We have passed this restaurant many times during our visits to Pawleys Island but never stopped in. This time we did, and what a treat. The outside is deceiving. The decor is eclectic, tasteful, and beautiful. You can dine at the high top or private table. The cocktails and entrees were delicious. The only negative was the menu. We came in for a special occasion, expecting a high-end experience -- but what we got was a way overpriced restaurant with poor execution across the board. $25 for 6 oysters is Midtown Manhattan pricing, but the quality wasn't even close. We ordered six martinis -- every one tasted different, and one had a bizarre chemical bug spray aftertaste. Fried scallops were buried in over-salted, cheap-tasting dredge. They tasted like Costco samples. The salads came out wrong, and service was rushed -- busboys kept trying to clear our plates while we were still eating. Then came the supposed highlight: the A5 wagyu steak -- served cold. At its price point it's unacceptable. The ambiance didn't help either. The checkerboard floors, different painting styles, and overall half-baked 2000s sitcom design. Some may try to label it eccentric, but to me it just felt outdated and tasteless. read more

A friend and I celebrated our birthday here and it's still one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Wonderful food, the best wine and drink list I've seen anywhere in a long while. The dinner we had at Perrone's was fine is the best way of putting it. We arrived at the time of our res and were seated right away. As it was Valentine's Day and I had planned to propose to my girlfriend, I left a note before hand about my plans to do so. The note was not acknowledged at all by the staff. Server forgot to also mention all of the Valentine's Day specials, including a surf and turf special I most likely would've gotten. We got the scallops for an appetizer, which were tasty however the portion was quite small, about 5 scallops. The appetizers arrived and less than 10 minutes later the entrees were already at the table, which was ok but we both felt rushed off our table. The crust on the steak was fantastic and the cook was also great, however the steak was incredibly under-seasoned. The sides of asparagus and potatoes were also very under-seasoned. We were in and out of dinner in under an hour. Overall Perrone's was very "ok", I feel the pricing for the quality of what you receive was not on par. read more

Perrone's has become my favorite Pawley's restaurant which, in an area of fantastic restaurants, is saying something. I tend to be a creature of habit so I always get the same three sides: creamed spinach, corn soufflé and the bacon Mac and cheese. All absolutely delicious. I'm usually joined by meat eaters and this is where Perrone's really shines from their sous vide pork chops to their aged beef this is a meat lover's paradise. One of the best restaurants in Pawleys Island. 20 minutes from Garden City it's my go to restaurant for high end dining. The duck is always cooked perfectly. Steaks are excellent and they offer Wagyu beef from Japan and Australia. Great wine list and "Happy Endings" try the lavender crème brûlée. read more

To whom it may concern; I debated for a while about whether or not to write this review. In the spirit of full transparency, the person I'm about to mention might actually be one of the owners. I'm not sure if this will make a difference or if it'll just go unnoticed. Still, I thought that offering constructive feedback from someone who works in an organization with one of only six Forbes Triple Five-Star hotels in the U.S. might be helpful. This restaurant uses OpenTable for reservations. I booked a table over a week in advance for four adults and mentioned in the notes that we'd have a baby in a stroller. About four hours before our reservation on Mother's Day weekend, I received a call from a woman who I believe had the same last name as the restaurant. She spoke quickly and seemed a bit rushed. She had questions about the size of the stroller and mentioned that accommodating us might be challenging due to how busy they were expected to be that evening. However, she didn't offer an alternative time or any further instructions. We assumed she'd figure out a solution, given that the restaurant clearly didn't review their reservations until just hours before service. At the Forbes Five-Star Steakhouse in my hotel, we conduct reservation audits a month in advance to catch any issues early and rarely need to reach out to guests--we handle most things in-house to avoid last-minute disruptions. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted by an older woman at the host stand. She seemed to size up the stroller with a look of surprise, almost like she couldn't believe we showed up--despite the reservation note a week in advance and the phone call just four hours before. She told us that a table she thought would work for us was still in the process of paying their bill, and that it should only be "a couple of minutes." The most frustrating part of the entire experience was when she then proceeded to "educate" us on how we should be making reservations in the future. She insinuated that we somehow weren't clear-minded and that, since we were now a party of five (because of the stroller), we should always book for five people going forward. We were completely taken aback by her tone. After waiting nearly 20 minutes to be seated, we watched her casually slurp soup at the host stand. Finally, when we were seated, my sister-in-law was maneuvering the stroller to settle it by the table when the hostess interrupted, saying, "You'll have to put the stroller the other way, we have guests sitting at this table beside you soon." For a $600 meal, the service was absolutely terrible, and we're unlikely to return. We're huge fans of Bistro 270 and Frank's, which have been much more accommodating to our family and my new niece. We believe that the combination of excellent food and service creates an experience of much higher quality. Plus, they use actual menus--not binders with plastic inserts. Do better. read more

