Dead Dog Saloon is an easy 5-star experience! From the moment we arrived, Kyle provided incredible service and made us feel welcome. The food was outstanding, and the atmosphere is unlike anywhere else. The walls are filled with photos and memories of dogs that have visited over the years, giving the restaurant a unique and heartfelt charm. The outdoor deck overlooking the water, combined with the live band, created the perfect setting for a relaxing evening. Whether you're planning a date night, bringing the family, or just looking for great food with an amazing view, Dead Dog Saloon delivers. We'll definitely be back! read more

Being from the Inlet, I grew up going to Dead Dog for as long as I can remember. However, the last two times I've been have been unbelievably bad. I went Saturday (9/26/26) for lunch and ordered two blackened shrimp baskets. The baskets were $23 each for maybe 10 small, extremely bland shrimp and a handful of tots. There are rumors around town that the Saloon has been sold to new franchise owners. I would highly recommend going somewhere else on the Inlet if you're looking for a meal worth the price. And if the rumors are true somewhere locally owned. I'm only writing this review because this has always been such a good spot, and I really hope they fix these issues. read more

Dead Dog was a lot of fun! In particular, I loved their piña coladas and hush puppies, as well as the wooden deck that overlooked the inlet and marsh. I loved the TV setup as well, as it had plenty of TVs to watch football games and other events on. Finally, they had a great live band, which was fun to watch and added a lot to the overall ambiance. The one downside was that our waitress did not seem to be in a very good mood. She wasn't rude per se, but she was not happy, and it was very easy to tell. Other than that, Dead Dog was a great experience, and one that I'd highly recommend! read more

Ate here twice actually. The first time, earlier around lunch, I ordered the crab nachos. They were delicious! The second time, later that same day, I ordered (upon the recommendation by their awesome employees Sam and Erin) their "Surf and Turf Tacos". They consisted of grilled chipotle-seasoned shrimp & marinated beef tenderloin topped with mango salsa. This was most definitely a Winner!! There's plenty of both inside and outside seating at this Murrell's Inlet waterside establishment. We were outside (which is actually all covered) at the bar which provides great views of the water. Oh yeah, and as one passes through the inside dining on the way to the outdoor bar, be sure to glance to the walls on your right that are covered with dog pictures and photos. Nice! The staff are friendly and helpful. Sam and Erin were working their buttooskies off getting drinks and orders for everyone at the bar and still had time to occasionally stop and chat with the patrons at the bar. Prices are very reasonable, the atmosphere is laidback and friendly, and the food is great! I highly recommend you check them out. In my future bike travels, if I ever return to the Myrtle Beach area, I'm making this a must visit! read more

The free hush puppies were a nice and delicious surprise. I had the prime rib sandwich. It was delicious! The horseradish sauce over the prime rib with crispy onions with a soft roll- so tender. My friend got their hamburger and it looked good too. They offer tater tots for a side! Got a kick out of the restrooms- setters or pointers. Hilarious!! Staff friendly- all that passed our table made sure we were doing good. We sat outside in the covered area and there was a perfect cooling breeze. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect day to enjoy their patio. read more

Dined at Dead Dog for the Fourth of July. No wait at 4:30, great food, great service. Ordered shrimp tacos, kids meals, Queens Platter, Chili queso dogs and a Smokey pig. All cooked to perfection. There's a stage for a band but they hadn't played yet, not until evening. Right on the inlet facing the water and marsh walk. Absolutely beautiful. read more

If you're anywhere near Murrells Inlet, Dead Dog Saloon is a must-visit! The ribs were absolutely incredible--so huge they were literally hanging off the pan they were served on! Also with extra rib sauce on the side. They were tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. The mac and cheese was rich and creamy, and the fries were hot, crispy, and delicious. Before our meal, they brought out warm hush puppies with what I believe was honey butter, and they were so good they disappeared in no time! The atmosphere is fun, welcoming, and family-friendly, and the live music made the whole experience even better. It's easy to see why Dead Dog Saloon has been featured on the Travel Channel and in Southern Living Magazine. Great food, generous portions, excellent service, and an awesome waterfront atmosphere make this a place we'll definitely be coming back to. Highly recommend! read more

I always get so excited when I know we are going to Dead Dog. We sat at the bar as usual and ordered cocktails. A cosmopolitan for me and something for him. We started and shared the boo boo bites. These are always delicious. Then I ordered a cup of chili and he ordered the egg rolls. My chili was good but I don't remember it being so spicy. No room for dessert. If you see me there, stop by and say hello. read more

