Our meal was delicious, service was excellent, the view was awesome however our table was near the bar area and there were several patrons walking around or standing around the bar area without masks. There was a group of 8 people standing pretty close to our table and not one of them had on a mask and nobody from the bar or restaurant told them to put on masks. Probably would have normally given this place a 4 star review, but the fact there are so many 1-star reviews while the food was SO GOOD tells me somebody is sandbagging this place. That's not right, that's not fair--the food, the service, both were excellent. I would've knocked off the star because I feel the prices were a little higher than they shouldve been...BUT, the food was terrific and I do feel we got our money'$ worth. We were a foursome for an important birthday. I got the filet mignon medium-rare with onions/mushroom accoutrements, and it was absolutely delicious. I loved it (another person got this too and agreed). Another guest got the Inlet fried platter and the portions were HUGE and the person ate it all and said it was great. The final guest got the ribs and I couldn't believe how many there were--he loved it, I had some and it was very good, but I would've gotten the filet anyway. We had a bunch of sides that were all good. The string-beans were the standout: fresh, crisp, good mix of butter and garlic. We didn't get a dessert because we had another one planned at home for the birthday. Service was attentive and informative (Debbie, I think was her name), but not hovering. Very helpful and pleasant without being annoying. Excellent meal, a little more expensive than I would have preferred, but not unfairly so. Worst experience possible!! I'm on my honeymoon and go there for my wife's birthday, so I order the 12oz Ribeye (Medium Rare). She also ordered a margarita along with her dinner. The margarita tasted like straight mix (no tequila). My steak was barely warm and tasted alright at best. I ate about 3/4th of it before becoming sick to my stomach. I threw up in the bathroom, then informed the waitress. She seemed hesitant and came back with the check. I was throwing up again, but she told my wife food poisoning takes a minimum of 6 hours to take effect. She blatantly lied to my wife (who is a nurse) and then when I told the manager, he was not sorry or understanding and said I could call later to speak to his boss if needed. read more

Meh, I'm not so sure about this place. As a tourist I wouldn't come back here. There wasn't anything overly awful that happened but enough small things that would deter me from returning when there are SO many other options for dinner in the area. We sat at the bar before our reservations and when my husband asked to see the drink / beer list, he was told there was none and the bartender pointed to some bottles on a wall and said that's what they served. When my husband said he couldn't see that far, the 'tender seemed annoyed to have to read off the names of the like 6 beers they have. My friend got a mixed drink where it's possible the bartender forgot the vodka and we asked the waitress to please have it re made. They were accommodating of that request. Our waitress was very friendly but it took quite some time for our empty glasses & salad plates to get cleared so the table quickly became very cluttered as wait staff attempted to find room for our main entree dishes. My husband ordered the bone in rib eye and I can tell he didn't like it because 1. He didn't finish it and 2. He didn't say anything about it as he ate it (he's typically very vocal about his steak dinners.) Afterwards he told me it was very greasy. While I did not see it, my friend said she saw a roach on the floor near the bathroom. Like I said, it wasn't an awful experience but I wouldn't got back. Pros: the views of the water are great. We went here for the first time for dinner. We made a reservation but there wasn't a wait (weeknight at 630). Excellent waitress, beautiful view and the food was exceptional. Be sure to get something that is wood grilled. I got the ribeye and my daughter got the cheese pizza. Now, my husband got the shrimp n grits which was my 2nd choice and it was phenomenal. I really enjoyed my visit to Bovine's. We arrived a bit before the dinner rush and decided to sit at the bar area. We started with the chicken-cheese egg rolls. I loved them because they were nice & cheesy and the chicken had a roasted flavor, that was not overly smoky. For my entree, I decided to order one of the specials of the day - fresh grouper over a bed of blue crab mac & cheese and mixed veggies. This also came with a salad and the corn pudding. Thankfully, I skipped the salad bar because this would have been too much. Everything I ordered was yummo! David decided to go with a caeser salad and the shrimp pizza since they have the wood oven. I took a bite of his pizza and thought it was very good. A little on the sweet side but quite delicious. Our server was really attentive and went out of her way to take care of us. I am glad we decided to give them a try. I would most definitley go back. read more

It really hurts me to write this. We eat at Bovine's a lot. That might change after our last experience. The last time we dined there, they bombed. Really. First, part of what makes this place is the view. All dang summer the owner has had his HUGE boat parked in front of the restaurant. Guess what? It blocks the view from the dining room. Onto the food. Had the calamari appetizer and the shrimp, they were fine, but not as good as usual. I had pizza, it was soggy. The fried seafood was over fried. The new crab cake recipe did not please my mother. The steak was fine. Overall the food did not live up to the standards that we are use to from Bovine's. The service was exceptionally slow as well. They were busy, but not that busy. I hope that we only caught them on an off night. But given the very poor experiences that I have had from several Divine Food Group restaurants this summer I fear that it may be a company problem, not just an off night. read more

