I don't come across this dessert as often as I like, so finding it at Asian Bakery Cafe was a treat. They also have moon cakes, roll cakes, and a small freezer for take-home dim sum. The Asian sponge fruit cake, which was our primary reason for stopping by, was adequate. Again, it wasn't the worst I've had, but it also wasn't the best I've had. The sponge cake was light and not too sweet (an Asian dessert standard), but it wasn't life-changing or anything to write home about. The cake had nice presentation from the packaging of the box (tied with a ribbon bow) to the icing and fruit on top. Fruit toppings included cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberries, kiwi, and peach. Fruit distribution in the filling was uneven and sparse. The cake met our needs but I wouldn't necessarily choose this bakery over another. I do want to highlight their service. When we picked up the cake, the worker kindly carried the cake for us and put it in our car. Five stars for service!

Lastly, the buttercream on the Mini Cupcake was overly sweet and the cupcake was not as moist as I would have anticipated. There is limited parking (outdoor) outside the shop, but it is free.

It was 10 days prior to a wedding reception that we realized we had not ordered a cake-I was able to meet with the baker and she guided me through the process by LISTENING to me! A rare find in this day and age. When the cake was delivered-it brought tears to my eyes-I had ordered a three tier, three flavored cake with a leap of faith! No tastings, no referral! The customer service, presentation and taste were way beyond my expectations! We received many compliments at the reception- As a guest favor, I also ordered the small "I do" cakes-they were a hit! They made our engagement cake and our wedding cake. For both cakes, they were the highlight of our events. I showed her an engagement cake that I saw on pintrest and was able to make it. I also showed her a google image of peek-a-boo cake that we wanted for the wedding and it came out spectacular. She is a great communicator and will not leave you hanging. Apparently they wanted us to pay a retainer to lock in the date, but we were just supposed to guess that was required since it was never mentioned in any communication nor was an invoice provided to us to do so or a means of payment discussed. We would have had no problem at all paying even in full had the business mentioned it even once that it was required. Really a disappointing experience all around working with the provider.
