They recently remodeled this restaurant with new flooring a fresh paint job and removed the annoying fake bird. The service is always great here, I had the Red,White and Blue pancakes, light a fluffy, fruit was fresh. My wife's omelette had the ingredients mixed into the eggs which tastes so much better then putting them on the eggs and folding them over like some of the area restaurants. We've been here many times always gets seat quickly even though the parking lot is full. We will keep coming back! read more

This is my parent's go-to breakfast place and with good reason. It does get crowded and parking can be a pain. But, inside, they always have plenty of waitstaff and things go quickly. Food is very good. At the table we had bacon, belgian waffles and a BLT and all were very good. The side of bacon might seem a bit pricey at nearly $5 but you get 5 slices of thick, hefty, smokey, good quality bacon. Waffles were crispy, fluffy, and perfect. The BLT was made correctly (on wheat, hold the mayo) and had no complaints. read more

The Myrtle Beach area is chock-full of these kinds of all-purpose diner or pancake house type places, and for the most part, they'll serve you well for a quick sit down breakfast or lunch. Blue Sky Restaurant was convenient for where we were heading, and it's a very large place, so no waiting at all. The menu is vast, with every kind of reasonable breakfast thing you could possibly want and some surprises. There is also a nice size lunch menu of sandwiches, burgers, chicken, and a few entrees. I was in more of a lunch mood, so I went for the club sandwich. Food took about 20 minutes to come out and the sandwich was a nice size, well presented. That said, I would have liked a better ratio of meat to bread, it was a little sparse. I had also ordered it with honey mustard, and was half done with my sandwich before our waitress appeared again with a cup of it for me to self apply. The onion rings were pretty standard, nicely crispy, but didn't stand out in any particular way. I was happy with them, and generally happy overall. read more

Last day of vacation in the area. First time here. We were looking for something traditional breakfast options. This hit the mark. Ample parking. First thing we noticed though as we walked in was an incessant squawking. For some unbeknownst reason, they have a bird on their balcony in a cage. The thing was shrieking nonstop. Not exactly what I want to listen to at 0730 while trying to have breakfast with my wife. Ambiance...cue the 80s set design. The interior was straight outta 40 years ago. Time for some updating. However, our server was excellent. She was attentive, but not overly intrusive. Much appreciated. The food was good. Standard "diner" style breakfast. My wife had French toast and scrambled eggs. I had the "Carolina Omelet." Both were good. Can I say this place blew me away? No. But it was a good, basic, homestyle breakfast with no fancy frills. That's what we were looking for. Mission accomplished. Will we be back? Maybe. No real reason not to come back when we are in town...but there are a bazillion other breakfast places to visit as well. Overall, well done. read more

We had passed by this place over the weekend and it was always packed so we decided to try it out on a Monday morning. Upon walking in it definitely feels like it has not been updated in a while and there is a constant chirping of a bird in a cage on the 2nd floor that was a little annoying. The service was good but the breakfast was marginal at best and the coffee was so-so. Maybe we will give it another shot in the future but there are so many better options in the area. Our first time because we live about 30 minutes away, and the restaurant closes at 2PM daily. The only thing saving this place is the service and that's why they get 2 stars, and not 1. Blue Sky somehow manages to be both crowded and lifeless at the same time. The dining room is packed with senior citizens, which would be fine if the food didn't seem like it was designed specifically for people who think seasoning is dangerous. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes and I honestly didn't know pancakes could be this bland. No flavor, no salt, no sweetness -- just a soft, beige disappointment. I absolutely smothered them in butter and syrup out of desperation and somehow it didn't help at all. After a few bites, I gave up and didn't even finish them. Everything about the place feels stuck in slow motion -- from the menu to the atmosphere to the food itself. Service was polite, but that's about the nicest thing I can say. If you're under 70 or enjoy food that actually tastes like something, you're probably better off eating literally anywhere else. read more

Every time we drive by on the way to Huntington state park the Blue sky's parking lot is packed. We had to try it. Our waitress immediately came to greet us and take our drink orders. I was given my own pot of delicious coffee! I ordered an omelette with tomato, cheese, and spinach and a side of hash browns. My hub had a waffle with a side of bacon. The food was very good, the prices reasonable, and the service was great! That's why the parking lot is always full! read more