It bills itself as Mediterranean. I don't know about all that. It seems to have a little bit of everything going on. What's important is the food is darn good. That sous vide elk dish is something to behold. Everyone at the table ordered crab soup. I had a little taste. Spectacular. The duck breast looked great. I was a little sad I hadn't ordered it. The corn soufflé and two-potato mash were top notch as well, the asparagus nice and fresh. The dining room vibe is tight but cool, very bright with lovely art on the walls. The checkerboard floor somehow works haha. Only reason I am nicking a star from the score is that the service was a bit off. Our waiter was nice but slow to come around, even though we saw him visiting other tables quite frequently. He also talked about himself a lot and hastily brought a bill we hadn't asked for while I was still waiting on my double espresso (which he totally remembered to charge me for). My buddy who has a place on Pawley's said the service was anomalous, so I will revisit this review next time I'm there ... because I will definitely be going to Perrone's. read more

Easily the best place in Pawleys, or Charleston for that matter. It is expensive and worth it. The food superb, fantastic and the cocktails excellent. They serve the very expensive Japanese beef which if you havent had, you should save up and splurge. The rest of the menu is outstanding with prices typical seen in upscale restaurants The service is perfect. Attentive not intrusive. Bottom line; Petrone prides itself on personal service and making sure your meal is something you will remember. Pro tip: Perrones can be very rowdy. There is a large table on the left side looking at the restaurant. It is in front of the bar. Really avoid sitting there. Ask to be seated off to the right. Large drunk parties love that big table and you can't have a nice romantic dinner when people are braying as loud as they can three feet from your table. Don't get me wrong. One of the Best Restaurants in the Entire Grand Strand Myrtle Beach Area. I enjoyed the Special of the Day, Fresh caught Grouper and it was Delicious. We also ordered the Filet, Big Smile, Succulent and prepared Perfectly. I live at least 35 minutes away But well worth the drive. I would suggest you try this rather unique restaurant if in our area. Had a great time this past Friday night on our first visit to Perone's. Highly regarded and lived up to the hype. Our server Kelly was so personable and knowledgeable and guided us nicely through the extensive menu. My wife's pasta with lobster was so unique and full of great flavors. My dry aged ribeye was seared and sliced, medium rare, with just the right amount of seasoning to not overwhelm the flavor of the aged beef. We slipped into the bar area after our meal and had a fig old fashioned that was outstanding. The bartenders are artisans, real craftsman with cocktails. They must have well over a hundred different bottles behind the bar and no duplication. The wine list was one of the most extensive I've ever seen. If you haven't been, don't miss an opportunity. Of all the longtime options in Pawley's Island / Litchfield this is one of the best. We were there tonight for a holiday dinner with the family and it was absolutely spectacular. Eileen put our large party in the private dining room as we have have three toddlers in the family and it was a magical ending to the Christmas holiday. Cocktails which are ALWAYS amazing were a hit with the entire family and NOT ONE ADULT (including the vegetarian) did anything but rave about their apps and dinners and this is a family of honest to god foodies (restaurant owners, etc.). Long time visitor and property owner in Pawleys, but first time diner here - very impressed! Owner/chef takes great pride in their fresh food. Cocktails (martini and old fashioned) were perfect! We ordered burrata appetizer and it was incredibly fresh and delicious. I ordered the grouper special, and wife ordered the filet. Both were delicious! Steak cooked via sous vide- was one of the best steaks I've ever tasted- I will get filet next time. Highly recommend. It's a pricey meal, but worth it. Great date night restaurant! read more

We liked the ambience and the vibe of this restaurant when we arrived. We had a drink at the bar and enjoyed the friendly bartender Chris. Our food was good but nothing out of the ordinary and certainly not worth the price. For $80, the ribeye steak should be delicious and it was not. I found the restaurant overly noisy between the somewhat loud music rather than background noise level and the acoustics were terrible so that the bar area was very noisy from the crowd. I wish they had outdoor seating and had extended hours. I've tried on certain days of the week and after 8:30 to dine but the restaurant was closed. The bar serves more couples than random visitors at the bar. Dress in casual attire, really anything goes but the later you come the more dressed people are. I had grouper served over a dark rice surrounded in a saffron sauce that was just magnificent. My wife had a duck dish that was equally outstanding. Coming here is always such a treat! It's very contemporary and has a great atmosphere, especially the outside. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My boyfriend always gets the filet because it's done perfectly every time. Most recently, I got the spicy crab spaghetti which had the perfect amount of heat - it was so good!!!