Scenic. A great spot on the inlet. All the ideal menu items for this type of saloon on the water. I loved my crab cakes and French Onion soup. Others had blackened fish sandwiches, fish tacos, and shrimp and grits. All good. There for a cold spell in November. Back patio was sunny, warm and buzzing at lunch. Fantastic restaurant, a definite must visit! This restaurant is covered with pictures of dogs that have passed away in a celebration of life and the general companionship of our furry friends. It reminded me a lot of a Día De Los Muertos style of remembrance. You might think this would make for a sad ambiance, but it was actually very inviting! Decorations of cute dogs on the windows, hanging lights, and cartoon style tabletops. The live music was very good too! The food was great. Complementary hush puppies were seasoned well accompanied by a delicious honey butter. The fried fish and shrimp were tender, crispy, and salted perfectly. No tails or veins on the shrimps. The chicken wings were decent, a bit dry, and sides were nothing too special. Certainly not worth paying a la carte prices for, but they did come with the meals. I was absolutely astounded by how fast the food came out considering the entire place was packed. There were so many employees working that the service was still excellent. The ambiance, location right on the docks, great seafood, bars, and live music make this a must for any families or people looking for a popular place to grab a drink and watch sports read more

We've been coming to this area for more than 20 years, had family homes in the area, so we've had an opportunity to try many places over the years, but today was the first time we tried Dead Dog Saloon. Let's try the good first. We arrived and we're seated immediately, but was also arrived just before 5pm, and it was already packed. Not surprised as it is the peak of the summer season. Our server was pleasant and attentive, and in my opinion, that was pretty much the extent of the " good". The "OK". - the food was just that, ok. The cobia had no real seasoning on it, if it weren't for the butter sauce, it would have had zero flavor. The fries are obviously from frozen and cooked until very crispy, almost hard. The mac and cheese sampled from my wife's plate also tasted like a mass produced, frozen deal. She said the scallops were good, and the shrimp I sampled were decent. My son enjoyed his fish and fries, but he's 6. The "bad"...since I'm using those words. It's loud, and got louder around 5:45. No surprise though, it's called a saloon and the reviews clearly say it's loud. Be prepared. Parking. I guess if you can find a spot on site, you're good, but the pay lots across the street are $20 for 2 hours...the least you can get. And again, something I failed to read, researcher whatever, but the pictures of all the 4 legged friends that have crossed the rainbow bridge that adorn the walls, it was, to me, a bit of a buzz kill. I quite frankly never realized it's concept was to honor actual dead dogs. My bad. We've been, and I honestly don't expect well go back, at least not for a while. I'll give it another shot, but in an area like this, there are always new places to try, ones that have been open for 30 years, and ones that have been open for 30 days. It's important to make a good first impression to generate return business. read more

Always love it here. Good food, big portions and good service also. Our server Austin was great. Love the free hushpuppies. Drinks are pretty good and you can't beat being on the water. Always a fun time with a nice atmosphere inside & out. read more

Parking is tight, we had to park across the street. The space is big with options for seating inside, on the covered porch, or outside. Good looking restaurant and clean. Inside you see the photo walls of the place's name sake, dead dogs. A little sad and a nice tribute to loved ones who have died. The service was solid and started with a basket of hush puppies and cinnamon honey butter. A nice start. The food was okay, came out in a good amount of time, and had a good presentation. The restaurant is on the boardwalk out to the marsh, so it would be a good place to go and then take a nice walk afterwards. read more

Date night on the Marsh Walk with delicious fried green tomato appetizer (with goat cheese and Thai chili sauce), and the 3 seafood entree. Good service on a busy, football Saturday night. Meh at best. I've eaten here many times...this was the worst meal by far. Ordered pulled pork. Tough. Little meat. All fat. Dipping sauces were good. Onion rings might've been good, but arrived cold. Slaw was good. Service was fine. Left disappointed. read more

Chose to go here because of the good reviews. Was traveling with a dog, and using the "dog friendly" filter on yelp. Once we arrived, we were turned away because only service dogs are allowed. That's fine... but please adjust your features because I think "dogs allowed" implies all dogs. No live dogs saloon lol. read more

The strength of this restaurant is the quality of food across the entire menu. The staff is great despite frequently seeing new faces. They don't simply rely on a great view, they back it up with great food. read more

Was very surprised by all the dead dogs on the wall, but probably should not have been. My wife really enjoyed the goat Island sunrise drink. The fish tender bites were good with the tartar sauce was not so much. The tender bites were very, very disappointing. Some overcooked and tough "filet" over some oversize toast. The crabcake sandwich was disappointing as it was the very small side of over. Seasoned cold fries. The Caesar salad was good, however. The service from Zac was outstanding. And it was a bit chaotic, but with the live band playing it was a pretty good atmosphere. read more

When here win a Sunday night with my husband & 4 kids. We were sat immediately (at 5:30), service was good, live music started at 7 but we left by 6:40. The food was good. I got the shrimp & grits since multiple people in reviews mentioned it was the best they ever had. I thought it was good but definitely not the best I've ever had. My husband got the shrimp tacos & they were good as well. Kids meals came on a frisbee as the plate so you got to keep it. Our bill was about $115 after tip so not a bad price compared to other places we went while there for vacation. read more

Always have great service here, good food and usually a band playing that always has a great show! Definitely a must on the Marshwalk!

