I FINALLY had the chance to go to one of her pop-ups at Neighbor's coffee last weekend. I purchased several Macarons for myself and my coworker. This is probably my 3rd time having macarons and I really just love it. The macarons are diverse with usually a variety of flavors and characters. I would say though, they look a bit grainy. Service is amazing, I like the idea of being able to pre-order ahead of time if you sign up for her newsletter. I'm usually at the pop-up's (Rockville) so lots of vendors to see as well. The line can get busy but moves quickly. read more

Tried Sweets By Caroline at Hypefoodies Festival. What a delight they were. Their food truck really stood out and looked unique. The artistry and skill used in their food really impressed me. This was my first time eating a Labubu and it did not disappoint. The workers were so smiley and friendly. They really left a good impression on me that set the tone for the whole festival. The macarons are cute but I can't justify buying them anymore. I've bought from Caroline many times at the markets and special orders but they're always just okay. The macarons are dry and crispy, shattering when you bite into them instead of yielding to a chewy center. The flavors in the filling are good ideas but don't always come through. I ended up having to throw out half the box since they were basically inedible. I debated writing this since it is a small business, but I believe they deserve my honesty. read more

Picking up the cake was also very easy-- I was texted directions on how to pick-up the cake. Ever since that positive experience, we've followed Caroline on Instagram and subscribed to her newsletter to see what events she'll be at. One of my favorite desserts was her ube flan macaron! Whenever the Mosaic District is hosting a street festival, the first place my five-year old makes a beeline to is Sweets by Caroline! I love how you can purchase individual macarons, it allows you for just a bite of a sweet treat, that looks and feels indulgent. They come in many different flavors and adorable shapes from Cookie Monster to Yoda to Pooh Bear! We recently picked up her seasonal cherry blossom macaron which was truly a work of art. A cake from Sweets by Caroline stole the show at a friend's intimate grad dinner. Bubbly and cake together really is the best of both worlds. Seriously, take a look at the photos here to be wow'ed. The cake was a made-to-order red velvet and covered in a white cream cheese frosting. Flowers, macarons and gold flecks adorned the top of the cake, with a bottle of bubbly peeking out up top. What the cake delivered in presentation, it also delivered in flavor. Very tasty and not too sticky sweet - definitely a cake of quality and caliber. Caroline created the most beautiful Noah's Ark themed cake for my baby shower. Everyone gushed about how adorable it was so of course I reached out again to have her create another cake for our son's 100 day celebration. The cake was red velvet with cream cheese frosting and it pleased even my super picky family. We loved how moist the cake was and both the cake and frosting were the perfect sweetness (not too sweet like many fondant cakes tend to be). I shopped around a bit and she is also one of the most reasonably priced bakers for custom cakes. I tried Caroline's Macarons at an artisan festival in Fairfax. They were so good, I wish I bought more!! My biggest complaint is really that her website doesn't offer the option to buy any macarons unless they are in specialty packs. And she can do any design that you'd like- both macaroons and cakes! I had her make macaroons and dog shaped donuts for my dogs 9th birthday. While the cakes look amazing, the business is not run well. I've encountered poor communication, starting back in August 2020. The most recent and unforgiveable incident happened when I explicitly reached out to pick up the cake on a certain day (the day before an event) had even confirmed with Caroline, and she mixed up the dates and the cake was not ready.
