Your cakes are genuinely high quality, and that's definitely appreciated. However, your business hours don't really align with customers' needs. Most people, especially on weekends and days off, have time to go out and shop--but you close quite early, which limits that opportunity. These kinds of hours don't make much sense for a popular bakery. It feels more like an office schedule than a customer-focused business. If you had more flexible hours, more people would be able to enjoy the quality you offer. read more

Very neat, tidy establishment with attentive staff. There are so many options to choose from, but I came for the Middle Eastern pastries. I should've gotten the smaller box since it'll cost more and you pay by weight, but I tried many things like the Finger Baklava, Rice Cookie, Portokalopita cake slice, Chickpea Cookies, Bamieh, Zulbia, Diamond Baklava, and a Mini Rollet. My faves were the Portokalopita for its custard and slight orange flavor, the Mini Rollet (very simple yet tasty to me), Rice Cookie, and Chickpea Cookie. The chickpea cookie tasted exactly like an Indian sweet or cookie which I loved. I was a bit disappointed with the Zulbia, Bamieh, and Baklava. I expected a stronger rose flavor in the Zulbia and Bamieh. I am also used to Zulbia (or Jalebi) having saffron too. The Baklava was good, but not the best I've had- it was lacking rosewater or orange blossom essence. Overall, glad I came to sample a bunch. I was able to have one of their cakes at a party I attended. Based on the menu, they seemed to have a number of different baked goods including lots of cake types. I was able to have the classic strawberry shortcake. It was presented beautifully. The taste was solid as well. The slice was lighter than I would have thought and there was a good balance of icing, cake, and frosting. The strawberry flavor was not too overpowering either. It was a simple cake done right and it was a classic as the name of the establishment suggests. Will I go back? I would. read more

I visited this bakery on my work break hoping to score a sweet treat. Unfortunately, the vegan options are scarce. They do have nondairy milk to enjoy with coffee. They have one clearly marked vegan cookie called the Chickpea Cookie. It was not my favorite. It tasted like a healthy cookie. I asked the employee at the register if there were any other vegan options. She did mention one item that might be vegan. Behind the counter they have a list of what does not contain dairy or egg. I was worried since that item was not labeled vegan that perhaps it has honey in it. This bakery has such a beautiful case of desserts, and I wish they had more vegan options. I know they can make a vegan cake, and it would be nice to keep a vegan cupcake available daily. As of now I would not go back, but if they increased their vegan offerings, I could see myself becoming a regular. read more

Classic Bakery made my birthday cake this year! I have never had a cake from a professional baker. Wow, it was delicious. I have never tried a German Chocolate cake before but my parents told me stories of how my grandmother used to make this kind of cake for my Grandfather because he loved German Chocolate cake so I wanted to give it a try. Its a strange looking spot from the outside. But don't let that fool you, once inside the pastry offerings are something to remember! We had the hot chocolate and baklava (but so many choices), it was all so delicious, they even made us a vegan hot chocolate and It was amazing. It's a bit on the pricy side though. Disappointed with Delivery Experience - Classic Bakery (Gaithersburg, MD) I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience today (June 10, 2025) with Classic Bakery was extremely frustrating and disappointing. I placed an online order two days ago and selected a 4:30 PM delivery time because I work during the day and wouldn't be home earlier. Around 1:50 PM, I received a call from my apartment complex notifying me that my perishable delivery from Classic Bakery had arrived -- nearly three hours early. My apartment complex does not have cold storage, so this was immediately concerning. I called Classic Bakery to ask why my cake was delivered so early despite the specified 4:30 PM time. The man I spoke with (who later identified himself as the owner) told me, "We don't even do deliveries at 4:30. Our normal delivery hours are from 12-4 PM. If you wanted 4:30, you should have paid an extra fee for delivery outside the window." I pointed out that their own website lists delivery hours as 12-5 PM. His response? "Oh, we must have extended our hours. I didn't know that. I don't know what the website says." That alone is concerning--how does the owner not know what information his customers are seeing online? When I asked to speak with a manager, he told me again that he was the owner. He then tried to compare it to ordering flowers: "It's like when you order flowers but it's a cake -- delivery times are a window." But if it's truly a window, then why allow me to specify 4:30 PM at all? Instead of trying to fix the situation, he explained it would be "too much" for the driver to come back, pick up the cake, and re-deliver it later. He did call the driver, but then told me they were already on to the next delivery and it couldn't be changed. His only suggestion was to "try to keep it in an air-conditioned space" until I got home -- not helpful at all, especially with a perishable item. What bothered me most was the complete lack of apology or accountability. If everything he said about their delivery process is accurate, then the website needs to clearly reflect that. Customers should not be misled into thinking they can select a specific delivery time if it's ultimately meaningless. Bottom line: If you're considering delivery from Classic Bakery, be extremely cautious, especially with perishable items. The lack of customer service, clarity, and concern for handling food items properly is unacceptable -- particularly coming from the business owner himself. read more

