Beiler's Doughnuts has been around for about 30 years already, and they have other locations in Lancaster, the Reading Terminal Market, and in University City. For some reason, I thought this was a stand-alone doughnut shop, but it's located inside the Lancaster County Dutch Market. Their menu offers various doughnuts, fritters, and seasonal items. We stopped by, and we picked up a 1/2 dozen box: +Blueberry Fritter - with blueberries and cinnamon folded in and covered with glaze +Glazed - yeast doughnut, covered in glaze +Powdered, Strawberry-Filled +and, a Harvest Apple I think it's best to get these doughnuts early in the morning or when they are freshly prepared; there were staff who were preparing more fritters and other seasonal doughnuts, but they didn't come out by the time we were ordering. The doughnuts we had were fine - the hubs enjoyed them more than I did, especially the Blueberry Fritter. There was definitely a line for this place, but it moved along quickly. Staff was friendly! I also liked that they accepted cards and had an electronic payment tablet system set up. Plenty of parking in the plaza lot, but it's tight; watch out for pedestrians! +friendly service +located inside the Lancaster County Dutch Market

This is my first time going to Beiler's Doughnuts. Will it be my last? Hmm... probably not? Beiler's Doughnuts is located in the busy Lancaster County Dutch Market and is easily seen from the entrance. It's hard to resist buying half a dozen when the glass bakery case is full of a large variety of perfectly glazed and iced donuts! I did think the donuts were a bit pricey, but obviously it didn't deter me. The line moved very quickly -- until it got to me (sorry!) because I hadn't decided on my flavors yet. There were so many to choose from! My fiancée only wanted 1 glazed donut, so as ABBA would say... gimme gimme gimme! I got Boston créme, a blueberry fritter (fritters are not an additional charge), 2 harvest apples, and an Oreo créme. Even though I had five out of the six donuts for myself, I obviously wanted to try the glazed, and thankfully my generous fiancée offered a bite. The glazed was actually my second favorite: the glaze was a little too sweet, but the texture of the donut itself was divine. I thought the Boston crème was the best. It wasn't too sweet, but I did think there was too much filling -- yes it's possible!! The Oreo créme filling seemed like vanilla frosting with some Oreo crumbs mixed in. I personally did not like it because it was way too sweet and didn't taste like Oreos. The blueberry fritter was also too sweet but the chewy texture was pleasant. The harvest apple was okay. I will likely be back to try more, but I don't see myself ordering any filled donuts because of the sweetness level. The texture of the yeasted donuts was really soft and chewy.

You can't go wrong with a Beiler's Doughnut. The hard part is deciding which ones you will try on any given day. I wasn't a fan of cream filled doughnuts until I tried these! Had a chocolate peanut butter today and it was delicious!

Clockwise from bottom left, coconut chocolate glaze, triple chocolate, blueberry fritter, sour cream.

GERMANTOWN, Md. - Probably our fave donut provider in the DMV. Located in Lancaster County Dutch Market, which is in a shopping plaza just off 270, nice selection, good prices ($1.75 per donut), and boy howdy those are some good donuts. More solid/substantial than what you'd get at a a big chain donuttery. Nice array of various flavors and types - always a fan of their fritters. Bonus: the attached bakery has a variety of breads, muffins and pies and you can buy a half pie. Service is quick and efficient and friendly.

This donut shop is located in the Dutch farmer market in Germantown. They have a huge variety of donuts and toppings and I absolutely love the donuts here. My favorites are the fruity pebbles and the blueberry cake donut. Compared to other donut chains and shops in the area the donuts here taste more fresh and flaky. Usually the line isn't too long so you can get your donuts pretty quickly. They also accept card payments which I appreciate. I'll definitely be coming back here when I'm craving donuts.

First time ordering from Lancaster County Dutch Market and thought I'd try their doughnuts. Here is what I ordered: 1 Boston Creme 1 Vanilla sprinkles 1 vanilla fruity pebbles 1 peanut butter creme 1 cinnamon sugar 1 Nutella Creme 1 Oreo Creme 1 Chocolate Fruity Pebbles 1 Powdered 1 Dutch crumb There doughnuts are different sizes and shapes haha. My ultimate favorite out of these ten were the vanilla fruity pebbles and the cinnamon sugar. All the other ones were okay and I wouldn't get again, personally. Some of the doughnuts had an old taste to it which led to a weird after taste. Now, i don't know if its supposed to tase like that, but it wasn't good. The ratios weren't off too. Either too much frosting/filling and vice versa. Would be open to trying the other things they have in there. I do have to say they have great customer service though. They graciously wrote a note saying that they didn't have the Dutch crumb so they replaced it with the sour cream and thanks for understanding. Overall, I would order 2/10 doughnuts for next time so I can't give it a 5/5 stars.

So one random week I decided to contact them just to inquire about their prices, flavors and such (I found this info on their website). They actually didn't respond until over a week later, and I realized it was because they were out of the country! So they let me know when they would be returning and so I contacted them again then. By some insane twist of fate, the day they said to contact them also happened to be National Donut Day -- obviously a sign. It turns out they don't have delivery right now (probably because they just returned?) so I had to arrange a pickup. They're $4 a pop, so I decided to just get half a dozen: Cinnamon Sugar Chocolate Oreo Mango Pistachio Rose Raspberry Pina Colada I arrived at the house, waited a few minutes, and the man came to the door with the donut box in hand. The donuts looked awesome too! Then I went to my sister's and surprised them with vegan donuts for the special day -- great feedback all around. I didn't get to taste every single one, but the chocolate oreo, rose, mango pistachio and pina colada were delicious!! The flavors popped, the texture of the donut was light and had me not feeling too guilty, and they looked nice! It was totally unexpected to find a vegan donut spot so close to my sister, and to be family-run is lovely! They have an interesting history on their website, you should give it a read!

Physical Exam: Food - I ordered the special four cheese bacon bagel that they had on special with tomato and scallion cream cheese. My wife got a plain bagel with scallion cream cheese. It was all impressively reminiscent of a NY bagel. Great density, chew, and crust. The cream cheese was administered generously. Ambiance - The establishment presents as a classic New York bodega with a deli counter layout -- compact, no-frills, and entirely appropriate for its intended function. Great place if you want something with quick service and great food. Service - Quick, functional, and to the point. No complications noted. Assessment: A neighborhood gem and so thankful we stumbled upon it. Royal Bagel Bakery delivers an authentically New York bagel experience in an otherwise unlikely corner of Germantown, Maryland. One downside is they got very plain coffee, but it's the type of place where I'm looking at the coffee purely as fuel, and nothing more. Plan It's so far away but I definitely will try to go again next time I'm nearby. Specialty bagel was a phenomenal choice. Gotta try their cakes next time, which looked crazy good.

My nova bagel with all the trimmings was nearly flawless There's very limited and basic indoor seating and some outdoor tables if the weather is nice. But the focus is on the baked goods. My little joy was bringing my grandson up close to the large glass case so he could look at the delectable offerings. Maybe the start of a tradition?
