The Ahi Tuna was excellent! The side of risotto tasted like it was made the day before, left on the counter and reheated a hour before being served. Well we just found a new favorite place for a really nice night out. First of all the decor is lovely and the tables are NOT crowded. I have the Ahi peppercorn tuna and it was cooked perfectly. I ordered it rear. Huge piece of tuna and very tender and flavorful. The Garlic Mashed and Snap peas were also delicious. It also came with a salad and I recommend the house dressing. My guy had the GIANT cut of prime rib. He ordered an end cut medium and it was perfect. To end the night we split a piece of chocolate pecan pie. It is made in house and came out warm and very delicious. It is rich so split it for sure. They have fish specials each night and I think I'll try the Grouper next time. A local recommended we try this restaurant and get the Lobster bites. The decor was a show stopper! It had a fun diner meets mafia nightclub feel, I'm not quite sure how to describe it. Lots of shiny black and it was so clean. We ordered the filet minion and lobster bites. The steak also came with new potatoes and sugar snap peas. The fork tender steak was a perfect medium and had a light seasoning. The lobster bites are one inch pieces that have a very light breading. They were delicious and the lobster flavor still shined through. I personally was disappointed with the potato's and sugar snap peas. They seemed to be boiled with no seasoning. Guess I always thought Flamingo Grill was more like a diner. Went with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. This is a really nice restaurant with great food. I got the Delmonico steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The steak lacked seasoning and broccoli was bland. The mashed potatoes on the other hand were tasty. Others in our party got the chicken. Another example of one of the many Myrtle Beach restaurants that serve mediocre food at a premium price. My wife and I stopped in for dinner. She ordered the fried fish, which she liked but I found not very appealing. The batter was lacking and it was not a very good portion size. I had the prime rib. It was meh. It was cooked right but I found the seasoning to be quite dull. But the most insulting part of the meal was my upgraded side of asparagus. When it arrived, there were 3. Yes 3 measly lit spears with very poorly made béarnaise sauce. I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked down and saw what they felt was a proper portion. I was thinking about how many times we have eaten here over the years. At least twice on our summer beach vacations. The restaurant was recommended to us by the owners of the very missed Rossi's. We have never had a bad meal here. First, thanks to Kristen for excellent service in spite of her very busy section. Food, as always, was excellent. Lobster bites and lemon pepper shrimp were a great start. I had one of the catch of the day specials, grouper with scallops. Well prepared and delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Let me start by saying our waiter Max was amazing ! Everything timed to perfection and that made for such an enjoyable evening ! We were with a party of 12 and we all ate at the same time ! That in itself is great ! My husband had the she crab soup and loved it, I had the Greek calamari and it was perfection ! This was a huge order and I shared it with the table ! The food was as good as it looks, especially the shrimp and grits but the service was so slow and it was so hot in there that it kind of ruined our experience. Excellent local restaurant! Our server, Liam, was extremely attentive to my husband and myself. I had the fried shrimp and there were a dozen of biggest, freshest shrimp I have had in M Beach. Batter was very light. My husband had blackened salmon and thought it was also very good. Meals came with crisp and fresh salads and two sides. All were good! I really like the 50's decor. I have been at this establishment numerous times with friends and we absolutely love it! From the outside the location does not seem that large or welcoming. Once inside the space opens up to show an interesting mix of decor with motorcycles, posters, and cardboard cutouts (love the Jessica Rabbit one) and nicely organized seating. Every waiter we've ever had is friendly, consistent, and provides top service. I always start my meal off with the she crab soup. It's creamy, has a great zesty herb seasoning, chunky pieces of crab meat, and I highly recommend dipping the garlic bread served on the side into it for an additional savory texture. I have had the scallop pasta numerous times, it's sauce is light, flavorful, and the vegetables add a nice density alongside the super thick fresh scallops. The prime rib sandwich is my personal favorite item in their menu. The meat was super tender and flavorful. The bread was warm and the vegetables fresh. When you add the au jus your tastebuds just go into overload. The fries were great too. My favorite sandwich in Myrtle Beach for sure. I highly recommend visiting this location if you're in the Myrtle Beach area. It's located right down nearby the Polynesian Fire luau at the St.John's Inn. The service was good. We had a pleasant and professional waiter. The young ladies greeted us as we came in and left. The decor is really cool. The presentation wasn't impressive. The food could have been better but it wasn't bad. The sauce was good but the meal should be able to stand independently. The waiter and the manager asked if we liked our food. I was honest about it. In fact, the waiter asked the questions after I had 2 or 3 bits. I told him the fish was nice and flaky but lacked seasoning. The garlic bread seemed a bit stale. It was our first meal on our vacation. While I've provided you with both good and bad points, I don't think it'll hurt you to check them