This was our first time at this restaurant. We easily found a parking space in the front. We were greeted warmly when we stepped in the restaurant and out of the sunshine. If you go in the front door there are a few steps to climb. If you need flat entrances they are around back. The host took us to our seats and explained the buffet to us. It is only a buffet place. But you can order a take out as well. There were two tables of food and a dessert table. The salad bar seemed to never end. Everything was cut fresh with no limp vegetables or lettuce. Marilyn brought me coffee and Bev Tea. It was plenty hot and fresh. I absolutely love their coffee. I had two cups before I even finished my plate of food. Marilyn was very attentive to each table and came to ours often. After I finished my salad. I saw Carie filling a plate for someone. When she was done I asked her if she could get me a chicken breast. My joint pain and back pain had been extreme this week. Using the walker was even painful. Carie said, "Absolutely !" She returned quickly and with a smile. The staff is so kind. The manager Tommy came by our table to see how we were enjoying our meal. I let him know the salad bar was perfect. The chicken I enjoyed was tender and juicy. I also noticed the teamwork between the staff was easy and natural like a choreographed dance. Bev and I plan to return for the Easter Sunday Meal. We stumbled upon Judy Boone's last summer due to high reviews online. We have been back at 4-5 times since! The waitresses are always friendly and the food is always delicious. My favorites are the macaroni & cheese, green beans, black-eyed peas, and sweet potato casserole. The parking lot is spacious and the inside of the restaurant is too. Snooty folks don't come! This is a finger licking place. A dated long time great buffet spot that can get very busy. Seats over 200 folks. Closed Monday's, check out daily specials first. I came for fried chicken livers....oh so good. Also had fried pork chops, pull pork, shrimp, flownder, meat loaf and fried chicken. Great salad bar which I skip, to filling. Normal sides. Fresh Rolls. Table service is very good and ladies hussel, today we had Sonya. Wheelchairs do not work well in restrooms. Over 200 good places to eat in MB but this should be one you try for sure! This place is perfectly fine for those that want the southern comfort food, I'm sure it will be fine. The food was very good. The fish was awesome. If you want vegetables, well your choices are very southern. Black-eyed peas, okra gumbo, corn, collard greens and Lima beans, are your choices. No green salad or nutritious options. Service was kinda nonexistent. It's all serve yourselves including drink refills. The place itself is roomy and basic. A little worn out. So why 4 stars? The food. Everything we tried was very good! We had another great experience at **Judy Boone's** in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, located in the old Admiral's Quarters building. Parking is easy with a large lot behind the restaurant (not obvious from the street), and we were lucky enough to snag front-door parking on New Year's Day. We came down for New Year's Day 2026 and were not disappointed. There was a short wait, we were seated quickly, and then invited to help ourselves to the buffet. This is a fantastic country buffet any day of the week, and the New Year's spread featured traditional favorites like collard greens, black-eyed peas, and hog jowl--items that may also appear on the regular buffet. The selection was excellent: fried flounder, fried shrimp, fried chicken, baked chicken, barbecue, barbecue ribs, a full salad bar, classic country sides, and desserts. Everything was fresh and well-prepared. The servers stayed on top of things and kept our drinks refilled without hovering. We've eaten here several times in the past, and it continues to deliver. Judy Boone's is also very reasonably priced, making it an affordable option for a hearty, satisfying meal. YUMMMMM, I would eat here every day if I could, but my pants won't fit. My most favorite thing is the world is fried shrimp. They have that. Lots of it. And it's good. Then I discovered my second most favorite thing in the world that I never even knew existed: pineapple cobbler. WHUT?! Why have I never even experienced this before in my life and why has no one ever made this exquisite combination? SO GOOOOOD. If they don't have any available on the dessert table, ask one of the sweet servers nicely, and they may be kind enough to scoop you a generous helping directly from the kitchen. We have heard so many good things about the ribs so we drove the 30 mins to get here. Service was good. The ribs were tender but not really good enough to come back for. It's been a while since I went to a southern style buffet, this place was a wonderful surprise in food offering and quality of food. Fried flounder! Perfectly crisp and the fish was perfectly flakey. Fried shrimp! The meatloaf was so tasty and tasted like home. Mac n Cheese! Mmmmm. Collard greens could have had a little more kick, but extremely flavorful. Mashed potato's were so gooooood. Buttery and just like home. Fried Pork chops were also perfectly crisp. Salad bar with all the fixins. Desserts.... Get the brownie. For a buffet and hearty southern style food, I was only able to get two full plates in before I wanted to just take a nap. The price is extremely fair. We were in Myrtle Beach for Thanksgiving Week and we decided we wanted a legit, local "Coastal Carolina" experience for 'Turkey Day". JB's did not disappoint. We arrived at 8:50A for the 10:00A opening so we got a seat outside the front door. The locals were very friendly and told us they came to JB's from across the street, Conway, Sumpter, Charleston - all over, and all said the buffet was great. So far so good. The line ended up wrapping around the building and cars lined down the street. The door opened at 10:00A promptly and the crowd filed in. The turkey was brined and pulled. Fried chicken like granny would make. Crisp, fresh , but not overly ambitious salad bar. Flat green beans. Crispy, seasoned, thin cut, fried pork chops. Solid, cheesy M&C, GREAT Southern hushpuppies, and homestyle meat loaf. Staff were friendly and efficient. All of the items you expect for Thanksgiving and then some. Went for the thanksgiving dinner. Waste of money. This was my first time there. When you walk in you see a number of awards that they have won for various items they serve. Best chicken, best ribs, best fish. They even won awards for best buffet. I have never been so disappointed. Food as a whole was over cooked, tasteless and unappetizing. I am sure that the excuse is that it was thanksgiving and very crowded. I say that you should have prepared better. Came to Judy Boone's after hearing about it and I must it was really good. Got to the restaurant around 6:45 and was seated after a short wait. The waitress was nice and took our drink orders soon as we sat. All the food was fresh and they brought more out even tho it was close to closing time. The best thing about this restaurant is the staff - everyone was so friendly and helpful! Our server, Anna, checked in often to make sure all was well. The ambiance is a bit chaotic and crowded, maybe because we went on a Friday night for the seafood buffet. Have to say the food was hit or miss, some excellent items (fried oysters, scallops) and others just ordinary (Mac and cheese, fried chicken). But nothing was bad, and you certainly can not beat the price! We'll probably go back to try the lunch buffet. read more
