chontaduro butter--were an excellent addition, setting a warm, flavorful tone and easily standing as a highlight on their own. From there, the menu unfolded with precision and clarity. The picaron with persimmon, lúcuma, and huacatay was playful yet composed. The arracacha with fava beans, plantain, and mushroom dashi brought depth and umami-driven warmth, while the watermelon ceviche with white soy, cilantro, and quinoa delivered brightness and balance. The malanga course offered satisfyingly to-the-perfect point chewy texture, and the arroz con gandules--pigeon peas, sofrito, and sea beans--managed to feel both comforting and refined, a balance not easily achieved. Dessert, a modern bienmesabe with coconut sponge, coconut praline, and pineapple sorbet, closed the meal with elegance and lift. What stood out most was how seamlessly the kitchen elevated vegetables beyond expectation--never as substitutes, but as the main event. Each dish felt intentional, expressive, and complete. Service mirrored the cuisine in its composure and warmth: attentive without intrusion, polished without stiffness. There is a quiet confidence throughout MITA that allows guests to settle in and fully engage with the experience. This is the kind of restaurant that shifts perspective--where even a dedicated omnivore leaves not missing anything, but instead discovering something new. Because it was a set prix-fixe that wasn't posted publicly beforehand, it felt like a bit of a gamble, and unfortunately, it didn't pay off for my group. There was very little room for accommodating dietary preferences, which was surprising for a vegetable-forward concept. It would have helped if they had made the menu public so we knew what to expect before sitting down. The Malanga Gnocchi was a letdown. As a main course, it felt uninspired and lacked the "wow" factor I expected from a place with this reputation. Overall, I felt the dishes could have been much more inventive. For a Michelin-level spot, the flavors felt a bit safe and didn't showcase the full potential of plant-based Latin cuisine. The service remains attentive and the space is beautiful, but for the price point, I wanted more.

The menu is a twist on Asian food, with plenty of analogues, chunks of soy and/or wheat protein, and some vegetables. It's not all vegan--a few dishes have dairy and/or honey, and I suspect one of the noodle dishes uses egg noodles--but those items are clearly marked. We were last there on Thanksgiving and tried a few new things. The veggie kabob reminded me a bit of the kabob at the late, lamented Harmony Cafe in Georgetown. Sure, I'll get that again. I'm not so sure about the mushroom dish. I do love mushrooms, but perhaps this isn't the way to go about it. On prior visits, we've gone with old familiars. The fried "chicken" appetizer (chunks of soy protein and mushrooms fried and served with a spicy ketchup) are a classic. I am still trying to find my go-to entree.