On May 22nd, I submitted a cake inquiry for my daughter's graduation dinner party (which is scheduled for this Saturday at Glenwoods Restaurant) an incredibly important moment in her life and ours. My family has been ordering from your bakery since I was 13 years old. I'm 46 now. That's 33 years of loyalty and trust in your business. You even did my wedding cake last April. But after what's happened, I can say with certainty that we are done. What you've put me through this past week is unforgivable. I was working with Jessica to finalize a Hello Kitty graduation cake. Instead of being treated like a valued, long-standing customer, I was tossed around like a nuisance. I called repeatedly to speak with Jessica, trying to PAY and place the order, and was met every time with "she's busy," "she'll call you in five minutes," or "she's gone for the day." Days of this nonsense. Then yesterday, I get an email with a quote and invoice, and ten minutes later, another email saying you can't do the cake. Are you serious? No phone call. No conversation. No opportunity to discuss it with my husband. Just sorry, not doing it. Do you have any idea how careless and cold that is? Now I'm scrambling at the last minute to find another baker I didn't want to use, all because your team couldn't get it together. And then, to top it all off, Jessica calls me today asking if I'm ready to place the order. Are you kidding me? Is this some kind of sick joke? You already told me you weren't doing it. And now she wants me to cancel the other baker? The one I had to pay already (can't get my money back) because your bakery completely dropped the ball? Unreal. This entire experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. I'm beyond furious. I'm heartbroken. I'm emotionally drained. You took what was supposed to be a joyful tradition in our home and destroyed it. My daughter wanted a Classic Bakery cake. That mattered to me. It mattered to her. And now, because of your chaos, carelessness, and complete lack of professionalism, she won't have that. You have lost a lifelong customer. The best bakery! My family has been coming to this DMV establishment for years. They have supplied cakes and other pastries for family events, and the quality has been nothing but superb. The moment you walk in, they greet you and treat you like family. Every time I go there, there was always something brand new i.e. a new pastry, cookie, or cake flavor. The bakery is clean, organized, bright, and inviting. If I'm ever driving in the area, I make it a point to stop and get myself a latte. I accidentally showed up 30m early for a birthday party at SkyZone and so walked over here with 9-year-old son to get him a treat and chill. This place was perfect for that. Everyone was incredibly cheerful and helpful. They had a few cookies and tarts that we could have and made a good espresso. My son got the a few chocolate and butter cookies, which he devoured and didn't let me taste. I got a fruit tart and a chickpea cookie. The best carrot cake I've ever had! Was to serve 36 guests, but was so large it could serve twice as many. Beautiful piping, too.

Our gender reveal cupcakes came out perfect and the cake was so tasty. We were very happy.

Do not order custom cakes from them, they made me a completely different cake and insisted it was what I ordered even though it looked nothing like the reference picture on the order ticket (which they themselves pulled out). They insisted it was the cake even when the colors they were reading off of my order ticket did not match the cake in front us. It was crazy gas lighting, I felt si disrespected. After several minutes they agreed to refund the cake after I caught the manager admitting the cake was white and then read the ticket which no where said white. (The cake was a white background with blue and pink piping, it looked like a gender reveal cake when that is not at all what I ordered. You can see for yourself in the screenshot of the ticket I attached). More details to the story This review is from someone who has been a repeated customer for over 3+ years now. This was the first time I ordered a custom cake and never again am I going back! I ordered the cake to be held overnight on Saturday so that I could pick it up Sunday morning. This is the only way you could pick up the cake early in the morning. This is why the ticket says pick up Saturday 4pm instead of Sunday 10am. However Sunday morning the manager or owner of the store called me and I found out no one put a note on my cake that I was picking it up Sunday morning. But the manager apologized since it was an issue on their end and told me that it was no worries and that he would prefer I pick it up at 11am. I assumed he meant pick it up no later than 11am because they couldn't keep it for me any longer in the fridge. However when my family went to pick up the cake they were told the cake wouldn't be done until 11am because it needed "retouches" bc of the humidity of the cake. I thought this was unusual but fine, we didn't have any other option but to wait. When they brought out the cake even my family knew it was wrong because they knew the party theme and the cake did not match at all. When I saw the cake and heard them insisting it was the cake on the ticket (which they had on the table right next to the cake!) and saw that they were still insisting the white gender reveal looking cake I was so confused! This experience was the definition of being gaslighted. I started questioning if I was seeing the color correctly through the phone since he was insisting the cake was white and not pink, but no my family said its not at all pink its white with blue and pink piping! And the best part was i don't know where they got blue from because it was no where in the ticket! Thats when it all made sense. They threw my cake out when they saw that no one picked it up Saturday afternoon and when they called me and realized THEY made a mistake they asked that we pick it up at 11am so they could quickly whip up a new cake for me in less than 2 hours. And I told the manager that while on facetime. As soon as I said that he, agreed to give me the refund but still came back and shoved a napkin in front of the camera trying to STILL tell me that the cake was light pink and not white. Which that wasn't the only issue with the cake, it also had blue piping and you could tell it was rushed! The piping was walmart level piping and no where near what was in the reference photo and the writing in the middle reading "twenty five" was also rushed and not even centered! They make great looking cakes which you can see from review photos so I knew this was completely off from their usual standard of work. The order ticket says that they do not guarantee color matching, which I completely understand if its not the same shade of pink or lavender, but this was completely not that. Instead of admitting they messed up and didn't have my cake they treated us like we were dumb enough to believe their lies just so they could keep my money. That manager guy is going to make that business plummet! I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere to a bakery that doesn't see it as just a business deal but actually cares that you are buying cakes for special celebrations/events. read more

