15 years ago, we considered Gulfstream our favorite restaurant in the South Strand. Sadly, they are definitely not what they used to be. The last few times we've been, it has been disappointing. We've also recommended it to guests and they were not impressed. The food is only so-so now. For example, I had the salmon a couple of days ago and it was "fishy". The competition is high so you have to be on your game here. The ambiance is strange now too. This is a nice place, dimly-lit with great views and the music is not what you'd expect. They play classic rock too loudly on a system that sounds awful. It kind of wrecks the vibe. I like classic rock but not here. You'd expect something much more classy and quiet. This place came by a recommendation of our neighbor at home. We rode the sunset cruise from the marshwalk and needed a late dinner option. It was pretty inside with the lights and decor along the water. We even so the fishing boat next door unloading the catch. We had the hushpuppies and she crab soup to share as an appetizer. I'm going to give them a pass on our Mother's Day meals. Of course they were crazy busy and from the looks of the amount of customers waiting they were also overwhelmed. The hostess Michelle gets our vote for employee of the day. She checked in customers, ran up and down the stairs looking for prior check ins, ran around to find silverware and unused chairs to reconfigure tables, set the tables, seated the hangry people and smiled to check in the next people in line. Our server Jessica was equally amazing. She worked the brunch and had been there since 8am, it's now 6pm. She was pleasant, professional, and checked in on us often. Our table ordered the Strip Steak which was over cooked and tough, the Salmon with mushrooms was delicious, and the Grouper francais was ok. We kept the steak and decided to not complain knowing the kitchen was working very hard to get food out. The iced tea is so good! We made a reservation at Gulf Stream for our anniversary dinner in October 2024. We were seated outdoors which was great because the weather was perfect. We were able to watch the sun setting and see the party boats sailing in the distance: This created such a beautiful ambiance. Although that was great, the light above our table was out so our setting was rather dark after the sun set and there weren't any candles or anything offered to enhance the atmosphere. It took a while for our food to come and we couldn't understand why because the tables around us were not having that issue. When the food came it was just okay. I was expecting it to be piping hot and extremely delicious for the wait time and it just wasn't. It was just okay good. My husband had the shrimp and grits and I had crab cakes. The portions were normal sized but we were not stuffed when we left and didn't leave with leftovers. I would give them another try when visiting the area again but my expectations for them to improve are high. read more

We were greeted quickly and the waitress brought fresh bread and butter. We ordered mixed drinks which were not great, honestly very little flavor and no craft to it. We also ordered the filet and shrimp- cooked amazing and the strip steak which was also flavorful. The tossed salad was a nice touch with almonds, bacon and what tastes like homemade dressing. The food was just average with the exception of the thick candied bacon which was to die for and the chocolate cake. I tried a few of my family's entrees including the filet mignon and swordfish and thought they were dry and bland. I ordered the fried oyster and scallops which came with a house salad, 2 hush puppies, and the choice of one side. The scallops were so tiny, I couldn't really taste anything. The hush puppies were below average. I've had hush puppies and these were bland in comparison. My creamed spinach which I selected as my side was the best out of all the items for my entree. My entree was on the early bird dinner menu. Also, my Coke watered down and flat. It tasted bad so I swapped it out for lemonade. Our server was great, but my dinner was mediocre at best. Had the opportunity to spend a great sunset evening overlooking the Inlet with my beautiful wife. (Reservations recommended) We arrived at 6:45 pm and were promptly taken to our table. Give yourself 15 minutes to find parking if you're not successful finding one close by, park at one of the public access beach area areas and call the staff for a pick with their golf cart. Have eaten there several times over the last 25 years. The views are very pretty, especially at sunset. While the food has always been pretty good, the parking situation is horrendous. We had reservations and arrived no less than 30 minutes ahead of time to give us time to peruse the marina and just look at our old boat slips before heading to the restaurant. We. Oils not find a parking spot. We looped around the ENTIRE time waiting for spot and while a couple opened up, we were on the other side of the lot and new cars pulled in and took the spot before we could drive over there. It was extremely frustrating. No parking is allowed on the road and near all the condos either. We had ZERO options. And when I say we were there looking for slots for about 30 minutes, that is no exaggeration It got so frustrating, we called to cancel the reservation bc we couldn't even park to enjoy our dinner!! You need help managing the parking lot. When people have reservations, there needs to be a way to reserve parking spots too. Or even have a shuttle service to an off-premise spot. Needless to say, not planning on going there again any time soon. read more

Beautiful location on the canal, for a front row seat to the sunset. We had a slight issue with seating and the manager was quick to fix it and was very understanding. Our server was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The food was amazing! It took awhile to come out, but was well worth the wait. Everyone was happy, which means a lot in my family. We have 2 teenage daughters and IFYKYK. We all ordered something different. Tuna was perfectly rare (as it should be), salmon was cooked to perfection, steak was a nice cut, and the crab cakes were more crab than filling. Our youngest boys loved the corn dog and fries hahaha. The server was highly professional and very nice when we spilled water. We visited back in May, and were a little disappointed. We have been visiting since 2007 each year on our family's vacation. At the beginning of the reservation, the server came up and greeted us. He told us he needed to apologize in advance because he was exhausted after helping someone move all day long. The smell of cigarettes (coming off of him) was overwhelming and a bit unappetizing in our personal opinion. We decided the candied bacon would be a great appetizer, and once we ordered it... the server came back to correct us to say that it's "Cajun bacon" and not candied. Confused we just said "alright, then we would like the Cajun bacon then" lol. The bacon came out and it was not spicy or Cajun at all. We are still confused about that interaction. He did bring out the kids plates first which as a parent you can always appreciate. Then our main entree came out... "blackened shrimp Alfredo" and it was so soupy. Almost the consistency of milk. The sauce did not stay on the noodles at all once the noodles were on the fork. We are sure the recipe had to have changed in the past years. We left pretty hungry and disappointed.
