We LOVE Lees. Been going there since I was a kid (currently45) and was introduced to Lees from my dad who was going since he was a child. However, tonight 9/5/26 we went to Lees and I found a hair wrapped around my oyster. I showed it to waitress and she said well there are men in the back. Ok - is it her hair? She could care less. Meanwhile we have been going here over 30 years and she didn't care there was a hair untwined in my oyster. Sad. Think twice about going here. It really has gone downhill. read more

For 77 years this family run restaurant has been serving up fresh local seafood. As a kid my husband spent many summers eating here, so while on vacation Lee's was at the top of our list of things to do in Myrtle Beach. This place was charming with good old fashion southern hospitality. Service was great & there's lots of free parking. Note, if you're a group of 15 or more you can make a reservation, otherwise it's first come first serve. If you're a large party like us I recommend calling a couple weeks ahead, because they're limited on taking more than a couple reservations per night. Our meals consisted of seafood & steak dishes. We started with the most wonderful hush puppies I've ever tasted...served with honey butter! I also had the Fried Seafood Platter which included Flounder, Oysters, Scallops, Deviled Crab & Fantail Shrimp. This dish was really delicious & everything was cooked perfectly with huge portions. I ended up taking half home. What a fantastic time & meal. I can see why Lee's was voted Best Seafood in South Carolina by Southern Living Magazine. Would I order it again, probably not. Maybe the Black and Bleu Salmon with Balsamic glaze next time. The 3 stars rating was mainly for my plate and the amount of food for the price. Since the flounder was a small size, 2 pieces would have worked better for the price. The place is famous for its hushpuppies but I didn't think they were a big deal. The plate next to me was a Blackend Scallop and Blackened Fantail Shrimp combination. In my opinion, both the scallops and fantail shrimp were too small. The hush puppies that came to the table with the honey butter weren't bad-they were nice and hot, but we prefer the ones at Dead Dog and Drunken Jack's. I had a black cherry hard cider-they rotate seasonal flavors. $6 was a decent price. I had the small seafood combo with broiled flounder, fantail shrimp, and deviled crab. The flounder had the skin on which was soggy and unpleasant, and the fish was a bit overcooked. I enjoyed the shrimp and the deviled crab was nostalgic. It came with a side, which my baked potato was fine, and a salad. The homemade ranch was delicious. My friend had the grilled salmon and enjoyed it. On a bustling Thursday night after a big rainstorm walked in at 5:45pm and was told the wait for my family if 5 would be a 20 minutes. After we sat the bar for 5 minutes our table was ready. We grabbed our drinks and headed to the table and the creek shrimp that we ordered on the happy hour special was brought to our table, hot and crispy. We had reservations for a dolphin cruise so we ordered soon after we were sat. My wife and I ordered the combination seafood platter with flounder, deviled crab & fantail shrimp and 2 sides (pimento cheese grits and the veggie of the day- buttered beans. Lee's Inlet Kitchen (LIK) in Murrell's Inlet is a solid, family-owned restaurant! The staff is incredibly friendly and efficient, the interior is cozy, and the food is quite good! My husband and I visited for dinner on the recommendation of the staff at Waccamaw River Tours, where we received a coupon for a free appetizer. So, we decided to give LIK a try. Our calamari app was beautifully prepared! The seasoning of the breading needed a little more oomph, but it was perfectly breaded and cooked. A little cracked salt and pepper made it spot in. I had the blackened scallops over cheese grits, homemade black-eyed peas, and coleslaw and loved every bite (well, part for dinner and part for breakfast the next day). It was delicious both times! Their hush puppies and fried oysters were also excellent. LIK is worth the drive from Myrtle Beach in order to snag some tasty bites while supporting a locally-owned business! We were talking to a few locals and they recommended Lee's Inlet for good seafood. And Yelp rated it as #1. I am from New England and have grown up cooking and eating really good seafood. Being on the coast I expecting good seafood too. My wife order the special, pan seared scallops and cheese grits, it came with 5 over seasoned salty scallops and about a cup of unflavorful cheese grits for $40. I had the fried seafood plater, the fried seafood that had very little flavor, the only thing that was half way descent was the fried sea scallops for $36. I'm very sorry but I could never recommend this place for good seafood and I am very disappointed in the high rating from Yelp! The service was the only thing I could recommend. read more