I really enjoy breakfast with my mom at Blue Sky, the food is consistently great, especially the breakfast. I've only had the lunch there 1 time, my mother and I both got the special, Fish (cod) and chips with slaw. The best thing was the slaw, it was fresh and crunchy, the cod fillets were fried well, but they were identical, in shape and size, and after biting into them we knew they were the frozen prebattered ones, which plate well, but taste like fish sticks. I'm still going to eat at Blue Sky often, I'll just pass on the fish n chips. Everything else i've eaten has been great. Servers are great, the place is always clean, and it's usually packed, telling you it's a great place to eat. 5 stars from me read more

Family run. Always looked packed from parking lot for breakfast. They are open for breakfast and lunch only. Don't let this dissuade you from stopping (it did stop us for years). The inside is very large and never a wait! The service is great, although I wish the waitresses would write down the orders. Today's waitress did not, and onions were in the omelet, oh well! The food and selection is very good with options to substitute if needed. Ambiance is as would be expected, nice and roomy. One exception is in one area they have a cockatoo up on a balcony who will periodical be very loud and annoying. However, I left a pair of Meta Ray Ban glasses on the table, walked out, pulled out and right back in to only be told they weren't there but I was welcome to check the table. The table that had already been cleaned. I went back to my car and called Meta to find the last location connected to my phone which was in fact the Blue sky. I already knew because this was our only stop. I went back in to let them know and gave my number...nothing still. Did they even ask the waitress? | sent the owner a private message with no response still. So after looking at their page and locating the waitress... seems to have a record but I can't confirm since no one will return a message. So if you want great food and to leave missing stuff this might be your place. Update- it's been over a week and still no response from the owner. Not even an acknowledgement so I'm not sure they care about guests either. read more

It was super busy being Memorial Day, so my negative review has nothing to do with the extremely long wait before we finally got our food. My wife asked for well done home fries, well done hash and feta on top of her eggs. We've never seen feta before that looks like stringy mozzarella cheese. When she asks the waitress, she says no, it's definetly feta. Whatever. Nothing was well done either. My wife didn't touch her home fries, ate half her eggs and half the hash. Waitress knew we weren't happy, but made no attempt to make it right. Then gives us the bill for full price. Maybe take a little something off since my wife barely ate any of her meal. Just a few observances. Breakfast houses all over the Strand close after lunch. It's normal, it's what they do. The food isn't like a school cafeteria, unless your school was in Beverly Hills. People born after 1980 shouldn't comment on 70's decor - I was there, this is far from 70's. It's coastal floral. It's not "expensive" unless you're comparing it to McD's. We spent under $20 per seat and ate more than a filling lunch. My lunch special was fantastic and more food than I can eat. In the strand, in season, waiting for a table is normal. If it's not busy, don't eat there. My chowda was a thin clam juice and milk based New England. I like mine thick but this was good enough that I cleaned the bowl. My turkey and dressing was miles better than a cafeteria or military chow hall. I spend as much at WorldwidePancakeHouse and it's not nearly this good nor well serviced. Service from door to exit was attentive and friendly. Ambience was as expected though a touch noisy. Tables, floors, and bathrooms were clean - I'll assume the kitchen gets similar attention. The menu is massive for the genre. It doesn't matter what time you arrive, they stay busy. For a reason. Ps: turn at a light either side, go down Murrells Inlet Road then turn toward 17 at Hammock Ave. it's way safer. Trying to cross 17 is terribly dangerous. Their menus are online - don't go if the menu or price aren't to your liking. There are 2700 places to eat in the Grand Strand market, at every price point and every taste. Except a true NY/NJ deli - we don't have a great one. read more

Took my mom here for breakfast while on vacation. This place was fantastic. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. I got the cream chipped beef and hashbrowns with cheese. Both knocked it out of the park. My mom got the crab benedict, which she ate all off, and that's pretty rare for her to do. She loved it was well. Will return here next time we're in the area. Ps. My mom wanted me to mention how great the coffee was as well. Agree, a really good cup of coffee, and they leave the carafe on the table for you to refill yourself when you order it. That's a pro move. read more
