    Bakery case

Royal Bagel Bakery is a staple for my family and I, but we typically just order a dose. Bagels and bring them home. Today we ordered breakfast sandwiches and coffee, and had a great experience. The line was a little hectic to order at first, but once we got through it wasn't bad! I would definitely get another sandwich from here, and looking at the bakery case, I want to try some pastries as well! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This spot has the vibe of an old fashioned deli, making the atmosphere inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I stopped in looking for breakfast pastries to enjoy on a Saturday morning. There was a large variety of baked goods and breakfast sandwiches. Everything I tasted was good and I would likely return. The service was efficient and there was adequate parking.

Royal bakery is a low key bakery in Germantown that will easily become your new obsession. I love coming here for any baked good such as bagels, donuts, cookies. They also have delicious sandwiches and make cakes. I always come to get my turkey sausage, egg, and cheese on a toasted bagel and it always hits the spot. 10/10 will recommend! Their Ruben sandwiches are so good too! Service is great! They take your order then will call you when it's ready. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They only have a few tables and they're usually taken up if they're busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]So if you go don't expect to sit (but you might get lucky with a seat! ) Go early![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

(5/5) Royal Bagel Bakery is that underrated neighborhood gem. The bagels are always fresh, soft inside with the perfect chew, and they don't skimp on the spreads or toppings. Whether I'm grabbing a quick breakfast sandwich or just a classic bagel with cream cheese, it always hits. The staff is friendly, and service is quick -- even when it's busy. Definitely my go-to spot for bagels. Solid every time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is corner shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The absolute best spot for your breakfast in germantown, fresh bagels, great pricesfriendky staff, and they have jalapeño bagels! For real, go and get a toasted jalapeño bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese. You will not be disappointed. They also offer an amazing selection of sweets ranging from cookies to cakes.

Roast beef special on a hard roll.

We got to roast beef specials. Considering they have bakery in their name the bread was hard and old. Not very good.

The food was delicious and service was fast! I had an Asiago bagel with hot pepper cream cheese and it was so so good! I got a black and white cookie to go with it and that was also super tasty.

Stopped here on a Saturday late morning for lunch. Being a first timer - it reminded me of a deli/bagel shop you'd encounter in Manhattan. Plenty of pastry cases with cakes, cookies, bagels, etc. Looking for a deli sand I had a hard time just finding a turkey sandwich - so I went with a Canal St - Turkey, thousand island, lettuce and tomato on wheat. This was good - but the bread wasn't toasted or toasted enough - so the dressing made it quite messy - which rushed me eating it. Not really complaining just explaining. I noticed B&W cookies so I ordered one as well. Not bad - though the cookie part tasted quite bland. Overall good - would return and recommend.

    Lox bagel

I didn't like the way my lox platter looked. I get lox bagels all the time from different places and it never looks like this.

Date of visit: Saturday 10/28/23 Food: I've had the oreo cupcake, Apple fritter, 42nd street sandwich, cinnamon swirl, oreo cake donut, chocolate cake donut, glazed donut, apple turnover, and glazed cake donut. The main standouts for me are the Oreo cupcake and the 42nd street sandwich. The Oreo cupcake is one of the best cupcakes I've had and the frosting is too good. The 42nd street sandwich is pretty good but it's a lil pricey for the portion of food you get. Personally, all the other items have gotten worse with each visit and have become okay or average.

Plain bagel was good. I wish they would have spread the cream cheese more and added way less.

6/29/26: Bethesda Bagels is a solid option if you're looking for a filling breakfast or lunch, but…read moreI don't think it quite lives up to all the hype. I ordered the BLAT bagel sandwich, which came with bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato, red onion, and cream cheese on a fresh bagel. The sandwich was filling and had generous portions of bacon and avocado, but overall I thought it was just good, not something I'd go out of my way for. I also paired it with an iced coffee, which was exactly what I expected from a standard cold brew. The shop was busy and the staff kept the line moving, and there are plenty of bagel sandwich options on the menu. My biggest downside was the price. It's on the expensive side for what you get, and while the quality was good, I didn't feel it justified the cost. Overall, Bethesda Bagels is worth trying if you're in the area, but I wouldn't consider it a destination bagel shop. The food was good, just not memorable enough for me to make it a regular stop.

My go-to is the sausage and scrambled egg on a multigrain bagel; it never disappoints. You can actually watch them making fresh bagels, and it shows. The texture is spot on, perfectly chewy on the inside with just the right amount of crisp on the outside. Everything tastes fresh, and service is quick, even during busy times. The staff is always friendly, which makes the experience even better. Their cream cheese is excellent, too rich, flavorful, and a noticeable step up from the typical grocery store options. They also carry cookies and other treats from local vendors, which are definitely worth trying if you have a sweet tooth. If you're craving a solid bagel sandwich, this is the place to go. Bonus: free parking makes it an easy stop.

But there's a pattern here that keeps me from giving a higher rating, and today it crossed a line. For a spot charging $7+ for a bagel with cream cheese, the policy of charging extra for a to-go cup with ice and a lid has always felt petty. Today it got worse. I asked for an extra cup & lid for ice before being rung up, and the employee wrongly assumed I wanted a simple water cup. When I clarified, instead of extending a small courtesy to a regular customer, he stopped and ran a separate credit card transaction for $2.65, the full price of a beverage, for an empty cup. I had already paid for my bottled beverage. It's not solely about the money. It's about what that gesture communicates to your customer. A $0.25 cup given as a goodwill gesture goes a long way. A separate $2.65 charge for an empty cup does the opposite. The food and early open time will keep bringing me back. But management should keep in mind that it's the small things that turn regulars into occasional visitors.

There was a very chocolate cake (prettier than it tasted) and a key lime tart that was OK (and very tart). I bought 2 elephant ears and should have returned them. Very disappointed. They were huge and looked light and flaky, which fooled me as they were very dense and hard. Inedible. I threw them away. Not thrilled with myself for that and my company was disappointed. I bought 2 bagels which were good and chewy and fresh, thank goodness. My overall opinion is that I spend more than $40 on things that were prettier than they tasted or went to the trash. Stick with their bagels and perhaps their sandwiches (which seemed popular).