First Night We just moved to the neighborhood and wanted to treat our friends who helped us with the transition. We chose Bovines as we know the waterfront views are incredible and the food fabulous. Bovines delivered as expected. We sat out on the deck in the warm evening breeze soaking in the view and sipping on wine . We started with Coconut Shrimp for all which was delicious! Entree choices were the to die for, melt off the bone, Ribs and perfectly cooked Wood Fired Salmon . The special included a Sweet Potato Soufflé we all shared with many an oooh and aaah! Topped it all off with yummy New York cheesecake . The fabulous food and views were expected of Bovines. The fun surprise was meeting and visiting with so many great people; our server, the assistant manager and fellow patrons. We stayed talking late into the night.....a wonderful evening for all! I went there with some of my family and they said their drinks were off the charts! We were also seated outside and the view was beautiful. I've eaten at nearly every restaurant along Murrells inlet & Bovine's is definitely one of the better ones in both taste and value. For the appetizer our waitress Rachel brought us out some fresh warm hush puppies with honey butter- they were amazing. For my entree I had the shrimp & grits, and it did not disappoint, I'm a big grits guy & they nailed it. I will absolutely be back for it again. Dessert was a slice of cheese cake which topped off the meal perfectly. Our waitress Rachel was incredibly sweet & attentive to our table since the moment we sat down. With a name like bovines you would assume the steak should be off the charts. Tired of the seafood this week five of us went to get steak dinners. Not one person enjoyed their steak. I complained my medium rare was well done and they brought me one that was rare but far better than the first. Unfortunately no where on the menu did they mention a cilantro reduction on the steaks. (Which also came on the salmon) Lucky us; the entire table has the genetic marker that makes cilantro taste like dish soap. May want to warn your customers with such an aggressive herb. The appetizers were great definitely recommended trying the truffle Alfredo wings. the service was acceptable but not out of this world. She misunderstood what we said brought an extra app and still made it our fault but next time we're in town for steak it won't be here. Went to Bovine's for their 5.00 brick oven pizza on Monday nights special deal , parking lot was filled finally found a space . Ordered the margarita pizza with pepperoni , it was delicious and a Pepsi came to 7 bucks and change .The restaurant was nicely decorated for Christmas and my service was good . Last time I was there was for my office Christmas party which was a seafood platter that was also good. It has a nice separate bar area and of course overlooks the inlet. So all in all ,liked it and am going to try their taco night next , they run these special nights during the Winter months when it is slower of course. read more

