This place is so good we came here twice and just know, I DON'T do that. When I'm in a new place I want to try it all. But The Claw House put up a good argument justifying both visits. Our first and second visit consisted mostly of the same things: Oysters and Calamari to start, Seafood Mac & Cheese and Fish & Chips. I had the lettuce wraps, which are big, so share. And I had Crab Cakes. The wraps were good but they needed a better aioli in my opinion, because it became a sort of watery dressing instead of something sturdier. And the pico de gallo was not actually that. It was diced tomato, onion and had zero taste of lime, salt or spicy. It was fine but could have been killer. My hubby had the Clam Chowder, Pan Seared Grouper and the shrimp Po Boy. He loved the grouper, risotto and the chowder. The fish was flaky and seasoned well. The po boy needed more sauce but was really delicious. My daughter (16) needed a seafood break since she had the fish and chips the first visit and went with the Claw House Burger. She said it was seasoned and that it was indeed 1/4 lb. And Fish & Chips was the best she had had (which, she's had an incredible amount for her young age) -- not too much breading, nice crisp on the outside and juicy fish. The fries both nights were a little chewy but the flavor was there. And how can I forget. Even though on the second night we saw at least five tables start with the Crab Nachos we added a third item, Fried Clam Strips. Those were ridiculously good. I'm not a fan of tartar sauce so I ate it without and it was perfect on its own. Everything was fresh, they paid attention to detail in most individual elements and the location sent it over the top. Had a very nice dining experience at The Claw House. This restaurant is very popular, so expect a wait. It is well worth it! The restaurant had so many choices that appealed to me, but I am so happy that I chose Seafood Mac & Cheese. This dish was jam packed with lobster, shrimp and scallops. The cheese sauce was so creamy. There is an extensive draft beer list, which always puts a smile on my face. I had Pernicious from Wicked Weed-so good. Solid food and solid vibes! Sat on the patio area which is enclosed. It was toasty! For app we got the crab nachos. They were surprisingly good! Nachos are actually wonton chips which were nice and crispy. Also was a really good white cheese sauce on the nachos too. Only suggestion would be for the restaurant to do it in a tray so the nachos can be more spread and evenly coated. For the main, I got the oyster po boy. The oysters were plump and evenly fried. This restaurant is right on the marina and has the best view of the water from their outside patio. They have a few parking spots in front, and more pay to park spots on the adjacent lot. For appetizer, I started with the crab nachos. I didn't realize how big the dish would be! It is definitely a shareable item for 3+ people. I was pleasantly surprised by how good these nachos were! I loved the crispiness of the wontons and the fresh mango salsa, pico and avocado on top. For my entree, I had the lobster roll. I was in heaven! The lobster was chunky and a good amount. I visited here on a recent work trip and on the drive from Wilmington to Charleston and sat on their popular outdoor covered patio. I picked the cajun reddish entree and subbed for the bacon jam and green onion paste, served over risotto instead of grits. I also added a 1/2 dozen of the off-menu Momma Mia (Canadian) oysters. The meal was delicious and the service was great. My colleague also seemed to enjoy his meal. There are a ton of restaurants to choose from in this strip along Hwy 17, but this seems to be one of the better ones for sure as far as an elevated experience and a view without the elevated prices. read more

$88 for the best 6 oysters I ate the entire time I visited Myrtle, 2 beers, a delicious shrimp po boy, and about 6 bites of Grouper and risotto that was around $35 a plate. A table of 4 sat a few minutes before we did and a table of 6 sat probably 10 minutes after them. Our table and the table of 6 were served before the group of 4 who had to ask a bus boy for service. Yikes! Server was sweet besides the empty non alcoholic beverage glasses she did not fill when our food came out. She didn't come back to check in on us until my husband's 6 bites of dinner were already gone. I asked if the portion is usually that small (especially in comparison to the significantly cheaper - MASSIVE PORTIONS we saw being served all around us) and she politely said "yes. typically, sometimes a little bigger." As someone with a culinary arts degree & kitchen background I was very very very disappointed on the portion size of his entree for the price & sizes of surrounding entrees being served (that were cheaper or around the same price) and it literally ruined my entire experience. A smidge dramatic but the God's honest truth! Great view, beautiful patio, friendly service - just extremely disappointed. I planned to order both of us dessert and immediately skipped out & asked for the check when the server finally came over to ask how our food was. This review is hot & cold because my experience was. While pets aren't allowed inside the restaurant-which I completely understand-they do permit dogs on the outdoor patio. However, we were a bit disappointed to learn that the screened-in patio wasn't pet-friendly. Instead, we sat on the lower patio, which turned out to be a great spot with a beautiful view right on the water. First of all I did not give a 5 because of a debacle that was fortunately corrected. Our order was messed up. My husband ordered the fried seafood platter but he got the grilled seafood platter. My niece, who had a long convo with the waiter about what to order since she has severe dairy allergies. When her food was brought out there was a glob of butter on her steak. Both of these errors were corrected with immense apologies. The food otherwise was good or at least my shrimp and grits was delicious. My bil ordered the grilled seafood platter and it was good. The Mac cheese was not that good and it was cold. The grits on the side was good. The slaw was tasty. The oysters were overcooked and chewy--my sister ordered this. The oysters on my husbands fried platter were better than hers. The onion rings were hard as well. It's a busy place--Monday nights are all you can eat crab night for $49. I knew I could not eat $49 worth of crab legs. It was loud and busy. Fortunately my niece walked away unscathed. They did comp her meal 100%. Would I return--I might give it another try. It was our first time at the Claw House during Memorial Day weekend but it is a new favorite spot for our family. We went to celebrate my dad's belated birthday so we started out with the calamari appetizer and the corn/crab chowder. The chowder was a bit too spicy for me (but I don't like spice at all), my mom loved it. The calamari was a hit--my 5 year old ate more than anyone else. She'd never had it before but she loved it! She asked the server for a refill. My mom ordered salmon and it was perfectly cooked. The sauce was spectacular. My husband got the tuna poke tacos and they were so good. I tried a piece of the tuna and it was incredible. My dad got the crab tower, which has mangos in it and came with chips. I ordered the lobster roll. I love that sandwich! I've had lobster rolls before and it tops them all. The bread was a beautiful split top, the meat was tender and perfectly cooked. I would recommend! There are a ton of places to eat in Murrells Inlet, but The Claw House is my favorite. On top of the beautiful view, the food is fresh and flavorful, and the service is fun and friendly. My last visit I ordered pretzel bites, crab & shrimp Rangoon egg rolls, and a lobster roll. The pretzel bites were buttered and salted to perfection, and served with beer cheese. The egg rolls were stuffed with crab, shrimp, cream cheese, and scallions, and served with a sweet and tangy dipping sauce. The lobster roll was packed with meat and topped with melted butter. Every bite was spectacular! This is one of those places where the entire menu sounds amazing. There are a ton of other things I still have to try, so I'll definitely be back. We went with a group of 6 Wednesday night. We arrived at 7 and it was so busy, but the hostess said it would be around 20 min. I gave her my phone number to get the notification our table was ready. Just came back there today and it wasn't near as good as the first time I went which was disappointing! The calamari took forever to come out and when it did come out it tasted like it was cooked too long. It was rubbery and not much flavor this time. We sat outside and they had the dish cart out there right next to our table and would loudly put dishes in there. With a baby at our table trying to sleep, all the banging and clanging of the dishes wasn't appreciative. Seems like they could have been more considerate in general with making that much noise next to a table of people trying to enjoy their meal.