out. It may be good. I was on vacation with my son and we decided to go here because it was "voted best restaurant by locals". We go there and it is a pleasant atmosphere and the server was friendly as well. We asked how much the lobster tail was (listed as MP). She said $35. I asked if they came from Maine or somewhere else. She said she didn't know exactly, but they were "freshwater lobster". These creatures do not exist as far as I know. They are a species of crayfish. Bleh. If you put it on your menu, then tell customers exactly what it is. We ordered an appetizer and our entrees. The appetizer (lobster bites, which my son really wanted to try) came out and it was OK - a bit bland actually. However, at this point I just looked past it as far as the "truthiness" of it goes. Then came the salads. I give them credit for not using iceberg lettuce. The cherry tomatoes, however, were hard and lacking flavor. We had been eating our salads for less than two minutes and they brought our entrees out (prime rib w/ added on "crab" cake for me and grilled shrimp for my son). I have worked in many restaurants and this is a big pet-peeve of mine, but do NOT bring out the next course before the current course is finished. I was obviously not happy and I expressed it, politely. The two people standing with our entrees (one of whom I found out later was the manager because I asked to see him after the server brought the check - more on that in a bit) said, basically, "Sorry for this" but still insisted on putting them down in front of us. Any decent manager would have taken them back and let us finish our salads, then brought out fresh entrees. But no, they put them down in front of us and made us feel like we were being forced out the door. The server did say it was "her fault" because, according to her, apparently the shrimp order usually takes a long time to come out. This is ridiculous as anyone who has cooked shrimp knows it takes very little time to cook shrimp. I believe she just put our order in all at the same time (no problem with that if the timing is good) and the kitchen put it out as fast as they could to get the ticket done. My son's grilled shrimp looked good and he liked them. The prime rib was OK, but a bit pricy for the quality and size. I had added on a crab cake because I was dying for some seafood at the ocean. I could neither see nor taste crab. Definitely not lump crab. Just mushy filling, with no texture. I was so fed up at this point I just asked for the check. When it came my son's shrimp entree came in at $4 more than what was on the menu and my order was $1 more than the menu. I'm not cheap enough to care about $5, but I do care about being charged what is the listed price, especially after such a bad experience. I asked the server to bring the manager, who happened to be one of the people who brought the entrees. I asked him about the prices and he said, "I see you and your son ordered the asparagus. That's an up-charge." I asked where that was listed on the menu. He said it wasn't, and the server should have mentioned it. She hadn't. The cost for my meal didn't reflect the fact that I had also ordered the asparagus (which was boringly steamed/boiled without any seasoning), yet again reflecting the incompetence of the place. I never did find out why my meal was priced the way it was. The manager did comp our bill at 50% but I really wish they had just done the right thing at the start and let us enjoy the meal as best we could by taking the entrees back and letting us enjoy our meals, as bland as they may have been. I have worked in many restaurants and one of the best managers I've ever had said everyone makes mistakes, but you never know how good a restaurant is until they show how they handle the mistakes. This place did not handle their mistakes well. I have no doubt that if you go there you may have a better experience. But for me, I won't be going back again. read more

There are many restaurants to choose from in this part of Myrtle Beach and since we had never been into the Flamingo bar and grill we decided to ck it out. It has a nice exterior w "Flamingo" in neon letters beckoning to us from across the street where we were playing Putt Putt at Jungle Safari. Upon going through 2 sets of glass doors at the entrance we arrived at the reception/reservation table where we were greeted and was able to be seated without needing to wait. The place is huge and has an open floorplan so keep that in mind if you are having a large party or don't want to have a long wait to endure at other restaurants. They also have a generous amount of seating at the bar area as well if you are just looking for a leisurely drink. We were promptly seated and the waitress was able to take our drink and appetizer orders quickly. She was such a good will ambassador representing this restaurant, a perfectly charming, smiling, happy and efficient waitress. Easily one of the best waitstaff I've come across in quite a long time. Our drinks and food came out quickly and we were happy w our selections. The appetizers were good although my lobster bites had a bit too much breading that l found over powered the lobster's delicate taste. I ordered grilled snapper and it was perfectly cooked and was a thick filet accompanied by 4 large asparagus spears, 2 oiled red potatoes and a side of bernaise sauce. All good and deceptively filling but the presentation was very minimalist. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the owner came out to meet us and to see if everything was satisfactory, a nice touch. My wife and I had not been to Myrtle Beach in about 10 years and decided to try Flamingo Grill again. The place was busy and the food was great. My wife had the she crab soup and really enjoyed it. I had the chicken piccata and it was awesome. Our server took great care of us and we even got to see one of the owners.
