The service was great in this place! The building is on a busy highway with easy access. Building could use some updating. I ordered the 2 eggs and a English muffin with turkey bacon. Wow!!! The absolute BEST PANCAKES in the Surfside/Myrtle Beach area. The pancakes were so fluffy and tasty. Some places just take like flour, not these. Amazing!! I had the strawberry blueberry combination and the fruit was so fresh, sweet and plentiful. Just absolutely phenomenal. If you are in this area go here. Our waitress, Jennifer was equally as attentive and fabulous. Needless to say, we were highly impressed with this restaurant and strongly. I feel like Norm from Cheer's. OK, you may be to young to remember Cheer's. From the moment I enter this establishment, the Staff make you feel welcome. They are prompt in getting you seated and your order to the kitchen. Most times the order comes rather quickly. The staff follow through on making sure the coffee pot is full. Second day in a row we've had breakfast here! Terry, the waitress/ server was awesome! So sweet, nice, hospitable, and kept checking on us! The omelettes are great and large portions! They also come with either 2 pancakes or other choice sides like home fries, hash browns, etc. . We went a little later this morning than yesterday and thought it would be more crowded, but it was not. There also seemed to be more servers today to take care of people. The servers all pitch in to help each other. We have eaten many times at the Plantation Pancake House at Myrtle Beach and this one was as good as what we've come to expect. The dining area is spacious and it is well-lit and clean. The servers get the tables cleaned off immediately to ready for the next diners. We will be back tomorrow! read more

Well wish I could be more positive about our experience. We arrived at 10:29 and didn't get our food until 11:42.....well most of our food that is. The restaurant wasn't full as there were numerous empty tables and no large parties. We were the largest at just 5 people. Had to let the server know about all the missing items (toast, grits, and bacon) and still didn't get our toast until our plates were clean. She continuously was apologizing to tables and even had a table of two leave after their long wait to give their order. She stated the kitchen was the issue, which very well could have been. Things could have been made better if the food had been great, but it wasn't. This was our first and last time at Plantation House. My dish was a solid 3.5. All three at out table enjoyed the food. Kitchen sink was enjoyed. Breakfast wrap had a lot of potatoes inside and that took away from the flavor a bit. I created the Bridgette Benedict: I added crab and shrimp on top of the crab benedict. $4.99 extra for shrimp $4.99 extra for crab. Hollandaise was thin and lacked flavor. Their crab cake is not what you normally see in other places. It is a good size with nearly zero fillers. No old bay (which I appreciate). This is not lump crab -it is a mix of possibly lump with mostly backfin and claw. As a wholecrab lover I loved it but if you are expecting the breaded stuffing kind you will be thrown off. I would not bother getting the extra crab as it was the same as the cakes but crisper. The shrimp was small,sauteed and on the salty side but firm and tasty. Hashbrowns were tender with a fresh potato taste. My hot chocolate was not rich - probably from a packet. Coffee was ok - you get a carafe. Waitress was attentive and kind. This place is 3/4's empty and all we hear is excuses of them being understaffed. They probably lost over 50 customers just in the time we sat in the restaurant because they're just not serving customers. No more to say. This is an older / dated restaurant. There is an extensive menu, which doesn't work if you can't put the food out more timely. I ordered 2 eggs - over medium, and Paris Toast. The eggs were fried hard. The Paris toast was nearly burnt on the bottom. My husband ordered 2 eggs over medium, smoked sausage, fried potatoes and toast. The eggs were overdone and the potatoes were cold. The sausage was ok. Everything seemed to take a long time to be prepared. The building is very dated The staff was very friendly. There seemed to be an older, maybe local crowd. Prices seemed to be decent. Two stars, only because the waitstaff was very friendly, otherwise it would have been one star. read more

I have been waiting almost two hours for my food. It is causing very murderous thoughts. I am about to go back in the kitchen and make my own food. I hope they feel good that they have caused me such pain. Update: I have finally gotten my food and it is quite sub-par. Ordered the Valentine Pancake Special (which is supposed to have NO PECANS). Open arrival of the food there were pecans cooked into and on top of the pancakes. I went here because I could walk over from my hotel. The two servers were in their early 20s - one male and one female - the both looked a little "rough". The female took my order (I would hate to say she actually waited on me) and kept mentioning how frantic the morning was. I ordered country fried steak with scrambled eggs, potatoes, grits, and toast. Serve time was ok and the food was ample portions and good taste. Sever was slow to refill my drink and never provided the requested catsup for my potatoes. Most annoying of all was a table of young males that may have decided to eat there after their partying all night. They were incredibly loud and discussing topics and using language better suited for late night card games. There seemed to me many regular older persons that as I were put off by this loud group. I would give it a lower rating if possible. In 61 years this was the worst meal ever. After waiting one hour to get our food and longer for the kids meals it was so bad we could not eat the food. We could not even recognize what some of it was. The potatoes were raw, the kids chocolate chip pancakes where a joke they just through a few chocolate chips on the top. Half the food we order we never got and where fine with that because you could not eat it. The waitress was standing in the dinning room crying. When we told the hostess I how bad the food was she did not even care. Her response was it is hard to get people to work theses days. Stay far away from this place. This place should be closed down.
