    Southern dip
    Lynne A.

Came with my corvette club to the gardens and stopped in here for lunch. They were super busy, but seated us in 5 minutes. I had the southern dip. It was plentiful and fried super yummy. Two of my friends only had carrot cake and key lime pie. Josh was our waiter and was awesome! Iced tea was nice and strong and plenty of refills. Food came out pretty quick for as busy ad they were. You can dine in or outdoors, we chose in as it was hella hot and humid today. Would come again.

Excellent food, from the appetizers (hushpuppies, fried green tomatoes, angry mac & cheese w shrimp) to the entrees (chicken penne pasta, shrimp, etc). Excellent service. Great atmosphere and view outside. Perfect.

i love the way it feels inside with all the windows. Great ambiance. The service was spot on. The food was good and the carrot cake was amazing!

    Ceaser salad fantastic

The food was excellent! Both cobb and ceaser salads were excellent! Kids loved their burgers. Their chips and fried okra were great! The outdoor patio in rain is so romantic. Server on one table was very attentive but the other one was not. Overall great choice.

Fried jumbo shrimp with peach Cole slaw and fries

First of all we were greeted with a welcoming smile and a pleasant southern greeting. Secondly, the weather was as in our favor for outdoor dining. We found the perfect seat and within a few minutes our waitress greeted us with a welcoming and friendly personality. Since we were first time visitors we solicited her advice on food choices. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and freely offered thoughts on food choices which helped us make our selections. I ordered the fried grouper sandwich with fries and my guest ordered jumbo fried shrimp with fries and peach slaw. Both our meals were so delicious. It was my first time trying grouper fish and I was impressed. The jumbo shrimp was fried perfectly and was crunchy and juicy. To add to our great meal, the ambiance was superb. The restaurant sits at the edge of the garden and offers a relaxing atmosphere with beautiful plants and draping live oak allee trees. An added attraction was the intimacy of the squirrels and cardinals dropping in to eat with us.

Reservations were booked but we walked in and they were able to seat us. Very lucky considering it was a light night at the Brookgreen Gardens. Food and service was great!

Dine in | Lunch | $20-30 Beautiful setting but this restaurant definitely lacks creativity. The menu and food could definitely be better thought out and executed. Service is almost consistently awful. My family and I have been here on several occasions as there isn't much of a choice at Brookgreen if you plan on staying in the park. EVERY time, we are rushed out and made to feel uncomfortable. We feel as if we are bothering the staff by requesting to sit and eat. Y'all, we have three children and they sat us, got our order, shared an appetizer, had our entrees and they grabbed our plates back all within 30 MINUTES!! We had our last experience with Cece as our server. She demanded our order before our butts hit the seat! This last experience made me regret coming to Brookgreen at all! She told us they ran out of the dessert that was the special for the day and as we left we saw another table getting that dessert brought to their table. Also, before we could even get up from the table , we were swarmed by 4 or 5 people clearing the table. !!! It was madness. Y'all, my girls were very well behaved! I really wish they consider reevaluating their staff's service etiquette as this place ruins the beautiful experience Brookgreen could be.

Turkey sandwich with with cranberry mayo and smoked gouda. And hushpuppies. Really good hushpuppies.

A lovely day in a beautiful spot with delicious food. Super combination. We had made reservations and were promptly seated. Our server, Sarah, was charming and helpful. Our group ordered salads and sandwiches, fried oysters and fried green tomatoes and thoroughly enjoyed them. I HAD to have the Hushpuppies and omg they were the best: great flavor; correct doneness and had corn niblets in the batter! My sandwich was turkey, lettuce, and smoked gouda with cranberry mayonnaise and it was excellent. We ate outside under the patio awning-perfect. There was a cardinal that would actually light on the chairs waiting for a morsel. Wonderful blend of dining and nature. The prices were reasonable and portions were large!