The food is very very good at Lee's Inlet Kitchen, the atmosphere is family, but polished, you won't have to dress up to eat at Lees, but you'll see lots of people from beach clothing, to suits. Monday night dinner w/cousin & sister; first dinner together on our vacation. Adorable little place with plenty of parking. Inside seating, however, is very tight, not lending to a quiet atmosphere for conversation. Drinks were brought in reasonable time, then it took a minute before our waiter, Merrill, returned to take our order. Cousin went with the grilled grouper and asparagus. Sister and I split the grilled crab cakes with a side salad and ordered a side of the pimento cheese grits. Hushpuppies were brought. Definitely a sweet cornbread puppy; small and okay, just not the ones we are used to eating. They didn't add anything to the meal. Cousin's grouper was grilled perfectly with no dryness in the thick pieces of fish, and asparagus were not soggy. The house made balsamic vinaigrette for my sister's salad was SO tart none of us could eat it. My sister used some of cousin's blue cheese dressing to finish her salad, since we didn't see Merrill for another 5 minutes. Pimento cheese grits were good after you got through the shock of cheese on your first bite, which is to be expected with such a bold new flavor. Crab cakes were good, but there was a binding agent in it we couldn't identify, almost like a stuffing mix. Still tasty. Drinks ran dry before they were refilled. Military 10% discount was applied to my crab cake dinner and we split our check on 3 cards. Took much more time to check out than we expected. It was our most expensive meal during the week-long trip. It was good, but slow service and tight accommodations would make me consider elsewhere to eat. read more

I've heard so many good things about Lees Inlet Kitchen and the parking lot is always packed but after my experience there, I'd have to say it is mediocre at best. They do not take reservations except for parties of 15 or larger. We were a group of 7. We went early to avoid the crowds. They did seat us fairly quickly. We told the server when we sat down that we would need 6 individual bills/checks. There was one couple and 5 singles. At least 3 of us stressed this. Jumping ahead to the end of the evening we were presented with a bill for the couple and one total bill for the remaining 5. We then had to each go through what we had so we could receive the individual checks. Back to the meal. 5 of us got the exact same special "shrimp and scallops". I ordered it grilled. The scallops were hot/warm, all of the shrimp were cold. How is that even possible. The cost for this special was $42.50. There was a good amount of shrimp and scallops. So it would have been a great value had the shrimp been served hot. Several of our party ordered dessert and said they enjoyed their chocolate chip cake, strawberry cake and peach cobbler. All in all it was not the phenomenal meal that one would expect from all the hype that others give it. It was just basic in my opinion. And basic isn't worth $42.50. Starting with their own special hushpuppies and honey butter and then to the well mixed house salad with homemade dressings, you know that you're in for a treat. Portions are plenty so we skipped the appetizer. My wife had the broiled combination platter with the flounder, shrimp, and scallops accompanied by a baked potato. I was craving a good seafood meal before we left the area and Lee's was exactly what i wanted. The red crab Chowder was scrumptious. My husband got the she-crab soup. It was a little too thick but had very good flavor. The complimentary fritters and honey butter they bring to the table is way better than those I've had anywhere else. I had the blackened grouper which was moist and prepared properly. My husband opted for grilled shrimp and ate them all even though he doesn't like much seafood. Get the onion rings as a side and youll thank me later! Our waiter was very attentive despite being very busy with other large groups. Lee's Inlet Kitchen is a good seafood restaurant past all the congestion in the Murrells Inlet area. They have a bar and lots of seating for small and large groups. The service was good, friendly and attentive. The food was good overall. The fantail shrimp was great (10/10) - very tender and flavorful - cooked