If you're heading down to Dead Dog Saloon in Murrels Inlet, don't let the modest exterior fool you--what's waiting inside (and outside) is a laid-back coastal experience that's hard to beat. We chose the outdoor seating, and it was absolutely worth it. Overlooking the inlet, we enjoyed a peaceful view of small boats drifting by--one of those simple moments that makes a meal feel like a mini getaway. I went with the crab cake sandwich and fries, while Helen ordered the Cuban with tater tots. As someone from Virginia, I'm usually cautious with crab cakes--too often they're all filler and no flavor--but this one was refreshingly light, packed with crab, and genuinely delicious. One of the best surprises? The hush puppies. We had heard great things but didn't see them on the menu--turns out, they bring them out complimentary when you're seated. And yes, they absolutely live up to the hype. The staff added to the experience with their friendly, welcoming attitude, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. There are plenty of places we still want to try in the area, but this one has already earned a return visit. read more

Meh. It's a nice location and a good menu. The service was great. But the food was just meh. The quarter chicken was bland. The prime rib sandwich was super salty. The Cuban sandwich was fine. This is a return visit. We went twice last year bc we had a gift card. However, the wife liked it so much that she wanted to go back again this year...which is a big deal for us bc we usually try to stick to new places...always wanna try something new. Parking can be tricky if you go when it is busy. There is a small lot right by the restaurant and then an overflow lot across the street (Warning: this lot floods very quickly and easily when it rains. Huge puddles form and make it even harder to find a spot and to drive/walk through the lot.) Upon entering, you'll notice lots of photographs...literal pictures of peoples' dead dogs. IMO, a little weird...but that's neither here nor there. The food has always been good. Wife loves the pulled pork...but especially the mashed potatoes that come with it. Delish! This time I tried the Crabby Cale sandwich. Good choice. However, the real MVP is always the complimentary hush puppies that come as an appetizer. Dipped in some of the honey butter...OMG! Service has always been great too! This time, our server, Julia, was amazing. Incredibly helpful, sweet, and polite. She stayed on top of everything and did it with grace and a smile. Kudos to Julia! We will probably see you again next year DDS! read more

Love this place! Never disappoints. My favorites are the crab wonton nachos and the shrimp tacos, but you really can't go wrong.

Dead Dog Saloon is a great stop in Murrells Inlet! You can't beat the waterfront views and relaxed coastal vibe. What we were curious about was the name. Floor to ceiling are framed photos of dogs who have crossed the rainbow bridge with names and dates written on frames. As sad as that may sound, it is done in an endearing way and patrons can add photos apparently. There was even a pin board in the restroom that some photos were pinned on. The food was fresh and flavorful, and the portions were generous including a big basket of hush puppies with butter. Some of the best I've had. Their signature Cuban was very good with a little kick. Excellent sweet potato fries and the kids meals of noodles was a huge plate and the fried clams and French fries ample portion. They have some booth style tables that can fit a party of 6-8 and a separate bar area with tables that is waterfront. T-shirts and merch are available for purchase as well. Highly recommend whether you're visiting or local! read more

Came here for lunch on a Tuesday and had no problem getting a table for 2. Although it might sound a little morbid, the atmosphere is endearing in a weird way with people that bring photos of their dead dogs and they hang them on the wall in memory. The place has indoor, outdoor, and covered outdoor seating options, we decided to go for the covered outdoor. You get plenty of great views of the Riverwalk just outside, and can go on a nice stroll after you've stuffed yourself with some BBQ. Staff was attentive and quick to take care of anything we needed. We started with an order of hush puppies which comes with an amazing honey butter to spread on, I was in heaven and could have just had that for lunch (I also recommend dipping in BBQ sauce too, don't knock it till you try it). We then did their BBQ meat platters with pork, chicken and brisket with Mac and cheese, tater tots, sweet potato fries, and grilled veggies for our sides. The sauces really make the meats here, would have liked a little bit more flavor on their own, but the meat was at least still juicy and they give you plenty of it! Best side was definitely the mac and cheese. Parking right in front can be a little tight, so you might need to use the larger lot across the street when it gets really busy. read more

OBSESSED!! This was indeed our favorite of the entire trip! So many places to choose from in that whole strip & we ended up here. We don't regret it at all!