If you go in the front door there are a few steps to climb. If you need flat entrances they are around back. The host took us to our seats and explained the buffet to us. It is only a buffet place. But you can order a take out as well. There were two tables of food and a dessert table. The salad bar seemed to never end. Everything was cut fresh with no limp vegetables or lettuce. Marilyn brought me coffee and Bev Tea. It was plenty hot and fresh. I absolutely love their coffee. I had two cups before I even finished my plate of food. Marilyn was very attentive to each table and came to ours often. After I finished my salad. I saw Carie filling a plate for someone. When she was done I asked her if she could get me a chicken breast. My joint pain and back pain had been extreme this week. Using the walker was even painful. Carie said, "Absolutely !" She returned quickly and with a smile. The staff is so kind. The manager Tommy came by our table to see how we were enjoying our meal. I let him know the salad bar was perfect. The chicken I enjoyed was tender and juicy. I also noticed the teamwork between the staff was easy and natural like a choreographed dance. Bev and I plan to return for the Easter Sunday Meal. Check this pace out and tell them Willie and Bev sent you. Ms. Willie Conway.

The peel and eat shrimp was the reason we returned. Instead of the typical boiled flavor you find at most places, this tasted almost broiled, giving it a richer flavor that immediately stood out. It was absolutely phenomenal and easily the star of the meal. On our first visit, my boyfriend had the fish and chips and I ordered the catch of the day sandwich, both very good and well prepared. The view is beautiful, there is shaded outdoor seating, and the service was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Because we enjoyed it so much, we came back again and started with the peel and eat shrimp once more. We also shared the wedge salad, which we had ordered the first time as well. It was fresh, crisp, and the blue cheese was excellent. We added the oysters Rockefeller and the tuna pizza, both packed with flavor and perfectly prepared. To finish, we ordered two sushi rolls, and once again everything was balanced and thoughtfully done. The flavors complemented each other beautifully. Every dish felt carefully prepared, and the overall experience was memorable from start to finish. We were extremely happy with both visits and will absolutely return next year.

AMBIANCE = 3 The environment was nice. Good amount of open space. Outside deck seating. Nice bar area. 2. FOOD/DRIINKS = 2 We had clamira, wedge salad, Seafood plates. One beer IPA. The veggie selection was not appetizing in appearance. The fish selection was good but nothing special. The 2 was the result of the veggie selection looked burnt overcooked. If this had not been the case it would have been a 3. Next time I would request to have it returned and do without. Mash potatoes were good. 3. SERVICE = 5 Our waitress was attentive and engaging. The food came quickly and was a good temperature. 4. BATHROOM = 3 Clean and maintained. 5. PRICING = 2 The appetizer $16. Salad $16. Meals $42. Beer 20oz $11. Tax is 10%. Plus tip. $169 for 2 people. I would recommend to drop appetizer by $4 and wedge salad to $12. Beer how can a 20oz cost $11.00 for Sweetwater 420. With the push to get wait staff to $15 per hour. Someplace has to give and it will come in the tip area. So think of this it 10% for taxes and 20% for tip. I do not tip on full bill. Only food and beverage without taxes. That is a lift to see 30% for a couple of hour dining experience. If more alcohol from wine to mix drink it would be expensive. 6. OBSERVATION With some Does not meet expectations for food and price. The environment ok. I think at least for the team that took care of us made a difference. I would probably not choose to eat here again as there are a number of options in the area to choose from. The parking was good. Need to get your parking pass signed off by resteraunt. It is free. If not the parking value is $30.00. 7. I went with the crab cake sandwich and fries, while Helen ordered the Cuban with tater tots. As someone from Virginia, I'm usually cautious with crab cakes--too often they're all filler and no flavor--but this one was refreshingly light, packed with crab, and genuinely delicious. One of the best surprises? The hush puppies. We had heard great things but didn't see them on the menu--turns out, they bring them out complimentary when you're seated. And yes, they absolutely live up to the hype. The staff added to the experience with their friendly, welcoming attitude, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. There are plenty of places we still want to try in the area, but this one has already earned a return visit.