Had a really good meal here as a last minute decision to eat out. I had a crab cake sandwich and my wife had a burger. Both were done perfectly. Never been so happy to leave a good review since bovines and wahoos are now the only 2 places left on the marsh walk that has not sold its dock space to jet ski rentals. Thank you for allowing locals to still come dine with you by boat by the way. With this in mind I was prepared to eat garbage just to support Bovine's for keeping their dock space. We were happily surprised had the grilled salmon nice piece and actually cooked med rare as ordered almost unheard of in MI. Good flavor too. Veggies were fresh Brussels and I think parsnips that appeared to be actually made in house. Also unheard of. Pleasant surprise we will be back Holy sh*t!!! Tried to go to lunch new dock signs say "private dock will tow". Listen guys when's the next recession hits and no one can afford jet ski rentals don't ask your locals to support you. Came to Bovine's Saturday night for a bachlorette party of 13, our waiter Mason was exceptional with handing our rowdy crowd. Wine selection was good, the Kung Fu Riesling was right up my alley. Food is definitely well priced for the amount you get, an entree, two sides AND salad bar, amazing. I had the special which was 12oz steak covered in bacon hollandaise sauce with asparagus and pimento cheese mashed potatoes, HEAVEN. First time at Bovines. The place had a very strong smell of charcoal due to a poor ventilation system. Ordered the Twin Lobster tails each 6 oz. 37.95 including salad bar. The lobster tasted like charcoal. No taste of lobster what so ever!!! I ate 1/2 of one and left the other. The server, Debra got angry when I told her that I couldn't eat it. Didn't ask if I wanted something else and never sent the Manager to the table. On our bill and she charged me 14.95 for the one lobster tail and 9.95 for the salad bar. My boyfriend and I went to stay with my aunt, uncle, and three cousins in their Myrtle Beach vacay house on Memorial Day weekend. Coming from Chicago and being a huge foodie, I wasn't sure what to expect on my first trip to the area but wow this place kind of impressed me! We all got some really amazing dishes. We started off with the chicken rolls, the baked garlic, artichoke dip and calamari and all were amazing. I could've seriously made a meal out of them. I had the tuna special, and I will say my tuna wasn't as raw as I'd like, but it was still very good. My boyfriend got the clam pizza which was AMAZING. The fish okay but INSTANT MASHED POTATOES with garlic powder was served on this $28.95 plate! Seriously??? We both had the salad bar: bagged salad among the other toppings. We came here for our last night in SC and what a bad choice. We were seated right away as we had a reservation, and as we were shown to our seats I saw a salad bar. I should have known this was not going to be after seeing that. The waiter came over to get our drink orders, and he had a little attitude and seemed overwhelmed by his tables. He even said "this is the busiest I have seen it this summer." This did not make sense because we were there on a Monday night the last week in July. Whatever, we ordered a bottle of wine and some waters. We ordered the artichoke and spinach dip, clam chowder, and got the hushpuppies to start. The dip and chowder were very heavy and really didn't have that much flavor. Out of the three we liked the hushpuppies best - another bad sign. The salad bar was actually fresh and not as bad as I was expecting. Two of us ordered the steak special, which for ~$30 sounded amazing - goat cheese, carmelized onions, 2 filets....the dishes came out and the only thing that worked was that the steak was actually cooked at the right temperature that we ordered it. (medium and medium well) As far as the rest of the plate, it was just a slice of goat cheese placed on top of the filets, some mush that didn't have any flavor, and barely any onions. We were really disappointed by the special dish especially because it was so expensive. The other two dishes were pizza and oyster po-boy sandwich. The pizza was a mess to say the least. It was soggy, poorly cooked, and looked like it was cooked/made hours before, and just heated up quickly in the oven - the tell tale sign is the consistency of the cheese and the middle of the dough. The pizza oven when you walk in smells good but doesnt seem to "cook" any pizza. The sandwich's side was requested to be vegetables, of course it came out with fries, and we had to ask for the vegetables. The meal was just a disaster and very disappointing to say the least given it was our last night in Murrell's Inlet, and we spent so much on it. There are so many other good restaurants right there - go to Wicked Tuna (which is where we should have gone for the 2nd time during our trip instead of here) or Dead Dog. read more

We started our meal with smoked oysters with shrimp and crab it was delicious !! We also got a bovine's deluxe pizza. The pizza was wonderful crispy bottom and yummy toppings. We had the most wonderful and helpful waiter by the name of Jacob. He was very helpful in helping time our meal so it was perfectly spaced time wise For our dinner we had fall off the bone finger licking baby back ribs that you could eat with a fork! The corn pudding was a delicious treat, light and tasty. The shrimp and grits was creamy and full of flavor. My friend got the filet with blue cheese and applewood bacon she loved it and ate every morsel. My other friend got prime rib but after eating the oysters and pizza and the yummy salad bar with home made dressings she was only able to eat a bites of her prime rib. She loved it though. For dessert we shared one of their home made desserts a triple chocolate cake of heaven!! Absolutely fabulous!! I would go back again but we leave tomorrow :( read more

An OK meal at a restaurant with an excellent view of a big-ass boat. Their entryway has a large mesh curtain that affords views of their wood-fired oven where they make pizzas. My 2-year had a blast watching the cook set up the pizza dough. From there you enter into a large indoor/outdoor bar, which looks like a fantastic meat market if you are in the 45-55 set. We came here for their pizzas, and that's what we got, except for my brother, a chef, who had to get a steak. His biggest complaint was that there was no seasoning on it. We got a spinach artichoke dip plate for the table which came with way too few pieces of toast. He got a lamb appetizer which was pretty darn good. You can really get away with an affordable meal if you go the wood-fired pizza route, they also have a pretty nice salad bar, too. Expect to pay typically premium prices if you go for beef. All-in-all a fairly average dining experience. read more

This was our first time back in almost two years. Our last experience was ehhh so I was hesitant, but eager to give it another shot. This time, they didn't disappoint. The hostess was more than friendly and immediately gave us a great seat by the garage doors which open to the outside, offer a wonderful breeze, and a chance to hear the live band next door at Wahoos. The waitress arrived promptly and ran down the specials as well as offering advice on what beers to try. I had the grilled snapper which was cooked perfectly. The garlic mashed potatoes were less than stellar but the corn pudding made up for it. My gosh that corn pudding. Delicious! My husband had the surf and turf (with lobster) and the steak was melt in your mouth delicious. The lobster was grilled and wasn't chewy, but snapped in you mouth exactly when it should. The wood fire permeated throughout our food and we couldn't have been happier. Why 4 instead of 5 stars? The hush puppies are a little blah, the garlic mashed potatoes need flavor, and the French fries were just ehhhh. The view is awesome, the staff is beyond friendly, and the food is pretty Dagon good.