We ordered a strawberry shortcake cake for a friend's birthday. Ordering online was super simple, which also made pick up pretty easy. Classic Bakery is now located in Shady Grove area, around Sky Zone. I walked in and loved the set up. The bakery appeared very clean and organized, and the abundance of baked good options blew me away. I was greeted and helped within 2 mins. They asked about writing on the cake and were able to do it very quickly. The line was getting longer, so obviously this is a pretty popular bakery. The variety of cake options, and other baked goods certainly makes me eager to return. It would be nice, however, to see more GF options, but was great that at least one was available. This place is my go-to place for cakes bc they always make it where it's just the right amount of sweetness. Never fails each time. I usually order online for pickup and they always deliver it on time. This place moved to a bigger place but still in the Rockville area. I just want to try everything on the menu. They have cake samples that are just perfect to try all sorts along with baklava and also savory items like spinach and cheese spanakopita. I'm not quite sure how I feel about Classic Bakery. I liked that I could place an online order in advance. The things I did not quite enjoy: the Greek Easter Tsoureki (bread) I ordered was cold and felt pre-made (as in made days before). The Portokalopita was ok in taste, but pricey for what it was. My pickup order was for 12:00pm and I purposely showed up at 12:24pm to give them time for my order; I thought by then my order surely would have been ready and I could grab and go. The employee couldn't find my order and then took about 10 min for my order to be filled. Lastly, it would have been nice to get a bag considering I pre-ordered $100 worth of goods. Classic bakery always provides in a pinch. Needed a last minute cake on a Sunday. As all other bakeries were closed. Classic was open and had quite a few delicious cakes available. We've had their tres leches- amazing! One of the best! Mango and now raspberry non custom cakes- amazing! The sponge cake is fluffy and taste great. The icing is not to sweet. I ordered a specialty cake for my husbands retirement dinner. I asked for he medical symbol design to be printed on top of the cake in gold print. They created an exact replica of the medical staff symbol. It was stunning and nothing short of perfection. The cake was tall like a wedding cake and it was incredible! Nothing from this place is ever mediocre. Clean surroundings, display was neat and well stocked with variety of cookies and pastries perfectly arranged on display. Service was great. And the cake (vanilla cake with mocha icing) for my gf's bday was as good as expected. I got a few treats for me too- fruit tart, Kourabiedes (Greek butter cookies with powdered sugar), classic baclava. Surprisingly, another guest at the party also got tiramisu cake from Classic. Is there anything better than stumbling across a bakery? I was getting off 370 in search of a Starbucks and put "coffee" into my gps. Up comes classic bakery and I think, "why not?" Don't let the business park signs fool you, this is worth the extra few feet from Gaither Rd. I came in and was instantly welcomed and ran to see the middle of eastern delights - shredded wheat baklava is a favorite of mine. Completely missing the great selection of cakes, I tried a baklava and a chickpea cookie with a coffee. Once done, I came back to the counter where I was helped so nicely to get three boxes of cake to take home to friends. They are so friendly here - I sat for about an hour and enjoyed a tea while playing on my phone - no one disturbed me, they were just wonderful. Highly recommend. read more
