I absolutely love Surfside and always make it a point to stop by when I'm in town. The restaurant is located right on the beach, offering beautiful views and the option to dine indoors or outside. I'll admit, I came for dinner on my first visit and wasn't overly impressed. The service was a bit slow, although the staff was very apologetic and friendly throughout the experience. That said, breakfast was a completely different story--and absolutely amazing! I ordered the crab cake Eggs Benedict, and I still think about it. The view from the back deck raises this went to a four star. The deck is pretty well covered so even when you get an afternoon storm it's a good spot to have a drink and watch the ocean. We had a small hiccup on the notification of our table being ready. When my daughter explained the situation after being told that we had to go to the back of the line for a table, someone told us that the next table that would accommodate us would be made available. That type of customer service will keep me coming back. We ordered 2 kids baskets, the fish tacos, a grilled combination with shrimp and flounder and a grilled combination with shrimp and scallops. This is not the place we had planned on eating but I'm so happy that we accidently stumbled upon this place. We were on LSVs and some of our party thought we could make it to Murrell's Inlet on them (LOLOL). When we finally realized that we could not, some of our party was getting HANGRY so we stopped at this fine establishment. There was a beautiful deck right on the ocean but since there was no wait to sit inside (see above hangry people!), that's were we sat, but there was still a lovely view. I must mention that we were a party of 10 so it was impressive that they seated us so quickly.) I got the shimp po boy and lobster bisque. It was very good. My husband and two of our British friends ordered the ribeye...it was huge, cooked perfectly and delicious. One of the Brits even told us that it was his favorite meal of his entire 10 day visit! First time stopping here for Breakfast, we've been here before for dinner. We were able to sit out on the deck, the weather was perfect and we had a great view of the the ocean. The service was excellent. Both of the breakfasts we chose were biscuits, very tasty only complaint was the biscuit needed to be 50% larger. The egg and bacon as well as the chicken on my wife's sandwich overhung the biscuit alot. Not going to downgrade the rating because of it but they should definitely make a bigger biscuit. I would have liked crispier home fries and an extra $1.50 for them was a little high but that's my preference. Overall experience was good read more

We have been here several times over the past decade. It's always nice to visit Conch Cafe, but you are paying for the view, and dinner is always crowded. The food is average, and there is a decent variety to the menu. I've enjoyed the salmon in the past, the soups are always good, and my husband loved the grilled oysters. The cocktails are priced fairly well for the area, and they have a good selection of draft beers. We actually prefer visiting Conch Cafe for lunch. Loved the location and outdoor seating. Our server, Tommy, was great. The food was mediocre. We called ahead to ask if they used fresh conch in the chowder and fritters and were told they do. They do not even have conch chowder on the menu. A few of the fritters had tiny pieces of obviously not fresh conch. She Crab Soup was a disappointment-a chunky sauce of minced I'm guessing crab meat and carrots with spices, no hint of roe, not the silky pink soup with chunks of blue crab I was expecting. The shrimp po-boy and chips were very good. Oyster po-boy and fries were enjoyed. Management did respond favorably to the one complaint we made. We would try it again for the location, atmosphere and staff but I would ask more questions before ordering. read more

Conch Cafe is a must-stop on our trips to the beach. Always have prompt, friendly service even when they are slammed. We love the grouper bites and bbq shrimp appetizers. The fish and chips is also one of our favorites. The fish is cooked perfectly and the fries always come out crispy and well seasoned. My absolute favorite restaurant near Surfside beach. Definitely recommend coming here. Claire is our waitress everytime and is really the best. Party of 3 and we were seated right away at an outside table. I had a garden salad as there isn't any vegetarian options on their menu. The garden salad is a bit pricey at $10.99 for just a basic mixed salad. The ingredients were fresh. Another person in my party had the bowl du jour, and I believe the soup of the day was a bisque crab. No pieces of crab in it, she said the flavor was good but again price at $8.99 a bowl. The third person in my party had the grill mahi sandwich with chips. Now, the price for this lunch selection wasn't bad coming in at $13.99 and they said the fish was good, and the chips were crispy and done just right. The alcoholic drinks are priced moderately if comparing to other places around the cafe. One thing to watch out for at this place, which I didn't see until we got back home from our trip. The receipt states that 3.50% will be deducted from the checks paid in cash. We paid with credit card, and there is a 3.5% tax charge on the bill if you are using credit card. I should have looked at the receipt more closely and then I would have been paid with cash. The service was good, the food decent for a busy tourist trap, the prices are a little bit more than other places...I would give it a 4 for those. However, I do believe that if a restaurant is going to accept credit cards, then that restaurant should NOT charge the processing fee onto the customer. read more

We selected this gem on the whim last night while walking the strip. The view + breeze were the perfect way to end a long day. The customer service was great. I walked in with a party of 4 around 8 pm, and they seated us without any issues. Our waitress had extremely patience with us and never rushed us even though it was near closing time. I kept it simple and ordered a flounder po' boy sandwich with fries. It was so fresh and not overly seasoned. The portion size was perfect for me. Unfortunately, the drink wasn't the best. I ordered the Titos on the beach, and it was weak and full of ice. My friend ordered the Cucumber drink, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. My other friend ordered a salad with seafood, and it was delicious and fresh. You would think they went out to the ocean, caught the crab & shrimp just for her.    I enjoyed everything about our visit last night. It did not disappoint and the prices were reasonable. I haven't had the pleasure of dining here for several years. It was a favorite (special) restaurant for my husband and me. Hubby died 9 years ago and I have not been back since. The food was always 5+ stsar and the chef was always ready to accommodate my order. Here I was introduced to Etouffe and he would prepare it for me even if was not a menu choice.