perfectly. The shrimp and grits were really good (9/10) with good flavor. The fried fish was disappointing. It was cooked well but had almost no flavor (5/10). Overall, Lee's Kitchen is a good place to eat. Voted Best Seafood in South Carolina by Southern Living Magazine for a reason! We went early, around 4:35. They have early specials between 4:30 and 5:30 PM. Prices are great! Service was timely! We were seated immediately and drinks and hush puppies brought out promptly. Our server was attentive and very busy with other tables, too. I had the fried creek shrimp with grilled asparagus and side salad. The asparagus was $1.95 extra, but well worth it. The vegetable of the day was crowder peas, but the asparagus was more appealing. My son had the fried platter with fries, and my wife had the broiled platter with grilled asparagus and side salad. The side salads had banana peppers in them and gave them an extra kick. The sweet tea was excellent! To top off the meal my son ordered the chocolate chocolate chip cake and my wife ordered the cobbler of the day which was peach. I tasted both, and they were great! The chocolate cake had a ganache/glaze on it that tasted just like the kind my mom made. In my opinion, the cobbler was more like a crumble but still delicious!! The restaurant has been in business since 1948, and I really like the classic decor and some of the nostalgic enlarged photos on the wall. They also still have the original neon sign out front along with one more reminiscent of New England. When we arrived, it wasn't that busy, but by the time we left, it was packed! Enjoyed the hot crispy hush puppies waiting for my cold boiled shrimp. Plump, juicy pieces served with cocktail sauce with just enough kick to clear my sinuses! Fries were hot and crispy, too. It is located in Murrells Inlet and was voted best restaurant in the low country in 2023 by some magazine (Southern Living I think). It is old school southern dining at its best. Think carpeted floors, wooden backed chairs and an aquarium on one wall bc well they serve seafood. They do not take reservations unless you have a group of 15 or more. We called ahead and learned from the hostess there was a minimal wait so we shot down there for dinner. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes for a table once we arrived. Once our name was called, we followed our hostess to a table. We met our server (Celeste) who was attentive and kind to a family with three kids (one of whom does not like seafood). She took our drink orders and then brought us some of the house hush puppies which come as a free appetizer. Our drinks never ran dry and she was on top of everything. For our mains, we opted for the following: Adult 1: Pick 3 blackened (shrimp, scallops and flounder with bake potato and a salad) Adult 2: Pick 2 broiled (shrimp and scallops with fries and a salad) Kid 1: Fried chicken breast with fries and a salad - this meal also comes with a bed of rice and thin sliced onion rings Kid 2: Kids cheese pizza with fries and coleslaw Kid 3: light size meal with fried creek shrimp (popcorn size), deviled crab, and fried flounder with fries and a salad. Let me begin by saying everything was well cooked and appeared to be scratch made (maybe not the fries and pizza - not sure on those but everything else was). It is also a lot of food. Highlights included the scallops (soft and buttery), the onion rings (would totally order the appetizer after trying them on kid 1s plate), the ranch salad dressing is house made and the house salad comes topped with red onion, banana peppers, tomato and croutons. It was clear that the deviled crab was house made by the chunks of veggies in the stuffing (you would not see that with a frozen re-cooked mix). Totally recommend it for your next trip or meal. Will definitely go back if in the area. If you go, it will save a little bit of money if you pay cash - like other places in the area they charge an upcharge for credit card transactions (close to $4 on this one). read more

Ordered the flounder shrimp combo. The flounder had no seasoning at all. I ordered the calabash shrimp. Did not realize til later they gave me a weird looking fantail shrimp, only 7 of them. The table beside of us were questioning the fantail as well. The hushpupppies were too sweet and so overcooked! I find it very hard to believe that Southern Living rated your restaurant as the best TWICE! For this to be a meal at the beach, this meal was awful! Maybe you all, along with Southern Living need to come to Pageland, SC or Monroe, NC and have a real seafood meal. I've never had to write a review like this, if this tells you anything.
